What wisdom Abigail had. The Bible said she made haste meaning she acted immediately. How often do I know what’s right but do not make haste. There is so much to learn from her.
Okay. I was struggling with the David and Abigail story. It had been a while since I had last heard it and I assumed they were going to get together in the end. Nonetheless, I literally said “NOOOOO” out loud when I heard David took Abigail as his wife. All I could think of was Michal. Then at the end of the passage, Michael is married to someone else. Broke my heart. Maybe I’m just culturally looking at this passage through my own, American lens. Still, heartbroken.
What a challenge!! When was the last time that I BEGGED for the privilege of giving to others?? Spoiler alert: I haven’t. Beautiful words. 3 For they gave according to their means, as I can testify, and beyond their means, of their own accord, 4 begging us earnestly for the favor of taking part in the relief of the saints— 5 and this, not as we expected, but they gave themselves first to the Lord and then by the will of God to us.
9 For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though he was rich, yet for your sake he became poor, so that you by his poverty might become rich.
12 For if the readiness is there, it is acceptable according to what a person has, not according to what he does not have. 13 For I do not mean that others should be eased and you burdened, but that as a matter of fairness 14 your abundance at the present time should supply their need, so that their abundance may supply your need, that there may be fairness.
Hi girls! I got really behind at the beginning of this month but I finally caught up! One thing I want to share is that right after I started reading again I was handed some tough challenges, but in the Lords grace I could handle them thanks to Him! In His mercy he waited to give me challenges until I was abiding in Him again. David’s ability to rise above his human desires and follow the will of God always amazes me. Lord, help me to become more like Daniel, seeking your will over my own
(39-40 When David heard that Nabal was dead he said, “Blessed be God who has stood up for me against Nabal’s insults, kept me from an evil act, and let Nabal’s evil boomerang back on him.”
Then David sent for Abigail to tell her that he wanted her for his wife. David’s servants went to Abigail at Carmel with the message, “David sent us to bring you to marry him.”)
When someone hurts us or does us wrong, our flesh wants to get them back and hurt them like they hurt us but these verses show that God has us covered. Some call it karma – I call it God having my back.
1 Sam 26:23 The Lord rewards everyone for their righteousness and faithfulness. The Lord delivered you into my hands today, but I would not lay a hand on the Lord’s anointed.
David’s ability to rise about human desires and intents is so amazing to me. How often do we strike back when we are wronged..even to our own brothers and sisters in Christ? I love this reminder that God has this..our lives, the plans of the future..way bigger than we can see or imagine. Let’s be faithful, and strive to be righteous..that’s what he asks from us!
.… excel also in this grace. 2 Cor 8:7. It’s all grace, every good in us is His grace to us. How much more of His grace do I need to receive! Grace, What a sweet word.

2for in a severe test of affliction, their abundance of joy and their extreme poverty have overflowed in a wealth of generosity on their part.

The way God takes care of David is amazing!! (And the way David completely trusts God to take care of him!)
21for we aim at what is honorable not only in the Lord’s sight but also in the sight of man. -ellie
May we also b discerning as Abigail, knowing the sovereign will of God and keeping it at the forefront as we make decisions and seek to obey the Lord.

That verse stood out to me as well!
