    Thank you, Lord, for these gifts

  52. Sarah Johnson says:

    18:6 shows us how he hears our prayers even if it seems as if He’s on the other end of the world. When we are going through troubled times we tend to think “God is not with me” or “He doesn’t hear me” but his word says he is near the broken hearted. All we have to do is cry out to him because walking with God is not based on whether if I feel him = He is with me. It is based on if I feel him or not He is there and we will hear my cry.

    my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.
    I’ve been meditating on these verses today and it just gave me so much peace. If you’re new to the plan, I encourage you to slow down and truly take it all in rather than rush through the reading. I know it’s easier said than done. This is my third year reading, and first time I’m pondering what I’m reading and looking up verses that I don’t understand. I believe that there is always a word that God wants us to see during these readings. Be blessed!

I feel so unworthy of his blessings devotion because I don’t thank him everyday. I’m so glad I downloaded this app, it’ll keep me closer to him

      1. Heather says:

        I know what you mean. It’s so easy to get side tracked with every day life that we lose track of what’s most important. “The law of the Lord is perfect, reviving the soul” I love that feeling of revival. These lessons really help me feel closer to the Lord too.

    18 They confronted me in the day of my calamity,
    but the Lord was my support.

    2 The Lord is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer,
    my God, my rock, in whom I take refuge,
    my shield, and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.
    -i need to remember this one. He is always there because He is my rock, not some boy or a friend could look at my sins and take them in. He is my rock.

    Psalm 18:16-19 But me he caught — reached all the way

    Of that ocean of hate, that enemy chaos,
    the void in which I was drowning.
    They hit me when I was down,
    but God stuck by me.
    He stood me up on a wide-open field;
    I stood there saved — surprised to be loved!

    This is the incredible thing that happened to me last night! I am so so excited for the course God has me on! I was drowning is a sea of torment and confusion that the enemy had wrapped around me. But GOD. He picked me and set me in a firm wide open space and spoke love and courage and hope into my heart!!! I’m so so thankful I went up to the conference at Aunt Kathy and Carlos and Patricia’s church!!! Wow!!! Just wow!!! ALL THE MINISTRY TEAM BLEW MY SOCKS OFF!!! And Dr. Dan Hammer and his assistant were RIGHT ON!!!

  108. Z says:

    I just loved this today! The way it’s so comforting but also warning in a way. God is good. We should love him and want our lives to reflect that. He is worth much more than any amount of money and we should want nothing more than to live for him. Even when people discourage us, or persecute us, God remains faithful to us and will see us through the storms! As long as we don’t turn our backs on him, he will always help us. And even if we do, he’ll be
    Waiting for us to turn back with open arms.

  109. Heather W says:

    1 I love you, O Lord, my strength.

You are so good to us , Lord; knowing we would sin even without solid knowledge of it, sending your son to shed his blood for our sins, and providing us a way to pray for these unknown transgressions via Your word. Thank You!

  113. Laura says:

    So thankful for His law and His wisdom, His faithfulness and hope in Him, the beautiful sunrise every morning as the Bridegroom comes and chased away the darkness… and in spite of all the pain and difficulties, to smile at my Beloved and love and trust Him, what a merciful gift to have been set free to love Him!

  116. katrina evans says:

    wow i so needed this today x

  117. Kristen S says:

    I know that no one may read this comment as I started this in July and am playing massive catchup but I loved in the first Psalm how it paints the Lord as hearing our distress in his temple and dropping everything to come to our defense, angry at our enemy. That is an amazing picture and so strengthening in times of turmoil and struggle. In the second Psalm, while I did love the closing verses, what stood out to me was the beginning about how Gods glory is seen in the wordless heavens. Nobody has ever been able to explain everything from a scientific standpoint and when you learn more and more about our galaxies and the delicate balance everything is in, to think that it was all just coincidence after coincidence after lucky break is just ludicrous. The heavens prove that there is an almighty God and creator and it says so here, thousands of years ago. If anything, there is more to “prove” that true now. :) I hope I make sense

    1. Kara says:

      Great thoughts! There’s no way it could have been done without God! Glad I’m not the only one who started late :)

  118. Heidi Wray says:

    14 May these words of my mouth and this meditation of my heart

  119. brenda says:

    The Lord has dealt with me according to my righteousness Psalm18:20. Whenever we feel weak it is because our relationship with Him is weak. We are imperfect, incomplete, we are humans. Only through Him are we made strong.

  120. LeighAnn says:

    If you believe in Him, your rewards will be so great! You have all of his love and protection. He will take care of you for eternity. His judgements are the only ones that matter.

  121. Cece Blooom says:

    His laws are perfect & trustworthy. Amen!

    I think this passage shows the strength that God has. I’m so glad to serve a God so good and trustworthy and powerful. He will not be defeated. His very breath scatters our enemies. Stay strong today ladies. In the name of Jesus the enemy MUST flee

  129. Mary McClendon says:

    I am so glad I read this today. Our God is so good. He delights in us even when we don’t deserve it. He gives us strength when we need it and pulls us out of deep waters when we aren’t strong enough. What a caring, loving God we serve.

    1. Amanada Smith says:

      That’s exactly how I felt reading this. 19:14 is my favorite verse of the whole thing. I feel like if I got up every morning and said that to him, I would have a much clearer outlook on my days.

  132. Ariadne says:

    47 It is God that avengeth me, and subdueth the people under me.
    This verse lines up with the sermon I heard this Sunday. I was planning to get revenge…but was told to stand still and see the salvation of The Lord …and I will do exactly that!!

  133. Julie Wilson says:

    Ps 18:19 is still on if my favorite verses!! He brought me forth also into a large place; he delivered me, because he delighted in me.

    Prayed it often on days when my 2bedroom trailer just didn’t seem to have enough space for our four kids!! Now I live on a mountain top!! Thankful that he has enlarged my heart with love for my kids too

  134. Tori says:

    I have been fighting my enemies for a long time and each time I want to stop, each time my enemy has brought me to my knees The Lord has filled my heart with determination that some people pray for all the time. My story is one of hardship and struggle, but also one of determination and rescuing by The Lord my god. I thank him everyday for my life no matter how many obstacles.

  135. Tori says:

    I love how God points out his love for us over and over again thought psalms. He’s constantly reminding us that even before the cross he was intervening on our behalf due to his love for us.

  136. incidentalpensees says:

    7THE INSTRUCTION OF THE LORD IS PERFECT,
    RENEWING ONE’S LIFE;
    THE TESTIMONY OF THE Lord is trustworthy,
    making the inexperienced wise.

    I’m so grateful for God’s steadfast faithfulness. so grateful we can rely on Him even when we can rely on other things in life.

  137. Rebecca says:

    Isn’t God wonderful! He lets us know each and every day how awesome is he! We may not see the good in thugs always but he is there even when we cannot see.

  138. Jodi says:

    God is certainly my strength and He knows my faults and with each passing day I know if I will lean on Him and trust Him He will see me thru. I am an overcomer!

    1. Liz Burdick says:

      28 You, Lord, keep my lamp burning;
      my God turns my darkness into light.

      Keep my lamp burning each and everyday!

    18:29 With your help I can run through a barricade; with my God I can scale a wall.

    I struggle with leaning on Him in both good times and bad. I need to take refuge in Him.

  141. Rachel says:

    So blessed to have God as our rock

  142. 2 The Lord is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer;
    my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge,
    my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold
    That right there is what I needed ❤️❤️

    1. Lolo says:

      I love these verses so much. It describes a little of everything that the Lord is to us but at the same time can’t even begin to cover it all.

  143. LB says:

    6 In my distress I called to the Lord;
    I cried to my God for help.
    From his temple he heard my voice;
    my cry came before him, into his ears.

    Our God hears his children crying for help and comes, furious with the enemy, to scoop us out of our trepidation!! Just like any parent would run to the rescue of a child in danger.

    1. Tolu says:

      Great analogy!

  144. Lillie Grace says:

    ‘Forgive my hidden faults’ sometimes we know not what we do. That really stood to me

  145. Michelle says:

    Today is the first day I’ve read the verses in Psalms and felt them resonate with me. I’ve loved all of the daily readings, except Psalms. I have been struggling with them, feeling that when I read the comments afterwards I must have read a different passage. But today, I hear it, I know it.

    1. I feel the same way, I feel like I read the wrong one. Maybe God wants us to really dig deep into Psalms. Just pray for guidance :)

  146. Cara says:

    God works in so many ways and I am so blessed to have someone who I can always count on. The lord is good.

  147. Jill Kilgore says:

    This stood out to me
    “They confronted me on the day of my disaster, but the LORD was my support.”
    Praise Him!!! Praise Him!!! Praise Him!!! He is and will always be there! Amen! We all face trials and temptation in this world but remembering God is ur support system to fall on during not only the bad but to Praise during the good! Its doesn’t always come naturally to me but studying more and more in the Word and keeping daily devotionals like this helps to keep me on track!

  148. Ashley Carrasco says:

    I never understood when people would say “God speaks to me” or “I talk with Him everyday”. I am 31 years old and my struggle with my faith I feel is coming to an end. It all makes since to me now. These past few weeks, I have heard His voice in so many aspects of my life and my marriage and I can’t wait to see what He has in store for me. I’m very excited to be starting this reading plan today. A few days of catching up but will all be worth it!

    1. Lauren says:

      Praise God for revealing himself in his word to you!

  149. Kristi says:

    “He rescued me because he delighted in me” ❤️

  150. Jehovah has recently proven to me he is always here for me and shows me his love everyday and I think reading this was the perfect timing because I’ve struggled with knowing that a prayer to him when I’m struggling is all I need to see he’s there to help us.

    1. Miss Lulu says:

      Jehovah?

  151. Amanda says:

    Loved these 2 psalms. God is always with us and always protecting those whom He loves

  152. Kristina says:

    God, please be with me. I need you now more than ever. I wish to also pray for family and friends who are hurting and in pain. Please protect them and keep them in perfect peace. Amen ♥️

    1. Echoing this prayer, Kristina. Love to you, friend!

      xoxo-Kaitlin for She Reads Truth

  153. Amy says:

    “The precepts of the Lord are right, giving to the heart. The commands of the Lord are radiant giving light to the eyes.” I really needed to hear this today after ending a relationship that I felt God was putting on my heart to end.

    1. Christie says:

      Praise God, He knows best and has so much more in store for you

    2. Christie says:

      Trust Him ❤️

  154. Meg says:

    39 You armed me with strength for battle;
    you humbled my adversaries before me.
    He is all powerful and it is amazing! This really shows his power!

  155. Shawnna says:

    I’m confused….wasn’t this written by David? than how can he say he is blameless and has not veered from righteousness when he fell I. love with a married woman had he husband killed and had a child with her?

    1. Christie says:

      I believe he wrote this before he commited adultery with Bathsheba and killed her husband. It says at the beggining of psalm 18 that he sang this song on the day the Lord rescued him from all his enemies and from Saul. The bible talks about Sauls death in 1 Samuel 31, and it only talks about David and Bathesheba in 2 Samuel 11. I asked myself the same question at first

  156. Sydney Burback says:

    I love this it truly shows how awesome our God is!

  157. Kristi Sue says:

    19 “He brought me out into a spacious place;
    he rescued me because he delighted in me.”

    HE RESCUED ME BECAUSE HE DELIGHTED IN ME.

    This stopped me dead in my tracks today. ❤️

  158. Brigetta says:

    I wish non-Christians, people who I talk to about God, would see Him as I see Him: compassionate, loving, faithful…but these verses (25-27) in chapter 18 show that until God changes the heart, the person who I am ministering to cannot see the true nature of God b/c they are blinded…so it is I who must tell of the true nature of God.
    This is a breakthrough for the way I now minister to others!

    1. Jodi says:

      This concept resonated with me as well today.

      7. The law of the Lord is perfect,
      refreshing the soul.
      The statutes of the Lord are trustworthy,
      making wise the simple.
      8 The precepts of the Lord are right,
      giving joy to the heart.
      The commands of the Lord are radiant,
      giving light to the eyes.

      So often people think of God’s word as limiting and requiring sacrifice. But this Psalm so beautifully speaks of the truth of God’s commands. He wants to protect us, refresh us and give us joy!!!

  159. Bev Brandon says:

    Luke 18:28 “My God turns my darkness into light.” This is the valiant warrior David saying this. He gave God credit for whatever enemies & suffering he endured. And within, there are dark places in all of us and God is changing us! Been at Passion2015 all weekend—may we never lose the wonder!

  160. 30 As for God, his way is perfect:
    The Lord’s word is flawless;
    he shields all who take refuge in him.

    Flawless. His plans are greater than ours!

  161. Hannah says:

    Psalms is always so uplifting and strengthening to the soul!!! Everyone’s comments have also been encouraging! May God Bless each one of you!

  162. Tiffani says:

    “Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in your sight, O LORD…” What a beautiful daily prayer this should be in my Christian walk. Not only do I want to speak with grace but I want to meditate on the things of above. I long for my thoughts, actions, and meditations to be on Heavenly things, acceptable to my God, my Savior.

    1. Amen! Meditation of my HEART!

  163. Jennifer says:

    18:25 With the faithful
    You prove Yourself faithful;
    with the blameless man
    You prove Yourself blameless;
    26 with the pure
    You prove Yourself pure,
    but with the crooked
    You prove Yourself shrewd.

    May we be faithful, blameless, and pure in His sight.

  164. Antimony says:

    “For You light my lamp; The Lord my God illumines my darkness”. Reminds me of the NT where Jesus is called the “Light of the World”.

    1. Such a good visual. His light take us out of darkness.

  165. Tina says:

    30God — His way is perfect; the word of the Lord is pure. He is a shield to all who take refuge in Him. 31For who is God besides Yahweh? And who is a rock? Only our God. 32God — He clothes me with strength and makes my way perfect….Aren’t these the most truest of words.. If we just believe and trust in Him…

  166. Roslyn Wollman says:

    Psalm 19 has got to be one of my favorite psalms!

      Same here!!!!! I basically bookmarked the whole chapter!!

    2. Brigetta says:

      Me too :)

  167. Caroline says:

    Good morning. I couldn’t have started this devotional at a better time. Last Sunday at noon my mom and I were robbed at gunpoint. As I watch the man approach my car, gun pointing at me I felt scared but I also felt strong. strong. I felt God’s grace and his shield protect us from the enemy. Praise be to God. I will recount all of his blessings.

    1. Charise says:

      I thank God for your protection in such an overwhelming event! I will be praying for God’s justice and his continued protection of you and your mom in this situation.

    2. Jolee says:

      Wow! So thankful for protection and safety! Glad you are safe and thankful for God’s shield over you.

    3. Suzie Lind says:

      That’s a crazy story! Praise God for his peace and protection over you!

    4. Stephanie says:

      Amazing. Glory to God in the highest.

  168. Amber says:

    Whenever I see the imagery of the shield used I get so excited because the specific type of shield described by the Hebrew is not a little circle but one big enough to cover a whole person, one that could be used as shield wall in battle with other soldiers. We have a shield in God that covers our whole body and when linked with others a defense to hold back an army

    1. Lisa says:

      Thanks for pointing that out! How rich a picture of His love and provision, and individuals, and even more, the beauty and purpose of the body of believers.

      1. Amy says:

        I love that! Thanks for sharing!!

    2. Katie Hentges says:

      Thank you for sharing that!! Learned something new today!!!

  169. Leah Swindon says:

    Good morning friends! Wow..just starting off with Psalm 18. I could rest in the opening verses: 1 I love you, Lord, my strength.
    2 The Lord is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer;
    my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge,
    my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.

    And Psalm 19 is one of my absolute favorites. Have a blessed Sunday everyone!

    1. Stacy says:

      So agree, Leah! I too stopped there, closed my eyes and rested in that love.

    2. Christina says:

      I agree Leah! I stopped at “my strength” and thought if I didn’t read anything else today that was exactly what the Lord wanted me to remember. Love these verses.

  170. Beth Warner says:

    “Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be pleasing to you Dear Lord”. This is a prayer I pray everyday. Have a wonderful Sunday ladies, it’s beautiful out here in So Cal. Enjoy,xoxo

  171. Krissy says:

    What a great and encouraging word for today! “The Lord is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer;
    my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge…”

  172. Clare Rixon says:

    I am new to faith and am finding so much strength through not only the words in the bible but through the beautiful comments showing the meaning in your lives. Thank you and I pray that the sins of my past will be forgiven and that’s road can now be pure. I pray for the strength to seek you every day.

    1. Jess says:

      He loves you sister! Praying for you that God would bless you with His presence and love as you seek Him!

    2. Anne-Marie says:

      Alleluia!! Welcome home, sister! Praying for you that He would bless you and keep you, and may His face shine upon you! (Psalm 67). Love you in Christ!

    3. Brigetta says:

      May God continue to pour out his love for you daily through His Word!!! Blessings to you!

  173. Krista says:

    13 Moreover, keep Your servant from willful sins;
    do not let them rule over me.
    This is a prayer to pray often, for ourselves, for our husbands.

  174. Yana says:

    14 Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart
    Be acceptable in Your sight,
    O Lord, my rock and my Redeemer.

    What an excellent reminder to us to live in the Word and not of the world. And to keep our heart pure so that our mouths will speak kindness. It is a daily struggle, but the reward is SO worth it.

    1. Linda says:

      We had a pastor (retired now and living near by) who always and still does, quote this verse at the end of his sermons. I always took it that no matter what was said it was filtered for each of us in our need. Human thoughts about our Rock and Savior!

      1. Amber says:

        I use that verse as a prayer some days to help me stay focused. I read somewhere that it actually is a traditional Jewish prayer

    2. Kristentho says:

      I also love this prayer! Growing up, I had a pastor who would pray this before every sermon. A great one to start your day with too!

  175. Joanie says:

    12 “But who can discern their own errors?
    Forgive my hidden faults.” So true. We easily see the sins of others. Search me, Lord, and show me my faults.

    1. Leah Swindon says:

      Yes..that stood out to me today too. What a powerful way to pray!

  176. Amber B says:

    The LORD is my rock……..Absolutely!!

  177. Christen says:

    There are so many wonderful truths and encouraging phrases in these passages. One that caught my attention this time is, “He delights in me.” Wow! We all go through times where we feel lonely, unwanted, unappreciated. But, God delights in us! Who better than He?

    1. Summer says:

      You gave me my Hope for the day!:)

    2. Jess says:

      Oh what verse was this? I think my translation must have said something different.

      1. Shayna Dobbins says:

        19 He brought me out into a spacious place;
        he rescued me because he delighted in me.

        1. Jess says:

          Beautiful! Thank you

    3. Shirl says:

      19 He brought me out into a spacious place;
      he rescued me because he delighted in me.
      I also needed to hear this today. That I’m loved regardless of my inequity and sin. What an amazing God

      1. His love is deeper and wider than anything we could ever know.

    4. Emily J says:

      This word- delights- also stood out to me so much. It’s a crazy idea that the author of the universe would delight in sinful, imperfect me.
