a people of his treasured possession

Hey sweet ladies.
My goodness, we are praying for you!

Who knew that a few gals wanting to hold one another accountable would turn into hundreds, potentially thousands, of women spurring one another on and seeking God.

It has been an honor to throw off some toxins with you ladies this month.

We have a new plan coming out this week (since the 35 days of Soul Detox will be over) and we’re so excited to reveal it on Thursday!

Make sure you check back in and are ready to start up with us! This is also a great time to jump in if you’ve gotten behind or you’ve been waiting to start.

This week we’re still learning and praying through how to live in a toxic, sin-filled world and be daughters unaffected by the yuck around us.

I know the Lord has been sifting our thoughts and our attitudes and our views regarding our relationships, but I love that at the heart of it, if we remember that we are His daughters – that shifts everything.

If you’ve hit a point where it’s not so easy or exciting to tuck into God’s word anymore and it is beginning to feel like a chore, marinate on the fact that He created you and set you apart as a DAUGHTER of His. For His own joy, delight, and glory. He isn’t a task-master checking you into devotional time. He longs to love on you and lavish His love and wisdom on your heart.

If you’re in a season where removing the toxins from your soul seems like too much work or robbing yourself of some sort of fun – remember that Psalms 84:10 tells us that better is one day in the courts of the Lord than a thousand elsewhere. The comfort of toxins or the discomfort of removing them is never anything compared to the safe arms of right relationship with our Father that comes from time spent with Him.

If it’s been two days, two weeks, or two years – praise Him for His grace that doesn’t count how long you’ve been away reconnect with your Father.

Let’s memorize Deuteronomy 7:6 together this week:
The Lord your God has chosen you to be a people of his treasured possession,
out of all the peoples who are on the face of the earth.

it is serious joy to know that whatever He has called us to this week, wherever we are, whatever work He is doing in our lives – it all started with Him creating us as daughters.

His people. His treasured possession.

We are praying for you and reading with you.

Remember you can always check in to the website and see what everyone is sharing!
(it’s super encouraging)
Check back on Thursday for the next plan, and
Keep Reading Truth sweet girls.

………………..

grace & peace
Jessi

wish i knew what the next plan was going to be today, since i do my devotions when my eyes first pop open at 6:30am before i have to get my kids up for the day. :(

    1. Kacia says:

Hey lovey! It will be going live tomorrow at 4am CST!! So it'll be up + ready when you do your devos at 6:30am!

Our family just went through a huge testimony of God's Mercy and Glory and can say with huge pride that I am His daughter and He has taken well care of me, and I am so in awe of His power I can't even begin to explain. I've become so much more involved in Church and now understand the whys of his ways. I could have not found your website at a better time (well, I would've liked to do the soul detox) but I am so excited to hear about tomorrow's plan and get started! Thanking the Lord for you amazing ladies for putting this together and for all He has done in our lives. Praying that your initiative also speaks to thousands of souls out there to get closer to Him and be witnesses of His amazing Love.

I have been intrigued in this since I've seen a few of my Instagrammers participating. Do I need to do the first 35 days before I join the new Thursday plan? Would love to do the original one day, but to start with a bunch of inspiring ladies would be nice. What do you think?

    1. Hi Sarah,

I started the Soul Detox Plan a few days after it started and, admittedly, haven't kept up but I intend to start the new plan today and go back and finish Soul Detox at the same time.

Soul Detox is an awesome plan. It will teach you more than you ever wanted to know about yourself.

      Nancy

Thank you for allowing yourself to be such an amazing vessel of God. Remembering we are His daughters & we are powerful loving &self disciplined in Spirit (2 Timothy 1:7) gives us strength to stand grounded in faith & in truth in this “world” we live in. It’s wonderful to be apart of this. Praying you ladies.

    Jill,
I experienced a similar feing for a few weeks not long ago.. But I prayed To God to open back up my heart. I went to bible study on my own on Wedsnesdays & would wake up in prayer.. Forcing myself to do so.. Don’t be discouraged .. It almost feels like there’s a detachment or block there. It’s a very discouraging feeling but keep pushing to lift that block.
    Praying for you sis..

It is so important to remember this in those challenging times of life. Thank you Jessi for putting it so well.

This has been wonderfully encouraging and I am so looking forward to the next study. It is truly amazing to watch God work through so many women. Thank you for having the courage to step out in your faith!!

I have loved Soul Detox! It was just what I needed at this point in my life. I started on day 19, so I've been doing 2 days at a time so I won't miss anything. It's perfect, because I can read it on my phone and it fits perfectly into the 5-15 minute time period I have in the morning before my son wakes up. I love all the Instagram pictures people are posting on Twitter too. They help me to see how other women are seeing the passage and relating it to their own lives. I am looking forward to seeing what the next plan is! I have one request, can the thread for each day be posted earlier on the website? I read at 6am Central time, and I'd love to have the discussion open right when it's fresh in my mind. Many days I don't have time to go back and read what people have said once my day has taken off. Maybe if the thread was opened the night before, that way us early birds could post our thoughts too?

    1. Samantha says:

Such a good idea Lisa! I'm in the UK so I'm about 5/6 hours ahead, so that would help me too!

  9. Meg says:

Thank you, Jessi, for this encouraging post- it spoke right to my heart! Our God is so good!

    Meg

  10. I am totally looking forward to the new plan since I am so behind in the Soul Detox. I will still read it though but glad that I can now join you girls for a new plan. This post is so encouraging. Thank you thank you!!!

  11. Nancy says:

I have a question. I just started the plan yesterday!!! Love, love love it!! However, since I am only on day 2, will i also be able to start the new study on Thursday? I hate being behind and not being able to catch up.how does that work??

    1. Samantha says:

Hi Nancy, you can add multiple plans to your Youversion app so you’d definitely be able to take part alongside everyone else AND keep on with your Soul Detox days!

      1. Nancy says:

Oh good. I did notice that when I was looking it over that their are different plans you can choose. I was afraid to click on any of them for fear of not being able to finish the soul detox! Also, I read your response earlier about Beth Moore's blog and doing the Nehemiah study. I enjoy Beth so much. Did her Esther study. Would love to do the Nehemiah one also. Hoping to get the ladies at church interested. Thanks for your help!!!

        1. Samantha says:

I was a little worried about adding others at first but read into it and discovered that was fine!
The Nehemiah study sounds really good. It starts on the 26th (there's lots of info on Beth's blog). I think I stand a lot to learn from it :)
How did you find the Esther study? I was thinking of doing one of her own studies in the Autumn months.

          1. Nancy says:

We did it through our women's ministries at church. I ordered the book of of amazon. We also watched the video every Friday and went through the book with her through the video. I recommend it!!! WOW! Esther was an amazing woman of God. Great study. I checked amazon for the Nehemiah book and I can get it through them too. Do you have your book yet? Where did you get it?

          2. Samantha says:

I received my book this morning, I live in England so I had to get it shipped over. I know some people in my group got it from Lifeway though.
I think I may try the Esther study then, it was one of the ones I was thinking about and with such a good recommendation, it's surely meant to be!

  12. Elise Dear says:

This is beautiful Jessi! The grace and peace of Jesus is so overwhelming! I'm praying for all the #shereadstruth gals and can feel the father's heart in all of this!

  13. Casie says:

Thank you for the encouragement! I can’t wait to start the new one with you. I found this one very late…but the accountability is fantastic! It can be very easy to sart something then let it go after a few days. You are a blessing to us all! Thank you.

  14. Beth says:

It's funny, I keep hearing the song "Shake It Out" by Florence and the Machine – I hadn't paid much attention to this one line until doing the Soul Detox – when she sings "It's hard to dance with a devil on your back." Wow. That line says so much to me when reflecting on getting the toxins out of my life. I'd rather be dancing – wouldn't you?

    1. Samantha says:

Beth, I love Florence and the Machine! I thought I was the only one to have drawn similarities between Soul Detox and the song!

"Shake It Out" started to really mean something special to me around day 3.
For me, it was the lines "It's always darkest before the dawn" and "I am done with my graceless heart"

      1. Beth says:

Yes! I have been listening to it a lot and I can't believe how much it speaks to me! Also "looking for heaven, found the devil in me" Such a great song. Such a great message.

  15. Samantha says:

I am so looking forward to Thursday's reveal, Soul Detox and the lovely community here has helped me SO much. I have an entirely different way of thinking now than I did when I started. I'm not there 100% but, hopefully soon I will be. Both God and all the wonderful encouragement from #SheReadsTruth have helped me battle some demons over the past month, for that I am ever so grateful!
Excited to start another study (as well as the Nehemiah one I'm doing with Beth Moore on her blog) for a Truth filled summer!

  16. Megan says:

I'm excited to see about the new reveal on Thursday! I just linked in last week and LOVE this site and all the encouragement that comes from everyone. It makes being a believer and staying on track so much better when I know I can come here, read some encouragement and be challenged to live fully for the Lord :)

  17. Mama Pea says:

Thank you so much for your continued encouragement! I can't wait to share the new plan so that all of those that have joined us don't feel like they are starting out behind. You are right…we are all in this together and the bigger we can make our "together" the better! Love you to you amazing ladies!

  18. Victoria says:

Can't wait for Thursday's reveal! I am loving this project and the fact that so many are getting involved.

Your thoughts in this post are right on. I don't know who said it, but Andy Mineo is always rapping about how "Sin over promises and under delivers." We need to remember that for sure!

  19. Nancy C says:

Skye, after a week (two?) of saying I'm going to join in here, I just finally did today. I began journaling over the weekend – so, you're not alone in just beginning! WE can do this!

  20. Jill says:

I'm not gonna lie … I've been on the fritz spiritually for a while now. I go to church, feel disconnected, skip it a few weeks, go again, try again.

I think I'm frustrated by other "Christians" lately and how faith is used as an agenda for politics, business and a myriad of other things and I have let that hinder my own steps.

Through a lot of painful loss of the past few years I've clung to God then let go then tried to get back only to be left drifting along (at least that's how I feel). It's the strangest feeling of my life as I've grown up as a "churched" individual and felt a spiritual stir for many, many years.

I listened to Soul Detox from lifechurch.tv (along with many, many other lessons by Craig) and I just still feel disconnected.

I'd love to join your next study and just feel part of a group again.

    1. Beth says:

Jill, I totally understand your feelings about being frustrated by other Christians who are not acting in a Christian manner. It's hard and can be a hindrance, but that is why this community is so important! Praying for you and hope you find what I found here.

  21. Rebecca says:

I love this word today – very fitting for Father’s Day! We are daughters of the greatest Father of all!! Looking forward to the new plan on Thursday. Thank you for organizing this!

  22. skye says:

so some truth here. i lost my #shereadstruth journal. and it stopped me in my tracks. i haven't had the heart to pick the reading back up and start again because all of my thoughts, fears, and things i learned so far are GONE. it kills me. breaks my heart. tears me apart. i was feeling VERY discouraged until I read this today. i'm going to start again – behind as i am – and NOT lose my journal this time. thanks for the blessing through His word this morning friends. :) my heart is swelling in love now…. aaahhhh….

    1. Skye, I'm going to pray RIGHT NOW you find your journal! And just like I told Kim above, there is no guilt in getting behind or not being on the same devo as the group. Read your Bible daily (if you can), have a heart to learn… God will truly be ecstatic over these things, He doesn't have a clipboard to check off all the things we've done. His clipboard had one question: does she love the LORD? {check yes or no}. Enjoy your day in the Word — xoxo

    2. Nancy says:

Skye~I too will pray that your journal shows up. Stay strong. This is one of the attitudes that the evil one wants to see is defeat. Do not be discourage. Pray and and that faith and trust knowing God will help spure your mind to help you remember. Take some time and just relax. It will show up!! You go girl–start back up and kick in the gates of hell my friend!!!! Let us know when it shows up!!

    3. skye says:

Thank you both so much for your prayers and encouragement! I finally realized it isn't about my notes or my memories – it is about what God has to reveal to me through His word that matters. I bought a new journal yesterday and I can't wait to fill it up with His truth. :) xoxo

  23. SO excited to hear that a new series will pick up soon! I jumped on board late and though I've been doing it at my own pace, I'm anxious to be on the same schedule as everyone else. Love this and will definitely help to share it with my readers/followers. Thank you ladies for organizing this… I pray you are all filled to the measure to continue to follow God's Will in this awesome venture!

    1. THANK YOU KIM! We love this community so much + are happy you're joining us!

PS. There is no guilt needed if you get behind or are on a different page. Do your best, God will be ecstatic! xoxo

    2. THANK YOU KIM! We love this community so much + are happy you're joining us!

    3. Kim — we are so glad you're joining us!!! Happy Monday, xo
