Isaiah is definitely kind of hard to understand. But what I am consistently understanding through Isaiah and acts is the awesome, all-consuming faith of these followers of Christ! Walking around naked for three years? Preaching love to a crowd that just tried to kill you? That’s all-consuming faith.

I’ve been reading it alongside the MacArthur study bible and have found that very helpful. Isaiah is also much easier to understand if you have some understanding of the book of Revelation, as some of the prophecies are fulfilled in the Old Testament age and some are to be fulfilled in the final judgment.

Paul uses his position as a Jew and his personal testimony to preach the gospel of Christ to this mob who has beaten him and wants him killed. This is winsomeness in speaking truth in love. He does not sugarcoat the gospel truth, but he does appeal to them with his whole being.

There’s a podcast called the Bible Recap with Tara Lee Cobble that I’ve been listening to in conjunction with some of our readings! Each podcast is 5-10 minutes and it just briefly explains some context and what’s going on. It’s been so helpful for me while reading Isaiah!

That is such a valid point, Marlaena. So many of us would probably turn our backs and not do it out of shame or criticism from others but God is never wrong and he never leaves us, he would walk with us through whatever he requested us to do and be proud of us for standing up to this evil world by doing what he commanded us.
