I sit here and read how Paul encourages us to grab onto Christ’s endurance and just so thankful that he did already endure for me. With all that going on in today’s world with a global virus affecting all people, I look to his word for comfort and find it everyday. 2 thess 3:5 says ‘May the Lord direct your hearts to God’s love and Christ’s endurance.’ So ladies I pray that today you direct your hearts to the one who can hold them and endure our heartaches. In the SRT bible the devotion after this chapter says “moments of calamity and tragedy (which is affecting all of us now) unveil our deep neediness and utter helplessness. They direct us to our only strength and recourse, which is Christ. What a tremendous grace this is, to know the God who loves perfectly, to be in a relationship with the God who endures

Number 12:13 And Moses cried out Lord, “O, God, please heal her — please”

This is the first time Moses spoke in this chapter. He had not spoken the entire time he was accused, leaving it up to God to answer his critics.

When a leader perceives accusations are petty, false, or self-motivated, the right thing to do is to ignore them, leave them up to God, and keep busy with what the LORD has called the leader to do – even as Jesus was oppressed and He was afflicted, yet He opened not His mouth. (Isaiah 53:7)

  17. Inez Lee says:

The Lord is always with you and will always give you peace! Also we have to be careful with the people we surround ourselves with because we don’t want to stray away from walking in light and being obedient to God. ❤️

  18. Sarah Johnson says:

So cool to see how, when humble Moses is spoken against, the Lord is righteously angry and protects him. The Lord will fight for us!

  19. E Hong says:

4And we have confidence in the Lord about you, that you are doing and will do the things that we command. -ellie

May we also not succumb to idleness but work day and night in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ!

Great scriptures today. I want to learn from Moses on humility. How incredible would it have been to see the form of God?!

Thank you! Praying that the Holy Spirit guards my lips and tongue!

It is really impactful to me to see these readings together. After all those details and numbers- God stops to tell us about sinning with our words and verbally spreading negativity. Thessalonians calls it being a busybody. The readings are like a 1-2 punch for me. Watch my attitude and watch my words. More correctly I need to keep my eyes on God, keep focused on the work he’s given me, and use my mouth only to exalt him.

  25. Caroline says:

Meek: quiet, gentle, not wanting to fight or argue with other people

Moses was meek yet he was one of the greatest men and leaders in the Bible–God himself spoke DIRECTLY to Moses, not in riddles or dreams like with other prophets–and yet Moses did not have to rule with an iron hand but rather with a gentle spirit. After all, Jesus himself had the same gentle spirit and he rewards those who conduct themselves in this way. (“Blessed are the meek”)

Note to self: being meek doesn’t mean getting walked all over!

Being the loudest does not make one the wisest. Wisdom radiates to far more from being quiet, listening and following the leading of the Holy Spirit rather than leading in ones own manner without the guiding hand of the Lord.

  26. Courtney says:

Busybodies never prosper…do the work of Christ
    *note to self

  27. Kylee says:

“Some of you walk in idleness, not busy at work but busybodies –” HEART CHECK to examine myself and my friendships to make sure we aren’t idle busybodies, but are active participants in the loving out the gospel.

  28. Sarah says:

“Remember and trust God’s promises and what He controls.” Lord, help me with this! Amen.

  29. Kelly says:

30 Then Caleb silenced the people before Moses and said, “We should go up and take possession of the land, for we can certainly do it.” – I love Caleb’s confidence in the Lord!

    1. KK says:

The Numbers passage made me think about how I approach difficult situations. Do I focus on the circumstances and what I can control? Or do I remember and trust God’s promises and what He controls?

      1. KK says:

I pray that God would give me the confidence of Caleb.

  30. Antimony says:

The people of Israel saw what they were up against. And they began to fear and doubt. They couldn’t see the past victories. Only the present uncertainty. God had lead them out of Egypt. He had parted the Red Sea. He drowned the Egyptian army. He gave them manna. And quail. But they still feared and doubted. How often we are in this same situation!!

  31. Kendall says:

Love love love 2 Thes 3:15. Definitely need that reminder a lot. People who sin differently than we do (because we all sin) should not be treated as the enemy but as a brother needing help.

    1. Deborah says:

I’m SUPER behind, but just read this and wanted to thank you for your comment! Your words spoke to my heart!

  32. I hadn’t realized before today that 2 Thes. 3:13 was in the context of working for your wages. Paul is reminding those who have a daily grind that a glamorous life or a lazy one is not what we are called to. I needed to hear that! He has given me the life I need to put me in the path of those who need Him, and has given me a job that provides for my needs. Instead of becoming frustrated that my life or my work doesn’t look like I had hoped or planned that it would, I should be thankful, and never grow weary of quietly doing good, day after day after day.

    1. Jennifer says:

I found this so encouraging as well!

    2. Gail says:

      Great reminder-thank you Julie

    3. Erin says:

I too found this encouraging! Thanks for sharing

    5. Kaylee Susong says:

Thank you for this Julie!!!! Loved how you worded this. Wrote it in my journal!!!

  33. Yana says:

13 And as for you, brothers and sisters, never tire of doing what is good.

It is easy to become tired when our society pulls us toward anger, self gratification, selfishness…But the peace that comes with staying in the word and winning the spiritual tug of war is so much greater than succumbing to the ways of the world. Faithgateway has a wallpaper by Anne Voskamp that says “Wear the lens of the Word and the world transfigures to the Body of Christ.” God glasses—always look for ways to show the world the way of a Christian. BE and SPEAK as a Christian so others will follow. Sooooo not that easy all the time! But so necessary to show our appreciation for all He has given us.

    1. Jessica Shafer says:

Thanks Yana ! That’s great and so true!

    2. Jennifer says:

      Thanks I needed this reminder

  34. Roslyn Wollman says:

I love where it explains that Moses is a humble man. :)

    1. Julie says:

      Me too!

  35. Taylor Bailey says:

I am wondering if Moses is so humble because God spoke to him face to face or if God spoke to him because of his great humility. Either way we definitely see God exalting the humble as he made Moses a leader of the people and spoke with him face to face! Matthew 23:12 -Whoever exalts himself will be humbled, and whoever humbles himself will be exalted.

  36. Katie says:

I have enjoyed Thessalonians so much! The verse that got me today was V 5. “May the Lord direct your hearts to the love of God and to the steadfastness of Christ.” What a sweet❤️place to be, to stay!

  37. Leah Swindon says:

From 2 Thes 3:3 But the Lord is faithful, and he will strengthen you and protect you from the evil one.

I needed to read this today. After getting too caught up in politics at work, the reminder to stay the course and pray to the Lord to help me stay outside of that conflict was very convicting. He is faithful, and what I have to do is lay it down before Him and step forward with a new conviction that if I ask Him to strengthen and protect me, he will.

  38. Shirl says:

Despite Miriam and Aaron’s jealousy of Moses,Moses was still gracious and asked for her healing. In 2 Thessalonians Paul instructs us not to associate with sinners but to warn them as fellow believers and not treat them as enemies. He asks for the lords peace to be among them. So often Satan tries to sow strife among believers, to make us feel jealousy. Let us continue to work for peace

    1. Jessica Shafer says:

Work for peace and love one another ;)

    2. Britt Biddinger says:

      amen!

  39. Elisha says:

30Then Caleb silenced the people before Moses and said, “We should go up and take possession of the land, for we can certainly do it.”
    Yea, Caleb!
And from 2 Thessalonians: 3But the Lord is faithful, and he will strengthen you and protect you from the evil one.

In facing giants, I pray that we all have the confidence and trust in God to know that we can overcome great and powerful obstacles before us. He has already overcome the world, why can’t we believe? Lord, help our unbelief.

    1. Elizabeth says:

      Thank you for this!!

    2. Britt Biddinger says:

amen! We may be grasshoppers, but our God is so much bigger than any opposition!
