22 Stop regarding man
in whose nostrils is breath,
for of what account is he?
Woah–such a powerful perspective. We often get so consumed by the things of creation, whether it be man, or something man has made. Lord let creation never be the destination of our desires. Enable us to always seek to bring glory to You, The Creator, through Your amazing creation. Thank you for every breath, every heartbeat. Let us never lose perspective of how finite we are, and how all encompassing, and ever present you are! May we always seek to please You first, in every aspect of our lives.
This chapter of acts was interesting! The Jewish people in the second city that Paul visited took the time to study scripture and found that Jesus really is messiah. I wonder what would happen if more devout Jews did that today. These verses are also helpful for us as believers. Whenever we are in doubt, we can be confident that Jesus is messiah!
awesome insight! I often times wonder what the Jews of today find wrong in Jesus. I love how rich and ancient their culture is, but how even more beautiful it would be – and how complete it would become if Jesus was seen for who he is – Messiah!
I love Isaiah! These chapters were so good for my soul. So often I forget to look forward to the day when everyone will seen God as He truly is- in beauty, holiness, and majesty! And how sweet is God! That He would cut out the infection (that is painful and seems cruel), but then He binds and brings true healing.
Isaiah 1:18 “Come now, let us settle the matter,”
says the Lord.
“Though your sins are like scarlet,
they shall be as white as snow;
though they are red as crimson,
they shall be like wool.
I love the way God offers opportunity..I think it truly breaks his heart when we turn away. These first few chapters are such a powerful reminder of how God wants our lives with Him to be..but it also shows that it is our choice to turn to Him or not.
Isaiah 2:11 The haughty looks of man shall be brought low,
and the lofty pride of men shall be humbled,
and the Lord alone will be exalted in that day.
I’m reminded constantly by His word to remain humble in all that I do and to everyone I interact with. EVERYTHING good in my life if because of His work in me and I am blessed to have the opportunity to serve others by teaching and coaching them to honor their bodies and selves!
15 When you spread out your hands,
I will hide my eyes from you;
even though you make many prayers,
I will not listen;
your hands are full of blood.
16 Wash yourselves; make yourselves clean;
remove the evil of your deeds from before my eyes;
cease to do evil,
17 learn to do good;
seek justice,
correct oppression;
bring justice to the fatherless,
plead the widow’s cause.
These verses remind me of the church in America, or I should say, some of the churches in America. The ones that tolerate sin and call it “love”.
Lord, show me when I am guilty of this, when I start to bow to the pressure of the culture around me instead of to You!
I so agree! I read verses 15-17 and just thought, “wow… How many of us in America need to hear these words!!” Like, REALLY need to hear this in their hearts! THEN I read verses 18-20 and just thanked God for redemption!!

This passage in Isaiah 1 is one of my life verses. I love how much God cares about justice and compassion!
