In this reading plan, we are learning more about God by studying the names given to Him in Scripture. Each day, you’ll come here to read the description of the name we’re studying today and a brief explanation of how God’s character is seen through His name. (Remember that because the Bible was originally written in Hebrew and Greek, some of God’s names are written in the English form of His name from their original language.) You can then head to today’s passages to see how this name functions in Scripture.
GOD ALMIGHTY: God’s power over all things
El Shadday, or “God Almighty,” is a name God used to describe Himself throughout the Old Testament. He appeared to Abraham in Genesis 17 with the greeting, “I am God Almighty.” Then God made a covenant with Abraham, promising to make him the father of a great nation, even though Abraham was old and his wife was unable to have children. God offered His name, God Almighty, as the guarantee of this improbable promise. Bound up in God’s covenant promise to Abraham is the Lord’s proclamation of His power.
The name God Almighty also appears frequently in the book of Job to emphasize God’s power over all things. El Shadday is a powerful, awe-inspiring name for our God.

God Almighty! You are all poweful! There is nothing I should fear. You reign over it all and are in control!
You always were, You always are, You always will be!
♥️
2 Corinthians 6:18: This passage reminds me that God Almighty isn’t just powerful, He’s also personal. It’s comforting to know the Almighty God also calls me His child ❤️
❤✝️
God is truly the Almighty. The more I walk with Him, the more I meditate on the great and strange things He has brought me through, the righteous paths He has placed me on, the dark circumstances that baffled me, yet to bring His Light to the oppressors to save them, I did not understand then, but retrospect always brings clarity. It’s God’s Love even to the evil one. Mankind- left on our own with no thought of God, we would be controlled by sin. Natural state of man is wretchedness, the state of deep unhappiness, misery, of suffering, both physical and mental distress. “O wretched man that I am, who will deliver me from this body of death?” “is anything too hard for the Lord?” (Genesis 18:14). Confront sin as God would confront sin. It is by His grace and mercy alone that we can make it, and say “Thanks be to God through Jesus Christ our Lord”. A second chance is given, “Neither do I condemn you, go and sin no more!”. Let us turn to Him, the maker of our soul, with all our heart, mind, and strength while He can be found. Yield, surrender to His molding. He sees beyond what we are, to what we can become. His vision for us is perfect. His plan for us is a plan of hope. His patience is long enduring. But only through the flame, the vessel can become strong, beautiful and useful. In the Potter’s Almighty Hands, the dust becomes divine art. Even our ordinary and mundane things become sacred purposes. Through trials, He presses us, for love and not for punishment. Our tears are carefully collected in His bottle. Through love, He refines us into Himself. “Blessed is the one whom God correct, do not despise the discipline of the Almighty”. In His house, there are many vessels, gold, silver, wood and clay. Those who turn away from sin, who flee youthful lusts and run toward righteousness are cleansed vessels, made ready for the Master’s hands. They are filled with truth, grace, purity, fit for kingdom work and divine assignments. They are filled with the things of God, humility, love, patience and truth. He is truly The Almighty. “O wretched man that I am, who will deliver me from this body of death?” Truly only The Almighty can do such thing. Apart from Him there is no others. Be blessed dear sisters.
Thank you, Mercy ❤️
Genesis 18:14 in the Stone Edition of the Tanach (also known as the Artscroll Tanach) reads as follows:
“Is anything beyond HASHEM? At the appointed time I will return to you, at this time next year, and Sarah will have a son.”
Context:
This verse is part of the narrative where God tells Abraham that his wife Sarah, though elderly and barren, will have a son. Sarah laughs in disbelief, prompting this divine response emphasizing God’s unlimited power.
El-Shaddai by Amy Grant on of the lyrics reads: “To the outcast on her knees. You were the God who really sees.” HE sees us sweet She’s! He does! This is what I’ve been receiving from this study. The God who sees!!! Love you SO much! Happy Thursday sweet She’s!
One thing that I am grateful for that He really sees.
Love that song Mari!
As soon as I opened today’s reading, I immediately thought of the Amy Grant song too. God, even in his power and might, still sees and knows us.
2 Corinthians 6:16 – 18
~
I will dwell and walk among them, and I will be their God, and they will be my people. 17 Therefore, come out from among them and be separate, says the Lord; do not touch any unclean thing, and I will welcome you. 18 And I will be a Father to you, and you will be sons and daughters to me, says the Lord Almighty.
Calling on El Shadday is a way of surrendering. It says, I don’t have to be strong, because You are. I don’t have to know the way, because You lead. I don’t have to worry about how—because You are God Almighty.
❤️
Good morning SHES! What wonderful insights! I praise God today for His abiding presence and that He is God Almighty! Nothing is too difficult for Him!
Thank you for the songs! They will be replaying with me all day!
Praying for all! Thank you for prayers for Levi!
Have a blessed day!
Would love your prayers as we bury my FIL today. He was a general in the US Army, so it’s appropriate that his full military honors burial will be close to July 4th. All the pomp and circumstance is certain to render me a blubbering mess, but we hope today is a day of honoring him and the Lord for his life. Is is likely that many unbelievers will be at the funeral, so also pray that the gospel is clear and seeds will be planted. ❤️
Prayers.
Im sorry for your loss. I just went through the exact situation/funeral for my fil.
❤️
Praying, Rachel.
Prayers going out to you this morning Rachel.
Prayers
Prayers for many seeds planted and watered today, and for you and your husband/family .
Praying ❤️ My heart goes out to you in this time of sorrow. May you and your family feel the comfort of God’s presence.
Praying comfort and peace for your family! ❤️
Reminds me of the old Sandi Patty song “El Shaddai”
Thankful for these reminders of who God is & how He loves us! God Almighty is reigning over all things. | Seth update: He is doing assisted physical therapy and learning how to move his legs/arms again. He said his first four words yesterday! Thank you for your continued prayers over Seth & his family! Also, did you send a DoorDash gift card to them Searching? If so, THANK YOU!! God still does miracles & I’m grateful to be witnessing one.
Praise the Lord for God’s hand on Seth! Continuing prayers!
Thank you Cheryl!
Yes, Amen! How wonderful those first words must have been for the family! God do your miraculous work on Seth, and bring all around them closer to you!
Absolutely!! Such a relief to hear his voice again.
you’re welcome ❤️
Baby steps
Yes! One day at a time!!
El Shaddai, God Almighty – the name above all names. Tender, present, attentive and powerful, righteous, holy, Lord of all, all at the same time. With every word that we have focused on, there still doesnt seem to be ones adequate, to fully sum up or enough ways to give praise to what an awesome God we serve. With humble, grateful, heartfelt praise, I lift my hands. Praise to our God Almighty ❤️
Wendy, I wholeheartedly agree with you that there are not enough words or ways to praise God. He alone is worthy.
Holy Spirit prompt my heart and mind to stand in faith that my almighty God reigns over all circumstances.
EL SHADDAI- The definition for “MIGHTY” doesn’t come close to reflecting that quality in God. I found some synonyms that we often use for God, however:
Potent
Robust
Omnipotent
Indomitable
Powerhouse
.
As with every attribute of God, we can’t fully grasp the depth or intensity. Being on the road for the past 10 days gave me ample views of the mighty nature of God. The serenity of the Plains, the mighty flowing rivers, the vast skyline, to the last visual that blew me away: as we came through Nashville Monday evening, the sun wad shining on the buildings giving them a sheen of gold. My camera wasn’t handy and GPS was on my phone so I just have to savor that image in memory. It made me think of the Heavenly city described in the Bible. The glow of our God Almighty??!!
.
Several Shes have mentioned El Shaddai’ – the song. That song is special to me and came to mind right away because
1) it is a song I still can ‘sort of play’ and
2) first solo I ever sang and it was with piano only ( not me playing!!.
.
Just found this song:
God Almighty by Chris Tomlin
Like the water’s roar
Is Your voice, O Lord
There is none before
And none beside
You are set apart
You alone are God
Your glory reaches far
From sky to sky
Holy, Holy, Lord God Almighty
Early in the morning we will sing
Holy, Holy, we bow down before Thee
All Your children love to sing Your name
God Almighty
You’re the breath of life
You’re the God on high
Your song shall rise
And never pass away
O, Your Majesty
Evermore shall be
The earth, the skies, the sea
Shall bring You praise
And I hide my eyes
With my face to the ground
In the presence of Your Majesty
And I clap my hands
And I lay my crowns
In the presence of Your Majesty
.
I have missed you sisters and have lots to catch up on! Glad and thankful to be back in this community! Love, hugs, and prayers! ❤
❤️ We just returned from a quick trip taking us through spectacular scenery and it always leaves me in awe of God’s creation so I relate to what you’re saying.
Truly no words, right?!
You were missed, glad you got to travel! I, too, have come into Nashville with the morning sun and it was so pretty! I love car trips and seeing God’s beauty. So many stare at their phones non-stop. (although to be honest, I have to read, as to not glare at my husbands driving! lol). But I love just flat land with little farm-ettes and the corn or wheat fields. It’s where I grew up.
We were wondering where you were CEE GEE. Adrienne was concerned. So glad you had a lovely time. Hugs and love.
Welcome back Cee Gee. You were missed. I had a similar experience going into Chattanooga coming down out of the mountains into the city just as the early morning sun rose over the city. It was a spectacular view gleaming with gold.
I am reminded again that we are Of the God Almighty, El Shaddai, set apart, to be different from the rest. “Do not be yoked together with those that do not believe.” We are daughters of the Most High God, Lord of Lords…we are set apart. We cannot look like the world. Oh how the water is so mixed today. We can not linger in sin and be okay with it. What harm it does to non believers and believers alike, we become hypocrites. We become lukewarm.
“What fellowship does light have with darkness? Righteousness with lawlessness..” We are temples of the Living God Almighty! Oh how I want to do Him justice! I want to love and honor him with all my actions, and daily walk, and what I watch and look at.
We have gotten so into the mantra of love like Jesus, but Jesus was Holy and called people to repent, and “follow” him. To obey God. Not to live under grace alone. We need to clean up and be ready my sisters, for the signs are clear. Now the church is dividing, which I believe is the final sign before the rapture. It’s a spiritual divide to separate the wheat and the tares.
This study is very timely to turn our eyes to the Father God..and all that He Is. The Great I AM. He will not be mocked. He will not have other gods and idols before him. The book of Revelations is to be read by his. To prepare us. For those who “fear his name.” No reason for other fears and anxiety, but to rest in him, assured and protected in his love. He is Goodness for those that are his children and repent from sin.
Amen
True!
Couldn’t have said it better Rhonda! AMEN!
Amen sister- Get ready for the rapture. I love this. Don’t be lukewarm, we need to rekindle our first love and be on fire for Him. He won’t come back for the bride who is caught in bed with the world.
“He won’t come back for the bride who is caught in bed with the world.” WOW! That hit hrrd and clear for me. Amen!
He is powerful and over all things, yet He wants to be close to us and gave everything for that. Wow! Thank You, Jesus!
And I will be a Father to you, and you’ll be sons and daughters to me, since the Lord Almighty. 2 Corinthians 6:18
The readings today remind me of two children’s songs learned long ago some of the words are:
(1)”God can do anything, anything, God can do anything but fail.”
(2)”My God is so big, so strong and so mighty there’s nothing my God can not do!”
.
Simple words but such powerful meaning.
—
Praising God today – that the same power that rose Jesus from the dead lives in me… All glory to You, El Shadday!

Happy Thursday sweet She’s! ❤️
My granddaughters, 5 and 7, sing that song, “ My God is so Big “ with much gusto. I love to hear them sing!
Praying for peace, clarity, guidance and healing for you! Thankful we have His power as well.
Sister Shes we Love the Lord.
Awesome & Almighty.
Merciful & Magnificent.
Guarantor & Guardian.
Of the most improbable promise.
Given to Abraham & Sarah.
In this Lord Alone.
We find our bearing, belonging & very being.
And sweet sisters sang Amen!
Amen!
Amen! ❤
You are the All-Sufficient One—strong enough to create galaxies, yet tender enough to shelter me under Your wings.
–
You make impossible promises and fulfill them in perfect time. You hear cries, remember covenants, and never forget Your people.
–
Thank You that You are not only mighty to reign,
but mighty to love. You call me Your child,
You dwell with me, and You cover me with Your shadow.
–
Teach me to walk before You like Abraham—faithful and blameless, to rest in You like the psalmist under Your wings, to hope like the saints in Revelation who know You will reign forever.
–
Let Your voice speak into my life like the sound in Ezekiel—
not just loud, but holy and clear.
Let me hear You, follow You, and worship You.
El Shaddai, You are more than enough for me.
Draw me deeper into Your heart.
Let my life reflect the power and peace of knowing You as God Almighty.
❤️
Amen!

What stood out to me in today’s reading, was how God started out i in Genesis introducing Himself to Abram (an acquaintance) then to Moses as a friend, then in the New Testament scripture as family! God is not content with a shallow relationship, He wants to know and be known! He IS Good God Almighty!
Yes, Rach in AL!
He IS the Good & Almighty ONE!
❤️
Well said, Rachel! ❤
The name God Almighty invites us to hold two truths together: that God is infinitely powerful AND deeply personal. He reigns above all yet chooses to dwell with us!
Yes, Kimberly!
Powerful & Deeply Personal.
❤️
❤️
He is God Almighty. To say He is worthy of our praise is such an understatement. Thank you, Almighty God, for loving us.

Praying, SHARON, in the waiting.
TAMI – praying for BJ!!
❤️
Thank you Searching!
Truth, sister!!! ❤
First Good God Almighty by Crowder popped in my head:
Good God almighty
I hope You’ll find me
Praising Your name no matter what comes
‘Cause I know where I’d be without Your mercy
So I keep praising Your name at the top of my lungs
Tell me, is He good? (He’s good)
Tell me, is He God? (He’s God)
He is good God Almighty
.
Then the song El Shaddai written by Michael Card:
El shaddai, el shaddai,
El-elyon na adonai,
Age to age You’re still the same,
By the power of the name.
El shaddai, el shaddai,
Erkamka na adonai,
We will praise and lift You high,
El shaddai.
.
SHARON JERSEY GIRL – praying the Lord brings you His peace and wisdom as you navigate the next 3 months.

TAMI – continuing to pray for you, Chela, and BJ.

Love both these songs too!…Thank you for your prayers, they are so much appreciated! ❤️
Thank you Kelly! I just listened to that song sung by Amy Grant. My mom used to listen to her when I was a kid:)
❤
❤
Yes, Kelly (NEO) my granddaughters , 5 and 7, sing that song too. They are real Crowder fans. They have gone to concerts with their parents. They have even met him. They ask for that song on the way to preschool and really “Jam” in their seats. I have learned to love that song from them. There is nothing better than hear those little voices praising the Lord!!
I agree, nothing better! My grandkids would say it’s my Jesus music! It’s actually pretty great hearing my husband singing along unknowingly to Jesus music too!
Tina what a great reminder of all the battles THE LORD ALMIGHTY is fighting for us.✝️
Who can stop the Lord Almighty..
.
He’s fighting our battles.. whatever they look like.. illness, bereavement, brokeness, heartache.. despair..
.
Who can stop the Lord Almighty..
.
I love these words.. such truth, the world cannot heal us, the world cannot bring us the required peace and the world, for sure cannot provide the hope that our hearts need..
.
BUT GOD..
I, for one.. today hold fast to the LORD ALMIGHTY, because He, and only He, can fight for me in a way that only He can. But also, in a way that gives me peace, heals me and brings me hope i so long for..
.
BUT GOD..
