    The following verse gave me comfort and hope! Psalm 37:23-24
    “Though he falls, he will not be overwhelmed, because the Lord supports him with his hand.
    A person’s steps are established by the Lord, and he takes pleasure in his way.”

  32. Kim says:

    So good!

  33. Lizzy Zagar says:

    Day one! I really liked Psalms 37:4. My solution for every uncontrollable event or circumstance in life is to pray and talk to God about it. God knows what we truly desire and what will ultimately benefit us. There’s a sense of relief and comfort knowing that in God’s refuge, everything will be okay and He has your back.

  34. Liz says:

    Day one done!!!!

  38. Christina says:

    I pray for a pure heart and mind. With all the wickedness and evil in this world I definitely draw near to God and ask him to preserve my innocence and this generation as a whole. I really see why prayer is important. It like Gods protection and covering. With all this evil doers and people trying to break Christians I really pray that God power be ascending so that no works of the devil will come to pass.

    1. AnnieB says:

      Amen.

  39. Kate says:

    Being new to reading the bible, I get overwhelmed by what the focus of these verses are supposed to provide me. I love reading all these comments because I see that there are many variations to what we can take away from God’s word and that is so comforting. I love knowing that even when we see that we can make mistakes, we can still takes those moments as an opportunity to grow with God and have his help create us to be more like him.

  40. Mieley says:

    I really enjoyed this reading!

  42. Allie Carlson says:

    5 Commit your way to the Lord;
    trust in him, and he will act.

    Such an amazing reminder to whole heartedly “commit” to the lord. Simply speaking words through prayer is not enough. I need to fully commit my heart. It is through this commitment that the work of God is fulfilled. So beautiful.

    1. Yenitza says:

      Amen! I feel the same way! Actions truly do speak louder than words and I want show the lord my gratitude and love for him and not just tell him.

  43. K says:

    God meets you where you are even when you are blind to divine provision.
    Many verses struck my heart reminding me that Love must be throned, daily – abiding in peace, stillness is to abide in presence. I am humbled to be emptied of all that I am to know more of You.

    Thank you Spirit!

  44. Reylena says:

    “In your light we see light”

    in my profession I am exposed to the sin that has ruined so much of Gods world and people…its sometimes so hard to find the light of Christ…yet in his word a light does shine…its his truth, hope and love for the world. In his light I can see goodness and continue to walk well before men (even when I stumble and fail he is present and compassionate)!

  45. Andria says:

    Me too Jessee. As I was reading this last night I had to stop and think about everything Jesus went through. What I’m going to is nothing compared to him and if I just focus and follow his ways it makes me a better person and sets your heart free in order to concentrate on god and his faithfulness.

  46. Andria says:

    7 Be still before the Lord
    and wait patiently for him;
    do not fret when people succeed in their ways,
    when they carry out their wicked schemes.
    8 Refrain from anger and turn from wrath;
    do not fret—it leads only to evil.

    This puts my heart at peace. I can be hot headed when people are intentionally mean. Zip my lips and turn away because God has got this!

    1. Jessee says:

      These were the verses that got to me today as well. I have been struggling with a situation where injustice seems to have prevailed and it makes no sense. Reading these verses has been yet another reminder that we are to wait patiently on The Lord and that I need to let go of the anger I have at the situation and just trust God that he has me!

  47. Savannah says:

    The Lord is my stronghold in times of trouble. He delivers me because I take refuge in Him. What an awesome reminder!

  48. Jessica says:

    I found the contrast between those who love and follow God and the wicked to be very encouraging … He upholds those who love Him … Also make reaching the lost so much more urgent … Their future is Grimm with out knowing God

  49. Caitlin says:

    I’ve learned so much in these few months. But I completely adore the Psalms and love these Sunday readings

    Trust, delight, commit, and then rest.
    I love the progression found in 37:3-7

    1. Reylena says:

      Caitlin, so true thanks for pointing this out: trust delight, commit and rest…

  50. Shannon says:

    Really uplifting.

  51. Katelinl says:

    23 The Lord makes firm the steps
    of the one who delights in him;
    24 though he may stumble, he will not fall,
    for the Lord upholds him with his hand.

    These verses spoke to me. As we learn to delight in the Lord our desires match His. He will guide us as He gives us the desires of our heart.

  52. Antimony says:

    37:23-24 “The steps of a man are established by the Lord, & He delights in his way. When he falls, he will not be hurled headlong, Because the Lord is the One who holds his hand”. When I fall, when I rebel and turn away from God. When I sin and fall into despair. God is there. He holds me by His hand. And He desires to help me back up. To set me on my feet again. To walk with God once more. He wants me to return. And repent. And He will forgive. And restore me. And love me. And show mercy.

  53. Lis says:

    I love the first few verses of psalm 37 because it reminds me that I don’t have to worry about what anyone else has. God will supply my need and that of my family.

  54. Shelbi Marie says:

    Your love, LORD, reaches to the heavens,
    Your faithfulness to the skies.
    Your righteousness is like the highest mountains,
    Your justice like the great deep.
    You, LORD, preserve both people and animals.
    How priceless is your unfailing love, O GOD!
    People take refuge in the shadow of your wings.
    They feast on the abundance of your house; you give them drink from your river of delights.
    For with you is the fountain of life;
    In your light we see light.

  55. Lauren says:

    8 Refrain from anger and give up your rage;
    do not be agitated — it can only bring harm.
    9 For evildoers will be destroyed,
    but those who put their hope in the Lord
    will inherit the land.

    I struggle with this so much. I am such an angry person.

    1. Sarah says:

      That passage stood out to me too. I feel like I hold on to so much anger but even the passage says that it only does harm! I am learning to forgive others and forgive myself the way God has forgiven us all. Holding on to anger only harms yourself and harms your relationship with God. Definitely something I will be praying on!

    2. Stephanie says:

      Lauren, I appreciate your candidness. It breaks my heart as someone who at times has struggled with anger. Praying you lay it down as a sacrifice and allow the Lord to transform your heart and mind in Christ Jesus who is our only real hope. You may need to continually lay it down until it is conquered. Said a prayer for you.

  56. Britt Biddinger says:

    I needed reassurance this morning that the upright will be protected and prospered & the reminder not to fret. God is faithful and beautiful.
    if you ladies have a moment, please join with me in prayer; one of my oldest friends just had her first baby via emergency c section. she was two weeks past her due date so no problems there, but the baby inhaled a bunch of gunk & is struggling to breathe. The dr’s had to put in a breathing tube & a tube in her spine for meds to make sure she doesn’t get an infection. Thank you for joining me in prayer, I’ve been praying over this little one for months and have already fallen in love with her & I can only imagine how her mommy & daddy are feeling right now.

    1. Christina D. says:

      Britt praying for this sweet baby. Lord, I pray that your hands would guide the doctors and nurses that care for this precious baby…Your precious baby. Comfort her parents during a time when they were anticipating joy and excitement and is inevitably filled with anxiety and uncertainty. Overwhelm them with your peace and control of this circumstance. And that baby Lord. Just scoop her right up and keep her free of any infection. Clear her airway and lungs. Keep her body strong. Send your angels to sing sweet songs over her now and allow her body to be ready to go home with mom and dad. You are so good.

      1. Stephanie says:

        What a sweet prayer. How are you feeling Christina?

    2. Lis says:

      Praying for that sweet baby and her mama

    3. Britt Biddinger says:

      thanks so much ladies! They’re getting to hold her & she has a name now — Hannah. how glorious is that?! & she’s breathing on her own & getting stronger every day!

  57. Blonde 70 says:

    I love the Psalms also. This stood out to me:
    Psalm 37:31 The law of their God is in their hearts; their feet do not slip.

  58. Kellie says:

    I think sometimes I tend to focus on really wanting to set a good example of Christ’s love to others, and I start to focus or point out the “wrong doings” of others. These Psalms reminded me to keep my heart focused on Jesus and his grace. I may stumble and fail at times, but I pray that I will always keep my heart focused and open to our God!!

  59. Suzanne says:

    Kenzie, it’s our heart motive that counts. When you know you’re not perfect on your own is when God can use you, because you acknowledge you need him. The evildoers don’t admit to any need of help or grace at all.

    1. Amber says:

      To build on that David was described as man after God’s own heart but he wasn’t perfect. What he did do was accept responsibility for his actions and fully repent when he was in sin. He also trusted in God to lead him through times. It actually gives me comfort to know people like David and Noah and Abraham messed up. It truly shows all God needs is a willing heart

      1. Kenzie says:

        Thank you both!

  60. Suzanne says:

    I agree, Amy!

  61. Kenzie says:

    I love the psalms, I really do. I’ve read through all of them consecutively, twice, and use them as a reference for the “praise” portion of my prayer. Something I struggle with in these passages, though, is that I always kind of feel like the “wicked” or “evildoers” in these passages, because I’m not always upright, or clean hearted, or free of anger, or totally generous, you know? I know I have to read the OT thought the lens of Jesus, so does this mean that his forgiveness makes me all that I listed above? And in those days was it the same for those who sacrificed animals? Because so many people in the OT talk about how blameless & perfect they are… Which is impossible, right!? Sorry, so many questions :)

  62. Amy says:

    Vs. 4 stood out to me. May we reject evil as we give this day to Him. I am so in awe of His love and grace.

  63. Jennifer says:

    Wow. Felt like this morning my eyes were opened to see more of who God is – Himself as Righteousness. Faithfulness. Glorious. How encouraging!

  64. Lydia says:

    I love these chapters in the Psalms. So much hope and truth for our hearts!

  65. Audra says:

    This reminds me of Heb. 6:19 “we have this hope as an anchor for the soul; firm and secure.” Have hope in the Lord and trust in his doings for he will reward our faithfulness.
