16But I will sing of your strength;
I will sing aloud of your steadfast love in the morning.
For you have been to me a fortress
and a refuge in the day of my distress.
God is protective of his children, especially when they are in trouble. But sometimes we have to ask him for help of tell him we are in trouble, and David does just that
I am so thankful that I can run to God, my refuge, when I feel surrounded on all sides. He alone can strengthen us for the inevitable storms of life and can pull us through! Praise and honor to our Fortress!
Trusting God is not easy because of our nature…we always want to take control. But these psalms remind us to take refuge in Him, to remember his strength in contrast to our weakness, and to remember He goes before is and paves a way for us to walk in.
Psalm 57: 1 Have mercy on me, my God, have mercy on me,
for in you I take refuge.
I will take refuge in the shadow of your wings
until the disaster has passed.
Psalm 59: 16 But I will sing of your strength,
in the morning I will sing of your love;
for you are my fortress,
my refuge in times of trouble.
17 You are my strength, I sing praise to you;
you, God, are my fortress,
my God on whom I can rely.
16 But I will sing of your strength;
I will sing aloud of your steadfast love in the morning.
For you have been to me a fortress

It’s so easy to say “God is my strength” but to actually walk it out can be so scary and difficult… It’s against our flesh to trust something that is not tangible. We wake up every morning and place our feet on the ground day after day, we trust the ground will be there. Yet, in difficult times we must also trust Yahweh even more so than we unthinkingly trust the ground under our feet.
16But I will sing of Your strength and will joyfully proclaim Your faithful love in the morning. For You have been a stronghold for me, a refuge in my day of trouble.
It’s hard for me to ask for help in hard times.
