  14. Julie Stein says:

    Create in me a clean heart O God and renew a steadfast spirit within me. This speaks to any area of idolotry or sin that I may have.

  15. Kendall Hampton says:

    I am really struggling with sacrifice and executing God’s will. I want to pursue God more than anything, but I feel like I’m too attached to man’s opinion. There’s a battle within myself and I trust God has an amazing plan for my future but I still struggle. Any wisdom on just letting go and showing my full trust in God?

    1. Suzanne Jones says:

      Kendall, have you tried keeping a journal about how God has been faithful when you have trusted him and been obedient to His will? When you do this you have a personal testimony of His faithfulness to you and you can go back and reassure yourself with your own story.

    2. Kalyn Narramore says:

      Following Jesus isn’t the easy way, Kendall, but it is the only way! A journal sounds like a great idea for you. I’ve kept prayer journals on and off for many years and when I’m struggling I go back and see what God has accomplished on my prayer lists I never get up struggling. Battle is to be expected, but your Savior has already battled son and death for you and won! Remember Jesus, himself, said I John that there is no greater love than one who gives his life for his friends. If we are his friends we will obey his commands. Loving God and wanting to pursue Him is the fuel for the fire of obedience! Obedience is laying down what we battle with and going forth in what He has commanded! God bless you on your journey. I’ll be praying for you!

  17. Sarah Johnson says:

    Restore to me the joy of your salvation and grant me a willing spirit to sustain me today!

  18. Charis Schneeberger says:

    God doesn’t care about what I do so much as it is about my heart.
    Obviously if I’m sinning in action then I’m sinning in heart but sometimes I’m doing “good” things in action and still sinning in my heart.
    PRIDE
    Lord, forgive me

  19. Rosalie Danek says:

    Jewish animal sacrifices stopped in 70 AD when the city of Jerusalem and the temple was destroyed. Jesus foretold this would happen. Matthew 24:1-2 and Luke 19:41-45 are 2 references where this is recorded.

  20. Steph C says:

    “You have done these things, and I kept silent; you thought I was just like you. But I will rebuke you and lay out the case before you” (50:21). How often I downplay my sin. I act as if God is just like me. But He is holy, righteous, and perfect. There is no sin in Him. Sin is a serious grief to Him. He has redeemed me to walk before Him in holiness. Not to be free to sin with impunity because my curse has been lifted.

    1. Kristin Lehmann says:

      Amen!!

  21. E Hong says:

    8Let me hear joy and gladness;
    let the bones that you have broken rejoice. -ellie

  22. Ingrid Cey says:

    When the temple was destroyed.

  23. Sharon Ide says:

    The sacrifices God desires are with thanksgiving, a broken spirit, and a broken and contrite heart.

  24. Michelle Chen says:

    After David commits sin, it is insightful to hear his heart focusing on the Lord. Admitting his sin and pleading with the the Lord to restore him. He asks for the Lord to blot out his sin, and he doesn’t wallow in self punishment. Only God can forgive sin.

  25. Brittany Ann Goodrich says:

    8 Let me hear joy and gladness;
    let the bones that you have broken rejoice.
    9 Hide your face from my sins,
    and blot out all my iniquities.
    10 Create in me a clean heart, O God,
    and renew a right spirit within me.
    11 Cast me not away from your presence,
    and take not your Holy Spirit from me.
    12 Restore to me the joy of your salvation,
    and uphold me with a willing spirit.

    Yyyeeesss!

  26. Brittany Ann Goodrich says:

    8 Let me hear joy and gladness;
    let the bones that you have broken rejoice.

    Goose bumps! This line is soooo good!!! Bones are the structure that holds our body up. As he breaks these old bones that mended wrong or we lean on too much let us lean on him!

  27. Brittany Ann Goodrich says:

    19 “You give your mouth free rein for evil,
    and your tongue frames deceit.
    20 You sit and speak against your brother;
    you slander your own mother’s son.
    21 These things you have done, and I have been silent;
    you thought that I was one like yourself.
    But now I rebuke you and lay the charge before you.

    I have been guilty of this in the past. Remaining silent. I pray for courage to stand when people are doing things that defile the name of my God. Every day I feel stronger. Thank you Lord.

  28. Brittany Ann Goodrich says:

    13 Do I eat the flesh of bulls
    or drink the blood of goats?
    14 Offer to God a sacrifice of thanksgiving,
    and perform your vows to the Most High,
    15 and call upon me in the day of trouble;
    I will deliver you, and you shall glorify me.”

  29. Brittany Ann Goodrich says:

    Psalm 49. So true. I mourn for these people. My older sister being one of them. She lives on this glorious farm with glorious things and her husband makes good money and gets to work from home to take care of the kids and where they live is gorgeous!!! There health is great. Everything is great! But they don’t know their savior. Everything is running so smooth.. as much as I hate to admit it sometimes troubles finally being us to the cross. I must admit I’ve prayed their situation would be shaken just enough to be in “need” of a savior. To have a desire to seek one. My heart aches for them.

  30. Melisa says:

    Psalm 51 has been a personal favorite for a few years. It has been my prayer when I know I’ve drifted away from God. A few years back I had lost all sense of joy because of the circumstances around me, at that time I started praying over and over again “Restore to me to joy of your salvation.” This verse was not only my outcry, but it became a reminder to me that my joy is not found on earthly circumstances but on God and on what he has done for me by dying on the cross and offering salvation.

    1. Sarah E. says:

      Well put, Melisa. Love that. This chapter really resonated with me today

    2. Brittany Ann Goodrich says:

      There is a song from Jon foreman that sings this psalm and many others. You should look it up. :) so beautiful. :)

    3. Madison says:

      Totally agree. These words are a beautiful plea that really resonate with me. He’s never far away from us, even when we fall away.

  31. Christina says:

    Mark this, then, you who forget God, lest I tear you apart, and there be none to deliver! 23The one who offers thanksgiving as his sacrifice glorifies me; to one who orders his way rightly I will show the salvation of God!” -I love these verses. we must continue to be thankful for what we have and what we will receive. if we choose not too, God will not deliver us and it will tear you apart. -Do right by God for he loves us even when we are not aware.

  32. Bre says:

    As my NCV says, “The sacrifice God wants is a broken spirit. God, you will not reject a heart that is broken and sorry for sin.” [Ps. 51:17]
    This verse fills me with so much peace & happiness. Our spirits are broken so many times in this life – from suffering, hardships, or (like this verse ends) from feeling sorry for sin. But IT DOESN’T END THERE FRIENDS! This verse plainly states it: God doesn’t leave us in our broken-hearted state. He embraces us and allows us to grow because of it. What a comforting thing to know that God won’t ever leave us in our brokenness.

    1. Lea M says:

      Amen Bre! It was nice to hear the difference between the NCV and the NIV I read :)

  33. Shirley says:

    Just downloaded this app today and I love it. It’s great to read the comments, and to share with others. Praise God

    1. Savannah says:

      Welcome!! Enjoy the new time with the Lord!

  35. Savannah says:

    I got a few days behind but I caught up again! I loved Psalm 51 today.
    10 Create in me a pure heat, O God, and renew a steadfast sprit within me.
    17 My sacrifice, O God, is a broken sprit; a broken and contrite heart you, God, will not despise.
    Let my heart break for you God! Broken and contrite my heart is before you, cleanse me, create in me a pure heart to do your works!

    1. Heidi Wray says:

      My favorite. I think we have a hymn in church that uses verse 10!! I love psalm 51, it’s one of my favorites

  36. Melanie says:

    We bring nothing into our graves…such a humbling thought. I am so blessed and I need to give it away and bless others in His holy name. Lord place this on my heart! Praying that we all pay it forward to honor His kingdom.

  37. Priscilla says:

    I too feel like a” chicken ” at times. I’m praying that God will present opportunities in my pathway that I cannot go around. As always, praying for knowledge and the wisdom to know what to do with it. Make my ear open to the still small voice that may be speaking today!! Send the Holy Spirit to minister .

  38. Antimony says:

    51:16-17 “For You do not delight in sacrifice … You are not pleased with burnt offering(s). The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit … and a contrite heart”. Even in the OT the psalmist realized that God was more concerned with inward humility and repentance than with outward conformity.

    1. Amy says:

      Love this. We look at the outward appearance but God looks at the heart.

      1. Denise says:

        So true Amy.

  39. Antimony says:

    50:15 “Call upon Me in the day of trouble; I shall rescue you, and you will honor Me.” This God says to His chosen ones. His righteous ones. He tells them to call so that He will rescue them. Reminding them that they need Him. They have to ask. But when they humble themselves, He will act. He will deliver. And they will worship

  40. Anna says:

    Morning SRT community. I’m in the Dominican Republic with a team and we’re going into communities to provide water filters and clean water access. We get to share the gospel one on one with them (life changing). But I ask you to pray that the roots of legalism that are here will be broken and people can understand that they can come just as they are into this amazing all surpassing grace. Thanks community!

  43. Shirl says:

    5 Why should I fear when evil days come,
    when wicked deceivers surround me—
    6 those who trust in their wealth
    and boast of their great riches?

    16 Do not be overawed when others grow rich,
    when the splendor of their houses increases;
    Learning to be more generous with my resources. God has blessed me so abundantly please help me to show that blessing to others.

        Sending prayers your way, Amber. Leah, I am in the same boat. Praying and keeping my eyes, ears, mind, and heart open so that I too can find a church where I am meant to be.

      6. Mary says:

        Praying for each of you. I’m in the same boat and long for that place of fellowship and acceptance.

      7. Miranda O says:

        Amber, I totally get how you feel. I have a hard time putting myself out there too. But God is faithful. He will open up doors and opportunities for you. Just be willing to take little leaps of faith. Remember that you don’t have to do everything at once either. Praying for wisdom and growing faith for you!

  46. misce says:

    But giving thanks is a sacrifice that truly honors Me. If you keep to my path, I will reveal to you the salvation of God. – Psalm 50:23
