It is comforting to think of God as a judge. A lawgiver. A king. A savior. Judgment is His. We can take that burden off of our shoulders so we can focus on LOVE.
Isaiah 34:2O Lord, be gracious to us; we wait for you.
Be our arm every morning,
our salvation in the time of trouble.
Lord, you know where my heart is. Bring peace, heal the wounds, help me to lean into you for all goodness and to place my broken heart in your hands.
9 Rise up, you women who are at ease,
And hear my voice;
Give ear to my word,
You complacent daughters.
Ladies we need to rise up! I loved these words in Isaiah and how empowering they are to me and hopefully is. Not in a feminist way but a reality that God is calling us to hear his voice and give eat to His Word. I have become a complacent daughter. I feel thing longing to rise up in life but need to hear Him speak to me where He is calling me. Prayers for discernment as I discover the new God is calling me to.
I’ve been struggling with unanswered prayer quite a bit, and the question of “what if” God doesn’t ‘come through’ on this side of heaven? I’ve devoted myself to Him, am not seeking my own ways to solve it, but trying to be diligent in seeking Him and letting Him work. And still nothing, no changes, the prayers remain unanswered. As time goes by, it’s so easy to be disappointed and discouraged with God. I’ve had long talks with Him about it.
Two verses we’ve read lately have helped me keep my perspective where it should be: on eternity.
Isaiah 30:15b–In repentance and rest is your salvation; in quietness and confidence/trust is your strength.
Isaiah 32:17 The result of righteousness will be peace; the effect of righteousness will be quiet confidence forever.
As I seek Him, putting Him first, my ‘reward’ is not in an answered prayer, as much as it hurts to write that out! My reward for seeking Jesus is His righteousness and peace and quiet confidence. It’s not “yes! it went my way again!” It’s “Well, God must have better plans for His glory.” This is so hard, so counter culture. Praying I can seek Him for His glory, not my own satisfaction.
Sarah, thank you for this! I am in a similar place of prayers feeling/being unanswered for 3 years. It pains me to have that perspective of my reward being his peace, and not his peace AND my answered prayer. :) even though His peace is a beautiful gift and cares for me in ways I can’t even fully know now. Thank you for being honest in writing what you wrote…it provided great comfort knowing I’m not alone!
To Sarah and Susan – you are definitely not alone. I am not going to give any advice- i’m just sharing that learning to accept what appears to be “no” so far for me- this has been the major work of my faith life. I have prayed believing i was “doing it right” and had the scriptures “to back it up” and had demonstrated the right amount of humility…I have truly wrestled with God! I see in the process God is changing me- forming me more into His design- not mine. I write this only to say i truly empathize with you!! And I wish we could have coffee and share and continue to encourage each other because – No eye has seen, no ear had heard what God had planned for us. And He makes everything beautiful in His time. He is big enough, kind enough, merciful enough- to handle our wrestling until the time!

he will fill Zion with his justice and righteousness.
6 He will be the sure foundation for your times,
a rich store of salvation and wisdom and knowledge;
the fear of the Lord is the key to this treasure.- Amen.
I love reading about Paul and how he never backed down for what he believed in, he was so loyal to God and would have rather faced death than sin against him. It’s such a powerful message Paul teaches us!

5 The Lord is exalted, for He dwells on high;
He has filled Zion with justice and righteousness.
6 And He will be the stability of your times,
A wealth of salvation, wisdom and knowledge;
The fear of the Lord is his treasure.
These verses hold special meaning for me as I navigate through troubled times at my job. He will be the stability of your times – so true ❤️
Isaiah 32:18 “Then my people will live in a peaceful habitation, and in secure dwellings and in undisturbed resting places ” I pray this verse for our world today, especially Syria and its people searching for peaceful habitation.
Happy Monday everyone! Today I’m still reading through Isaiah and Acts. I can never get tired of reading the book of Acts, the book of the early church – I enjoy the history telling in a way that I feel there with the Apostles. Seeing Paul’s transformation into a Faithful man and watching him maintain strength through awaiting trial is a great way to start off the week! Acts 25:11 “If then I am a wrongdoer and have committed anything for which I deserve to die, I do not seek to escape death. But if there is nothing to their charges against me, no one can give me up to them. I appeal to Caesar.”
He reigns. He is just. He is our shelter. He is where we dwell. This is what heaven will be.
Cry out to Him. He is our strength. He is our salvation. He exhorts, judges, our lawyer, king and savior.
Go all for God.
