Asking for prayer today. I need this boldness and wisdom – clarity- to talk to my adult daughter about the truth of Jesus. Today. Thank you friends

Said a little prayer for you, Annie.

Today’s reading: beautiful blessings of courage. Jeremiah must stand trial for speaking the words of God. They appear to be using case law rather than looking at their own sin. On one hand there was Micah and they didn’t kill him but repented. Here maybe Jeremiah found hope. But how did he feel when then next example came of a prophet who was executed? I don’t know if Jeremiah was filled with fear or not, but he still spoke as ambassador for God.

Similarly , what did Paul suffer in that prison? What did Onesiphorus risk in going to help Paul? Maybe he also faced questions or harassment , who knows.

I find I sometimes lack clarity of words when faced with great challenge. Maybe I am not brave like I should be. I often cross examine myself. If I were in Jeremiah’s position I might wonder how I could have said all that better and not started a fight

Does this happen to anyone else?

I also read these passages with great hope. There is indeed a battle. We have the assurance of Christ and the example of those who have fought before us.

Thank you for giving your response to the verse I just started reading the Bible this year and often have a hard time bringing it into perspective or using it in my own life. But your response really helped me. So I thank you for that. And I agree with your thoughts I often am fearful too when faced with trials and tribulations in my life now that I have the good Lord on my side because I feel shy to speak of what he’s telling me to others or how I use his love for me to get through all my trials by using his words. So I do relate to Jeremiah as many of those that I come across use case law rather looking at their own sin as well. And I also can work on being more brave. I love finding out that there is a story in the Bible about one that has been through every trial tribulation and struggle I have been through and came through it thanks to Christ’s love for them and Jesus’s sacrifice for them.

Loved reading everyone’s comments today. They are an encouragement to me. Thank you!

  4. Katrina says:

2 Timothy 1:14 Guard the good deposit that was entrusted to you—guard it with the help of the Holy Spirit who lives in us.

I love that phrase “a good deposit was entrusted to you” – God gave us His trust to do good in his works and we have to use that here on Earth for Him!

I loved this verse: 2Tim 1:7 For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love and self-discipline.
This year has really helped me find my voice and use God’s word boldly when I speak with my friends. This verse is a reminder to me that it’s not us, it’s God..and because of that we can stand strong and not be timid. I’m an introvert, and outward facing evangelism is not my gift. I’m realizing how great it is to accept that and lean into what my gift is..quiet encouragement to the people around me. Being ready with an open heart and mind that starts with God’s word ever morning.

Same here! I’m an introvert and have always felt like I probably couldn’t evangelize ever because going up to strangers and talking about Christ overwhelms me. It is not my strong suit. Yet in the past year, God has shown me that I can be a light to those around me at work/school and still evangelize in that way. Being a light to others and living out my Christianity earnestly has done wonders, more than I could have ever done otherwise.

Thank you Leah S for your words because they describe me also as an introvert. But still provides direction on how to share Gods word using a smaller platform!

I never noticed that Timothy’s faith was listed as being found first in his grandmother & mother. Usually you read about the faith of their father… Such a testimony of how a woman’s faith can leave a legacy.

    1. Leah S says:

I noticed that too today..what an empowering thought!

  7. Sandy says:

Amen sister! Lord, that You would bring scripture to our remembrance all day, and show us how it applies to us and our situation!

  8. Becky says:

This verse in 2 Timothy 1 really struck me this morning: “Guard, through the Holy Spirit who dwells in us, the treasure which has been entrusted to you.” (Verse 14, NASB). What a precious and priceless treasure we have been given: the Spirit dwelling in us, the Father’s Word to hold in our hands, and the gift of salvation achieved through the death and resurrection of the Son! Nothing can take that away from us! Yet, we’re told to guard that treasure, to make sure that no one snatches it away…so be on the lookout for the devil who comes like a prowling lion to kill, steal, and destroy.
It’s easy to read through the daily reading and check the box at the end to say “look at me, I’ve done it,” but it’s another thing to really let those words sink in to our hearts and minds. It’s taken me almost 10 months of following this plan to really learn to let God’s Word sink in as I read, but oh how precious it is to have these words in front of me this morning. I pray that these words can be an encouragement to you, my sisters, as well; that along with me you will learn to guard this treasure we have been given and not take it for granted.

    1. Leah S says:

Becky, you are so right! The journey this year has been long, but amazing. The progression from checking the box to craving God’s word before the day starts had been life changing. I even found that after a few months I needed to go back to a physical Bible..using this digital one for reference but treasuring holding God’s words in my hands.

      1. Angelyn says:

So true! I’ve been through a lot of ups and downs during this year! Some seasons, I’ve craved this time in the Word, and other days I’ve dreaded it. But it is SUCH a treasure and a gift from the Lord. Let us always be thankful that we have this tremendous gift from Him.

    2. Jennifer says:

yes and amen. thank you for highlighting this!
