Wow… Telling them not to go to Egypt where the people probably would feel safer, but would not be, and to stay in a land that seems unsafe but is better in the long run… That is a test of faith! It reminds me to listen to God because He knows best, despite what I think is best for my life. In the end, this part of the story tells me that choosing comfort is not always best, and often isn’t. It’s where He wants us to go, no matter how dark a place it may seem, He will protect us and guide us through. Amen!

1 Remind them to be submissive to rulers and authorities, to be obedient, to be ready for every good work, 2 to speak evil of no one, to avoid quarreling, to be gentle, and to show perfect courtesy toward all people.
I will surely revisit this thought often. -
I find myself amazed at the stubbornness of the Israelites to go their own way. How many times had God warned them of his wrath, they disobey, see the consequences and then still disobey him! I’m curious whether the remnant will go to Egypt but according to their track record, I bet they will! I also have to remind myself of how many times I have seen the consequences of something and yet still disobeyed God. We are not much different, are we?

How to be selfless like in these stories; my heart yearns for a God filled life like there’s. To take instruction without hesitation. ❤️

Going to Egypt seems liked a better idea for the remnants of Judah, it seems like it was safer than surrendering to the king of Babylon… But God did not mix his words when he instructed the remnants to go to Babylon. Lord, Teach me to obey your word even when it doesn’t seem to make sense to me.
