Matthew 12:46-50, Hebrews 2:5-18, Romans 4:13-16, Galatians 3:27-29, Romans 8:12-17, Ephesians 3:1-12, Romans 5:12-17

Start each day by reading the passages listed above. Then use the summary and reflection provided here to guide discussion around the daily reading.

The promises of inheritance, legacy, and place were never meant for Israel alone. Instead, through Israel, God planned to bring the nations to Himself. Through Jesus Christ, all believers—regardless of bloodline—are the children of Abraham by faith and belong to the family of God. We share in His inheritance as coheirs to the kingdom and the gifts of the Father.

Think back over the last five weeks of reading. What does it mean for you to be a part of God’s spiritual family because of Jesus?

What it means for me to be in the spiritual family of God through Jesus is that, one of the signs that I noticed is, I start having a burden for my sisters in Christ. It hurts me to read the struggles that any of you dear she’s presented. And it’s the love of God that flows through me to you. It grieves me and it’s a burden that I long for your victory, that I too can rejoice with you. Because we are of ONE hope, ONE body, ONE Lord, ONE faith. Glory be to HIM. Lifting our sisters up to the ONE Living God of all mercy and grace. With God, ALL THINGS are possible. Be blessed dear sisters.

  6. Adrianne says:

I think it’s awesome that even with all of our sin now and even the terrible sins before Jesus was born, we are saved through our faith in God and Jesus. I think this plan showed us that us humans are both good and bad, but we can be saved. Even though we are saved we do face consequences, as can be seen by a lot of the kings listed in this plan. Ultimately we are saved by the grace of our God and our savior Jesus.

@ ERB – SO good — oh, the love of the Shepherd!!

@ SEARCHING — praying for all your requests, for Matt, surgery, and the requests you lifted up.

@ CEE GEE – I absolutely love that song…. thank you for reminding me! I left the reading this morning and started my workout with Hillsong “I Am Who You Say I Am”

  8. Ashley White says:

Praying! It’s amazing how Satan can use Godly people to confuse you and cause you to misstep and mess up your life. I’m happy that you came to realize all of this before it was too late. Praying for your for guidance & peace.

  9. Teresa Donley says:

The song that immediately came to mind when I thought of what it means to be a part of the family of God is “Come to the Table,” by Sidewalk Prophets. It perfectly states how I feel. I’m broken, but I’m accepted at the table – the table of God. “Come join the sinners who have been redeemed.” Yes! Everyone at that table is a sinner who has been redeemed. Praise God!

We all start on the outside
    The outside looking in
    This is where grace begins
We were hungry we were thirsty
    With nothing left to give
Oh the shape that we were in
Just when all hope seemed lost
Love opened the door for us
He said come to the table
Come join the sinners who have been redeemed
Take your place beside the Savior
Sit down and be set free
    Come to the table
Come meet this mightly crew of misfits
    These liars and these thieves
    There’s no one unwelcome here
That sin and shame that you brought with you
You can leave it at the door
And let mercy draw you near
    So, come to the table
Come join the sinners who have been redeemed
Take your place beside the Savior
Sit down and be set free
    Come to the table
    Come to the table
To the thief and to the doubter
To the hero and the coward
To the prisoner and the soldier
To the young and to the older
All who hunger all who thirst
All the last and all the first
All the paupers and the princess
All who fail, you’ve been forgiven
All who dream and all who suffer
All who loved and lost another
All the chained and all the free
All who follow all who lead
    Anyone who’s been let down
All the lost you have been found
All who have been labeled right or wrong
To everyone who hears this song

  11. Michelle Patire says:

Man. I am so grateful for this community. Last week, I was on the phone with someone who is a believer and I have hung out with before, but the enemy used her to speak so much false prophecy over my life. I realized this all last night. It is very upsetting. I was talking to my pastor’s daughter and realized this woman was speaking to me and deceiving me. The woman doesn’t even know the Bible that well.
I say all this to say, I don’t think God told me I will be moving soon. She was prophesying all these lies about my future. It’s so messed up. I’m glad I was asking you all to pray for me. I definitely needed the extra covering. Satan was trying so hard to hurt me and confuse me, distracting me from the life God has for me, right now.
Please pray that God works this together for good. I feel covered by Him but I’m trying to sort through all the lies Satan tried to bury into my heart through this woman about my life. She told me I was going to sell my car, move out of this country, and find my husband. Satan uses all our desires and weaknesses against us. Ugh. Thank you for your continued prayers! I’m so angry. Please pray God would help me sort through this mentally. Thank you!

  12. Cee Gee says:

SEARCHING – I will be praying for your friend’s surgery (sorry I neglected to say that in my previous comment!)

  13. Ramona says:

I have enjoyed this study so much. I have read the same scripture multiple times, but this study has brought newness to each word. Thank you SRT staff for a very enlightened study. Sisters I enjoy reading your comments and stories. Love and blessings to all.

  14. Erica Chiarelli says:

Wow, what an awesome reminder of God’s grace, His love, all Jesus accomplished at the Cross for us!!! We are Co heirs with Christ because of Christ! Just wow!!! Thank You Father God, Thank You, Jesus, thank You, Holy Spirit!

  15. Cheryl Blow says:

ERB beautiful story about the lamb! This whole time of study has shown me over and over how loving our God is. He had a plan for redemption through Christ and He used whoever He wanted to accomplish it! He made a way for all of us. If we accept Christ and God’s plan, then we are co-heirs with Christ. We may call Him Abba Father.

  16. Ramona says:

ERB, I love the story of the bummer lamb. Thank you so much for sharing this.

  17. Cee Gee says:

This has been an eye-opening study! Today’s reading brought to mind the song, “Who Am I” by Casting Crowns. I am sharing only partial lyrics, but I hope the words will bless you:

“Who am I, that the Lord of all the earth
Would care to know my name, would care to feel my hurt?
Who am I, that the Bright and Morning Star
Would choose to light the way for my ever wandering heart?
Not because of who I am, but because of what You’ve done
Not because of what I’ve done, but because of who You are
I am a flower quickly fading, here today and gone tomorrow
A wave tossed in the ocean, a vapor in the wind
Still, You hear me when I’m calling, Lord, You catch me when I’m falling
And You’ve told me who I am
I am Yours, I am Yours.”

I AM HIS! That’s what it means to me. It isn’t because I have something unique and special; it’s because of Who He is – my savior full of grace and truth- and because He desires a relationship with me. It also means that I have sisters I may never meet who share my triumphs, hurts, etc., because we are all in His family and are drawn together by His Spirit.

ERB – I love the bummer lamb example! It reminded me of the picture I have seen of Jesus holding a little lamb close to His chest.

SEARCHING – love your comment! I will pray for Matt and that the seed you planted will produce fruit.

Thank you, SRT, for another great study!

  18. Kristen says:

Wow! I admit I have had trouble believing or understanding this gift and the promises when it comes to me. When I think about this being true and real and that I’m included, is there anything else that should mean more? None of us deserve this! That means today and every day can be different than what I’ve believed before. Knowing who He is and that God is Sovereign can give such peace. I’m grateful for all that I’ve learned and am learning to help me grasp this amazing grace, love, and hope. I heard Voddie Bauchman say on a message about Hope in God that we must hope in Him. He gave Scriptures about how God hears us. He said what an amazing privilege that the Creator of the universe hears us! We have that access because of Jesus! Praise God for His plan! Praise Jesus for His unfathomable sacrifice that is our only way to being saved for time and eternity! Thank God that believers have the Holy Spirit to help, convict, guide, and lead us! I love what Searching says. Her reaction is overwhelming thankfulness! Amen!
ERB, thank you so much for sharing this article! This is beautiful and brought tears. This is what our Lord and Savior does!

    Praying for you all!

  19. Sharon, Jersey Girl says:

@Hannah Turner – that song popped into my mind as well as I read the discussion question! I am not only glad to be a part of the family of God – I am thankful, grateful blessed!! God chose me. Why? I may never know, but thank God He did! As a chosen one, an heir with Christ Jesus – all the promises of His word are mine, every chapter, every verse every line. To think that we are joint heirs with Christ, and we will also share in His glory totally blows my mind! I am a grafted in, child of the King. Thank you Father God for making the mystery of the gospel manifest to the Gentiles, of which I am one.

    Happy Friday Sisters!

  20. Audren Phalen says:

For me to be a part of God’s spiritual family because of Jesus, it means more than I can put here. It means that I am part of a family that royally messes up, but has redemption in Christ and forgiveness. It means I have a promised inheritance, legacy, and am one with everyone else in this family. It means that Jesus calls me His family, coheir, brought to glory, Abraham’s seed, and led by God’s Spirit receiving adoption!

  21. Kimberly Z says:

What a great reminder of the love God has for all of us. Praying for you all to feel the love he has for each one of us. Happy Friday!

  22. Diana DiazRodriguez says:

I am sooo grateful to be part of Gods family. That no matter who I am and what I do and don’t do, none of that changes the FACT that I am part of Gods family! Thank You Jesus for the ultimate sacrifice, Thank you for dying and raising up from the dead on the third day for me and for the world.

  23. Hannah Turner says:

That question made me think of the hymn. “I’m so glad, I’m apart, of the family of God. I’ve been washed by the fountain, cleansed by His blood. Join heirs with Jesus as we travel this far, for I’m part of the family, the family of God!”

  24. Searching says:

What does it mean for me to be a part of God’s spiritual family because of Jesus? Overwhelming thankfulness.
This study has highlighted and reinforced that I have SO much for which to be thankful- God’s never ending love, His perfect plan for me & all of us, His mercy & grace, Christ’s ultimate sacrifice on the cross that made a way for me and for you, that we may be confident in our salvation and eternal home with Him in heaven.

Yesterday, I caught a bit of video of Lauren Daigle’s post-Covid testimony – how what at first felt like a huge disaster (shut down of recently started tour) was in reality a huge blessing, that showed her in essence that she needed to reset her focus, to remember her first love, and that the point of what she does is to worship God.
May we all remember to focus on Him.

MELANIE – praying for your son headed to church camp. May it be an amazing time that strengthens the foundation of his faith.

KELLY (NEO) – grafted, love that! Your lists and reminders continue to inspire me. I keep thinking that I will try to better organize my scribbling, and I need to just do it (instead of “try”).

MERCY ❤️ continuing to pray for your aunt’s family

TERESA DONLEY – thank you for your testimony of answered prayer

ERB – thank you for reminding that nothing is impossible with God. The scriptures point out to us that nothing is impossible, and that all things are possible with God (Matthew 19:26 as an example). ❤️

MARIA J and others – Mary receiving the Holy Spirit jumped out at me also. Awesome.

MICHELLE PATIRE – continuing to pray for wisdom, guidance and patience, and for your parents and siblings.

    FOSTER MAMA – praying

Please pray for my friend’s mom that struggled with heart issues several months ago. She is finally strong enough to have the pacemaker procedure either next week or the following.
Also, please pray for Matt who is a salesman I spoke with yesterday. It became apparent in our conversation that he didn’t know the Lord and he was a bit flippant when I said I would add him to my prayer list – but I got a surprised look when I told him there would be people around the world praying for him. I may never see him again, but pray that God will draw Matt to Him and do great things in his life.

Continuing to miss so many of our sisters. Praying all are okay and will join us in the next study.

  25. Tasha Adams says:

It means so much to me that God sees me as a member of His family, I am a daughter of God and that means that I need to start acting like I am His daughter and stop letting people dictate how I act and live my life.

  26. ERB says:

I also read this article this morning and wanted to pass it along:

“ Every once in a while, a ewe will give birth to a lamb and reject it. There are many reasons she may do this. If the lamb is returned to the ewe, the mother may even kick the poor animal away. Once a ewe rejects one of her lambs, she will never change her mind.
These little lambs will hang their heads so low that it looks like something is wrong with its neck. Their spirit is broken.
These lambs are called “bummer lambs.” Unless the Shepherd intervenes, that lamb will die, rejected and alone. So, do you know what the Shepherd does?
He takes that rejected little one into His home, hand-feeds it and keeps it warm by the fire. He will wrap it up with blankets and hold it to His chest so the bummer can hear His heartbeat. Once the lamb is strong enough, the Shepherd will place it back in the field with the rest of the flock.
But that sheep never forgets how the Shepherd cared for him when his mother rejected him. When the Shepherd calls for the flock, guess who runs to Him first?
That is right, the bummer sheep. He knows His voice intimately.
It is not that the bummer lamb is loved more, it just knows intimately the One who loves it and has experienced that love one on one.
So many of us are bummer lambs, rejected and broken. But He is the good Shepherd. He cares for our every need and holds us close to His heart so we can hear His heartbeat.
I am a bummer lamb adopted and loved by The Good Shepherd!! ❤ Hallelujah!!”

  27. Donna Wolcott says:

I am reminded of the song “I Am Who You Say I Am”. Through faith and grace, a child of a loving God and yes a sister of Jesus. Amen and praise. “Praise the Father, praise the Son, praise the Spirit three in one. God of glory majesty, praise forever to the King of Kings.” (Hillsong)

  28. ERB says:

    Ephesians 3:8-12
**confident access through faith in God. Wow!! That is power-packed right there!! May we walk boldly, confidently and humbly before Him. May our faith, confidence and trust in Him never waver!! And may ALL see who our God truly is!!! Amen.

    Galatians 3:27-29
**One in Christ. This is a huge statement. We only gain unity with one another if we are aligned and in union with God. If it doesn’t align with Him, it isn’t from Him. There is no middle ground. We are either for Christ or against Him. Harsh but true. Let us live in The Truth. Amen.

    Roman’s 8:12-17
**”the Spirt Himself testifies together with our spirit that we are God’s children” Together with God. Unity with Him. Wow!!! Lord, let our flesh die so that we may only serve and consider You, and You alone!! To You be all the glory honor and praise!! Amen.

    Romans 5:17
    **yes and Amen!! SOOO THANKFUL!!!

    Romans 4:13
**righteousness comes by faith. Faith requires trust and obedience, oftentimes without seeing or understanding. Lord, let this sink deep within and help us live it out!! Amen.

    Hebrews 2:9-15
**Willingness, trust, obedience, faithfulness, unity.. these all stand out to me!! As does suffering, perfection through suffering and refinement through temptation!! Jesus is the ultimate example of these things and it is through Him and His choices/willingness that we are able to experience freedom and oneness with God. Nothing exists/happens without God!! May we never forget that or take advantage of it!!! May we humbly realize the seriousness and depth of what it means to be called His children. And let us always choose Him above everything!!! Amen.

    Mathew 12:50
    **Amen!!

  29. Foster Mama says:

    I echo @ VICTORIA E’s “Amen! NADS”

@ MERCY thank you for your sharing yesterday; praying for and with you.

    Praying for ally Sisters’ requests!

Thank you Lord Jesus that we are grafted into your lineage (thanks @ KELLY NEO); I so often feel so unworthy to think in these terms (and I am!) but this study has been a great reminder that God has used SO many different “types” of people from the very beginning!!

May I ask for prayers — to see and have meaningful, impactful, healing time with loved ones I have in mind. Prayers for all “my babies”.

God is good all the time!

    Blessed weekend, my sisters.

  30. Patsy Coghlan says:

It means that God on His great mercy showed grace to me a sinner like he did for the people in Jesus’ family line. Thanks be to God for providing salvation to all who believe on His name.

  31. Sundayschoolteacher says:

Praising God for using all people in Jesus’ lineage. We are so unworthy but through Jesus’ love for use He made us new through His life, death and resurrection three days later. He’s alive so those of us who believe are alive through Him. Thank you SRT for your studies. They are rich in truth and helps us to continually grow in our love for God, the Father and Jesus, His Son. Thank you for the Holy Spirit who indwells each believer. Missing Churchmouse and Tina. Happy Friday and weekend! May we shine Jesus light brightly!

  32. Heather Archer says:

Thank you Jesus, because of you and what you’ve done I am called a daughter of the most High God, a sister to Christ!

  33. Melanie says:

It’s been beautiful to see that Jesus was from a line of unworthy people as we all are unworthy. He uses everyone and forgives lavishly. I’m so humbled to be a coheir with Christ. Pray for my son as he goes to church camp tomorrow that he will have a touch from the Holy Spirit and fall in love with Jesus. He is a good boy The teenage years are a bit rough so praying for this time away at camp

  34. Tami C says:

Jesus made a way to bring all people to God, including us this means we receive the gift of salvation in Christ if we accept it. We don’t have to fear death. We are forgiven and redeemed and grafted into the family of God. We are Jesus’s sisters and co-heirs to the promises of God. We can walk with confidence knowing we are chosen and loved by the king of kings. Through his grace, we will live with him into eternity.

  35. Allison M says:

It means everything. Without it, our lives, everything else, is meaningless. He loved us so much that He made a way to bring us back to Himself into a family. We are never alone.

  36. Allison Bentley says:

I am reminded today the God loves ME – that crazy relative who comes to the family cookouts a mess with kids screaming and breaking grandmas plates, the woman who doesn’t have it all together, the aunt who is quick to judge someone else’s kids, the sister who struggles with addiction, the daughter who is tired of the same ole family feuds, the friend who tries to help- He lives me because of who He is!!! Not because of what I’ve done or haven’t done but because of what He has done!!! THANK you father for your inheritance! I receive your grace and mercy everyday- help me to give it to others in your name!

  37. Stephanie Scott says:

One of the things SRT has helped me appreciate over the last 6 years, is the “big C” Church. Oh how I love Jesus for this adoption.

  38. Jeanie Mclellan says:

    Amen

  39. Danielle B says:

Amen Kelly (NEO) well said. We are grafted into the line of Christ though we may not always do good. God is faithful and will try to show us our sinful ways.

  40. Deb Bovee says:

    ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

  41. Aimee D-R says:

Oh I’d be so lost without Jesus!

  42. Kelly (NEO) says:

Because of Jesus I have been grafted in to His family tree. A tree with branches that produced good fruit and branches that produced evil fruit. All along the way, God showed Himself to be faithful to His promises.
