  1. Ashley Abbas says:

    Thank you Lord and reminding me to repent when I sin. I know I am flawed and continue to commit sin but with your forgiveness and guidance I can turn from those patterns and know you will forgive me and love me. I will try harder!

  2. Emily Perkins says:

    Dear God, thank you for bringing me closer to you. I love you. Amen

  3. Lauren Garza says:

    He will return in judge. He wants us to choose him. He wants our hearts. He pours the spirit out. He’s gracious and compassionate. He’s slow to anger and abounding in Faithfull Avenue. He spares us. He is so good. He redeems. He is judge. He is our refuge. He is with us. He is loved. He gives us eternal life. He gives us his son. He hears us.

  4. Oceanna King says:

    4 For everyone who has been born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world—our faith. 5 Who is it that overcomes the world except the one who believes that Jesus is the Son of God? – 1 John 5:4-5

  5. mckenzie helmuth says:

    I love how he calls us little children to encourage us to have faith like them. I also found it interesting that he said there is sin that leads to death & sin that does not lead to death. But all wrongdoing is sin.

  6. Carol Bowman says:

    21“Fear not, O land;
    be glad and rejoice,
    for the Lord has done great things!

  7. Sarah Johnson says:

    I have absolutely loved 1 John. It’s a great mix of theology in proving Jesus is the son of God, and more emotional takeaways and guidance for everyday living

  8. Sharon Ide says:

    Even now, in any circumstance, we may return to the Lord who is gracious and merciful and place our trust in Him who saves and is willing to save. What a glorious truth.

  9. May Alcorn says:

    We love God when we keep his commandments and it is not burdensome- all the commandments show us how to love God and love others but without knowing Christ as Savior we can’t access the supernatural power of His Spirit that allows us to be children of God not children of the world. The world calls very different things loving than scripture does and without a saving faith we can be pulled into the world’s standard based on “not-god” and evil vs what God says is right.

  10. E Hong says:

    21“Fear not, O land;
    be glad and rejoice,
    for the Lord has done great things!

  11. JoAnn Foley-DeFiore says:

    10The earth quakes before them;
    the heavens tremble.
    The sun and the moon are darkened,
    and the stars withdraw their shining.
    13and rend your hearts and not your garments.”
    Return to the Lord your God,
    for he is gracious and merciful,
    slow to anger, and abounding in steadfast love;
    and he relents over disaster.
    27You shall know that I am in the midst of Israel,
    and that I am the Lord your God and there is none else.
    And my people shall never again be put to shame. 28 “And it shall come to pass afterward,
    that I will pour out my Spirit on all flesh;
    your sons and your daughters shall prophesy,
    your old men shall dream dreams,
    and your young men shall see visions.

  12. Steph C says:

    “Don’t tear your clothing in your grief, but tear your hearts instead. Return to the Lord your God, for he is merciful and compassionate, slow to get angry and filled with unfailing love. He is eager to relent and not punish” (Joel 2:13). God isn’t interested in an outward show of sorrow for sin. He doesn’t care about drama. He desires a change of heart! Repentance because we are grieved by our distance from God. A cry for His mercy because we are completely incapable of changing ourselves. He will forgive. He will love. He will restore. Oh Merciful God, your love is overwhelming. Thank you for drawing me to Yourself.

    1. Ruth Lorentz says:

      ♥️

  13. Baylee Smithson says:

    No matter what trial you may be going through,; If God brings you to it he will get you through it. Lean on God for clarity and understanding! God bless.

  14. Linz Petri says:

    I love that God is constantly in the business of redeeming what may have been lost or broken or damaged. “I will restore to you the years
    that the swarming locust has eaten,
    the hopper, the destroyer, and the cutter,
    my great army, which I sent among you.” Joel 2:25

  15. Sophie says:

    Joel 2:13-14 was powerful, we don’t change our our clothes and become right with God, there’s so much more to it! We have to trust him completely with our hearts and minds

    1. Karena Edwards says:

      We can’t change outwardly only to become right with the father. It’s an inside change first.

  16. Dari says:

    Joel 1:14 makes me think of what I should be doing during this difficult time in the world. Sometimes all we can do is mourn, lament, fast, and pray for God to touch people’s hearts.

  17. karen says:

    20 And we know that the Son of God has come and has given us understanding, so that we may know him who is true; and we are in him who is true, in his Son Jesus Christ. He is the true God and eternal life. If only the people who are killing in our world today, even right in our own neighborhoods, could know this truth, how can we as SRT Sisters, spread this good news? It weighs heavy on my heart…

  18. Katrina says:

    Joel 2:21 Do not be afraid, land of Judah;
    be glad and rejoice.
    Surely the Lord has done great things!

  19. Leah S says:

    I find it so interesting, how 1 John ends. “21 Dear children, keep yourselves from idols.” It almost feel abrupt..no benediction or close-out words. But that’s what made me really pay attention. I think our idols are one of those silent threats that can draw us away from Christ–so subtly we don’t even notice it, like Paul says in Hebrews 2:1 “we must pay close attention to what we have heard, lest we drift away from it.” I think John was being very intentional to warn is of things that can distract us from the love of Christ..and it made me pause and ask myself what my idols are? Just stuff to ponder.. :-)

    1. Jenny R says:

      I found it jarring, as well.

    2. Heidi L says:

      Yes…I Jn 5:3 “For this is the love of God, that we keep His commandments; and His commandments are not burdensome.” Commandment 1 Have no other gods before Me
      Commandment 2 Do not make/worship an idol
