Acts 13:27–31

Scripture is God breathed and true. When we memorize it, we carry the good news of Jesus with us wherever we go.

So far in our survey, we’ve memorized Acts 13:27–29. This week, we’ll add verses 30 and 31, where the risen Christ continues His ministry. Copy the verses down on paper as you commit them to memory.

27 Since the residents of Jerusalem and their rulers did not recognize him or the sayings of the prophets that are read every Sabbath, they have fulfilled their words by condemning him. 28 Though they found no grounds for the death sentence, they asked Pilate to have him killed. 29 When they had carried out all that had been written about him, they took him down from the tree and put him in a tomb. 30 But God raised him from the dead, 31 and he appeared for many days to those who came up with him from Galilee to Jerusalem, who are now his witnesses to the people.
—Acts 13:27–31

Happy Sunday sweet She’s! Last Sunday for my daughter at our church. We leave Monday for college move-in. Please pray because on Friday she received a notification for jury duty. We’re gonna try to handle that on Monday because she will no longer be living in this county.

    1. Adrienne says:

Blessings and prayers for this next season of life, Mari. ❤️
      .
Because Alyssa will no longer be in the county, that should work. Know you’ll keep us posted.

And… it is good that your kiddos have left your wonderful nest in stages. It will help your mama’s heart. Or maybe you feel a quick bandaid rip would be better. Prayers for you. I remember…

We have a cloud of witnesses around us. We also need to witness the GOOD NEWS to others! We so didn’t deserve the sacrifice Jesus made for us. It pains me to think of what He went through.
    BUT GOD!
This was and is for all of us.

  6. Wendy B says:

Thank you Lord for all you have done for us. With humble, heart felt praise, and thanksgiving lifted high may we give you all honor and glory that is due as we gather with brothers and sisters today. Amen✝️

‘Let us come before His presence with thanksgiving; let us make a joyful noise to Him with songs of praise!

    Good song this morning!

  8. Rhonda J. says:

Is so easy to think of the Jesus that saved us in Heaven, working all things for our God, giving us strength, and leading us on-
But to remember the sacrifice that made that all possible. Something had to die. Blood had to pour out of the living. And to know it was the friend, and Teacher, that would take the accusations, be spit on, beaten relentlessly. Carry a huge heavy cross all the way up the hill to Calvery. Lay upon it as they nail your feet and one hand at a time. Then a slow death, life draining out as you struggle to breath, writhing in pain. (I believe God had to give him the same strength and Almighty comfort that he gives to us?)
But all that for me. The prideful, in my own life, to even be bothered to think of Jesus for so many years.
But now that I get it, I get it, It is mind-boggling, blows me away, hurts my heart with so much gratefulness(that can’t even explain it for what it is.) The only was is to LIVE it. Tell it. Share it.
A gift so precious that my whole life is different. So odd to the world. So strange to them. But I love my Lord, God and Savior so much I want to spend my days, hours, and minutes with him. The center of it all.
“your the one I hold on to for the beauty of your name” is a great line from
“Center” by Bethel. Oh..how I love you!

“And my whole life for Your glory
My whole world for You only
Everything for the honor of Your name
And if my days tell a story, let it be of You only
Everything for the honor of Your name!”

    Have a beautiful Sunday!

BUT GOD! God raised Him from the dead! The song, “Because He Lives,” by Gloria and Bill Gaither, came to mind.
(Chorus) Because He lives I can face tomorrow,
Because He lives all fear is gone
Because I know He holds the future
And life is worth the living
    Just because He lives

    1. Rhonda J says:

Yes! I LOVE that song! I played it a lot in jail ministry recently because the title of the series after Lent was “Because He Lives!” So it was the theme song!

    2. MARTHA HIX says:

      I love that song too!❤️

  13. Tina says:

I have not been very good at memorising these verses, but I am so very thankful for this short but to the point version of the Easter story! …And, our redemption story!
Though we didnt know, or sat on the fence pretending we didn’t, He, JESUS, still gave HIS life for us, did we in any way shape or form deserve such a love, such a Grace ongoing?
    .
    Definitely NO!
    .
    BUT GOD..
    .
Even as we were and are, HE still trusts us to be witnesses to others, once we understand JESUS’S presence in our life, and the sacrifice, the unmerited favour- Grace, the love, and mercy poured over and for us..
An act of love so pure, so true for our Salvation and our redemption..
    .
To be witnesses means we have accepted and have understood what was given for us to be able to live in relationship with Father God.. and to know this, is to share what you know and have seen, received and continue to receive, Mercy at the cost of the cross, Love in its highest form, and Grace , so undeserved. I shiver and tears roll at the thought..
    .
    BUT GOD..
We are nowhere near perfect, and yet..HE trusts us to tell the story of Jesus and the love He has for us..
    .
Too right, the old hymn comes to mind..
    .
    Tell me the story of Jesus, write on my heart every word;
tell me the story most precious,
    sweetest that ever was heard.
    .
Tell of the cross where they nailed Him,
    writhing in anguish and pain;
tell of the grave where they laid Him,
tell how He .I’ve the again.
    .
Love in that story so tender,
    clearer than ever I see.
Stay, let me weep while you whisper,
love paid the ransom for me..
    .
Let’s speak, let’s witness of the ransom, love paid for us..
    .
    AMEN.
    .
Happiest of Sundays, beautiful daughters of the Most High God,
    love,

    “BUT GOD”
    .
The plans of men and the devil will never override God’s plans.
    .
    Our Redeemer lives. ♥️
    .
    Psalm 31:23-24 ESV
“Love the Lord, all you his saints!
The Lord preserves the faithful but abundantly repays the one who acts in pride.
Be strong, and let your heart take courage, all you who wait for the Lord!”
    .
May you be encouraged as you gather with your church family today.
