In this reading plan, we are learning more about God by studying the names given to Him in Scripture. Each day, you’ll come here to read the description of the name we’re studying today and a brief explanation of how God’s character is seen through His name. (Remember that because the Bible was originally written in Hebrew and Greek, some of God’s names are written in the English form of His name from their original language.) You can then head to today’s passages to see how this name functions in Scripture.
EVERLASTING GOD: God’s eternal nature, being beyond time
The name Everlasting God only appears twice in the Old Testament (and in two different forms), but it points to a reality about God we see throughout Scripture. God has no beginning and no end. He exists outside of time; He is forever.

LORD, you have always been, you always are, and you always will be! There is no beginning and end with You. Your reign never ends. You don’t grow faint or grow weary. You are our strength and our deliverer!
❤✝️ Amen
♥️
Lord, you have been our refuge in every generation…Psalm 90:1
I know that my grandmothers walked with the Lord, and I am quite certain that it was for religious freedom that my Mennonite ancestors left Germany in the 1700s.
It is so heartwarming to know that my God was their God and also the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. He is faithful, a refuge, rock and never tires.

I chose Isaiah 40:28 to write down. Itreminds me that the Everlasting God never grows tired or confused. When I feel worn out or don’t understand what’s going on, I can rest knowing He’s strong, wise, and steady. He’s always able, always present ❤️
I am joining in prayers with you dear shes this morning. There was a call to pray for the Fourth of July. It came and passed, it went quiet and who knew such devastating flood would happen. May the Lord have mercy on us all. “Many are the afflictions of the righteous; But the LORD delivers him out of them all”. Amen.
❤
Love all of your comments this morning. Praying for all the souls in Texas. So heartbreaking. So amazing to serve an Everlasting God! ❤️
Great to see you, Catherine!
LOVE Isaiah 40:28!! I feel there is so much power in these Words! I say it loudly and with power!! “Do YOU not know? Have YOU not heard? The EVERLASTING GOD, the CREATOR of the ends of the earth. He WILL NOT grow tired or weary, and His understanding no one can fathom!” So much power in these Words! NOW that’s OUR GOD!!! Happy Monday sweet She’s!

Today I woke with a heavy heart for my neighboring state of Texas and all of the loss. But God reminded me today that He was calling me to pray for those who can’t pray now, for comfort and peace and for miracles! To intercede for those who might be losing faith.
God is forever and forever, Everlasting God. I may not understand everything but I can trust Him. He will be with all of the hurting!
Praying for all the requests and for all of you!
I have a colonoscopy tomorrow. I have to fast for 24 hours which has me very stressed. Can i ask for prayer? I know I have huge medical trauma from 32 years of being in medical situations with my son. It can debilitate me. Thank you!
Dear Traci, Praying you will feel God’s comfort over you today and tomorrow and that He will give you peace of mind.
Thank you
Praying Traci that you have strength and resilience to overcome this.
Have prayed for you, Traci. I understand that these things can be so hard. Hugs.
‘You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in you. Trust in the Lord forever, for the Lord, the Lord himself, is the Rock eternal.’ Isa 26:3-4
Traci, I am praying for peace from the anxiety and quick recovery from the procedure! ❤
Praying Traci! May you sense His presence and peace with you as you prepare and go through this procedure. Guide the hands of all those involved in Traci’s care, Lord and we pray for a good recovery and report. ❤️
In a world of constant change and uncertainty, these names are anchors for our souls. They remind us that God is not bound by time—He sees the end from the beginning. He’s never surprised, never late, and never worn out. Knowing God as El Olam gives us the peace to trust Him with both our past and our future. We can lay down anxiety and control because He holds time in His hands. He’s not just the God of the Bible—He is the Eternal God of your story.
❤️
Amen..you shorten my thoughts completely!!

God has no beginning and no end. He exists outside of time; He is forever.
Everlasting God! Always with us. Even when my focus wanders.
Everlasting Father, we come before you grateful for Your presence and hand over us. Father, I lift up those who have lost their homes and family members because of the devastating flooding in Texas. Lord, I ask that You would bring them comfort and peace during this time. Thank you for the first responders and rescue workers who are selflessly working to rescue and help these individuals. Heavenly Father, I lift up each request left in the comments to You knowing that You alone are in control. Father, use us for Your glory. Help us draw near to You. In Jesus name, Amen!
Amen❤️
When we think of life..our time line, and then all the generations before and before, and before. It seems crazy that so much HAS changed, yet, nothing is new under the sun. When you strip it down, the same problems are there. Struggling through life to make it make sense of where to get to will make it all alright. That’s why the Hope of the Lord, and being IN His will gives us a fulfillment that we can never get from outside him. He is everlasting. In every generation HE is the answer.
When you are young, you can’t wait to get through school and break out into life! Where you have “control” to do what you want. Then you find out quickly that out of the house, means you have to pay your way and have a job that pays for the things you want and desire. You start the job….that now, is not as easy as just getting up and going to school and having dinner served to you and endless snacks and food on the shelves and in the fridge that somehow “appear!”
Then you dream of marriage and kids, and you wake up tired of marriage and kids. And suddenly they are gone and you are in empty-nester phase. Thankfully grandkids come along and give us some joy again, and occasional trips and retirement.
My point is, of course, that life goes quickly, and then we wonder the purpose of it all. Some are lucky to find God early, some in the middle, and many at the end. But He is eternal, everlasting. The same Yesterday, Today, and Tomorrow. He wants to be in our daily life, our walk, making our paths straight. Oh how often the road was so much harder of my own making. I wish I would have held on to his hand and his ways from the beginning. I would have avoided many unwanted wounds and scaring others. Yes, they helped me grow, but I always need to grow in His way, not the world’s way. Psychology is self-help and self-love and self- growth. We want only the One that knit us in the womb and knows each strand of hair to be the center of it all. (I am loving the new song called “Center.”)
Lord help us to make you the Center of it all. That you give us our daily bread Lord, YOU are the nutrients of life. You give and take as needed, as you see fit, to make us develop a Spirit of Holiness. You are sanctifying us. Let us be open to you, hearing you, and yielding. Help us to know you more and more, as the days turn to years. You are worthy of it all Lord, our hearts, our souls, and minds. We thank you and praise you Lord for it all. You are the ALL. Eternal, forever and ever!! Thank you in Jesus’ name.
Be with my sisters, and keep revealing yourself to them.
I too, wish I would have been a faithful follower in my younger years.
oh sister, what wisdom and sorrow detected in your words today. Brought to mind the book of Ecclesiastes written by a wise king. Life under the sun appears futile. But life under God is purposeful. Everything is so temporary, uncertain, and fleeting! But, there is a HAPPY and JOYFUL eternity to gain, where no pain and sorrows be remembered, death will be no more; grief, crying, and pain will be no more, because the previous things have passed away. May we have the grace to accept the mystery of life with trust, embrace joy without idolizing pleasure, fear and obey God, live simply, enjoy gifts of life and be content. Hugs.
Yes, Amen!! “But life under God is purposeful!” All good stuff friend! Oh how we wish for our younger family and friends.
Years ago there was a radio station that I listened to, I don’t remember which one it was but I do remember that it always opened with a pastor reading Psalm 90:1-2 -“Lord, You have been our dwelling place throughout all generations…from everlasting to everlasting you are God.

If there is one thing that messes up my brain about God, it’s this! God is eternal, everlasting, He always was and always will be. Our minds can not comprehend such an infinite truth – it’s impossible!…and then when I think that we will have eternal life, never ending, living forever and ever -WOW!! It is so hard to imagine – mind boggling, but I believe it because God’s word says it, God says it – and He cannot lie.
.
What a joy, comfort and privilege to know personally the Everlasting God, the same God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob!
—
All praise and glory to the God who has no beginning and no end, to the God who forever is!

Happy Monday Sweet She’s sending hugs and prayers your way! ❤️
I too have always been fascinated by eternity. I used to teach math so think of infinity, going on and on and on and on with no end. Mind blowing!!!
Always present. Without end. For all eternity. From the beginning of time. I think its hard to fully comprehend this nature of our awesome God and that His very being and existence does not fall within the constraints of time. But, also, what a comfort and peace that we know this to be true. Thank you Lord, that you have always been and always will be. Amen
Great song recommendations. A couple additional ones with the title Everlasting come to mind. One be Sovereign Grace and the other by Brian Doerksen.
There’s also a song by Chris Tomlin..called Everlasting God I had forgotten about! I just love music, it is my soul connection.
I’ve always been fascinated with this concept. God is eternity past-present-future.
“He exists outside of time…”
.
Wow, that just about says it all! Everlasting Father…our God.

A thousand times times I’ve failed
Still your mercy remains
Should I stumble again
Still I’m caught in your grace
Everlasting, your light will shine when all else fades
Never ending, your glory goes beyond all fame
Your will above all else
My purpose remains
The art of losing myself in bringing you praise
Everlasting, your light will shine when all else fades
Never ending, your glory goes beyond all fame
In my heart, in my soul
I give you control
Consume me from the inside out
Let justice and praise
Become my embrace
To love you from the inside out
Everlasting, your light will shine when all else fades
Never ending, your glory goes beyond all fame
And the cry of my heart is to bring you praise
From the inside out
Lord my soul cries out
She I am asking prayer for my former hair stylist. Her 23 year daughter was killed in a hit and run accident at 2:58 a.m. The driver drove off thinking he had struck an animal but later returned to the scene. Her name is Montinque, the mom.
I had been humming the part “Everlasting…your …” for the last 30 minutes trying to put together what the song is! And you put it Tanya! Thank you, lol!! Prayers for this mom. And the moms in Texas. So horrible when you lose a child so quickly. I can’t fathom.
Yes, the moms in Texas!
That’s a new song to me. Qued up to listen next!
Prayers for Montinque and for the driver who did the right thing in going back. Heartbreaking!
Cee Gee the driver too. He was also 23!
O,my goodness,yes,I will pray.
Thank you!
Great song. Thank you for the reminder.
What a tragedy. Have prayed❤️
Praying for Montinque. Oh, how awful! Heavenly Father, draw near to Montinque and her family and pour out your presence and peace over them.
Praying that the everlasting God bends low to comfort Montinque and all who loved her daughter.
Praying for Montinque. ❤️
Lifting up Montinque in prayer! How devastating!
This is so tragic. Praying for Montinque and the driver for peace.

Praying for this dear Mom and the driver and praying over the tragic floods in Texas and all the families involved.

Trust in the LORD forever. The LORD is the Rock. The LORD will keep us safe forever. Isaiah 26:4
It is comforting to know that God will always be here, especially during times like this here in Texas. So many brokenhearted families right now with this devastating flooding. More than 80 people lost their lives in the blink of an eye with still dozens more missing. Many of those lives were young girls who were at a Christian camp and were swept away in the middle of the night while sleeping. A parent’s worst nightmare. Please pray for all those affected by this tragedy that they can have peace that can only be found in our Everlasting God.
Meghan, it is so heart-wrenching. Prayers for all affected by this flood. I have friends with family in that area and pray they are all safe.
.
I heard one man who was interviewed mention ‘faith in Jesus Christ’ as the only way to get through this. He said he has lived there 40 years and never seen damage like this time.
Watching and praying from CO with a sick stomach and aching heart. Know you are all being held, even from afar, before the throne of grace. ❤️
Oh, the beauty of our God who was long before He lovingly hovered over the deep, poised to bring order out of chaos.
Praise to Him who sits above all time and space and all that He has created, but yet chose to love it all. Not just from afar in a distant sort of way, but in a near and intimate way–from the very beginning. He bent low to mold and create humans with His own hands from the dirt He created and breathed His very life in them. Then, after the very humans He created messed up the perfection and goodness of His creation in so many different ways individually and corporately, He stooped low and came down and become like us, wrapped in flesh and bound to the time and space He created, to rescue us, love us, and show us what He’s like.
What a kind, powerful, holy, and loving God the Everlasting God is to us. All praises to Him who was and is and is to come.
Beautifully spoken, Christina! ❤

El Olam — The Everlasting God
–
Before the stars began to shine,
You were already there — divine.
From age to age, from time to time,
You stand eternal, strong, sublime.
You are the Rock that will not move,
A steady hand, a heart that proves
In shifting sand, You still remain,
My faithful God, unchanged by change.
–
You guide me gently through the night,
With wisdom vast and strength and light.
You never tire, You never sleep,
You hold me close, Your promises keep.
–
You see the end before the start,
And speak deep peace into my heart.
No throne can shake, no storm surprise
The One whose rule will never die.
–
My refuge in the flood and flame,
My hiding place,
Elohe Olam — God Ever True,
Forever I will trust in You.
Age to age He’s still the same
“No throne can shake, no storm surprise
The One whose rule will never die.”
.

Isaiah 26:4 AMP
“Trust [confidently] in the Lord forever [He is your fortress, your shield, your banner], For the Lord God is an everlasting Rock [the Rock of Ages].
.
First 2 verses, Rock of Ages, Augustus Toplady, 1776
.
Rock of Ages, cleft for me,
let me hide myself in thee;
let the water and the blood,
from thy wounded side which flowed,
be of sin the double cure;
save from wrath and make me pure.
.
Not the labors of my hands
can fulfill thy law’s demands;
could my zeal no respite know,
could my tears forever flow,
all for sin could not atone;
thou must save, and thou alone.

CEE GEE – amen to yesterday’s comment ❤️
Amen, sister, and what a classic! ❤
It is such wonderful news that our God is the Alpha and the Omega – the one who is, who was, and who is to come!! Yet somedays the tragedies in the world and our own family are heavy. Psalm 90 goes on to say, “So teach us to number our days that we may get a heart of wisdom.” And “Satisfy us in the morning with Your steadfast love, that we may rejoice and be glad all our days.”
Father, give us wisdom and joy as we go about our day today!
❤️

Hallelujah! Amen!
Everlasting… What a word!
.
I mean, something that goes on and on and on and on…
.
Then add one of the best names ever.. GOD..
.
EVERLASTING GOD..
.
I don’t know about you, but my heart sings. My feet are feeling the tingle or is it the beat of a forever God who has been.. is.. and will always be.
.
He was there in Genesis, loving and forgiving, through the Old Testerment forgiving some more, protecting, saving, a whole lot of mercy and grace and New testament, showing us Who He was, and bringing us the Hope we needed and required to make us right, through the ages. The lives of my people from way back when, to my people now, me.. He has and is here in these days of our lives.. same God in Genesis, same God now, never changing, always the same yesterday, today tomorrow..
.
EVERLASTING GOD, with His Everlasting love and grace and mercy, His Everlasting arms that holds us together in times of need. He is and has been with us since day one and will forever be..
.
BUT GOD.
.
AMEN.
.
