  1. Kimberly Humphrey says:

The Lord does prevail. Even when afflictions happen for a long time or over and over again. It’s good news for me when I feel like rough things have been happening for a long time. It gives hope to the situation. I know it was hard for the Israelites to trust, but they did see God show up and show up again and again. This is true in my life as well

  2. Karen Wilson says:

God is always with me in the good and “bad” times. He doesn’t leave when it gets hard.

  3. cortney pellegrin says:

god is nothing but good but it is up to us to follow the righteous path rather than devilish actions

  4. Linda Fenwick says:

God let’s us sin for a long while. He puts up with it all waiting on people to decide on their own to stop, to come to Him in repentance, but eventually He WILL punish sinners and those who refused Him

  5. Joslynn G. says:

Moving with confidence in the Lord Shields you from
Chaos brought on by others. God lets the hits you took, turn
into power in the most Godly way.
“He sets the table in the presence (view)of my
    enemies. “

  7. Seana Isaac says:

Needed to hear the Lord has cut the cords of every evil thing, because he does not want me to have evil in my life, but peace. Especially in this season I am going through of beating brain cancer. I can’t afford evil. I can’t afford putting energy into evil things or evil people. I trust the Lord to take those people and things out of my life so that I can live at peace. Thank you God♥️

  8. Michelle Johnson says:

I am so thankful that Gos is in control of revenge! I don’t have to do anything or fight back or even worry about it because He is the ultimate source of love and justice. When people wrong me and hurt me terribly, the Lord has a plan. He grieves with me of the pain and will return it to those who hurt me (and us!).

    1. Joslynn G. says:

      Love this!

  9. Taylor G says:

This question about going in confidence in the Lord couldn’t have come at a better time for me. I’ve been struggling with what I DONT want to do in my family’s upcoming move (my husband is in the military and we’re PCSing soon). But I was reminded today with this question that it’s not about what I want sometimes. When I took a step back and looked at the roadblocks I’ve been bumping into, I realize now that it’s because I haven’t been putting my full confidence in God. I’m so worried about making sure I have all the ducks in a row and that I can provide for our family and make sure that we’re getting where I think we need to be. My confidence was in my abilities and it has been abundantly clear based on the amount of difficulties I’ve been facing that that’s not where my confidence should be. I should be putting in the Lord that He will provide for my family, make sure we’re in the right place and home when we move, and that everything goes as smoothly as possible. I am reminded today that I must trust in Him because I am unable to do get through life on my own. I must rely on Him. It’s a bit of a wake up call but one I certainly needed. I hope you all have a wonderful weekend!! ❤️❤️

    1. Mercy says:

      Praying for you dear girl.

Thought of you, MARI V. when I heard “My Jesus” this am by Todd Agnew. ❤️

  11. Gwineth52 says:

    Hello Shes
    My responses:
    How God deals with evil:
It’s His big & bold, proposition & promise.
And I must step away from my single minded, solitary struggle.
How it changes the way I live:
It’s my choice & challenge to let go of control. To let Him “vanquish” my perceived threats & problems.
And I can only do this with His help.
    Amen & Amen

  12. Kimberly Z says:

Happy Friday ladies! I believe trusting in God is such a weight lifted off our shoulders. Knowing everything will be exactly how God planned it is so refreshing.

  13. Mercy says:

“Greatly have they afflicted me from my youth, yet they have not prevailed against me.” When I saw this verse today, the Holy Spirit did remind me of someone. In my moments of wrestling with injustice and wickedness of the world, society, even in family betrayal, in church hurts, and other aspects, God has graciously reminded me about the story of Joseph. It reveals that how the wheel of justice might slowly turn, much slower than we’d like it to, but it definitely will turn, by the Hand of God. God’s wisdom and God’s timing does not correlate with human weaknesses, or the lack of understanding, and the incapability of suffering long. His timing is His timing. As for Joseph, as for Job, as for our Lord Jesus, and as for us also. May the Lord take care of our enemies, and may we guard our heart, may we learn to still ourselves and wait well. Be blessed dear sisters.

  14. Caroline Bridges says:

I don’t understand how they explain it, but I do know it’s about war. Legend has it that they are still in war today.

  15. Rebekah Mann says:

My first thought, “These things I have spoken unto you, that ine ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world” John 16:33 I feel that “but” should be all caps because that is the pith of everything for us as Christ followers. “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me” Phil. 4:13. My hope , my love, my faith, my life is in nothing but in Christ “For to me to live is Christ…” Phil. 1:21 it changes everything for me because I am not going and serving for me, what I can do, but I am out there serving and living for Christ and what HE can do. He will eventually right all the wrongs and till then I wait in confidence and I work HIS work and do the next right thing. “Cast not away therefore your confidence, which hath great recompense of reward. For ye have need of patience , that after ye have done the will of God, ye might receive the promise” Heb. 10:35-36
Thank you Lord for your encouragement this morning, for reminding me of your word, your strength, your hope, and your power. Thank you for being my light, my strong arm, for keeping me from wobbling, and giving me answers and not leaving me hanging. I love you.
    In Jesus Christ’s name Amen!

  16. Adrianne says:

How does this psalm describe how God deals with evil in the world?
Our Lord will cut them down, He will cause them to wither, and He will cause them to driven back in disgrace.

How does going in confidence in the Lord change how you live?
It puts my mind at ease. Knowing that our Lord is here for us through the good and the bad makes me feel secure and loved.

    1. Taylor G says:

Couldn’t agree more with your statements, Adrianne ❤️

  17. Cheryl Blow says:

God deals with evil. It may not be in a way we can see it at this time but God is righteous. I love “ yet they have not prevailed against me.” We may be attacked but evil will not prevail.

If we go with confidence in the Lord, we what happens to us with a different perspective. We know the One who has already won the battle. Nothing can separate us from God! Our choice is to persevere and keep our focus on Him!

    1. Rebekah Mann says:

Amen, Yes keep our focus on Him! I love the verse that says to “fix our eyes on Jesus”!!!

  18. Mari V says:

Revenge or “getting-back” at someone or something is never a good idea or OK. As hard as it is for us, (especially when we can actually “see-it”) one thing I remind myself it best to leave it in the hands of our Lord. HE will take care of it MUCH better then us. Romans 12:19 “It is mine to avenge; I will repay,” says the Lord. Happy FRIDAY sweet She’s! SO thankful for FRIDAY as the summer school teacher, the other para and I have been EXHAUSTED every day with these incoming kinders. YEP their are some challenging ones. LOTS of work ahead in the fall. BUT I still love it!!! Please pray as I’m off for a week, and hoping I will get called in to work for a least 2-3 days.

  19. Donna Wolcott says:

Good morning all, for those who do not get the study books, today was an extra titled “A Song for the Journey”. This will be a little long but I think many of you who have the gift “of words” would enjoy doing this. Fill in your song journey by following the prompts.
    Psalm 123
“I lift my eyes to you the one enthroned in heaven.”
Prompt – Where are you inclined to look for help?
“Like a servant’s eyes on his master’s hand, like a servant girl’s eyes on her mistress’s hand,”
Prompt -How do you stay connected and dependent on God?
“so our eyes are on the Lord our God until he shows us favor.”
Prompt – Where do you direct your eyes as you walk through life?
“Show us favor, Lord, show us favor,”
Prompt – What is your request?
“for we’ve had more than enough contempt.”
Prompt – What have you had enough of?
“We’ve had more than enough scorn from the arrogant and contempt from the proud.”
Prompt – What else do you need freedom from?

    1. Caroline Bridges says:

At this point I would get a digital study book if you want to see it

    2. Victoria E says:

Thank you for sharing Donna !

    3. Cee Gee says:

      Thanks so much, Donna! ❤

    4. Gwineth52 says:

      Dear Donna
“Fill in your song journey …”
      Great prompts; Good to ponder.
Thanks for offering these to those – like me -without a physical study book. Among them:
      “What is my request?”
To enter this weekend of birthday, wedding, Father’s Day celebrations with a “lightness of being”. Not the “tyranny of doing” to perfection. By His Grace.
      Thanks be to God!

    5. Victoria E says:

Donna thank you for sharing! I just went through this now it was so freeing!

  20. Kris says:

I’m guessing we all can see where the enemy has tried to defeat us our entire lives. None of us have escaped the efforts of the enemy to keep us from believing in God. But I love how verse 2 says that the enemy HAS NOT PREVAILED AGAINST ME. He can’t win, unless we let him. Greater is He who is in me, than he who is in the world. God is always victorious when we follow Him and obey His commands. We never have to be defeated. God is faithful and righteous to cut off the wicked from our lives – but we have to be persistent in following His ways, and not defeat ourselves. God is faithful, and we must be too! The confidence we can have is that HE IS FAITHFUL. He is faithful to Himself, to His covenants, to His Word.

    1. Rebekah Mann says:

I love that you pointed out the He is faithful and we need to be too! Oh yes, we can’t give up -He hasn’t given up – so neither should we!

    2. Taylor G says:

      Love your comment, Kris! ❤️

  21. Sharon, Jersey Girl says:

“They have greatly oppressed me from my youth, BUT they have not gained the victory over me.” Psalm 129:2

I love it when something that seems bad in scripture is often followed by a “but God” or “but the Lord”. And I love how Tina always brings the “But” into her comments!

This verse reminded of 2 Corinthians 4:8-10 where Paul states his “buts” – “we are hard pressed BUT not crushed, perplexed But not in despair, persecuted But not abandoned, struck down But not destroyed.”

Trials will come & go – we will always have them BUT God gives us the strength and power to overcome and He doesn’t let them destroy us. They only strengthen our faith and our walk with Him.

God takes care of those who do evil – in His time and in His way -they do not gain the victory – we do, through Jesus Christ!

I don’t have time this morning to read the comments but will stop back later in the day.

    Have a wonderful Friday sisters!

    1. Rebekah Mann says:

Thank you for sharing! I don’t dig deep into the comments usually (a few scrolls down) so I haven’t read about the “BUTs” before and it was so encouraging – thank you ❤️

  22. Adrienne says:

Even as we look around and see (what seems to be) the enemy’s victories… we know that He wins the ultimate battle. God is not watching it all unfold and standing in heaven scratching His head over the nonsense. He knows. He sees. He’s got this. And He’s got us too, sweet sisters.

Have a blessed and beautiful day, my friends!

    1. LEF says:

I agree Adrienne. He’s not ignoring the nonsense even when I wonder how much crazier it can get! We live very much counter culturally when we follow Jesus.

    2. Gwineth52 says:

      Hey Adrienne
      LOVELovelove the imagery!
Our God laughs as He lavishes us with Grace.
      Amen & Amen

  23. Donna Mitchell says:

Our hope is in the Lord. The Lord continues to rescue his people from the evil and wickedness of this world, country, states, government and any situation a wicked person has done to the Lord children. So no matter what is going on in your life, know you have a mighty God, who sits high and looks low. He has heard your cry and will deliver you. In Jesus Name.

  24. Danielle B says:

How does going in confidence in the Lord change how you live? It means when the storm is tossing the boat I’m sleeping in the stern with Jesus (Mark 4). It means like Peter’s initial steps on the water. I have learned in this current season of life to trust God. As the psalmist says I may have plow marks BUT GOD has not let them prevail against me.

    1. Adrienne says:

      Amen! ❤️

    2. Donna Wolcott says:

      Amen

    3. Catherine McVey says:

      So good!!

    4. Cee Gee says:

      Perfectly stated, DANIELLE! ❤

  25. Jody Striker says:

In comparison to God’s strength and ability, wickedness and wicked plans are like grass. They are easily cut down before they reach maturity. Even cords of wickedness, which suggest a level of unity and strength, are severed before our God. Father, we ask for every wicked plan in our lives and in the world to be cut down today. Provide peace and joy as we walk with you in safety. ❤️

    1. Cee Gee says:

      Amen! ❤

  26. Laura Dianne says:

When reading this psalm, I immediately thought of the current situation in Israel. We follow the news very closely in our house and we are just sick with sorrow over what the people are living through. What a beautiful promise in this psalm: Let all who hate Zion be driven back in disgrace. Yes, Lord, may it be so soon. The wickedness of this world can be overwhelming at times. Especially if you listen to the news and pay attention to what is happening in the world. But God WILL prevail – hallelujah!

I did not go back to read comments from yesterday until today. Haven’t figured out a rhythm yet for that. But I am prayerful for my dear sisters throughout my day. I have been noticing little sparks of encouragement lately from the Lord. At first I thought it was just coincidence, but now I am leaning into it and thanking the Lord for these little sparks that remind me that He is always working. I will share two of them. There is a day every month that I really focus on praying HARD for my prodigal daughter. The 20th of the month. I was driving to the gym and feeling especially sad about her situation and was praying for her heart to be turned and as I turned onto the road, I saw her drive by. It was weird, because I often look for her there when I go to the gym. Kind of randomly, though, because even though I think it is close to her work, I never really knew if it was or if she even goes that way, but I always look, I always think of her at that spot, and then when I glimpsed her in her car driving to work (I assume), I don’t know, it comforted me somehow. Like God was saying, I am still here with her. I am still watching over her. I have not left her. The second thing was recent. I never dream, but for some reason, in the middle of the night, I thought I heard my son’s voice, praying in his room, but it was his little boy voice, praying in such a sweet little boy way. I woke up at that moment and again thought, God is with him. He is reminding him of the faith of his youth. Both of these were comforts for me.

Sending love to my dear sisters on here. Your comments and wisdom really encourage me every day. I feel like I could reply to everyone on here!

    4. Sharon, Jersey Girl says:

Continuing to pray for your daughter and your son Laura. ❤️
I often pray that God will speak to my two prodigal sons in their dreams!

I was drawn to this commentary from Wiersbe, but wasn’t sure about posting it since it didn’t fit with the questions/focus – and then I read TINA’S comment and suddenly it fit perfectly! Thanks again, TINA!

    129:3-4
“The plowing image is a good one for believers today, for it reminds us that there can be a glorious harvest, but it depends on the seeds that we plant. Of itself, suffering does not produce blessing. If we plant seeds of hatred and resentment, then suffering will produce bitterness. But if we plant faith, hope, love, and the precious promises of the Word, then the harvest will bless us and help others, and it will bring glory to God (see 1 Pet. 4:12–19). If God permits people to treat us like dirt, we must accept it, but we have the privilege of being transformed, by the grace of God, into a person whose character honors the Lord.”

    What a privilege we have!

And this stood out to me (also from Wiersbe):
“Israel has suffered more than any nation in history, yet Israel has not been destroyed! The church of Jesus Christ has experienced persecution, but it still stands and will stand until Jesus returns (Matt. 16:18). Every true believer can identify with Paul’s testimony in 2 Corinthians 4:7–12. When it comes to suffering for the sake of the Lord, we must first of all accept it.”

2 Corinthians 4:7 – We now have this light shining in our hearts, but we ourselves are like fragile clay jars containing this great treasure. This makes it clear that our great power is from God, not from ourselves.

There in, SHES, lies our confidence. Once again, SEARCHING and KELLY NEO expressed my ‘deep thoughts’ better than I could. Thanks, sisters! ❤

Looking forward to reading more great comments and insights from you wise and wonderful sisters later tonight! ❤

Walk in confidence today! We walk by FAITH, not by sight. (or what we feel)

God will put the wicked to shame, cut their cords

  31. Lanie Hefferly says:

Looking at the big picture of Scripture and then even up to present history, it is so comforting to see the narrative has always been the same, Gods people have been oppressed and yet never eliminated. I love having the physical/historical reminder of a land and people group that although they were not faithful, still aren’t, God remains faithful. Thus even though I haven’t always been faithful, God always has. We have this blessed assurance of salvation and God’s steadfast love through grace perfectly pictured through this ethnic group. It gives me confidence because when I can see the big “c” church not as a replacement of Israel but as a branch from the same root that has been oppressed since our youth I have all the evidence in the world that we will prevail.

    1. Rhonda J. says:

      Yes! Amen!

  32. Aimee D-R says:

If I walk in faith I don’t falter at the temporary attacks knowing Gods plan for me as His daughter always prevails. Easier to say than for this human to always lean into, but it is always my prayer to walk in His way and under His protection.

  33. Nedsely Vila says:

How does going in confidence in the lord change how you live? I think that’s is something that I struggle in the day to day, I believe in God, in Jesus that save me. But it is hard to not be anxious and trust in his plan, my controlling nature get the best of me every time. I’m learning to trust, I’m learning to see that his plan is perfect.
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths”. Proverbs 3:5-6

    1. Laurel W says:

Proverbs 3: 5-6 is one of my go-to verses. It always gives me strength and focus when presented with an anxiety producing situation.

  34. Katy Silva says:

I love where it says “yet they have not prevailed me.” God allows us to go through seasons of life that are hard yet they will not prevail against us. He is for us. What a sweet reminder that the battle is already won. Happy Friday!

  35. Maria Baer says:

If there was a Psalm that describes today’s situation in Israel, it would be this one. I feel we are seeing this in real-time. But ultimately, Scripture’s story is not about how it applies to someone or a country, but about God’s power and how we can always count on Him to be our guardian. He provides a place for us to come to Him and He meets us where we are.

  36. Alissandra Olvera says:

The Lord redeems the oppressed and deals with the wicked in due time. Going in confidence in the Lord changes how I live life in every way. Knowing that God is in control is a huge weight lifted off. Knowing that God has good plans for me and if I pursue him all the days of my life and keep my eyes on him then everything else will fall into place.

  37. Searching says:

This psalm is a reminder that the Lord will vanquish evil, in His time.
As far as confidence… knowing He will deal with all the evil and injustice surrounding us today gives me the push I need to stay strong in my faith, day by day.
I look around and wonder how He can tarry another day.

Thank you for pointing that out. You are correct. I started walking with the Lord right after my mom passed at age 62. She was the 2nd to pass. It was her passing that catapulted me into my faith. God always has a plan even if we don’t see it!

  38. Kelly (NEO) says:

How does this psalm describe how God deals with evil in the world?
    .
God fulfills His promises to be with those who call upon His name and remain true to the covenant. Eventually all evil will be delt with and remembered no more. Right now however, we do not see much “rope cutting” by Him, at least in the physical. So many in the church are currently attacked or enslaved or incarcerated. Lord be their Deliverer and Protector. May their enemies repent and come to know and serve You.
    .
How does going in confidence in the Lord change how you live?
    .
Nothing in this life, good or bad, is forever. I want to live with open hands, ready to freely release and freely receive.

  39. Tina says:

Tina, tell us how your enemies/troubles have caused you pain ever since you were young..

From a young age troubles and strife have followed me. I have known abandonment, loneliness, hopelessness.

I have been called names because of the colour of my skin, they have hurt, they do, when you are young and don’t understand why.

I have known rejection, on many levels, in love, at work, in life, that have left their mark.

I have known deep deep sorrow, one thst has for sure, left a tsunami size scar on my heart,(not quite the tracks of a plowed field),

I have been my own worst enemy!

    BUT GOD..

Oh BUT GOD, He promises never to leave me nor forsake me.. as I know and understand it now, He never has. He has always, always been there.
He has taken away the feeling of being hated, disliked or not belonging, He has called me His own.. His own! What kindness, what grace, what love!
He is working in me as I give those deep rejections to Him and I am reminded that God, himself, has chosen me.(John:15:16) If God is for me, who can be against me! (Romans8:31)
He has brought the broken heart of this mother, who felt nowhere else to go but to join her child, Hope. Hope, knowing that her child is safe for one, and two, that by His grace, mercy, love and comforting, He is restoring, rewriting, resetting.. not to forget, but to remind me of what He can and has done, and continues to do.. I can see, absolutely, what the Lord has done, to the broken heart that was, patched up in a beautiful way, to be able to move forward, to share His love.. to tell the story of Jesus and His love.. for me and all..
