Knowing the story about how the Lord brought the Israelites makes me think of mine and how much it points to God and challenges me to not fall away in serving him.
19 Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, 20 for you were bought with a price. So glorify God in your body. – 1 Corinthians 6:19-20
Such a power scripture

Thanks for sharing such a great article and enlightening us on this crucial topic. The end time is upon us and the second coming of our Lord “Jesus Christ” is coming. Still, many people don’t believe it even after seeing situations like Coronavirus all around the world. I suggest you guys read a book on bible prophecies about end-time if you don’t want to read the Holy Bible. I personally start with the book “Nation at a Crossroad” and that gives me the motivation to read the Holy Bible and understand God Almighty. So, you can prepare for that time. Thanks again. I love reading your article.
It’s so cool to read about what the Bible says I am… a temple, treasured, bought with a price. What an awesome identity that I don’t deserve but was given anyway.
…, to love the Lord your God, and to walk in all his ways and to keep his commandments and to cling to him and to serve him with all your heart and with all your soul.” Love that this is so consistent from OT to NT!
I need to look up what the judging angels by elect? possibly is about?!
One verse that struck my heart was in 1 corinthians 6:1 “when one of you has a dispute with another believer, how dare you file a lawsuit and ask a secular court to decide the matter instead of taking it to other believers?”
So many times I have fallen short of this trying to seek wisdom during adversity from those who are apart of the secular court, turning to any ear close by for reassurance that my actions and words are right. When the Bible so clearly advises us to seek counsel from the wise for the opinions of the wicked are of no value. I will keep this verse in the forefront of my mind when adversity rises so that I am more intentional with whom I seek counsel and how I speak.
I also loved reading 1 Corinthians 6:11 such a sweet and gentle reminder that as I walk this journey born again through Christ my old sins are no longer being used to define me, for God paid a high price for me.
“‘Everything is permissible for me,’ but not everything is helpful. ‘Everything is permissible for me,’ but I will not be brought under the control of anything” (1 Cor 6:12). This has been such a struggle for me. I am overweight and unhealthy. It limits my ability to do things. I know that this doesn’t please God, but I’ve given in to my desires so many times that my willpower is just shot. I need to evaluate food, sleep, activity in this light: “Is it helpful? Is it addictive or controlling?” If either is a yes, I should not partake. My body is the temple of God.
1 Corinthians 6:11, “And such were some of you. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.”
Understanding that I am bought with a high price through the blood of Jesus Christ makes all the difference in my personal lifestyle. It doesn’t only touch the sexual area of our lives but also how we treat our physical body. Do we things that would keep our bodies healthy? Do we sleep early so our bodies can function well the next day as we do the tasks the Lord has given us? Do we glorify the Lord in the way we dress up ourselves? The world tells us to show this and show that because it’s your body anyway. But the thing is, as clearly stated, that we do not own our bodies. We do not belong to ourselves. We belong to God. He bought us; thus, act and project yourself accordingly to His will, knowing that our bodies are a temple of the Holy Spirit ♥️
I know the discussion started a year ago. I’m a nurse and meet many people in gay partnership. The way I’ve handled this is to think to my self that caring for someone is not a sin. Having sex with someone is – if they aren’t our spouse of an opposite sec. I just remind myself that living together is not the problem. And I have no idea whether they really have sex or not. Just like any other couple. That is between them and God.
Ugh! I can’t erase this? I didn’t mean to post it. Sometimes I write my thoughts then erase them. But I accidentally hit post while typing!! But now I guess I’ll have to finish. Being effeminate or masculine by birth is not a sin. It’s just that sex part. Every sexual act is a decision. Homosexual or heterosexual. Isn’t it? We all have decisions to make. We have all had opportunity for sexual sin. I must love everyone with the love of Christ and keep pointing myself and others to a right, choice -transforming life of following Him. That’s my only duty. Love.snd point the Way. He transforms us. Characteristics are not a sin.
I agree. It is like comparing temptation to the actual commitment of the sin. It is one thing to be tempted, but to act on/follow through with the temptation with action is sin.
I know I’m a little late to this, but I completely agree with you. I think you’re approaching it the right way and that’s also the way I interpret it. Too often I feel like homosexuals are told they are living in sin but no one actually reaches out to them to try to help them.
Yes such a controversial issue, thank you so much for your insights that we all have our own struggles. It makes me think of our Christian brothers and sisters who endure so much suffering and even give up their ‘right’ to their very lives in order to stand for God’s truth. Let alone their sexuality. Walking in God’s will is never easy – but understanding that our struggles can’t compare to the joy awaiting us for all eternity in heaven really helps me focus.
I have so much deep admiration for those who don’t cling to their rights and give up much/sacrifice much in order to walk God’s will. That is so much the likeness of Jesus and those people are my inspiration as well every day!
Thank you for the incredible respectful dialogue on this controversial topic of homosexuality within the church. Here is a link by Ravi Zacharias that touches on Abby’s comment above… http://youtu.be/CIw6ngIqaD0
Let’s continue to search the scriptures, OT & NT and live by Gods original design for for male & female, and for marriage found in Gen 1-2. “but for Adam there was not found a helper suitable for him so the Lord God caused a deep sleep to fall upon the man and he slept … And God fashioned into a woman the rib which He had taken from the man and brought her to the man…for this reason a man shall leave his father and mother, and be joined to his wife, and they shall become one flesh and the man and his wife were both naked and were not ashamed.”
God Bless everyone! Is more clear than water that our bodies, spirit and mind belongs to God. Who bought us with His holy blood. In ours prayer ask God for forgiveness and clean us for the impurities of the flesh.
Abby…very well said indeed! That’s an amazing point and Im so glad you posted! Bless you for speaking God’s Word!
It saddens me that so many Christians are being pulled in this way. God does not make anyone gay. It is a lie straight from the pits of hell.
It was a spirit 2000 years ago, and God never changes. His word never changes and what was a homosexuality spirit then is one now.
We as Christians need to stop trying to “get with the times”
The holy and PERFECT Word of God calls us to come out from amongst them! To be a separated people! Unfortunately many of us are fitting right in.
Yes we need to love everyone, but we don’t have to love sin. It’s tricky and we all have struggles, but the same power that rose Jesus up from the grave lives inside of us! We have the power through Jesus to make it through! Hallelujah!
Starting this plan today and I’m excited for what’s to come!
My pastor spoke about this briefly on Sunday and brought up such an amazing point that I had never viewed before. He said that one of his pastor friends told him a story of how he and this young man, who was gay, were talking about homosexuality and the young man said “I can’t change this, this is the way I was born” and the pastor replied “me too”. And obviously you can imagine how confused the young man was, but the pastor went on saying “…I was born greedy, and selfish, and lustful, etc.” and the pastor begins to tell the young man that the devil will do anything he can go pervert the way of The Lord, and he’s good at it, he’s the master of it, but we have to solely base what we believe on the word of God. We were all born with different “struggles” but God has “rules” for a reason. He LOVES us and wants the absolute BEST for His children! So yes, I do believe that we all are born with our different personal struggles, but God never intended us to handle that on our own. We have to trust and obey Him and His word.
Amen yes! This is the way I always look at it. Some were born with a tendency to lie, steal, have an awful temper, to have homosexual tendencies – all born into sin because of Adams fall. We can’t change that but the blood of Jesus can! It would be ridiculous to keep stealing because ‘that’s the way I was born’. That’s why we need Jesus.
I respectfully cannot agree that God “made” anyone gay. that would totally go against everything He says about gender and marriage and relationships. However, I do believe that Satan uses that whole issue, along with many others, to confuse people, to pull them away from following God’s commands, and to keep them from being effective for the kingdom. I will pray for you and your brother to know the right way to handle this.
Ladies I know this is a controversial topic, but I need some guidance…..I grew up with a younger brother who is gay. I’ve known this about him before he was even old enough to make a choice. I truly believe that God made him this way for many reasons, one of which is to help me become more like Christ. I have never felt more like Jesus than I am when I am loving him and showing him compassion and sacrificing for the love of him the way Jesus did for us. I need guidance for how to deal with the fact that it plainly states “men who have sex with men will not inherit the Kingdom of God.” I am not ok with thinking God who made him this way will send him to hell for it. Can I have some advice or guidance on how to deal with these feelings?
Most Christian counselors will agree that most people who struggle with homosexuality were sexually abused as young children. Sexual abuse causes so much confusion, especially for children. Perhaps this is something you could investigate regarding your brother.
I think it is great that you are showing grace and compassion to your brother. The best thing you could do is point him to the gospel of Jesus.
I believe that God created us exactly how were intended to be–including our sexuality. Its awesome to hear how loving you are to your brother. That is a testament to your faith and understanding of the true message of Christ. I believe that God is more gender fluid and understanding of sex than we can understand. We call Him Father and use male pronouns, but God is neither male nor female. And we were made in the imagine and likeness of him. We were made with similar love, compassion and NEED for community. Keep that in mind. I hope that helps sister!
Amy, Jesus himself gave us the New Commandment at the Last Supper, superseding all other laws and commandments: Love one another as I love you. Homosexuality is a physical condition that some people are born with – neither a choice nor the product of childhood abuse or environment. Your brother is God’s beloved child, just the way he is. We are to fight against all our human tendencies that are not loving: greed, selfishness, lying, harming others, etc. But for your brother to love whoever he loves and for all people to love him is exactly in accordance with Jesus’ commandment. The Bible is the Word of God written by human hands, humans who existed in a time, place, and culture and interpreted God’s Word through their own experiences and beliefs. Paul’s comments on slavery, the role of women, and homosexuality are those of a man of his time trying to apply the message he received from God. But just as Jesus’ command to love one another means that it is not ok to enslave another person or to force a woman to submit to any harsh treatment by her husband, that command means that it is not ok to be less than loving and accepting of homosexuals and trust that God also loves them. Your brother, you, and your whole family are in my prayers.
J24:31 “Israel served the Lord all the days of Joshua and all the days of the elders who survived Joshua, and had known all the deeds of the Lord which He had done for Israel”. The influence of a godly man on an entire generation. They had seen it and knew it to be true. They stayed faithful even after that man died
1 Corinthians 6 in the latter verses really stood out to me: my body is a sacred place where He lives, where he resides and reigns. I don’t get another body on earth, therefore I am very convicted to keep his sacred place, my body, pure. This especially stands out more when you read about how valuable and holy the temple was in the OT…in the same manner my body is holy Because Christ and the Holy Spirit live there…
I love that Joshua 24 is basically a reiteration of the Israelites’ testimony. I feel like over the years I’ve felt more and more removed from my earlier days when I first came to know God. I forget to look back and see how far God has brought me. But today I’m remembering the testimony he has given me, the bondage he has released me from, and all the things God has done in my life to bring me to where I am now. Praise God!
I love this so much and I read it right after my mom and I had just spoken about praying for our families and our many blessings. Praise the Lord for He is great in all He does.
Y”ou know with all your heart and soul that not one of all the good promises the Lord you God has failed. Every promise has been fulfilled; not one has failed.” Our God is so faithful!
1Corinthians 6:19 Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; 20 you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your bodies.
Strong reminder to live our lives in a way that is God pleasing since His son died for our sins (“… You were bought at a price”)
I love you, Jesus ❤️
