May I ponder the way of the blameless as I remember that God heard the cry of this prisoner and set her free to worship

I love how Ps 101 is a personal declaration of clinging to integrity & wisdom and staying far from evil and deceit, just what we’re studying in Proverbs! So timely!
-Starts with praise & worship, acknowledging God’s faithfulness and justice
-Vowing to pay attention to the way & live with a heart of integrity, looking for & actively awaiting its effect in your life
-Not setting things before myself that would give me an opportunity to partake in sin or evil
-Keeping those who are devious and evil far away
-Not allowing intruders in my mind or home which tend toward gossip, slander, arrogance, or pride/haughtiness, lying, or deceitful actions (that gets rid of a lot!)
-Arranging my schedule so that it is weighted toward those who are faithful, loyal, and full of integrity
-Daily re-evaluating who my ‘counselors’ are, and eliminating their influence in my life if they are found to be ungodly

These are challenging tasks for sure. But it all starts with the first point–focusing on God’s faithful love and justice. He will uphold us when we seek to follow Him. He is faithful–may we see His hand at work as we put aside the evil influences in our lives.

Love how you broke psalm 101 down! So good! Especially in light of all the awfulness and hate out there, we have control over what influences us and how we choose to walk our walk!

  12. Kristen Stringer says:

    I absolutely love Psalm 102:12.
“But you, Lord, sit enthroned forever; your renown ENDURES through ALL generations.”
Our world is filled with evil and darkness. It seems as if there is no hope. But this verse reminds us to step back because our God is in control now and FOREVERMORE. We don’t need to continue to worry about the future. He already has a divine plan, and He has it in the palm of His hands. Darkness CANNOT overcome light. And He is the LIGHT OF THE WORLD.

i love how this verse points to Jesus:

“From the heaven the Lord looked at the earth to hear the groans of the prisoners, to set free those who were doomed to die.” – Psalms 102:19-20

    1. Sandy says:

True, I didn’t notice that before, definitely prophetic.

      thanks for sharing!

  14. Bri Clayton says:

Ps 102:4-7. Oh how often we become consumed with our own selves and other people when our real focus should be the One who is Worthy.

    1. Kristen Stringer says:

This is so true! I love it! Thanks for sharing!

  15. Tru says:

Psalms 102:27 But you remain the same, and your years will never end. Amen! Though the times may change and people change, my God has and never will change!

    1. Christina D. says:

This stuck out to me today too! I’m so thankful our God is perfect in everything including his steadfast nature and unchanging character. Sometimes I think it’s hard to believe that God doesn’t change because I’m constantly learning new things about Him. But then I realize it’s me that changes and my new discoveries and revelations have always been. Thank you Lord!

  16. Katrina P says:

Proverbs 100:1 Make a joyful noise to the Lord, all the earth!
2 Serve the Lord with gladness!
Come into his presence with singing! – this takes me to when I began going to church. I remember seeing people moved by the spirit and would wonder when I, too, would be unashamed to lift my arms up and rejoice. When I fully trusted in Him, it happened! I’m now able to sing and rejoice in His love no matter where I am for He saved me from myself and I owe Him so much more! HAPPY SUNDAY!

    1. Leah Swindon says:

Beautifully said! I remember that same type of transition..it’s wonderful isn’t it??

  17. Heather says:

25 “Of old You founded the earth,
And the heavens are the work of Your hands.
    26 “Even they will perish, but You endure;
    And all of them will wear out like a garment;
Like clothing You will change them and they will be changed.
27 “But You are the same,
And Your years will not come to an end.
28 “The children of Your servants will continue,
And their descendants will be established before You.”
-such great promises! The Lord endures forever!

  18. Sandy says:

3 I will not set before my eyes
    anything that is worthless.
So much worthless stuff on TV ! From mindless sitcoms to silly game shows, such time wasters! Yet I can easily be sucked into them, Lord, help me to realize when that is happening and set my mind on things above!

    1. Lisa says:

I was zeroed in on this same verse. TV and the Internet are such time wasters too!

    5. Amanda says:

What are some things you ladies do instead?

      1. Sandy says:

Go for a walk, play with the dog, listen to podcasts of bible teachers, clean house, check out Pinterest(careful there, it’s a time suck, Instagram too, and of course Facebook is the worst), read a good book.

    6. Estera says:

You have a noble desire. Run from evil. Don’t even allow yourself to watch TV if that’s the case.

    7. Kylee says:

Yes yes YES – it re-words it in The Message so I missed this one too! Flipped the translation & wow — so convicting, but so necessarily.
