  1. Vanessa says:

Amen. God is capable of both good and evil. If we are followers of Christ, we need to turn from our wicked ways now.

    1. Kylee says:

I am not sure that’s right – God is incapable of doing evil!!! He allows evil to take place when we stop seeking Him, but fundamentally God is not able to be both good and evil. He is all good!

      1. Maria says:

Does God allow evil or is evil a result of the world that we live in that is no longer in relationship or shalom with God?

  2. Heidi L says:

I know this is a common verse for the National Day of Prayer (2 Chron 7:14 “…(if) My people who are called by My name humble themselves and pray and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, will forgive their sin and will heal their land”) & it’s principle applies to all believers in a sense — not as a prosperity type truth, or an automatic if-then condition. But I wonder is this a PROMISE to the Jews? When the Jewish people turn to the Lord Jesus & take the scripture to heart, would Israel again regain its sanctified position–Where all the people of the earth would know that the Lord is God and fear Him? Would Israel then recover the covenant land that God gave Abraham back in Genesis?

Very cool thought! I’m reading “a case for Christ” by lee strobel (I highly recommend it, I love how historically accurate and rooted our God is!). But in one chapter, strobel speaks with a man who converted from Judaism to Christianity. His story is awesome, but part of it is that arguements against Jesus as messiah were just full of fallacy. They didn’t stand up. When Jewish scholars or leaders tried to prove that Jesus didn’t satisfy all the prophecies, their logic and conclusions were just wrong. But many Jewish people just hear the arguments and don’t dig deeper for family or cultural reasons.

      1. Gabrielle says:

*But this man did dig deeper and he found Christ!

  3. Colleen says:

Having grown up (and subsequently walking away from) in a faith tradition that placed alot of emphasis on everything other than a personal relationship with Christ – these words of Jesus really stood out to me today in Luke 11:27 “As he said these things, a woman in the crowd raised her voice and said to him, “Blessed is the womb that bore you, and the breasts at which you nursed!” 28 But he said, “Blessed rather are those who hear the word of God and keep it!” Not sure I’ve ever really read these words before….

    1. Gabrielle says:

That’s pretty amazing to hear Colleen. It’s awesome how God speaks to us when we don’t expect it and especially through scripture that we might usually glaze over. That last line struck me too. It’s easy to fall on either side of being a Christian- focusing too much on being “good” or focusing on just knowledge about God, that this verse is a reminder just to focus back on Jesus and all will align.

I think I understand what you’re saying – the same thing struck me for the first time when I read this and I thought it was very enlightening!

  4. Leah Swindon says:

Luke 11:8 I tell you, even though he will not get up and give you the bread because of friendship, yet because of your shameless audacity he will surely get up and give you as much as you need.

Shameless audacity..I never really noticed that phrase before, but let us be bold and shameless in the eyes of God. We can only do that because of his grace, but what a wonderful reminder!

  5. Maria says:

Loved reading all about Solomon ‘s God given wisdom & the detail & order in which God had him set up the temple and organize & provide for his household and the kingdom of Israel. Complete Success. Then we read what Jesus says.in Luke after teaching the disciples about prayer V. 17 …’Every kingdom divided against itself is laid waste, and a divided household falls. ‘

Setting up and KEEPING a godly home ( our Temple to The Lord) takes constant planning, communication (prayer) executing , adjusting, more communication etc. in order to present a house UNITED to the Lord at the end of our lives. ( ie the jobs not done when they turn 18!) leaving a godly family legacy is the ultimate success but also takes a lifetime of prayer & hard work.

  6. Grace says:

Wow I don’t think there was anyone as richly blessed as king Solomon – pure gold this, a couple thousand this and full of wisdom to top it all off! I loved when the Queen of Sheba came in to test Solomon cos I thought she might be bad but she was able to see for herself the God that the King served and was greatly blessed herself. I really enjoyed today’s readings especially since I’ve been finding the last week quite hard to get through so I just thank and praise God for that.

  7. Shirl says:

28 But he said, “Blessed rather are those who hear the word of God and keep it!”

  8. Brittnie says:

23 Whoever is not with me is against me, and whoever does not gather with me scatters. – powerful reminder!
