I can’t help but read this psalm and not think of everyone in Texan and Louisiana who have been faced with such tragedy the past week during hurricane Harvey. As this psalm recounts the book of exodus and all the Israelites endured and overcame my heart prays that every soul overcoming what seems like insurmountable sorrow and loss will keep their eye in God and how He will bring them out of what appears hopeless in the moment. Do not grow weary Texans. God will lead you to His promised land and provide all you need. Surrender, follow Him, and accept His will over your own. My prayers are with you.

  23. SarahMay says:

Sisters, may I ask you to please pray for Houston? I live there but am away and unable to return due to severe flooding, and my coworkers are stuck in the hospital 24/7 since Friday without relief. My sister is there with a 14 day old baby and 4yo son, husband, and my parents, no power, but thankfully no flooding in their home. It is very difficult and will be a long road to recovery. Yet we know:
Ps 105: 42 For He remembered His holy promise
    to Abraham His servant.
43 He brought His people out with rejoicing,
His chosen ones with shouts of joy.
44 He gave them the lands of the nations,
and they inherited what other peoples had worked for.

I have prayed- but appreciate the ability to do it more personally and with passion. I’m a nurse. I cannot imagine the difficulties your coworkers are experiencing!

    4. Papa says:

May God resolve all the problems and bless you and your family especially the new born abundantly with his eternal love and grace. May God be the fortress to all those who are suffering there. Amen

the first verse of this chapter is just amazing! “Give praise to the Lord , proclaim His name;” this makes me think…..first verse, first part of your day, praise Him!!! profound

  29. Christina D. says:

I love the theme of this Psalm…remembering what God has done and the promises He has kept. As the psalmist recounts the miracles and covenants kept through Joseph and Moses I wonder how the psalm of my life would read. Lord, today I ask you to bring to mind reminders of your faithfulness through the years of my life. You have always provided and kept Your promises to me. Nothing I can do would ever be enough so let me only and always say thank you Lord. You have been my comforter, provider, healer, and father. Thank you.

  30. Katrina P says:

Turning to the Lord is always the direction we want to be in! Not just in our actions but in our hearts and our TRUST – His love will then be with us always!

43 So he brought his people out with joy,
    his chosen ones with singing.
44 And he gave them the lands of the nations,
and they took possession of the fruit of the peoples’ toil,
45 that they might keep his statutes
    and observe his laws.
    Praise the Lord!

  31. MarmeeCotton says:

37 He brought them forth also with silver and gold: and there was not one feeble person among their tribes.
Truly a reminder of His great loving kindness. This verse has resounded with me in a very really way today.

  32. Betsy Cooley says:

“Seek his presence continually”…this is what jumped out to me today, and every time I read this Psalm. The ongoing communion of my soul with the Almighty God is the the answer I’m always searching for everywhere else. He would be the balm to my anxiety, the joy to my discouragement, and the lifter of my head…and he graciously is as soon as I run to him, however delayed that moment is!

    1. Christina D. says:

“…the balm to my anxiety”…beautiful words. Thank you for this!

  33. Terri-Kate says:

43 So he brought his people out with joy, his chosen ones with singing.

39 He spread a cloud for a covering,

and gave them bread from heaven in abundance.

Such a good reminder that he can do anything and cares for us so much!

  35. Caitlin says:

5 Remember the wondrous works that he has done,
his miracles, and the judgments he uttered,

Lord let me never forget the wonderful things you have done for me

I love this Psalm. What a great reminder that God always keeps his promises!

  37. Alexis C. says:

    14 he allowed no one to oppress them;
he rebuked kings on their account,
15 saying, “Touch not my anointed ones,
do my prophets no harm!” —-and so He still does for us today, though we do not always see it. He is our Protector.
