  1. Kimberly Humphrey says:

Fearing the Lord doesn’t necessarily mean being terrified. It’s having a correct view of who God is and that should lead to obeying him. Because it’s God’s kindness that leads us to repentance all the things about him. Here is this psalm it talks about reaping what they sow. I don’t know if that always is how it goes. Positive in positive out….i know it is in eternity but earth doesn’t always works that way in a broken world

  2. Karen Wilson says:

I need to remember to acknowledge God and his protection of me in all I do.

  3. Linda Fenwick says:

I need to spend a lot more time reading and memorizing scripture. That’s one area I haven’t practiced in a long time.

  4. Lynn Hawk says:

I’ve fallen short in my vision of fearing (being in awe, being ready to obey, respect & reverence) on a daily basis. I pray Im able to start being in awe & recognizing Gods blessings daily.

  5. Katie Goodson says:

Our walking in obedience brings God’s blessings

  6. Louise R says:

What about those who fear the Lord and do not seem to have prosperity? What of those who have followed God but die young and don’t ‘live to enjoy their grandchildren’? This is obviously not a psalm of lament, and I need to look at it from an eternal perspective, not my currrent situation. Obeying God is to trust him…trust means security, and maybe that is the blessing.

  7. Michelle Johnson says:

Sometimes I get scared and concerned about not obeying God because I only have one child. A lot of times I feel pressured to have more children because “that’s what the Bible says to do”, but what if I don’t feel called to do that? I try to obey God the best I can, but there is so much pressure and I feel like I never do it well. I know no one is perfect, and I try to lean on God’s love more than my feelings in this.

    1. Libby K says:

Oh Michelle. I wish I could meet you in real life and give you a hug. So much pressure on yourself and I understand. Obedience is a life-long learning process. Have grace for yourself. And as for the child situation, you do whatever the spirit leads you to do.

  8. Victoria E says:

Tina, Adrienne, Mercy, CeeGee, Memefaye, and others who have been praying thank you! I have been feeling better the last 2 days, still very fatigued but the pain is much less. Still waiting for my CT results. Thank you to everyone for your continued prayers! Praying for requests here

    1. Kelly (NEO) says:

So happy to hear you are feeling better

    2. Cee Gee says:

Great to hear and continued prayers for you and the results! ❤

    3. Tina says:

Victoria E, i will continue to pray for total healing and removal of whatever is ailing you..
God is good, and faithful. He has got this..
Much love to you and yours..♥️

  9. Cee Gee says:

LAURA DIANE – I replied to you under my comment, but it doesn’t show as a reply to you. ❤

  10. Adrianne says:

What questions come to mind when you read about fearing the Lord?
I don’t have any questions that pop up. We should fear the Lord.

Where in your life do you need to be reminded of the goodness of obeying God?
That life has consequences. We should be grateful for His saving grace that protects us not only in life but in death. By obeying Him we show our gratitude and love for our Savior who made the ultimate sacrifice for us.

  11. Taylor G says:

Before I knew the meaning of “fearing the Lord” I always thought it actually meant to be afraid of God. I would wonder, “Why am I supposed to be afraid of God? Isn’t He supposed to be good and loving?” But now I know that fearing God means to fully obey Him. When we fully obey God, we are shown His goodness and mercy. Sometimes, I forget about the goodness obeying God and following His commands brings in certain aspects of my life. Specifically, I struggle with remembering to be patient and wait on God. I try to rush things and do things on MY time when I really should be a patient obedient child and wait on God’s time. When I stop trying to do things on my time, and wait on God, I am blessed beyond anything my hands could do. Sometimes I need to be reminded of that. I hope you all are having a marvelous week! ❤️

    1. J M says:

Taylor, this resonates with me so much! I use to think fearing the Lord meant I should be afraid of God too. Afraid that if I did something wrong then bad things would happen to me! The older I’ve gotten and the closer I get to God, I realize it’s more about obeying and trusting in God. I also have a problem with impatience. I try to take matters into my own hands, and it never seems to work out how I want. I am trying to do better about praying and leaving it up to God!

  12. Melissa Richards says:

    Amen

  13. Gwineth52 says:

    Hello Shes
    MY QUESTIONS:
    FEAR:
What does the word “fear” mean here? Certainly not modern human connotations of “terror” or “horror”. Instead “reverence” & “devotion”. Approaching God in “awe & “respect” for His mightiness.
    OBEDIENCE:
Safety & structure & assurance rest in adhering to “the law”. Not “legalistic”. Active & respectful engagement. Abiding in obedience means listening to His will & following His urging. Placing my needs of the moment farther behind.
    MY TAKEAWAY:
A sense of release & peace surface when not “tied up in my own knots” over right & wrong. Keeping my eyes trained on Him.

  14. La'Lisa Pugh says:

  15. Mercy says:

Fearing the Lord is to shun evil (Proverbs 3:7). Fearing the Lord is the beginning of wisdom (Proverbs 9:10). Fearing the Lord is to depart from evil (Proverbs 16:6). Behold, the fear of the Lord, that is wisdom; And to turn away from evil is understanding (Job 28:28). There is an understanding that only the fear of the Lord can give and guide. Lean not on our own understanding, or our finicky emotions. Emotions get in the way of obedience, oftentimes as a major hindrance. Fear is such a big emotion, and a downfall. Obeying God can lead to the next hardest thing, because God calls us to walk out of the boat, go onto the water when the storm is about to rage, He calls us to do the most unfathomable of things. God is found in storms. But our ability and willingness to obey, the capacity to go through it against our own will, I find even that, every substance of it is all Him in us. He trains us in little, and when we are trusted in little, we will be trusted with much. The goodness of God on hindsight is always sweet. But during, it could be hard to swallow. Our thought process toward obedience is always a fierce battle of self-will against God’s will. I pray for sweet surrendering, effortless surrendering, upon us, when we have endured the weariness of resistance against God’s will, that will only lead to regrets, loss of years, woulda coulda shoulda. But God, who is all-knowing, rich in mercy, all-sufficient grace, whose love and faithfulness endures forever, He is our compass. May the fear of the Lord silence us in moments of rebellion and our self-will. Be blessed dear sisters.

  16. Erica Chiarelli says:

I’m not sure of questions, I pray that my life is lived fearing the Lord, standing in awe of Him, His goodness and His faithfulness. I pray that I would walk in obedience and trust and faith. He is who He says He is, He will do what He says He will do!!!

  17. Lara Castillo says:

Maria Baer & Sharon Jersey Girl, both your comments were so good! Fear of the Lord to me was that feeling of just being so overwhelmed by Him. But I love adding to my knowledge & feelings through the comments here. I know I need to constantly be reminded of obeying because I wander nearly every minute.

  18. Adrienne says:

Obedience is so tough but, oh, so necessary. I’ve made the comment before about how preschoolers need the boundaries that encourage obedience. And they really do like those boundaries. Lord, may me and my sweet sisters be like little children and crave those boundaries that shape us into obedient daughters of the King (and then listen to or recognize them!)

Thank you for the prayers for my doctor appointment yesterday. My blood pressure was really high (and normally isn’t… I think I feared being labeled a hypochondriac, as my symptoms were hard to explain… I’d not a hypochondriac, by the way!) I have an MRI scheduled for 6/25 and hope it provides some answers?

  19. Laura Dianne says:

First of all, let me say how much I am loving this new comment section. Thank you, SRT, for creating this space. I realized this morning when I went back to read yesterday’s comments that I need to change my practice and start re-reading the comments later on the same day. So many good comments come in throughout the day and I want to reply to them but think the person may not see it since it is from the day before…sigh…a good problem to have!

As far as this psalm, hmmmm, I am going to have to sit in this for awhile. Verse 1, How happy is everyone who fears the Lord, who walks in His ways.” That’s a tough one for me to understand. I feel like I have tried to live my life in obedience to God. My husband and I were together in that desire. Am I happy? What is God’s definition of happy? This is where yesterday’s point about focusing on what I DO have and not what I DO NOT have is important for me, a human and a sinner. Yes, I am happy, because I know and love God. Yes, I am happy, because when storms come my way, I can cling to Him and He will carry me through. Yes, I am happy, because I am saved and will live with my Heavenly Father for all eternity. Is my “happiness” and my awe and reverence for the Lord related? I think so. Even though everything in my life is not perfect, if I “fear” the Lord, I trust Him, I am in awe of Him. I just read this morning, Lysa TerKeurst’s devotional called “I have trust issues” where she writes about fear and trust going hand in hand. So true. I think I am rambling as well…but I want to sit in this thought some more. And I want to evaluate my own definition of happiness and compare it to God’s. Because I think I need to understand “happiness” the God-way. Otherwise, this verse doesn’t ring true for me. And I know that God’s Word is true. So I will sit…

    1. Adrienne says:

I read in the morning and again in the evening (later the same day) for the reason you mentioned. ❤️

    2. Adrienne says:

And I shoulda mentioned… I read comments in the morning via the app and also the website. I comment on the website… I like being able to respond directly to a comment. They are somewhat different, yet there are some repeats, obviously. (Do app comments go on the website or vice versa?) In the evening, I just go to the website to read and sometimes respond. And I also catch west coast, USA comments that show up after I have done my morning study.

I am procrastinating a big project. Can you tell? Heeheehee!

  20. Mari V says:

My parents, especially my mom had to ask for forgiveness to my siblings and I once we and they all became believers. We were raised Catholic (Hispanic culture) and I can remember as a child my mom saying to us that if we didn’t obey, God would punish us. Thankfully after our household became born-again within the renewal of the Catholic Church, that all changed. I guess this really doesn’t answer the question, but felt to share this! Present time: Three of us children are no longer Catholic, but my mom still is and involved in her prayer group. So out of the 6 of us three of us are part of an non-denomination churches and unfortunately the other three are no longer serving the Lord. We pray for them and now that my own children are serving the Lord, our hope is they will come back into relationship with Jesus! I KNOW this is my mother’s prayer.

    1. Rhonda J. says:

Thanks for sharing always Mari! Love and hugs!

  21. Memefaye says:

Just want to mention a few more songs that came to mind as i read the scripture and the comments… Big God by Terrain and That’s My King by CeCe Winans… She recently sang this on The Kelly Clarkson Show…
talk about the world hearing the Word!!!
    Praise God!

    1. Adrienne says:

I love. Love. LOVE “That’s My King”! It is one of my current favorites. Always makes me dance! (I just wiggle when I’m in the car!)

      1. Rhonda J. says:

I love that song too!! I think the world has a hard time putting Jesus as our king…seems like you can say God and people are accepting..but throw in Jesus is Lord and King…and people shurk.. !(is that a word??)

I love that we can reply..but not that it kicks me out and have to keep going back to replies and finding my place! :)

    2. Gwineth52 says:

      Goodness Gracious Girl!
Just listening to CeCe Winans belt that song out on Spotify!
      “Who we talking about?”
      Yes Lord!

    3. AZ Walker says:

Just watched the Utube of Cece on the Kelly Clarkson show! Thank you for sharing!!

      1. Gwineth52 says:

Now AZW…You made me go watch that video on YouTube. WOW!!!

  22. Cee Gee says:

Some of your comments made me think of those first remote controlled cars. You couldn’t steer them. You had to be sure they were pointed in the direction you wanted them to go BEFORE you pressed the control button. An odd thought, I know! Lol

Interestingly, the commentaries I read on Biblegateway referred to the role of the man in the home. Lots of great stuff there, but too much to share here. I will share this from Wiersbe:

“From bride and groom to grandparents in just six verses! How time flies! Three generations are represented in the psalm, and all of them walking with the Lord. We are so prone to remember that God judges the succeeding generations if they imitate the sins of their ancestors, but we must remember that He also passes along the blessings when the ancestors have been godly (Ex. 34:6, 7; Num. 14:18, 19; Deut. 5:9, 10). It is often the third generation that abandons the faith (Judg. 2), so we must pray much for our children and grandchildren, that the Lord will keep His good hand of blessing on their lives for His glory.”

Okay, just sharing this snippet from Vines Expository Bible:

“The Beneficiaries of a Good Father (128:3, 4)

When a man knows the Lord and is walking in His ways, others become his beneficiaries. The one who benefits the most is the man’s wife (128:3), who in the psalmist’s mind was like a vine. A fruitful vine will cling to a frame or other object. This is a reminder of a wife’s need for security. That’s why God intends for a man to be in the family. Again, we acknowledge that, due to death or divorce, many homes have single mothers. This is not to discredit the wonderful jobs they are doing on their own. But single moms would agree that a family benefits when it has a godly father.

Vines also climb. They grow and mature. This pictures the wife benefitting when someone provides partnership so she can become everything that God intends (see Eph. 5:25–29). A wise husband will discover his wife’s strengths and encourage her in them.”

    1) I don’t question fearing the LORD. God is God and He is worthy of my reverence, awe, and worship. My issue is in not being as faithful in that as I should be.
    2) I need to be reminded of the goodness of obeying God when I get frustrated over things in my marriage. The fact that the Bible tells us over and over that the man is the spiritual head makes it even harder to stay in obedience when that man is not fulfilling that role. Now I am rambling, but hopefully you can decipher this!

Gotta run so I will try to share a song later. Oh, I just thought of a hymn I love to sing! HOLY, HOLY HOLY.

    1. Laura Dianne says:

I was just thinking about this issue as well. My husband and I were young when we married. He started out as the spiritual leader of our home, and I think we made a good team. But life and ministry and family started to become a distraction and his fall from grace while running a ministry has derailed him a bit. He no longer serves as the spiritual leader of our family and we are struggling. I don’t know really how to handle that other than to keep praying and do my best to be encouraging and respectful of him (something I struggle to do!)

      1. Rhonda J. says:

You know I hear you! I pray for restoration in your marriage in your home! It has to be discouraging because like you said..you both honored the Lord and served. And then it was your husband that disobeyed..not you, purse in a blatant obvious way…and you are being punished, which seems so unfair. Although my husband did not betray my trust I feel like he is not the spiritual leader, and certainly “acts out” in a child like moodiness that I feel like I don’t deserve. sigh. But God..He is calling us to obedience to him..and our husbands to support them in their crazy, lol and to be pillars of strength (through HIM!), and of sound mind. Lord is it hard! Lord see us through, to honor YOU, and develop character that reflects you, in the hard, in the disappointment, through the trials…the thorns in our side. We live for you during it all. Thank you Lord, In your name we pray. Amen

        1. Margaret W says:

I don’t think God calls us to support our husbands when they are crazy or not following Jesus. If they are not loving us as Christ loved the Church, then we should be calling out their sin and calling them back to Hod. That is love and that is honoring our vows.

      2. Cee Gee says:

      3. Cee Gee says:

❤ Prayers for you and your husband, Laura Diane, to rekindle the ‘serving together’ routine.

    2. Adrienne says:

      Good background! ❤️

      1. Cee Gee says:

❤ So much more that I didn’t share!

    3. Rhonda J. says:

      Good, thanks Cee Gee!

      1. Cee Gee says:

    4. Kim says:

Focus on the Family just put out some episodes about positively influencing our husbands. It hits on when our husbands are not being the Godly men we would like them to be. It is SO good and it came at the right time for me because I have been struggling with my husband’s weaknesses off and on for awhile now!

      1. Rhonda J. says:

Oh good, thanks Kim! I listen to them on the radio daily, but I will go to their website directly!

We here in SWF are getting slammed with rain and storms..so I am stuck inside all day, perfect day for podcasts!

      2. Cee Gee says:

Thanks, Kim; I am going to look for that. ❤

  23. Kris says:

So many promises in today’s reading!! Happiness! Fruitful wife (not just meaning having kids, but wisdom and management skills), Kids around the table (meaning togetherness), Blessings, prosperity, living old enough to see grandkids. WOW! I have NEVER regretting following God, but I sure have regretted NOT following God. There are many things I wish I could do over, but I also know that God is a Restorer, a Redeemer, a Forgiver, a Savior. I can just go forward in the light and expect all these good things from Him.

    1. GramsieSue says:

      Oh Kris! You nailed it!
I have never regretted following God, but I have regretted not following God.
      Amen

    2. Rhonda J. says:

      Yes..nailed it! Amen and Amen!

  24. Cheryl Blow says:

I just want to make sure that I have the reverential awe (fear) of God. That since I’ve been a believer for 60 years, saved when I was 8, I don’t take my relationship with God for granted. It is so important for me to constantly check my heart to make sure it is where He wants it to be!

I have to stop and count my blessings. Sometimes the blessings could be that I’m still driving my 10 year old car with 171,000 miles! My roof has honestly through numerous storms but when checked there is no damage. I have clothes in v my closet that I have worn for years bout still look like new, at my previous home, I had a heating and cooling unit that should not have lasted that long. God is faithful to provide snd bless us. We just have to really look at our lives. My children and their spouses serve the Lord, all my grandchildren except the 4 yr old have accepted Christ. God is good!

    1. Adrienne says:

Cheryl… you’ll be alright… our cars are 20 years old (or close to it) and have 250,000 miles on them. We once had a car that had about 400,000 miles on it, but we’re not sure b/c the odometer stopped working, and the speedometer, and the tachometer, and the gas gauge… They all went out at different times, so we had to buy a Garmin to figure out our speed and put 20 bucks of gas in every three days or so. (I wish we had the capability of using the winky face emoji! I’ll use this one instead… ❤️)

    2. Colleen DeVeau says:

All glory to God! Thank you, CHERYL BLOW, for the reminder to thank God and look for His blessings and provision in everything.

  25. Allison Bentley says:

I have said this before but my fear of the Lord is that I will actually be called to the carpet one day (I.e. a storm will come and I will have to choose- will I follow the Lord?). As I sit here today I have my immediate family in good health and all other things are in working order so “life is good” therefore it’s easy for me to say “Praise God” BUT what if I end up like Job- with nothing, no one and confused? Will I still praise God?? That is my fear of the Lord. I know what He is capable of- yet today I TRUST in His plan and my prayer is that I never lose hope in the one true God!! Psalms 56:3-4 comes to mind “when I am afraid, I will trust in you. In God I trust; I will not be afraid.”

    1. Laura Dianne says:

My Bible study just finished studying Job and you bring up a really good point. Even in the midst of all his sorrow, Job never once turned from God. Am I as faithful when life is NOT so good? Thanks for the pondering…

  26. Donna Mitchell says:

Whenever I read fear the Lord, it made me afraid until I started developing a relationship with the Lord. Although I don’t get it right all the time, I now know He is a loving, kind, gentle Father who wants the best for me and my sisters and brothers.

  27. Rhonda J. says:

I grew up with a healthy dose of “Fear of the Lord!” It was definitely preached more in the 80’s…like obey or your going to hell kinda preaching! Yet not in lecturing, but to get you to see, that God is God..and He has a will and perfect plan for your life, and he is worthy to trust and obey. I had that type of fatherly love for my own dad! I loved him so much and he was loving..but you also knew not to ruffle his feathers! Mainly I didn’t want to disappoint my parents, the only time I did was in I was in full on disobedience which would affect me and others negativity and perhaps bring harm to me! You see this easily as you become a parent, you have such a crazy intense love for your kids, and you want them to be safe and grow up with guidelines and boundaries for their own wellbeing!
    Gotta go…Have a great day!!

  28. Jody Striker says:

I really want to walk in the fear of the Lord. Sometimes, it doesn’t seem clear how to do that. But, I know that God will respond if my desire is to revere Him rightly. Show me how to walk and live each day, Lord. May you be high and lifted up in all I do!

    1. Kris says:

Fearing the Lord is nothing more than having a great respect for Him, and following His ways of doing things. Be in the scripture every day, know what He expects from you, do what He says, think like He thinks, treat other the way He does, and you can EXPECT many blessing in your life.

  29. Caroline Bridges says:

Why would someone feel this way around The Lord?

Whenever I am walking around my college campus or relaxing outside. Not sure about anywhere else.

  30. Mia Faith says:

Standing in awe (fear) of Him!!! Oh, how I love Him and long to know Him more and more.

  31. Sharon, Jersey Girl says:

I don’t really have questions when reading about the fear of the Lord, but I did find this very helpful explanation…”When the Bible says, “How joyful are those who fear the LORD” (128:1), it is not envisioning a fear that makes us run away for safety. Rather, fearing God is a matter of being stunned by his glory, dwarfed by his power, and astounded by his holiness. When we sense the awesome presence of God, we are inclined to drop on our knees, not in order to hide from God under our desks, but because we realize that we can never hide from him, and because the King of kings is worthy of our complete submission.”
“We’re sometimes told that fear of the Lord is reverence for God. This is true, though our use of the word “reverence” can fall short of the implications of “fear.” Genuine fear of the Lord permeates my life, transforming the way I live each moment. Thus, when I revere God with all that I am, I will indeed “follow his ways” (Psalm 128:1).”

I need to be reminded of the goodness of obeying God when it comes to my prodigal sons. I’m trusting that in my obedience and because of my prayers (and the prayers of so, so, many others) that God will bring them back to Him.
Also, in forgiving others. We have been hurt so much and so deeply during our 30 years of ministry – by those we considered close friends. I know that forgiveness must happen in each and every one of those circumstances in order for God to continue blessing our lives. Why do we forgive? Because God commands it.

“Blessed are all who fear the Lord.” Yes and amen!

Praying God’s blessings on each of my dear sisters today!

    1. Sharon, Jersey Girl says:

I did mean to add, I love this description!…”stunned by his glory, dwarfed by his power, and astounded by his holiness.” -Yes!

      1. Cee Gee says:

I lived that, too! Thanks, Sharon!

        1. Cee Gee says:

‘loved’ – I saw the typo just as I hit post!

    2. Rebecca W says:

Just yesterday I was trying to explain fear of the Lord to my 9 year old grandson. This is perfect, so I took a screenshot. Thanks, Sharon!

    3. Mercy says:

“How joyful are those who fear the LORD” – thank you for this.

    4. AZ Walker says:

Thank you Sharon! I wrote down so much of your wisdom here in my SRT study book.

  32. Ruby E says:

Maria, I love this! Thanks for sharing!

  33. CMcD says:

Praying for God’s love and joy and peace for the She’s and the He’s who aren’t married and/or don’t have children. God’s blessings are found in so many places in creation–and you too are blessed in ways beyond measure. Your house and table may be the Lord’s house, and your children may be the church’s extended family. Praying you know you have an important place in God’s kingdom.

    1. Bri says:

Thank you. I appreciate this comment. I had to pause and collect myself on the part of today’s psalm about the blessing of a spouse and children. It’s something I wanted for so long, but it wasn’t in the cards for me, and so verses like this can cut deep. The worst part, though, is probably what being a single childless woman is like within a church culture where marriage and family is everything. I feel so utterly alone and overlooked.

      1. Amy MathewsKushner says:

Bri I’m lifting you up in prayers now for Gods peace to find you and for you to feel His arms around you.

      2. Amy Boyd says:

I’m with you there Bri. I am a divorced childless woman in the church and it can feel very lonely.

  34. Eileen Dowd says:

Thanks “Searching” for a wonderful play list to Our God this morning!!

  35. Maria Baer says:

Fear the Lord— this is a statement that can be so controversial, especially to those who are not walking in faith. Many times is used as a weapon against Christianity: “Why would you worship a God you should fear?” I remember using that argument against my mom when I was not a believer. And it wasn’t until I accepted Jesus into my life and started to truly deep dive into Scripture, that I understood two things— 1) There should always be a healthy dose of fear, as we humans know it. Scripture tells us that a time will come when people will be seeking the word of the LORD, but will not find it. Talk about a clock ticking stopping. So our fear should be that we may go astray from our walk with God. Or that people will turn from God and never accept him in his life. Which brings me to 2) The fear of God is not really what we think of as fear, because that would be as if God was our enemy. I read something about the Fear of God that I loved— “The fear of God arises out of our knowledge of the grace, mercy, love, forgiveness that leads the person who receives it to fear the Lord” (Colin Smith). As John Brown beautifully said— To fear God is to love Him so that His frown would be your greatest dread and His smile would be your greatest delight. Be blessed She’s.

      Love this! Thank you Maria!

    2. Nancy Benak says:

      Amen

    3. Adrienne says:

Maria… No… God is not our enemy! It seems like many use the word “fear” in that context, don’t they?

  36. Danielle B says:

In this challenging season in my family, God’s goodness continues to show and always at just the right time. The blessing in the blessing!

Ladies reading your comments of where your hearts are is also a blessing! This has been a great study to follow Numbers. Well done SRT!

  37. Alissandra Olvera says:

I used to be so confused about the term fearing the Lord. I read about what it meant but in biblical context it seemed to mean something different. It wasn’t until I truly surrendered my life and made Him the priority over everything that I understood what fearing the Lord meant. I struggle with making Gods will a priority still. I tend to live in my little bubble and forget my mission here on earth is so much greater than a comfortable life

  38. Searching says:

Fear = Awe, reverence, obedience and worship of the Lord God Almighty.
All areas, sisters – I need to be reminded of His goodness all day, every day.
Songs coming to mind this morning-
    Weary Traveler, Jordan St Cyr

I stand, I stand in awe of You – I haven’t heard this song in probably 20 years, but it was triggered in my mind this morning. One line in it is, Holy God, to whom all praise is due, I stand in awe of You.
    Amen.

Time for worship, sisters! Hands raised in praise. Another I haven’t heard in years but let’s sing along together – some of us will need to sing the guys part :)
Search for You are Holy (with lyrics) by Michael W Smith.

    Praying, and love you all!

    1. Cee Gee says:

You Are Holy – one of my very favorites!
❤ Not familiar with the older song, but will look it up. Thanks, sister!

    2. Colleen DeVeau says:

Thank you, SEARCHING, for bringing these songs to mind. “I Stand in Awe (You are Beautiful Beyond Description)” has been on my heart for so many years. I love the clear focus and undivided attention that must be given to our Creator, the Lover of our souls that must be given to Him in order to sing it.

  39. Jade Gaines says:

I fear God and remember who He is but sometimes I have to be reminded that He is in control and to trust in His plan and be patient

  40. Kelly (NEO) says:

To fear the Lord is the beginning of wisdom (Prov 9:10).
    .
The goodness of obeying God is found in having peace of mind. While my heart breaks for so many suffering with anxiety today, I know having peace of mind is a gift. Even when stressed there is a calm IN the storm (not from the storm).
    .
JENNY SOMERS – praying for you and your possible change. Praying the Lord brings His wisdom to you.
    .
VICTORIA E – praying your test results bring some clarity to what is happening.

  41. Aimee D-R says:

Amen. Lord help me to walk in obedience in all ways!

  42. Tricia C says:

To me, to fear the Lord means to stand in awe of Him. Because, He is so worthy of all our praise.
When reading this psalm, and thinking about fearing the Lord, Psalm 1 came to mind. I don’t know why. I memorized it when I was a kid.
“Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful.
But his delight is in the law of the Lord; and in his law doth he meditate day and night.
And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.
The ungodly are not so: but are like the chaff which the wind driveth away.
Therefore the ungodly shall not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous.
For the Lord knoweth the way of the righteous: but the way of the ungodly shall perish.”

I’m not sure how that fits in to today’s reading, but it came to mind, so I am sharing in it.
Love and hugs to each of you on this Thursday.
    Tricia

    1. Laura Dianne says:

I think Psalm 1 is a perfect example of obedience to God. God spells it out for us…this is how to obey Me and walk in My ways. And obedience and fear go hand in hand. Thanks for sharing!

    2. Mercy says:

so well fitting. Thank you Tricia!

    3. Michelle P says:

Yes, Psalm 1!! I also think of the opening of Psalm 119, “Blessed are the undefiled in the way, who walk in the law of the Lord. Blessed are those who keep His testimonies, who seek Him with the whole heart…”

  43. Julia C says:

“God’s ways will be our ways if we have a sincere reverence for him: if the heart is joined unto God, the feet will follow hard after him.” (Spurgeon)

“God cares about our good works, not because they affect His will but because they affect who we are. Sowing goodness leads to a life of trusting the Spirit, the type of life that can withstand trials with faith.” (Andrea Lucado, SRT study on Job, day 15)

Our walking in obedience leads to His goodness, but more importantly: it STARTS with His goodness.
    – God prepared the way.
    – Jesus went the way.
    – He became the way.
Jesus is the Way ❤️ We are “wrapped” between goodness and goodness, how can we not obey?

From the song Every Step by CityAlight:
    (Verse 2)
I am sure of your promise to guide me each day
Though some may oppose me, I won’t be ashamed
Whatever I face Lord it won’t be in vain
I will trust in Christ every step I take
    (Verse 3)
So I’m looking to Jesus, perfector of faith
My heart set on heaven where treasure awaits
I’ll run with endurance to finish the race
I will trust in Christ every step I take
    (Chorus)
For all of my days I will live for your glory
    Running with courage and faith
The prize of my journey, the joy of salvation
To meet my King face to face

  44. Jesse Rugh says:

Fear of the Lord is not fear in the way we typically think. Fear of the Lord is to have awe and reverence for who He is! He is our creator and we are His creation. He is omniscient and omnipresent. He is ancient of days! He is Almighty God! He wants what is good for us and when we heed his Word and live righteously, we are doing what God deems is good for us. He’s been convicting me of guarding my tongue and being a good steward of all he has provided me. Thank you Father for your guidance and conviction. Continue to prune me and shine light on areas I need to improve! Amen!

    1. Julia C says:

      Amen ❤️

      Yes! Beautiful!

  45. Mary Ann Graves says:

    Amen

  46. Tina says:

I read the Psalm and then I thought I would listen to it!
Laugh out loud, it was going well until the reader said.. “… and your children will be like young olive trees around your table..”
All I saw in my mind were my 3 children around our dining table with olive shaped heads! Honestly, what am I like!

Seriously though, how positive is this Psalm! The blessings of the Lord is ours, if we live by His commands, if we obey Him.

The Message version puts it this way..

All you who fear God, how blessed you are! how happily you walk on his smooth straight road!
You worked hard and deserve all you’ve got coming. Enjoy the blessing! Soak in the goodness!
Your wife will bear children as a vine bears grapes, your household lush as a vineyard,
The children around your table as fresh and promising as young olive shoots.
Stand in awe of God’s Yes. Oh, how he blesses the one who fears God!
Enjoy the good life in Jerusalem every day of your life. And enjoy your grandchildren.
    Peace to Israel.

The song You are Mighty came to mind as I was revelling in the wonder of God..

You are Good, you are kind
    You are more than these
I’m lost for Words trying to describe you
    Elohim, El-elyon, Aleselewi
Your Greatness is all I see
There is nothing you cannot do
There’s no mountain you cannot move
    If you have said it
    Then you will do it
Cause You have a Track record
    Of keeping Words
    And you’re not about
    To stop doing it now..

Indeed, if You have said it, Lord, then You will do it.. You have promised joy, provision, fruitfulness, prosperity, longevity, peace, blessings, blessings, blessings IF we obey and live by your commands..

What is holding us back from doing to receive from Our God, the Promise Keeper?

What do I have to lose, if I signed on the dotted line..

    NOTHING!
But everything to gain! EVERYTHING TO GAIN!

    BUT GOD..

    AMEN.

Happy Thursday dear hearts. Praying peace over each of you, covered in love and hugs, wrapped in prayers for this day to be God blessed in every way..❤️

    1. Julia C says:

Nothing to lose, but everything to gain. Yes and amen, sister! ❤️

    2. Tricia C says:

      Amen and Amen!

    3. Lanie Hefferly says:

Oh thank you for the other translation! I love the “Enjoy the blessing! Soak in the goodness!”. God reminds me over and over this pregnancy is a gift from a father who loves you! This is a season of fellowship and celebration don’t miss it! I am a horrible gift recipient, I can remember even as a child being excited but not too excited as to make my siblings jealous, or pretending to like my gift as to not hurt someone’s feelings instead of exchanging it for the color or size I really wanted. And I often think that’s exactly what I am doing to God when instead of celebrating I begin planning or worrying about the future instead of sitting in the present with his present. In this season obedience for me just looks like soaking in his goodness !
