Dorcas Restored to Life

Open Your Bible

Acts 9:32-43, Psalm 36:9, Mark 5:21-43

Miracles are beautiful. I still remember the first one I experienced: My fourth grade class’s guinea pig gave birth prematurely and against all odds, one little baby lived. She was the size of a jelly bean, but we were in awe, and our class agreed to name her Miracle Faith. Her little life drew us closer together.

Maybe you’ve also longed for a miracle, and—dare I say—one of greater significance than a class pet. We’ve all ached for healing in one way or another. Like the widows who loved Dorcas, we may long to see a dark situation transformed by the light. Like Aeneas who endured years of long-suffering, we may feel forgotten and disappointed. The miracle has not come and yet we remain, hurt and confused, thinking, “What do we do with this?”

In our hurt and confusion, we can forget that there is more at stake than the outcome we are praying for.

We serve a God who uses miracles to heal not only our bodies but also our souls, and the souls of those connected to us. Aeneas, Dorcas, and their communities were not just witnesses of physical miracles; they were witnesses of Jesus’s saving power. When Aeneas heard “Jesus Christ heals you” and made his bed, his body was healed and all of Lydda and Sharon surrendered their lives to the Lord in response (Acts 9:34–35). Through Dorcas’s miracle, she was restored to life and many people in Joppa believed in God (v.42). In the Gospel of Mark, the bleeding woman’s physical affliction ceased and she received a new identity in Christ after years of living alone, unclean and shunned (Mark 5:34).

It can be tempting to believe we are alone in our suffering as we wait, longing for a miracle. Our timing, our knowledge, and our plans are certainly not the Lord’s, and it won’t always make sense to us. But we can know this: Our longing is not ultimately for the miracle. It’s for the one the miracle points to—Jesus, the wellspring of life and the light of the world (Psalm 36:9).

These miracles in these stories point to the living God who delights in making us spiritually alive and restored for eternity. Whether or not the miracle we pray for comes, may we recognize the miracle that has already changed our lives forever—the salvation of our soul. In Christ, we too have received what we were most longing for.

I somehow skipped this reading and am coming to it at the end of the session but most interesting is that it’s 7pm and I’m lying in bed tearful in the “dark” in more ways than one. This passage and verbiage literally speaks to my heart with perfect timing. Gods timing. God is. Good all the time. Although I wish I could walk with him and hear his voice and words of advice——- this is the next best thing. Perfect timing ✅❤️

This really encouraged me to be even more mindful of praying for my marriage. My husband is very depressed and is not working and engages very little with others. It is so difficult to watch because there is nothing that I can do but pray for restoration and change in mindset. Would love prayer from others too. That I lean into God and trust in his timing

Praying for you both. I don’t know if you have but I feel God saying to lay hands on him and pray.

The waiting is so hard. As the New Year approached, I started praying the The Lord would help me to wait well, and trust His timing. My daughter doesn’t have a relationship with Jesus. If you asked her, she’d tell you she does, but there’s no evidence of that relationship in her life. My daughter has been a defiant, difficult teenager for years – and it wears you down. When it started around the age of 13, someone told me she’ll be a different person in just 2-3 years…just wait and see. I thought, I can do this…something to look forward to. That wasn’t true for my daughter (she’s almost 20) it wasn’t just a middle school attitude. She is disrespectful, breaks our hearts with the decisions she makes, ignores the people at our church that reach out to her, and embarrasses us often…she was brought up in a good loving home, one where our focus is on Jesus, with two parents who have a great relationship. I pray for the miracle of salvation her every single day.

I’ve learned over the years that she’s going to do what she’s going to do. It’s hard as a mother because our intentions are so pure, we just want to protect our children from this horrible, broken world that we live in. And for me personally, I parented out of fear many times, worried over what she was doing or the bad decisions she was making, because of her track record.

This past year, I have seen glimpses of God working in her life and it’s an encouragement to know the He seeks her continually and is working all the time, even when I can’t see it. I praise Him that He’s sovereign over all things, and I do believe and trust, that one day she will turn her life over to Jesus.

Please keep praying for Matt. We are told that he had a good day yesterday. We haven’t heard anything today, but are still praying for 100% healing, if it is His will. My husband can’t travel to CA, either, because of his eye. (He has altitude restrictions.) I asked him if he wanted to drive out, and that isn’t an option right now, either. Paul’s eye is a little better every day. He is still sleeping in a recliner, but at least we are in the same room! He has another post-op appt on 1/26 (and he can drive us there!)

My sisters in law is called Dorcas.. a wonderful woman of God..Just saying..
    .
The song by Joe Barnes of Maverick city, came to mind, thinking about miracles.. He sings of the miracles of life and how frequently and actually we experience them daily. From waking in the morning to food on the table to forgiveness to grace that carries us daily, to redemption, to air in our lungs.. a million little miracles.
We could miss these as they are small/little and yet.. looking for the bigger ones that we says God hear us and yet God still hear us in the unspoken..
    .
    BUT GOD..
We are never alone no matter how we think, or the questions we may ask ourself in the confusion of “what do we do with this?”
The miracles we may ask for may not appear as we expect them, but Father God does not withhold from us, not really.
Whatever we require but cannot do in our own strength is a miracle when it happens or comes to fruition.,!
I’ve been trying to write this since morning, so maybe a tad waffle..
    .
I just want to say that God will never let us down..
    .
    Amen.
    .
    Sleep well dear hearts,,❤️

What a beautiful story, thank you LAUREN! Such a sweet and incredible experience, thank you for sharing, at fourth grade and being able to witness such a miracle, I can’t imagine what that must have built for your faith and your classmates. Praise God that we got to hear it today.
    .
In today’ Scriptures, what stood out to me was the sternness of Jesus by putting out the people who mocked and laughed. Before a miracle happened, Jesus removed/ cleansed the setting. An important step that should not be ignored. He “put them all out” before raising Jairus’s daughter. “Please leave the room” in the midst of someone laughing. Jesus allows only Peter, James, John, the child’s father and mother. Jesus has his inner circle. Notice, not all 12 have access. Again, God is Love, but does not mean equal access for every person/ disciples. Why? He knows the heart of men. Ouch. This pattern was seen also on the Mount of Transfiguration, only Peter, James, John (Mark 9:2), at Gethsemane again just the inner three (Mark 14:33). What and whom do I have to “put out” for the Lord to raise something dead in my life?- we must ask. “He did not do many mighty works there, because of their unbelief” Matthew 13:58. In Mark 6:5-6 says, “And He could do no mighty work there, except that He laid his hands on a few sick people and healed them. And He marveled because of their unbelief.” So the problem is not Jesus’ power to heal, He is not incapable of healing, but the unbelief of the people. Matthew 12:38–39 says, “Teacher, we wish to see a sign from you.” But He answered them, “An evil and adulterous generation seeks for a sign, but no sign will be given except the sign of the prophet Jonah.” Miracles are not given to satisfy skepticism. And in John 12:37, “Though he had done so many signs before them, they still did not believe in Him”. With the epileptic boy, the father asked Jesus, “I believe; help my unbelief”. It’s mixed faith, a real problem we can struggle with.
    .
BUT GOD, all hope is not lost,… the Oscar goes to… drum roll… the woman with the issue of blood (12 years long, broke and exhausted, considered unclean, severe iron deficiency and more), and she was INSTANTLY healed when she touched His garment. How?What made her the big winner? Jesus gave a hint here, “daughter, your faith has made you well”. Can one take their healing by approaching God? Did she take her healing without Him knowing? Did He go around asking people for He felt power coming out of Him? Did her faith fulfil a spiritual law pre-ordained and thus automatically dispense the result? Yes. The woman acted in silent, trembling faith. He asked, “Who touched my garment?” or, “Who touched me in faith?” What good news! This is amazing news. If this woman stumbled upon the secret of healing by being proactive like that, and Scriptures recorded the how, what great hope for us.
    .
The answer to miracles is FAITH, not mixed faith, not one blended with unbelief and skepticism, but the pure faith of a child (just like LAUREN’s story). How do children trust? With humility (they have no status or merit to trade anything), no doubt (without questions am I worthy of this, or overthink), with utter dependence, with trust (no control of God for the outcome of when, how, just trust). God is able. God is more than able, “Now all glory to God, who is able, through his mighty power at work within us, to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think” Ephesians 3:20. “For all the promises of God are “Yes” in Christ. And so through Him, our “Amen” is spoken to the glory of God” (2 Corinthians1:20).
    .
May we cultivate the childlike faith for bigger and bolder things. Sometimes this is the trickiest part. May we discern between presumption and genuine faith, and “put out” the mockers in the room (include social media space), and their echoing voices in our head that will hinder the setting of a miracle. Remove the mockers and their influence. Take thoughts captive to obey Christ.
    .
“Do not fear. Just believe”. Like a child. “Truly I tell you, unless you CHANGE and BECOME like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. Therefore, whoever takes the lowly position of this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven” (Matthew 18:2-4). Be blessed dear sisters.

    1. searching says:

childlike faith, with honest prayer and introspection. “What and whom do I have to “put out” for the Lord to raise something dead in my life?- we must ask.”

  20. Wendy B says:

These verses in Acts 9 really stand out to me….WOW. ALL turned to the Lord. That is just amazing to me. Everyone there followed after Jesus.

34 Peter said to him, “Aeneas, Jesus Christ heals you. Get up and make your bed,”A and immediately he got up.h 35 So all who lived in Lydda and Sharoni saw him and turned to the Lord.

Miracles. This can be a tough one for many to wrestle with including myself. I think its safe to say that we all know and have prayed for a miracle and the outcome was not what we hoped for. In my own life, I have experienced a miracle – the fact that I am here is a miracle in itself. This thought from the devotional rings very true in my life, “We serve a God who uses miracles to heal not only our bodies but also our souls, and the souls of those connected to us.” I am not aware of anyone who came to faith in Jesus because the Lord saved my life, but because of what He did, many where encouraged and their faith was bolstered and grew because of it. I have had no reluctance or holding back from anyone, non-Christian friends, medical staff that I believe God saved my life and that He is the One carrying me as I know live with a reoccurance of cancer. I do believe that even though I have cancer again, I must steward this story well and the Lord is at work to heal souls through my story in His way and in His time. I trust the words in scripture. I know He still heals and I believe He can heal me. Is it hard to wait? Yes. There are days that both the weight and waiting is debilitating and paralyzing and my resolve wears so thin. I’ve just actually had a couple of very discouraging, down cast days. I cry, I plead and I struggle. But I am reminded often and I know my God is able and my hope remains in Him – the fountain of life (Psalm 36:9). I have experienced it in the past and He can do it again. And in the waiting we can know the assurance of greatest miracle of salvation. I have to trust that He is working in ways beyond my understanding, pointing to the promises of hope in Him, to salvation and live in a way that brings honor and glory to Him in the waiting. Soli Deo Gloria ✝️

This paragraph reminded me again of Natalie Grant’s song that I have shared recently. ” Help me want the healer more than the healing…”

I saw this application note on the Mark passage (from The NIV Application Bible):
“… Faith can be imperfect; it can be bold; it can be halting; it can be brave; it can be laced with fear and trepidation. What counts for it to be effective is for it to be directed rightly to Jesus and God.

Faith is embodied in action. Faith is something that can be seen, like the men digging through a roof to bring their friend to Jesus. It kneels, begs, and reaches out to touch. It does not wait to see if the waters will divide before stepping out. It steps out, trusting God to do what is needed. Faith is spurred on by desperation, trusting that Jesus is sufficient to meet whatever need one has, standing firm in the belief of Jesus’ resurrection power.”

  22. Rhonda J. says:

Goodness! I feel like I have “replied” so much- do I need to comment?! HA..ya’ll know I always have more to say! My mind went quickly to these scriptures shown on “The Chosen!” I think they show them so well, especially the bleeding lady! She has such HOPE….could this man HEAL me…could this be the thing?!! The desire to try!
When you suffer with something for years and try every doctor and every therapy, well, it is defeating. It is expensive, it is time, it is disappointment. I know- I have been through it for 21 years. You think…well, maybe this is the Doctor, maybe this IS the treatment that will help. After all—it very well could be! BUT- I just give it to God. I am too tired to think on my own, lol. To try to care. To hope in treatment. I know the great Physician. He gives me what I need when I need it. Of course, we just had this conversation in my group, it doesn’t mean we don’t use what God has given us- good doctors and good solutions and therapies. AND mainly good choices for our Health. We have to take responsibility. The response that God knows when I’m gonna die anyway, and is up to him- is not a license for bad choices. (we were talking about smoking and my dad saying…God’s in charge of me and how long I live!) No- I believe he might have had something better in store for us, but with our “unsmart” choices we will get different results. My dad for sure is not liking his struggle to breath for 30 years because of what smoking has done. I am not liking my scarred up skin from my tanning bed and sun scorching choices from teen years. Some things we can help by choices like those fore-mentioned, eating well, and exercising. That is why there is so much chronic illness today.
Passages like today show us that Jesus does heal. It is not gone and over for the days of the disciples. It is for now! The song by Brandon Lake captures it perfectly “To Good Not to Believe!” If you have not seen miracles for yourself, I know you have heard of them. But honestly–I think we would all run to Jesus for the healing (miracle) and just like those stiff-necked Isaraelites, we come to our next obstacle and complain. :(
He wants to build something lasting in us to hold on to. Faith, repentance, trust, obedience, long-suffering. And to look to Heaven and eternal life!! Amen!

Our verse in Chronic Pain Group is 2 Corinthians 4:17 “For our light addictions, which are but for a moment, are working for us a far greater exceeding and eternal weight of glory!!”
This time is short compared to our eternal lasting home with Jesus! Don’t waste your time on earthly things, even our earthly bodies!! Instead gather up people for heaven!! Plant those seeds…water those seeds!! The fields are ripe for Harvest!!! Tell them they need Jesus!! Invite them to church. Start conversations! Go and tell!! What is God trying to use you for despite your situation?!
I would love to hear if you have chronic pain to start your own group! As She’s- God wants to USE all of us for His good purposes!!

    1. Cee Gee says:

      Another good word, Rhonda!

      This question came ti mind:

Do we(I) love Him enough to love Him and commune with Him joyously WITHOUT the healing?

      1. Cee Gee says:

        *healing/miracle.

      2. Rhonda J. says:

YES– that is the question in deed! I need that on a banner for class!

    2. Mercy says:

Amen, God is our Healer and we have an important part to play with caring for our body the temple of the Holy Spirit, by eating right, doing exercises, rest well, nourish the spirit, soul and body based on the wisdom God gives. It’s a lot of work lol. Praying for your dad’s lungs and smoking habit to ease/stop.

  24. Traci Gendron says:

I always dread talk of miracles. But Lauren helped me to see things differently.
    .
Whether or not the miracle we pray for comes, may we recognize the miracle that has already changed our lives forever—the salvation of our soul. In Christ, we too have received what we were most longing for.

    1. Rhonda J. says:

I, too, think of your dread every time as well that it comes up for you!! But, your story has given all of us such enrichment. Even your struggle with healing. I too, would be mad and hurt, which again, is good for those in your shoes to know. I still believe God is going to use you in a powerful way to help other mothers in the drenches now. Oh how they need you dear Traci to make it through. I am going to pray that this comes to fruition in ways we can’t imagine, but in God’s perfect way. Hugs always.

  26. Sharon Jersey Girl says:

Helen Pennington asked the question, “What have I seen in the past that I can pull into increased faith for now?” The first thing that came to mind was this…
My youngest son had been with his girlfriend for 5 years. Two of those 5 they were engaged. They were to be married June 28, 2025. Neither my husband or I felt this was a good match, but how do you convince your 27 year old of that? So we prayed – fervently that if it was not God’s will, He would prevent the wedding from happening. I poured my heart out to God day after day, feeling more and more uncomfortable as the wedding day approached.
Last February, just four months before the wedding the bride to be called it off. My first reaction – I was stunned, shocked! I knew God had the power to stop this wedding but I never in a million years thought He would – but He did! And now, I can’t stop praising and thanking Him! That was my miracle! Only God. That answer has given me the faith and hope to believe that one day He will do a greater miracle and bring my two sons back to Him. And the statement from Lauren Cox today, ” Our timing, our knowledge, and our plans are certainly not the Lord’s, and it won’t always make sense to us.” Is a reminder to me that it is all in God’s time, not mine.
    .
→Ecclesiastes 3:1 – There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens:

    →Psalm 115:3 – Our God is in heaven;
    he does whatever pleases him.

→Isaiah 55:8-9 – “For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,” declares the Lord. “As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.

    Happy Monday She’s!

    1. Rhonda J. says:

Yes! Amen! Hard I imagine because of the hurt your son experienced. I hope he is better. My son didn’t have a wedding planned, except probably in his head, but his gf broke up with him after 6yrs. He had to move out of their apartment from a year of living together. My heart broke for him, but (of course), he is with someone now that he couldn’t have imagined is the perfect one for him! He is happier than ever!

    2. Lauren Cox says:

Thank you for pointing to these scriptures! All so good. I’m praying alongside you that God would show Himself to your sons in a mighty way!

    3. Lisa H says:

Nice to hear, as Paul Harvey would have said, “the rest of the story.” Not that his story isn’t still unfolding, but I remember this from last year but didn’t realize you’d been praying for that outcome for so long!

    4. Tina says:

God ALWAYS has our best inerest at heart..
For us to witness its a miracle..

    7. B says:

Praise God for the miracle and your testimony to it!!
Makes me think of the hope we have for answered prayers!!
Also makes me think of the lost we pray for. God can do anything, but if our prodigals do not choose Jesus (God gives us free will), they will be lost. I have a lot of anxiety over this…

Today’s reading could not have been more timely.I think about all the prayers that we as mothers have prayed for our children, and I’m sure it would collectively be an uncountable number. I have just prayed for all of our children and will continue to do so daily. I do believe we will hear testimonies from our collective, intentional prayers, just like Tyler Staton did with his middle school classmates.

I so relate to longing for a miracle which has not come and asking God, “What do I do with this?” Chela was diagnosed with Addisons disease at age 16. It’s an autoimmune disease that affects the adrenal gland and hers does not produce cortisol, so she needs a hormone replacement and takes meds daily. The doctor who diagnosed her was not nice and scared her, leaving both of us with some PTSD. Praise God she has been doing fine with the medication and really no one would know she has this. She just had her annual checkup and now her thyroid levels are low, not enough to medicate but she has to be rechecked in 6 months. BC of her OCD she fixates on having this and yesterday it all came out claiming she “hates herself, hates that she is not normal, she doesn’t want to date and have to explain this, she has told none of her college friends, hides her meds, doesn’t want to live with it, doesn’t want to come to terms with it because that would mean accepting it, sees no future for herself, is freaking out about potentially needing thyroid meds, is obsessing about what to eat or not eat, and on and on.” The worst a mother could hear. She has NO hope for herself. The logical side of me knows that there are far worse DX but she can’t see it. Nor does she want to hear what I have to say or listen to reason. This girl is stubborn! It’s almost like she would rather live life miserable than seek help (although in her mind no one can help her). This is such a stronghold for her. I left her apartment and cried all the way home, feeling so helpless. I cried going to sleep and woke up crying. I’m crying as I write this. God has given us numerous promises, my husband visions of her healing – but like the bleeding woman today, “it just seems to get worse”. This line in the devo got me: “ It can be tempting to believe we are alone in our suffering as we wait, longing for a miracle. Our timing, our knowledge, and our plans are certainly not the Lord’s, and it won’t always make sense to us.” More than anything she need to hope that only Jesus can give! When I pray for her miracle, I always pray that it would be what makes her surrender to him. This is a big step for me to even write the word Addisons, the doc scared me too and I don’t often share. Thank you for reading ladies. I needed to get this off my chest.

    1. Rhonda J. says:

I am feeling I need to create a list for Healing Prayers as well!
But, and we still can…but honestly we ALL have issues. We can never be perfectly great…for long. If it’s not physical, it is mental, if not mental, emotional. It tells us that life in our human/ worldly form is not our heavenly form—Hallelujah! Would anyone hope for heaven? My messed up back REMINDS me the hope of heaven. Our suffering reminds us the tears will be wiped away.
Does this help your daughter-no. Does it make me stop praying for miracle healing for my back-no. But it does realign me, putting my thoughts and trust, and faith, back to the Lord. Knowing my Lord sees and knows all. He wants our trust.

Leave your name if you need a Healing Miracle for a physical ailment please!

      1. Rhonda J. says:

I hope this didn’t come across at minimizing Chelea’s hurts and struggles!! It is HARD to have something so challenging like this! I had all kinds of issues with asthma (not being able to run and play with the other kids going into atacks) and my crooked spine. I PRAY for healing for your girl. And for God to give you just the things to do and say as a mother!!
Makes me also think of our dear sister Traci that knows all too well. She sure is our warrior Mother!!

        1. Traci Gendron says:

Thank you Rhonda..That means a lot to be known and heard. I agree with your comment. I pray Chela can accept what has been laid on her. My Tanner would always say, “It is what it is.” Such wisdom from a young person. I think Chela’s friends will learn and accept her having a disease. And if not, they are not the right friends. Keeping a secret is hard. I believe Chela would have so much more joy in life if she can accept and be open about her illness.

          1. Cee Gee says:

Absolute wisdom, Traci, and experience talking! You are a blessing! ❤

    2. Sharon Jersey Girl says:

Oh Tami, my heart breaks for you and for Chela. I thought she was doing so much better. I will join you in prayer for her asking God for that miracle in her life. What you can not get across to her, God can. Please don’t lose hope. God loves her SO much, He loves our children more than we ever could. ❤️

    3. Lynne from Alabama says:

Thank you for sharing this, Tami! I know your momma heart is breaking! I have been praying daily for Chela (and some of our other prodigals) for some time but had no idea of the extent of her needs. I will continue to pray for her and for you, sweet sister! ❤️

    4. Carol J Mylin says:

Lifting you and Chela to Jesus, Tami…this all sounds so difficult… But God! Ephesians 2:4, “But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us.”
May His Loving Mercy flood your heart and soul, filling you with Hope and Peace!

    5. Wendy B says:

Tami…thank you for sharing. What a great burden for your Momma heart. When our kids hurt it is so very difficult. Praying that Chelea will experience that presence of the Lord and be reminded of hope in Him in ways that are undeniable in her life and ultimately praying for healing. Hugs for you

    6. Therese says:

      Praying for you and Chela.

    7. Cee Gee says:

Oh, Tami, this is hard! Praying for God to put just the right person in Chela’s path- one who she senses is trustworthy, compassionate, and encouraging. I agree that she needs to get out from under the burden of secrecy. Did she get a 2nd opinion? Just thinking another doctor may be able to minimize the emotional trauma the first doctor contributed to- give her a less bleak outlook. ❤

    8. Lisa H says:

Praying, Tami. Wish we could get coffee and chat about it, with a big hug.

    9. Norma Nashold says:

Tami, praying with you that Chela will lean into the Lord and know Him.

    10. Mercy says:

I am so sorry to hear about the situation. You are such a good mother. I must say you are such a good mother, you love your daughter so much. She is so blessed to have you. I pray you surrender her fully to God, and the pain, confusion. There are things you are not meant to carry, but God alone will do His part in removing the thorns, the rocks, the fearful/anxiety mindset. He loves Chela so much. Be blessed Tami. The Lord is the ever present Help in times of trouble. Hang on to hope ❤️. We are praying for you and CHELA. Much love.

    11. B says:

So sorry you and Chela are going through this. Prayers for peace and comfort for you, and healing, hope, peace and especially salvation for Chela.

    12. Indiana Elaine says:

Tami, so sorry you and your daughter had a bad experience with the dr. I had a similar experience and never went back. It delayed my diagnosis, but was worth the wait. I have thyroid disease and the thyroid that is out of wack can contribute to anxiety. I have been taking thyroid meds for nearly 30 years. For me the miracle is that there is medication that makes me feel better. Another miracle was finding a Dr who knew how to treat thyroid disorders. I could not get off the couch. It took a couple of years to get regulated, but now I feel great. I am thankful that there are two little pills that help me feel better.

      1. Rhonda J. says:

Amen! Praise for that! I am so thankful for the medicine that helps me function!

Which leads to a funny, that was the precursor to the smoking and dying story I said my dad used to say. One of our guys in Pain group said he told his doctor he feels just GREAT!! And the doctor answered…that’s because all the pills I have you on!! lol. We laughed. But yeah, there’s a fine line of using good judgement!

    13. searching says:

Praying for you and for Chela. Thank you for trusting us to listen and pray for this situation. May the Lord lift you up, give you wisdom in encouraging Chela and perhaps showing her different perspectives (though that understanding may come with age). Praying for Chela, that her fears would be overcome by the Lord’s love and the hope she can have in him, that she would gain truth in these health situations which might help her get a handle on things and be able to focus on facts rather than fears.

    14. Tami says:

I pray for her to gain some perspective – this is NOT the worst diagnosis. She will live a long, healthy life. She just can’t see it. The scales of her eyes need to be removed and the stronghold this has over her broken! Thank you for all the prayers! I am sitting here with tremendous gratitude for all of you! My day was better for sharing with all of you. And Indiana Elaine, I toll am greatly for the 2 little pills that keep her healthy!

  29. Melissa Lance says:

    Amen❤️

  30. Tami says:

GM ladies. Here is the list of our prodigals and some verses to claim for them. If anyone would like to add to the list, leave it in the comments below my name.

Acts 2:39 For the promise is for you and for your children, and for all who are far off, as many as the Lord our God will call.”

Acts 26:18:… open their eyes, so they may turn from darkness to light and from the power of Satan to God. Then they will receive forgiveness for their sins and be given a place among God’s people, who are set apart by faith in me.

Jeremiah 31:16-17  But now this is what the Lord says: “Do not weep any longer, for I will reward you,” says the Lord. “Your children will come back to you from the distant land of the enemy.17 There is hope for your future,” says the Lord.“Your children will come again to their own land.”

Proverbs 20:7 The righteous who walks in his integrity— blessed are his children after him.

    1. Sharon Jersey Girl says:

Tami, thank you for sharing this list and for including my sons. I will print it out for sure. Also for the verses – just last week my dear friend shared Jeremiah 31:16-17 in reference to our prodigal adult children. To me, this passage twice in one week – is a wink from God saying, I’m here I’m listening!

      1. Tami says:

        I love when that happens!

    2. Bessie H says:

Thank you, Tami. Would you add Bessie praying for Ben to find the Lord? Thank you

      1. Diane says:

Tami could you please add Diane praying for Jon, Keith, Roger, Mike thank you all so much for your prayers. I will be praying for all of you also.

    3. Jane K says:

Please add my daughter, Leah, to the list. Bless you, Tami and everyone who is committed to praying!

    4. Sandy Lynn says:

Tami, I am late to your Sat post.
Thank you so much for doing this.
This year I have committed to stepping up my prayers for my prodigal and have come to realize there are so many of us with prodigals who have walked away from God. Now seeing this list, I am resolved even more. It is an honor to join with others and lift our loved ones before the throne of our Lord.
Please add my son Andy to your list. ❤️

    5. AliceV says:

I hold on to this verse as I pray for my prodigal children… 2 Peter 3:8–9 (CSB): 8 Dear friends, don’t overlook this one fact: With the Lord one day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years like one day. 9 The Lord does not delay his promise, as some understand delay, but is patient with you, not wanting any to perish but all to come to repentance.

God does not wish that ANY should perish, but ALL to come to repentance. I pray this Scripture as I pray for my adult children.

    6. B says:

Please add M&B to your list.
      Thank you, sweet Tami.

      1. B says:

And as JANE K said, bless you Tami, and all who are praying! ❤️

    7. Cheryl Read says:

Amen! Praying now for each name!

    8. Susan B says:

Please ad Tammy and Amy to the list.

    9. Carla A Nienhuis says:

      Carla – Cierra and Stephen

    10. Lisa H says:

Please add Cora’s name. ❤️ Thank you for this list and for the scriptures.

    11. KimberK says:

Thanks for doing this Tami! I am not an active commenter but do read everyones comments and they have blessed me immensely. Please add Megan and Randy to this list! We are starting a series on Prayer at my church, and pastor challenged us to be bold this week in our prayers. I am excited to pray for everyone’s prodigals by name!

    12. Adrienne says:

Thank you, Tami, for comprising this very long list. With that said, can I have you add to it, please? Raelynn, Tyler & Tracy…

    13. Leala says:

Please add Ryan and AJ and Sam to the list. Thank you.

  31. Kim J. G. says:

It’s hard to share this truth with anyone who is hurting at the moment. It is a true statement of faith that we have the miracle of salvation, making us alive and restored for eternity .

  32. Aimee D-R says:

    Amen

  33. Danielle B says:

Lord God May we never lose sight of the greatest miracle of all, Jesus death and resurrection for our sins. May we boldly share this miracle and the many others you do in our lives. I’m beyond grateful for the various miracles you did in my life last year and most importantly the growth that came through them as well!

    1. Rhonda J. says:

Yes we Praise God with you Danielle!

I think that is the WHY we need to keep sharing our “troubles” IN/DURING the storm with our She’s here, so we can all see the miracles when they happen. So many don’t want to tell others what they are going through. Or we don’t like to tell our story until we get to the good chapter of healing/miracles/resolve! BUT it is actually MORE impactful when we share in the midst of the storm. Let people know we are in the valley, in the pit! And give people the privilege to pray with you!!

Journal your story…during the story…each chapter. You will be able to remember the waiting, the praying, the doubt…all of it, which is so important for others to hear!

      1. Traci Gendron says:

        True!!

      2. Danielle B says:

Yes Rhonda, you are one of multiple prompts to share the testimony of my last two years, which I began writing after finishing reading Tired of Trying. I need to review, but I hope to share soon in the FB group.

    2. Cee Gee says:

      Amen! ❤

  34. Meagan C says:

Starting this week with a thankful heart. I am so thankful for our God of miracles, our God who sees us and still loves us and desires us to be whole! Thank you Jesus!

    1. Cee Gee says:

Yes, our salvation is His best and biggest miracle!
      Praise Him, praise Him! ❤

  35. Searching says:

Reading about Peter … do we pray with faith or with doubt? Faithfully believing God loves and cares for us and He can heal, restore and provide? Or doubting whether God hears us and if He does hear us, is He listening?
Also reminded, am I praying for my will to align with God’s?
    .
    Excerpt from HRT:
Being a disciple is following Christ’s example through Christ’s power. We are a disciple when we do what Jesus did, relying on His power working through us. And just as it happened for Peter, the foundation of discipleship is an active relationship with Jesus. The more time we spend with Christ in His Word, in prayer, or serving alongside His Church, the more our lives and habits will align with His. Our relationship with Jesus is latent with transformative power. And as Jesus made Himself available to Peter, He makes Himself available to us.
    .
SUE DALOS – good to see you!

    1. Rhonda J. says:

OH SO agreeing with that HRT truth!! We have to be walking and living for God to align and see and taste!! It doesn’t happen truly without an all in…building stone upon stone relationship!! Reading the word faithfully is imperative in knowing and growing in him. Then faith and trust come about as second nature.

I too was HAPPY to see you GRAMMSIE SUE!! We need an update on Steve and finances/business.

    2. Cee Gee says:

The HRT devo meshes so well with the Lifeway SS lesson we had yesterday! So much good stuff!

Good prompts shared by you! ❤

  36. Sally B. says:

This statement from our devotion today is cause for deep reflection: “But we can know this: Our longing is not ultimately for the miracle. It’s for the one the miracle points to—Jesus, the wellspring of life and the light of the world”. How often do the things I pray for point to temporal outcomes (heal the sick, provide the job, mend the relationship); when our deepest need is spiritual healing that lasts for eternity?

Father, please help my focus be on pointing others to the eternal life that only You can offer instead of a temporary fix here on earth! Amen.

    1. Libby K says:

Same, Sally! I found today’s reading very helpful. Thank you for sharing!

    2. Rhonda J. says:

YES! I always remember this lesson! The healing miracles were, in part, to get people’s attention and bring awareness to our real ailment…separation from God! The situation with the man lowered through the roof tells us this.

“Deeper Needs: Sermons often point out that while the man wanted physical healing, Jesus addressed his deeper spiritual need (forgiveness) first, illustrating that felt needs aren’t always primary needs. “

      1. Norma Nashold says:

thank you Rhonda! how true, deeper need is Jesus

    3. Cee Gee says:

Our SS lesson covered this point well yesterday! ❤

  37. Kelly (NEO) says:

The sermon at our church yesterday was on Christ, our Healer. Matthew 8:1-4, Jesus is willing to bring healing, do we dare to ask in faith that He is willing? Can we trust Him to bring it in the way He sees fit?
    .
Lord, we look to You to manifest Your healing power in the bodies of Your saints. We trust You to bring that healing in the way that brings You the most glory.
    .
For people who have not yet placed their faith in Jesus, we pray that a healing miracle will turn their hearts toward You for salvation.
    .
Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
    .
    Amen and amen.
    .

    1. Searching says:

Amen and amen. praying for salvation for so many, that all would be willing to turn to the Lord.

    2. Jane K says:

Joining you, Kelly, in this prayer for healing, for increased faith, and for the salvation of those who don’t know the Lord Jesus. Amen!

    3. Rhonda J. says:

Your first couple of questions are something I look at and think of often since I lead a weekly “Enduring Chronic Pain” group at church! We usually have the faith, but in his way, his timing is hard. But hence the name…”enduring!” It IS all on his timing, and His perfect will for us. We have had healing, we have had loss, and we have us that keeps waiting patiently!
For myself…I never really asked for healing until coming to this church 4 years ago. I have always thought of God USING me with my crooked spine and chronic pain as such a blessing!! My whole career was birthed and blessed because of what I experienced first hand and my love of exercise. But PT’s and Trainers don’t know what they don’t physically experience themselves. I had the advantage! Thank you Lord!! I would not have started a Chronic Pain group to help and edify, and pray with others in a mighty and powerful way if I had been healed years ago! Joni Erikson Tada would not have helped hundreds of thousands of wheel bound quadriplegics if she would have received healing. So in my opinion it is so important to look to God to empower us and be used HOW He sees fit!! There is great blessing in our suffering. We focus on Him in a way that healthy people do not.

    4. Cee Gee says:

      Amen, Kelly! ❤

  38. Alana Anderson says:

    Amen❤️

  39. Erica Chiarelli says:

I’m thankful that even if we don’t always see the miracle, our God still does miracles. He still heals..but most importantly, He still saves!!

  40. Helen Pennington says:

I wonder if Peter had increased faith that day because it was so similar to Jairus’ daughter? What have I seen in the past that I can pull into increased faith for now? The first thing that comes to my mind is that I saw God bring my Dad to Him in the most unexpected and beautiful way after years of praying…I’ve seen it before, I have faith to pray to see it again for my brother. Please God…
What is it for you today? X

    1. Kelsey Gall says:

      This is encouraging, thank you

    2. Searching says:

I love this testimony of your Dad coming to Christ, God’s way … unexpected and beautiful. I was probably a teenager when an aunt said she’d had a dream or vision of my dad that showed him serving the Lord. Did I doubt her? Totally, yet he did turn to Him maybe 15-20 years after that.
In my own experience, what I remember when doubt tries to creep in is a time of absolutely clear leading by the Holy Spirit. I was unwillingly led to someone with information that stopped me from a decision that would have resulted in professional disaster. Recalling it brings renewed thankfulness that He saw me and stepped in to protect me when I had no idea there was danger.

      1. Cee Gee says:

Oh, what a testimony, Searching! ❤

    3. Cee Gee says:

Helen, the He Reads Truth devo by Colin Ross speaks to that today- examples. ❤

      1. Helen Pennington says:
