His love endures. There is proof of His unfailing love. He rescues. He leads and provides. He changes situations for us. He saves. He sent His son! Rejoice He is faithful and He wins always.

This passage is really what I needed to see today. In hard times, I know God has an unfailing love for me and everyone around me.

1Oh give thanks to the Lord, for he is good,
for his steadfast love endures forever!

  11. Sarah Johnson says:

These psalms are all about how God fights battles alongside and for us and gives us aid against enemies. In the midst of George Floyd’s death, among others, I sit here wondering how God is working in the midst of this. He helps us fight enemies, and justice and vengeance are His, but what is he doing now? What words can I say or actions can I take and what should I leave to God? It is confusing and saddening, but taking some sort of action and saying something is better than remaining silent. As Christians, yes we have God working for us and in us, but we also have the responsibility to not stay silent and stand for and with our black brothers and sisters.

    1. Janice Pyke says:

The answer to all sin is the power of salvation in Jesus Christ. Leading all people to the saving forgiving love of Jesus will change hearts and minds through the working of the indwelling of the Holy Spirit. God changes hearts from the inside out. First find Jesus and the attitudes and actions will be changed with God’s help and direction. Be bold in this time of social upheaval to tell the good news of Jesus. Love others by sharing Christ with them and treating others as you would like to be treated. Don’t forget that in God’s eyes all people are created in His image!

  12. E Hong says:

28Then they cried to the Lord in their trouble,
and he delivered them from their distress.
29He made the storm be still,
and the waves of the sea were hushed.

  13. Sharon Ide says:

Psalm 107 tells us some wandered, some sat in darkness, some were fools, hungry and thirsty, rebelling and spurning God, in sinful ways and iniquities, loathing food. But when they cried out, they were surely delivered and found the steadfast love of God and His wondrous works to the children of man.

  14. Ruby says:

God may send us trials, like he sent the people in psalm 107, but every trial is to bring us closer to Him! All things are working together for our good– which is essentially our relationship with our maker (not earthly blessing). Praise be our God who loves us so much to bring us back to Him.

  15. SarahMay says:

“Then they cried out to the Lord in their trouble; He rescued them from their distress.” This is repeated 4 times in Ps 107 (and apparently I needed the reminder today too!). It’s apparent in multiple situations–
–Wandering, lost, hungry & thirsty: He satisfied & filled with good things
–In a period of rebellion, in the chains of their own sin, under bitter labor conditions: He broke chains, bringing them out of darkness & gloom
–Coming close to death due to the consequences of their rebellion & sin, unable to find joy in anything: He healed them & rescued them from death.
–Facing the perils of the sea (hello Hurricane season!), at work, fearful, discouraged, at their wits’ end: He stilled the storm to a whisper, the waves were hushed; He guided them to their desired safe place.
I feel like the repetition here indicates that there is NO PLACE, no rebellion, no earthly situation we can be in that, if we cry out to God in our distress, he won’t hear us. In a non double-negative sentence…Anywhere you find yourself, if you cry out to the Lord in your distress, He will hear AND rescue you. And you’ll be able to recount His faithfulness in doing so.

    1. AnnieB says:

I saw this pattern too. What it seemed is that people get into the unhappy situations listed due to their wandering, rejection, ignorance of God- and pride. God doesn’t necessarily create the suffering- we do! And THEN when we realize what we’ve done- or how weak we really are- THEN we turn to God and beg for help. Even then God is faithful! When we certainly aren’t earning anything from God- even then- just turning our hearts to Him is all it takes. Already this morning i was praying that many who never thought of God would turn to Him now and discover His love and life for the first time- and come to salvation. Thanks for the clarity SarahMay!

  17. Amy says:

This passage really speaks to me tonight, I feel that I’ve drifted from God and it’s just a reminder that no matter what Jesus will forgive my sins. It amazes me that we serve such an amazing, forgiving God.

  18. Neva says:

In Psalm 107, Israel continually disobeyed God, but what struck me was the fact that no matter how many times they turned away from Him…He was always there to deliver them when they cried out to Him.

    What love.
    What amazing grace.

    And~
doesn’t He offer the same for us today
when we cry out to Him!

Let the redeemed of the Lord say so!

  19. Emma Green says:

    29 He stilled the storm to a whisper;
the waves of the sea were hushed.
30 They were glad when it grew calm,
and he guided them to their desired haven.
31 Let them give thanks to the Lord for his unfailing love
and his wonderful deeds for mankind.

107 is possibly my favourite psalm ever. What a refreshing and renewing psalm to read. His promises and blessings are bountiful and so good.

  20. Heidi L says:

Ps 107:20 He sent His word and healed them,
And delivered them from their destructions.
Thank you God for sending your one and only son Jesus for our eternal healing from sin and death… John 1:1-5,14 “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was with God in the beginning. 3 Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made. 4 In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind. 5 The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it… The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.

  21. ShannonNichole says:

30 They rejoiced when the waves grew quiet.
Then He guided them to the harbor they longed for.

May we be reminded that the Lord can calm any storm in our lives, and that He knows exactly how to bring us to a place of safety and peace.

  22. K says:

  24. Shirl says:

21 Let them thank the Lord for his steadfast love,
for his wondrous works to the children of man!
    Let the lord bless children

  25. Katrina P says:

Happy Sunday! His steadfast loves endures FOREVER- not once a week or once a month or when things are good or when things are bad solely! He’s always there as long as we seek Him and believe in Him and go to Him for guidance – once we do, His will is done. In moments of worry or decision I remember this as the way to look for calm. Psalm 107:29 He made the storm be still, and the waves of the sea were hushed.

    1. alielle47 says:

Thank you, Katrina P, for your encouraging reminders!

  26. Suzanne says:

When we cry out to God, he is faithful to come to our rescue, but then we need to be faithful to tell others about His love and goodness and faithfulness.

  27. Carie says:

We fail, sin, fall flat on our face…then God in his unfailing love delivers us! We fail again, then he delivers again! Over and over this cycle goes…praising God this morning for His long-suffering and unfailing love for a sinner like me!

    1. Melissa says:

Amen! I’m feeling the same conviction.

    2. Yes! We serve such a loving and truly steadfast God. Amen

  28. Alexis C. says:

    Psalm 109:13 With God we shall do valiantly;
it is he who will tread down our foes.
