John 16:20

Scripture is God breathed and true. When we memorize it, we carry the good news of Jesus with us wherever we go.

Spend this week memorizing the second half of John 16:20.

“Truly I tell you, you will weep and mourn, but the world will rejoice. You will become sorrowful, but your sorrow will turn to joy.”
—John 16:20

My sweet friend Soma and I went on our usual Saturday morning walk and we talked, prayed, laughed and we talked about this study and THIS very very verse or the one like it from Psalms 30:5, “Weeping may stay by night, but rejoicing comes in the morning.” It was a sweet conversation as we both know that we aren’t told “which” morning that joy will come BUT we know it will. WE trust our Jesus! Happy Sunday sweet She’s! I “get” to sleep in tomorrow and looking forward to it!

I understand all too well the fear of anticipation. I had it during Tanner’s lifetime, but somehow it has spilled over into mine. I need to stop with the fears. I think it’s because I’ve seen so much medically. Medical trauma. It’s sad to admit how many bad scenarios go through my mind on any given day.

    1. Mari V says:

Sweet Traci, praying for you right now. Please know you are not alone. BUT for now, this moment I am lifting YOU sweet Traci to our JESUS!

      1. Traci Gendron says:

        Thank you so much Mari

They play through mine too because so much trauma and cancers, wrecks and stuff ALL the time. Lord, give us Peace, Faith and Trust and wipe these thoughts away!!

Praying for you Rhonda. It becomes just too much sometimes. I know we need to give it to God, but sometimes these things go through my mind.

What great reassurance we have in the Truth of God’s Word – sorrow will turn to joy. We sure don’t want the pain, hurt, grief, sorrow or sad, but Praise the Lord because we know Jesus we have hope, His presence and a can call out to Him.

Thank you for praying for me. Yesterday was an answered prayer and I had a better day than I’ve had in 3 weeks. Physical symptoms were less limiting and I had more energy to do just what was neccassary and got out for a much longer walk in our beautiful river valley trails. My head was clear, not foggy or dizzy and so felt confident and comfortable going out and about. My heart and mind felt more hopeful throughout the day and the unknown of what urgent means and what’s ahead medically did not feel so overwhelming. Thank you SRT sisters.❤️

Have prayed for you all this morning. May the joy and praise to our Lord be on your hearts and voices as you gather in community on this Pentecost Sunday. God be praised✝️

Praying for you sweet Wendy. May you find peace in Isiah 41:10: “fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” He’s got you! He is always with you. ❤️✝️

Our sorrow does turn into joy it might not happen when we think it should but God does give us joy.

hey she’s, I found out I was pregnant and miscarried during this study, truly got to ride the dancing and mourning rollercoaster. Its really odd sitting here though, not in despair like the last time this happened because I know what Jesus did through that hurt. I have really been at peace in my little bubble here, with my sweet Iris as a reminder of the joy that can come from the hurt. pray for me that I can carry that with me as I go to see my family today and my husbands family the rest of the week. and as Rhonda said, it’s not the moment, it’s the anticipation of more or worse hurt to come. will this keep happening? I pray for healing, but also against fear. Prayers for any other women in here experiencing the same thing.

    1. Wendy B says:

Oh Lanie….I am so sorry for your loss. May the tender place of sorrow and sad find continued peace, the Lord’s comfort and joy carry your heart and your fears be met with hope and reassurance of His plans and purposes for you and your family Praying for you❤️

    2. Rhonda J. says:

Oh Lanie, I’m so sorry. Yes, it is crazy when you are in the midst. It’s really so hard to know what you should be doing/thinking/feeling. And then the years go by..and you can look back and see your life, the goods and bads, pains and joys, and how God’s hand was there throughout!!
I so remember praying for your pregnancy and how joyful and relieved when little Iris was born!! And the lost pregnancies, you WILL MEET in Heaven.

    GM She’s, Happy Sunday!
Sometimes the thoughts of pain lurking in the shadows just waiting to attack us is overwhelming and makes me fearful. What’s in the near future..sickness? Injury? Loss, hurt,…? I don’t want any of it, no thank you! But knowing that Jesus tells us about facing it and that Joy comes in the morning, gives me a truth to hold on to. That the storm will end. And the examples of giving birth is such a good one. We don’t even fear it because we just know it’s part of it. That should be the way of life, knowing that “we will weep and mourn..you will be sorrowful, but your sorrow will turn to joy!”
Thankfully the old testament and the new are full of stories and people that suffered for a bit, but all for God’s purposes, not for naught. Purpose! Growth. Turning our eyes back to God. Redirecting us. Putting our hope on things that matter more than the present. Testifying for others. Miracle Healings. So many reasons for the afflictions. Oh yes..and pride. Pride check. So we shall not boast. To comfort others.

    “Be JOYFUL in Hope
    Patient in affliction
    Faithful in Prayer” Romans 12:12

Let your anchor in Jesus hold you strong and tethered! Let your pain be your purpose, your mess your message, and your test your testimony! Your Story His Glory! Amen!

    “Sorrow WILL turn to joy.”
    .
    We can bank on it.
    .
Jesus is alive from the dead and His Spirit is within us. This is our JOY.
    .
May your gatherings today be filled with a fresh move of Holy Spirit.
    .
    Happy Pentecost Sunday.

I need to be reminded of this in the worst way. Thank you.

  11. Tina says:

Truly I tell you, you will weep and mourn, but the world will rejoice. You will become sorrowful, but your sorrow will turn to joy.
    ..
    .
    Truly.
    .
    In truth.
    .
    Really.
    .
    Sincerely.
    .
    Genuinely.
    .
Without a doubt, for sure.. I tell you, you will weep and mourn, it is the way of the world..we cannot escape it..
We will weep, for what is lost, broken or no more.
We will mourn because our hearts know no other way to deal with the sorrows in our hearts..
And it is true, the world that is not affected by our/your great sadness, will continue as normal, BUT.. take heart that sadness/sorrow will turn into joy and gladness..
    .
I love Jesus’s example of a woman in childbirth, the pain of it and yet when the little one is born, that pain is forgotten for the joy of a safe delivery and the excitement of the new addition to the family!
    .
And so it is with our weeping and mourning, and as I mentioned earlier in this study, from my greats favourite book at the moment ‘Were going on a bear hunt..
You can’t go over it, you can’t go under it, YOU HAVE TO GO THROUGH IT,
Not because God wants you to suffer, but because going through it is the way to make it through that storm of life..
    .
    It is well.
    .
It will always be well, because God our Father through Jesus’s death and resurrection, promises that all will be made new, and that joy, does indeed, come in the morning!
    .
    BUT GOD..
    .
    AMEN.
    .
    Happiest of Pentecost Sundays!
    .
Rejoice for the Spirit of the LORD is with and within us.
Much love and blessing on your day..❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
