I am brought to tears when I read this. I am so happy. And so sad to. How his disciples loved him. And oh the joy of being close to their savour. Just knowing that soon he will die. 27. Britt Clark says:

it is absolutely beautiful in John when it says no one will be able to take our joy from us. Many of us are suffering now. We have sorrow and hurt and trials now; when the Lord comes we will rejoice and our hearts will be filled with joy

Time after time Jesus says- in red letters- anything you ask of my father in my name it will be given to you!

So why is it that sooo many time we ask in the name of Jesus, we plead in the name of jesus and it’s not given.

Jesus makes it a priority to let us know hey you just have to ask just knock, just seek it out you’ll find it, you’ll get the answers and the thing you are asking for.

My goal this year is to see this kind of faith come alive by God’s grace, to see our prayers answered. To recieve the things we ask in jesus name !

3Now his master saw that the Lord was with him and how the Lord caused all that he did to prosper in his hand.
2The Lord was with Joseph, so he became a successful man. And he was in the house of his master, the Egyptian.
21But the Lord was with Joseph and extended kindness to him, and gave him favor in the sight of the chief jailer.
    The LORD was with him….
22‘Therefore you too have grief now; but I will see you again, and your heart will rejoice, and no one will take your joy away from you.

  52. Steph C says:

“But the Lord was with Joseph and showed him steadfast love and gave him favor in the sight of the keeper of the prison” (39:21). The faithful love of God … what a theme to dwell on. Even in the midst of sorrow, His love remains ever present, ever sure.

  53. Jamie Chapman says:

Seeing the common theme is God is with us in both these passages. Thru all the trials God was with Joseph and Jesus says I am always with you.

“We have overcome, We are purified, Hidden in the sounds of Christ, He has paid the price, He has brought us near, To behold the Glory if the Lord” -We have Overcome by rivers and robots

  55. Chelsey Faker says:

I do love John 16:33 and it has been a favorite of mine for the past few years. We WILL have tribulation, but we can take heart, take comfort in the fact that Jesus has already overcome the world. We lost our baby 2 years ago, she was stillborn at 37 weeks and this was the verse that stuck to me like glue. And I had peace and joy through it all!

    1. Anna Pease says:

This is so cool to hear. Not that you lost your baby as I can’t imagine what that would be like but for you to be able to have joy through the sorrow.

He really did replace your mourning for dancing and your sorrow into joy!

  56. Amy Beth says:

This is one of those verses you hang onto for dear life… “ I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.”

  58. Alexa H says:

So encouraging to see a man in the Old Testament like Joseph be strong willed and flee from temptation instead of being passive. And loved seeing the Lords favor be with him no matter where he was, in high honor or in prison.

    1. christine Burkhalter says:

I love the image… the Lord is with you… No matter the situation!

  59. Melissa Tiller says:

    ❤️

  60. Sara Fiscus says:

    Day 19

  61. Sarah Knickerbocker says:

“But take heart, I have overcome the world.” There is so much trouble, chaos, and grief in the world today, and it seems so easy to find yourself bogged down in sadness from everything going on around you. But hearing this verse and taking it to heart is a great reminder that God has overcome it all, and one day we will rest in heaven with him, where none of the worldly problems exist.

  62. Tracey Lewis says:

God is so good. He can help us to flee from the temptations of the world just as Joseph did.

  63. Julie Haverdink says:

John 16:21 is the same encouragement I was given by a mentor just yesterday. Our family is going through a hard season and at times the hurt seems like too much to bear. She reminded me that this season is like giving birth. Something beautiful and new is coming but I have to endure the labor pains. What a sweet reminder from God to notice this verse it today’s reading!

    1. Natalie Carter says:

❤️ Nothing is ever wasted with God. Believing for you that the time for beauty is coming.

    2. Donna Valenzuela says:

The groanings and pain that we endure are birthing forth a whole new life, something so unimaginable and so glorious that it must hurt like hell!

    3. christine Burkhalter says:

Thank you for sharing! Beautiful and thoughtful example.

  64. Jenn Lindstrom says:

Great combination of scripture today. We WILL have tribulation. Joseph chose how to respond in his. Even in the midst of the worst of times, the Lord is with His own and working out His divine purposes.

  65. Kacey Jetter says:

So good. So rich. Love the promises and the truth.

  66. Brooke Cousino says:

    ✝️♥️✝️

  67. Ashley Mason says:

Gen 39:2-3: The Lord was with Joseph and he became a successful man, and he was in the house of His Egyptian master. His master saw that the Lord was with him and that the Lord caused all that he did to succeed in his hands.” I pray that it will be clear to others, no matter their position or background, that the Lord is with me. Apart from Him, I’m limited but with the Lord, my hands will prosper.

  68. Mary Ellen Williams says:

The lord blessed all of those around Joseph, even though they may not have been believers. God blesses those around his children, for his children’s sake. I can’t imagine the frustrations that Joseph felt being falsely placed into prison after fleeing this enticing woman. And then interpreting dreams while in prison time and time again but without reprieve. This has taught me that God has a perfect plan, even in what seem like hopeless circumstances.

  69. Emily Morris says:

    ❤️

  70. Sophie McIntosh says:

“Take heart! For I have overcome the world” ❤️

  71. May Alcorn says:

16“A little while, and you will see me no longer; and again a little while, and you will see me.”
Just a little while more! And later- they will not take your joy! So rich!

  72. brightgirl says:

Yes! God was with Joseph and God would be with Jesus as his hour comes. We are never alone.

  73. Tolu says:

God is present throughout the trials. He was with Joseph when he was sold into slavery, framed by Potiphar’s wife, and thrown into prison. (Genesis 39:2, 21, & 23b- “The Lord was with Joseph.”

  74. Chloe says:

If anyone has bought a study book from SheReadsTruth can you explain what it is?

    1. Rachel Linch says:

Just depends on the specific study, but it’s usually just the scriptures from the daily readings in the study- just like if you did it on the app/website. The study books don’t have the added passages written by other women, just the Word and they have space for you to write your response/reflections! They also usually add a few other extra things like hymns, quotes that have to do with the study, recipes, maps, etc. I’ve loved every study book I’ve bought from them, if you are someone who enjoys the writing and physically reading from a “book” I say, go for it! I’d highly recommend them!

  75. Heidi L says:

So refreshing to read Joseph’s life of integrity in Egypt. I wonder if he questioned God in the day to day struggles while being unjustly treated by so many.

  76. Madeline Rose says:

33 Take heart for I have overcome the world. How AMAZING is that! We don’t need to worry because he has already done everything for us! We have such power in us when we use His name! So cool!

    1. Rebecah Isabelle says:

Yes! God is so good. What or who are we to fear? Why be anxious?! HE has overcome the world.

  77. Madeleine says:

22 So also you have sorrow now, but I will see you again, and your hearts will rejoice, and no one will take your joy from you.
    ❤️

  78. Savannah says:

    My thoughts on today’s readings
    1. I hope to become like Joseph, where my heart shines through and people trust me and believe in me based on my actions, so God can use me in their lives
    2. When the world seems hard, remember Jesus has overcome the world

    1. Elizabeth says:

      This is really good!!! Amen

  79. Daphne says:

Jesus ❤️❤️! Love Joseph’s faith as well!

Jesus has overcome the world don’t be afraid

  81. Roxanne says:

John 16:2 – Indeed, the hour is coming when
whoever kills you will think he is offering service to God.
    – not sure why, but this makes me think of ISIS/ISIL. Let us pray for all the misguided people out there

    1. Marnie Jones says:

I thought of the same thing

      1. Savannah says:

        I thought of that too

    2. Cinthya Aspiazu says:

That was my exact thought! Praying for them to find truth in God’s word. Divine intervention
      truth

    3. Elizabeth says:

      I thought the same

  82. Emma says:

Oh that I would flee temptation as Joseph did! What an amazing example!

    1. Kay says:

Love this connection to 1 Corinthians 10:13 No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man. God is faithful, and he will not let you be tempted beyond your ability, but with the temptation he will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it.

Thank you Lord for your faithfulness!

    2. Elizabeth says:

      Yes yes amen!!

    3. Rachel says:

Ohhhh wow you have no idea how much I needed to read exactly that sentence today. Thank you for writing that, and thank you Lord for your perfect timing!

  83. Kate S. says:

Love this: yet I am not alone, my Father is with me. Amen!!

  84. Tate Farris says:

The Lord was with Joseph. The cupbearer did not remember him, but God did!

  85. Hannah says:

“The Lord was with Joseph”…”and his master saw that the Lord was with him”…”but the Lord was with Joseph and showed him mercy, and He gave him favor”…”Because the Lord was with him”. So encouraging that even in the midst of what would seem to be Joseph’s darkest days, the Lord was with him and showed him favor!

  86. Elena Lirio says:

    Glory be to God! ❤️

  87. Elizabeth says:

I love reading by the new and Old Testaments. Great way to start your morning off

    1. Lauren says:

I agree! This will be a great way to study God’s Word!

  88. Emerson says:

I love reading out of both the new and the old testaments. It is like 2 new completely different things that will teach you more about God and his grace.

    1. Laura says:

It’s amazing on days when the OT and NT passages relate and show the consistency throughout God’s Word ;)

  89. katrina evans says:

im behind but just going to start from today
2 kids, 4 dogs and uni work got the better of me!

    1. Bethany says:

Better late than never. Well done! X

    2. Bethany says:

‘Take heart, I have overcome the world’ gives us such peace & encouragement when when we think about the mess that our workd is in.

  90. Ambrowright says:

John 16:2 resonated with me, as my husband is preparing for his 5th deployment to a place filled with people who think their unspeakable acts are pleasing in the site of God. Pray for my husband and pray for our enemies.

    1. Sarah says:

Praying! John 16:33… Oh that peace would fill your heart!! Thank you for reminding us to pray for our enemies as well. It is never to late for the Lord to redeem a soul.

    2. Laura says:

      Praying!

    3. Cinthya Aspiazu says:

Praying Psalms 91 over your husband and all soldiers abroad.

  91. Jess says:

I’m a little late ( I have 3 under 5) but im slowly catching up! Oh I’m so loving my time in the word her at SRT! God is revealing so much to me through his word. I’m in awe and I’m so hungry to keep devouring! I’ve never been this excited about a bible plan.

  92. Rhonda says:

33 ‘These things I have spoken to you, so that in Me you may have peace. In the world you have tribulation, but take courage; I have overcome the world.” This is such a wonderful promise to remember!

  93. Genna says:

I found verses 13 and 14 in Genesis so interesting! The foreshadowing of the cupbearer’s resurrection to his position from his tomb in prison compared to Christ’s just struck me! Surely God was speaking through Joseph to these men. How incredibly the story of our Savior is woven through all these books!

    1. Genna says:

That is chapter 40 by the way

    2. Lisa says:

Thank you for pointing this out, Genna!Totally missed the connection between the two.

  94. Niki says:

Is anyone else finding that the farther we get in this study together; the more they yearn for the Word? I do not find the daily readings to be a chore at all and actually anxiously look forward to my time in the Word each evening. Thankful God led me to SRT, as I had been praying for months for closeness to him and to strengthen our “relationship”. All glory to God! He listens, he directs appropriately!!

    1. Jennifer says:

      Yes, me too : D

    2. EllenW says:

Feeling the exact same way! So refeshing

      1. Yes, I am! I’m loving my daily Bible time & look forward to it daily. <3

    3. Angelyn says:

Yes yes yes!! Thankful God has brought us together for this journey!

      1. Moni says:

I thought of this & feel the same way. I believe it also has to do with the power of the community bonding together, in His word & prayer. This is not just a movement of us…but also a great movement of the Holy Spirit in action! Love it!

  95. Ariadne says:

Thinking that Jesus thought to send me a Comforter…the Holy Spirit does that and more.. God’s love for us is so real..just feeling thankful

  96. Gabrielle says:

And John 16:33 has been my heartbeat all year. Every time I meditate and pray on that passage I learn something new and I am filled with peace. Jesus has gone through worse struggles than I ever will, and he has overcome them. Now he has taken me into his arms so I can overcome my troubles as well. Thank you God!

  97. Gabrielle says:

So even the Egyptian man saw how God provides. This is a good example for everyone to rest in God’s provision. If an unbelieving pharaoh could rest knowing God would provide, we as Christians have definitely got to believe that!

    1. Suzanne says:

at this point, it was Potiphar who had seen God’s hand. Joseph had not been moved up to Pharaoh’s household yet, since the cupbearer hadn’t remembered him.

  98. Erica says:

“22 So with you: Now is your time of grief, but I will see you again and you will rejoice, and no one will take away your joy.” This verse really spoke to me. I needed this

    1. Sarah says:

Erica – I completely agree. I have been in a period of deep sorrow and grieving over the loss of my dearly loved grandpa

  99. Emmagreen says:

Take heart I have overcome the world.

That always hits me hard. It makes me go into this peaceful bliss and gives me that peace that passes all understanding.

Praise Jesus that he has overcome it all for us! His love is so real!

  100. Janet says:

They that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength. Isaiah reminds us that God is preparing us for his purpose and we wait so that we will be equipped. So we can run and not grow weary and rise up on wings like eagles. Many of the great men of God had to wait before God used them, and they were used mightily! So take heart if you feel you are not being used, you are being strengthened for the fight ahead!

    1. Hesaved83 says:

      Amen Janet!

  101. Ruthie says:

God is always faithful even when circumstances seem unfortunate.

  102. MarmeeCotton says:

…be of good cheer; I HAVE overcome the world. Emphasis mine… Hallelujah, come Lord Jesus come!

  103. Bev Brandon says:

Gen 39:18. The cloak was “in her hand” not left beside her. And Joseph goes to a dank dark dungeon for 13 years for that! —where he will wrestle well with his God in silence not knowing what God will do. But cisterns and dungeons cannot contain detain this changing life. Gen 39:2 The Lord was with Joseph in the palace and in the dungeon. Jn 16:33 Joseph finds peace in God not in the world. Oh God! Speak hope in all our circumstances.

    1. Mary Ellen Williams says:

Amen. This same thing really gripped my heart this morning

  104. Andrea says:

Soooo grateful to the God who gives us peace and joy and for the incites from all of you. As I am inching toward my 30th birthday feeling like I haven’t done anything with my life, I’m reminded to trust in The Lord and wait on his timing, being faithful in what he’s given me.

  105. Morgan says:

I’m so thankful for this app. I learn so much just reading everyone’s comments. It’s neat the way God gifts His children so differently to work together for His glory. Our joy is made complete in Him. I think Joseph had to have been completely satisfied in Him because he didn’t give in to Potiphar’s temptations. He simply trusts in who God is, and I want to be like that.

    1. Heather says:

The world needs more Josephs! :)

  106. Chelsie says:

I was struck with the fact that although Joseph was doing everything right and for the glory of God, things still did not go well for him. He was sent to prison even though he did the right thing, the cupbearer did not remember him, etc. It gives me hope that we are not to look to the world for our reward/blessing but that it is stored up in heaven. Also we may not know or understand the reasons of God and what is happening in our personal experiences, but He ultimately has a greater purpose which will work out for good. Praise be to God! We only need to trust and obey and have faith!

    1. So true. We often can’t see why we are going through the things we’re going through…but we have to understand that his purpose is greater.

  107. Laura says:

I was struck by Joseph’s patience. Every time it seemed like things were getting better they got worse. Like after the wife accused him of idolatry then the cup bearer forgot about him. How easy it is to be discouraged by circumstances and troubles of this world. I pray that I will have a more eternal focus as I am in a period of waiting uncertainty.

  108. Sarah says:

I love that Joseph didn’t even mess with the temptation of Potiphar’s wife! In verse 10 of chapter 39, it says “And though she spoke to Joseph day after day, he refused to go to bed with her or even be with her.” He didn’t put himself in any sticky situation, he just avoided her the best he could! Oh how I pray I avoid sin and temptation as he did!

    1. Meagan S says:

Sarah, I agree! It even says that the time she finally cornered him was when no other servants were around. He was probably very careful to be around others. And then when he saw she was serious, he RAN from the temptation. Imagine a 27 or 28-year-old man running from a powerful woman who was throwing herself at him. Lots of lessons to be learned from his response to temptation!

  109. Jennifer says:

God will never leave us alone and even after Jesus says he has to leave he would not leave us without anything so he will send an Advocate!

7 But very truly I tell you, it is for your good that I am going away. Unless I go away, the Advocate will not come to you; but if I go, I will send him to you.

That’s amazing…similar to Joseph because although he was placed in unfortunate circumstances God already had everything planned out for greatness as many of us have taken away from today’s passages. God did it then and he still continues to be the same yesterday today and tomorrow. Amen!

  110. Joanie says:

I love the story of Joseph. Every time I read it, I am reminded that God’s ways are not our ways. The things that happen to him seem so unfair and undeserved, yet God uses these events to prepare him for future callings. The same is true for us. We are just asked to be faithful in what God places in our paths. Live for the Lord. (Started late and finally caught up!)

  111. Brit'nay says:

    Such a wonderful reminder:(

  112. Maddie says:

I love that The Lord had His own timing and plan all worked out before Joseph even got there. Joseph had the dream of his brother bowing before him as a teenager- but the dream did not come true until he was in his thirty’s!! I’m sure there were times in that span of about 22 years that Joseph was thinking “Come on Lord, remember that dream you gave me?” But the Lord was unwavering, because Joseph had a lot of growing to do. It says twice in Genesis 39 that the Lord was with Joseph and blessed everything He did. Through the time in the hole, as a slave, and in prison- the Lord was shaping Joseph into the man He wanted Him to be. How beautiful! Even in our difficult times, we can be confident that we are not unseen. God knows every detail and He is right there with us through it all.

  113. Abigail says:

33 “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”

    1. Cecalee says:

Yes! This spoke to me so greatly! What an amazing God we have

  114. Katie Hentges says:

    amen!

  115. Ariel says:

I pray that as I start my day & as some of you ladies go throughout the rest of yours, that the Spirit continually reminds us of true joy. I pray that no matter the circumstances and challenges we may or may not face today, tomorrow, and so forth, and no matter how resistant or hearts may or may not be in the moment, that we can fix our eyes on God and say, “thank you,” and rejoice in Him & His promise. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

    Ariel

  116. Madison Presenza says:

How often do we ask for help from Jesus just as the cupbearer did of Joseph and then forget Him after we are free from our current struggle?! We can not forget thanksgiving…

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.” Philippians 4:6

    1. Katie Hentges says:

Hmmm.. How true and convicting that is!!

    2. Libby says:

      So true Madison!!

    3. Miranda Olin says:

The line of the cupbearer forgetting about Joseph stuck out to me too. I would like to make more efforts to remember and be thankful.

  117. Katie Hentges says:

21 ‘Whenever a woman is in labor she has pain, because her hour has come; but when she gives birth to the child, she no longer remembers the anguish because of the joy that a child has been born into the world. 22 ‘Therefore you too have grief now; but I will see you again, and your heart will rejoice, and no one will take your joy away from you.

This passage stuck out to me in John just because I am almost two weeks away from my due date and I definitely feel the weight and sorrow of know what I have to endure and just clinging to the joy that comes after!! Great insight into what Christ had to endure on the cross… Knowing the anguish and pain and sorrow he would have to endure on the cross and His Father having to forsake him and then knowing the joy that comes after the sorrow as Christ brought new life to us! Oh may I use my time in labor to remember what Christ did for me to bring me new life and the joy that can from the sorrow of the Cross!

    1. Christina says:

Katie this stood out to me too in a new way as I have a 7 month old daughter (my first). I was just telling another friend today how so often we are filled with anxiety and fear about childbirth because people sure do want to share their horror stories! I think you have such a unique and God-centered perspective and just want to encourage you that it will be wonderful. Not many people would describe childbirth as wonderful but I am certain that you will feel the Lord with you and know that you were created to have this baby. It is a miracle like no other and though the pain is real the joy is 10,000 times more abundant and like the scripture says, will cause you to forget! I am praying for you to have a fast and easy labor and that the days ahead will be filled with a joy that outshines any difficulties!

      1. Katie Hentges says:

        Thank you Christina :-)

    2. Ellena says:

Wow Amen.. I am two months away from my due date and getting alittle scared as well. Thank you for sharing this!

  118. Holly says:

I’m getting a late start but I love this. “In a little while you will see me no more, and then after a while you will see me”

  119. Jaida says:

Joseph was 17 when sold into slavery, 30 when pharaoh promoted him, was in prison for 2 years before that, was in Potiphar’s house for 11. So for those who are feeling weary about God’s blessing on their lives and the time it’s taking for that to come into the full measure that He has, what a wonderful story to look to in the Bible for hope and encouragement! 11 years!

  120. Jaida says:

I am SO encouraged by Joseph. One, even in the toughest places, places God doesn’t even will us to be in, He can STILL bless us and turn evil for good in HIS way and timing. We know it’s always better than ours. Second, 39:3 “when his master saw that the Lord was with him and that the Lord made everything he did successful, Joseph found favor in his masters sight” ..Joseph TRUSTED In God in his circumstances and did what he was told and was blessed because of God and I believe that showed Potiphar that God is REAL. How relevant is this for us? The way we work with diligence, the way we handle situations that arise in our homes and workplace.. We are Gods representatives here on earth and we are supposed to reflect His glory. People are supposed to see something’s different in us and I believe that’s exactly what happened with Potiphar :) (side note: I read that Potiphar means “Devoted to the sun”)..Ahh I’m only 3 lines in to today’s reading and I HAD to post this already sorry!!!

    1. Beth says:

Wonderful connections Jaida and an important reminder that we reflect Gods glory everyday here on earth. May we always reflect him in a positive and loving way!

  121. Libby says:

33 ‘These things I have spoken to you, so that in Me you may have peace. In the world you have tribulation, but take courage; I have overcome the world.”
In this world it’s hard to find peace…But if we belong to Him, we already know peace!

In correlation to what Joseph was going through, he had to have had the peace of God dwelling in him to endure! Think about the things we go through, relatively small things compared to Joseph. Do we show the peace of God dwelling in us!? I pray that I always show the JOY I have in my heart because Jesus lives there, even when my circumstances aren’t joyful!

    1. Katie Hentges says:

Thank you for sharing how the Lord connected these Scriptures in your heart!! Great encouragement as well as conviction!!

    2. Leah says:

I was just about the comment on the connection between these two passages as well! John 16:33 has always been one of my favorite verses. I saw so clearly today how even God’s chosen people (aka Joseph) endured worldly tribulations. But God is good, and He has overcome the world for us! I pray that we remember this always.

  122. Rebecca says:

33 “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”
    – one of those verses that always comforts me.

    1. Amy says:

Yes, me too. Love that verse!

    2. Leah Swindon says:

Me too! It says so much with so few words!

  123. Katie says:

I was struck by how the Egyptians could SEE that the Lord was blessing Joseph… Because Joseph gave Him the glory? Because he radiated Gods love? However it was known, may it be so for us!

    1. Kaitlin says:

I was struck by the same words! May those that see me in the everyday things also see the Spirit in me!

  124. Anne-Marie says:

I love how Joseph points everything back to God- when he does not lay with Potiphar’s wife because he does not want to sin against God, and when he says that interpretation of dreams belong to God- he has many a opportunity to put the glory on himself but he doesn’t. Oh how the LORD is with him, though. So amazing to see the steadfastness of our God and the salvation of Israel starting. His glory reigns over everything.

  125. Anna Dunner says:

A part of this reading that really strikes me today is the last part of John. I struggle so much with the idea of being in the world and not yet of the world, in short, it reminds me to keep my focus on Jesus and everything else will be set into place. God Bless, peace and Grace.

    1. Shaina says:

A boat can be in the ocean, but it doesn’t float if the ocean is in the boat. That’s how I’ve always pictured being “in the world, but no part of the world”

      1. Anna Dunner says:

Shaina I love this representation. Thank you so much for sharing. I won’t forget it.

      2. Jennifer says:

I love that image. Thank you!

  126. Antimony says:

Joseph must have felt like God had forgotten about him. Almost killed by his brothers, sold as a slave, wrongly accused of immorality, cast into prison, and forgotten by the one man that had any influence over Pharaoh. But Genesis reminds us that God was with Joseph. God saw the big picture. And He was working things out for Joseph’s good, the salvation of Israel, and His glory.

  127. Natasha Rouse says:

Hi Everyone, have just caught up and am loving the daily ritual of this. Noticed the beautiful references to JOY in today’s readings: let us remember that ‘no one can take your joy away from you’, combine that with the wonderful fullness of the phrase ‘ask and receive so that your JOY may be made full’. I pray that you all glimpse full joy today. x natasha

  128. Sofia Ignacio says:

The peace of God transcends all understanding, my friends! Great things happen when we know the power and love of God, and keep it in our hearts.

  129. Jess says:

The Lord was with Joseph… How precious are those words! The cupbearer forgot him, but the Lord didn’t. Joseph was watched over and cared for in his darkest days. This is a great comfort for us when we are in deep waters. Despite our circumstances, the Lord is with us and has not forgotten us.

    1. Caitlin says:

      Amen!

    2. sarah says:

This reminds me that we need to put our hope in the Lord not in humans. Our hope must be in HIM, the one who always stays, remembers, never forsakes.

    3. Kashema says:

      So good! Thank you, God!

  130. It never really says. Just that the baker and cupbearer were put in prison because they offended the pharaoh. My guess is his offense was greater. It is written so point blank, so it definitely does leave you wondering!

  131. Cristina says:

I couldn’t figure out why the baker was impaled… Does anyone know?

    1. Moni says:

I am not really sure, but one point I am thinking about is that the baker only asked for his dream interpretation after he noticed the cupbearer received a “favorable interpretation”… In his case, it was definitely ~not~ favorable, yet God warned him for some reason, and there was definitely no sugar coating by Joseph! And point in fact, not every aspect of our lives are favorable… Maybe if we had a 3 day warning, we can ponder on what we would do. Ignore it, pray for strength to endure it, pray for forgiveness…repent?! Just a thought.

    2. Moni says:

I find it interesting how Joseph was favored by God, and his love for God in return… If you look at the family dynamics and genealogy, lots of his family members were not walking with God faithfully…yet Joseph was different. Does it fall back on “choice”, our desire to be close to God?! It is indeed a personal walk, and journey! We can’t not force a Godly walk onto anyone, nor will anyone choose that for us. I wonder too, how Joseph’s journey could have hardened him…and yet, the same humble journey, made him a strong man, favored by God! So much to ponder on…

    3. Moni says:

Cristina, my second reply was supposed to be stand alone…but got tagged to your comment. :)

    4. Mommynightowl says:

No, but I was wondering how the cupbearer forgot about Joseph after he foretold the baker being impaled and left out to be eaten by birds. I could see him forgetting if it was just him. Maybe he was just so happy to be back at work. But then to see that horrific death, and not think “hmmm, this actually sounds familiar. Serious déjà vu. Oh yeah, that guy in jail. Joesph”

      1. Moni says:

I thought of that too, and made two conclusions (my two cents take! :). He either was afraid, did not know when to bring it up before Pharaoh & waited for the right opportunity, or God simply made him forget so he remembers right when it was the right time to disclose it…as right after the interpretation, Joseph was made in charge of everything. I would imagine the “timing” was the issue.

      2. Aria says:

Maybe he wanted Joseph to suffer more…

      3. Aria says:

Or maybe he was to much of an official that he didn’t want to look like a beggar asking for Joseph?

      4. Aria says:

Sorry, to proud of himself to ask for Joseph

      5. Elizabeth says:

The way I interpreted that was that he didn’t actually forget, he just chose not to help Joseph.
