“And may the Lord make your love for one another and for all people grow and overflow, just as our love for you overflows.”
1 Thessalonians 3:12 NLT
I love Paul’s encouragement to pray earnestly. He prayed night and day.. Lord forgive my prayerlessness at times and show me how to be consistent in prayer.
I keep seeing Paul as a small group leader to the Thessalonians. I hope I can take the encouragement and wisdom her gives to them and translate it into my own life!
11Now may our God and Father himself, and our Lord Jesus, direct our way to you, 12and may the Lord make you increase and abound in love for one another and for all, as we do for you, ❤️-ellie
I just love the visual that the Message version of 1 Thessalonians 3:12 creates: “And may the Master pour on the love so it fills your lives and splashes over on everyone around you, just as it does from us to you. May you be infused with strength and purity, filled with confidence in the presence of God our Father when our Master Jesus arrives with all his followers.”
May I be so full of the love of God that it can’t help but overflow to everyone I encounter, through the way I choose my words toward others, the thoughts I think, the attitudes I bring, the actions I do. A great and convicting reminder to me that I need a daily refresher on God’s love because without it I have nothing in and of myself to give or pour out.
13 so that he may establish your hearts blameless in holiness before our God and Father, at the coming of our Lord Jesus with all his saints.
Thank You, Lord, that You are the One who establishes my heart blameless in holiness before God. It’s not something I can make happen, I can only cooperate with You as You conform me to the likeness of Christ.
One of the most beautiful things about Numbers to me is when the Lord tells Israel that the Levites are His.
It just strikes me so deeply because in Genesis, when Leah and Jacob are having children, she calls the third Levi, meaning ‘attached’. “Now my husband will become ‘attached’ to me”.
But it doesn’t work. Jacob always loves Rachel more and ignores Leah’s sons in favor of Rachel’s.
But how incredibly beautiful is it, that 400 years after this unattached boy lives, God takes his descendants, singles them out, and binds them to Himself above all others?
Bind us to you, Lord!
My prayer this morning was for God to direct my path. To show me what I am made for. I’m in a season of translation, and my prayer was to be comforted in know that God KNOWS. He knows who I am, and when’d where I am going. I am so thankful for this scripture, it is such an answer to prayer… Which honestly I didn’t expect from the book of Numbers. (I always had a hard time getting through this book). He had jobs and responsibilities for every one. Each one of His creations, His children had a task that served God. So good.
I have some catching up to do. I keep up with daily habits for months and then suddenly forget them and remember again. Whoops! Glad I remembered tonight. I needed to hear the scriptures about how God cared for the Levites and provided for them and gave each specific purpose in a responsibility and job. Right now I am seeking out what God has for me, but it is encouraging to know that He is the same God today as He was then when He doled out these responsibilities and I can approach Him and have peace in the roles He asks me to fill knowing He will provide.
Yeah I feel the same way about Numbers, I usually feel a bit confused as this is all laid out and firmly described; but with that said it’s truly so amazing how each person is given a unique role and how we in our lives are given unique roles by God and that He has called us to those roles!
These readings from Numbers remind me that each of us has a unique role to play in the plan of God. He assigned certain roles for certain clans. All important to Him. We are called to serve in different ways. As Paul says, we are many parts of one body.
This helped by giving me something to chew on through numbers.. No need to be competitive or envious of others as we are called to do what God has for us not others roles.
I love all your comments! I often find myself going through these daily readings (especially Leviticus and now Numbers) and not feeling like I’m getting much out of them. Lord, I pray that you would allow your Word to penetrate deep into my heart and mind and fill me with your love. I pray that your Holy Spirit would speak to me, to change me in the ways I need changing; I pray that I would grow closer to you Lord, and that I would leave your word refreshed. Amen.
I love that the Levites literally were responsible “for the holy things”. Remind me Lord, that You created me for “holy things” as well. Help me be as willing as them to take that on.
Keep looking to God Molly! I have recently gone through (still going through) a hard break up. My heart is still broken, but God is so so so faithful. He is satisfying and he is good. Keep praying and going to his word. You are surrounded by love!
Trying this out. Never been a tech savvy person- even though most of my generation is. Life has been good and bad. To be honest I don’t know what to feel now that I’m going through a “bad” part. I am happy that I turned to the Lord though.
Oh Molly. I know only too well how that feels. Keep strong, keep busy, do things you love and allow yourself to feel your feelings. Time and God will heal. And he has something better for you. I PROMISE.
This isn’t really related to the reading, but I was feeling very anxious today (I still am, honestly, as I am waiting on a college decision letter) but today’s reading of Thessalonians really made me feel a little better. All my love and prayers to you wonderful women.
And the verse, 1Thessalonians 3:12 is a perfect salutation for wedding cards…”May the lord make your love increase and overflow for each other… From this day forward!! Love it!!!
1 Thessalonians 3:3 “so that no one would be unsettled by these trials. For you know quite well that we are destined for them.”
Dear Self,
don’t freak out.
don’t hulk out.
don’t chicken out.
You were destined to handle this trial; the Lord knew it would come & He prepared you to to not only withstand it, but to live triumphantly over it — standing tall with the knowledge that it is temporary & I win. Not I win eventually, I win right now.
The trial isn’t over, but I’m over it.
<3 Amen.
“for now we really live, if you stand firm in the Lord. For what thanks can we render to God for you in return for all the joy with which we rejoice before our God on your account”. As a Christian college teacher this rings so true. How I rejoice to see my students going out into the world and staying faithful to God!
Thank you, Father for all your blessings, for loving me unconditionally. Thank you for being the light of my life. Amen!

What great joy to know the Thessalonians had not departed from the faith amidst deep affliction

I feel like every chapter and verse I read is preparing me to be he Christian that I’ve started to become.

As a Christian college teacher this rings so true. How I rejoice to see my students going out into the world and staying faithful to God!
That verse stood out to me as well, as a parent.
Exactly what stood out to me as well, Antimony! Thank You Lord for speaking to my heart!
