Grace Day

Open Your Bible

2 Samuel 7:16

Take today to pause from the busyness of the season to catch up on your reading and make space for prayer. Consider making time for one of the ideas from your lists on pages 16–17 to practically and tangibly embody the Advent rhythms of waiting and celebrating.

“Your house and kingdom will endure before me forever, and your throne will be established forever.”
—2 Samuel 7:16

    Endless
    Eternal
    Everlasting
Each of those words as well as ‘forever’ represent our ‘ultimate reality’ which John Piper describes as
“God and His Son interacting in love and holiness for our eternal salvation.”

    2 Samuel 7:22 NLT-
“How great you are, O Sovereign LORD! There is no one like you. We have never even heard of another God like you!

    * That isn’t everything I wrote this morning, but most of it. ☺

  9. Cee Gee says:

I just realized my comment isn’t here! If I can recall it all, I’ll repost.

I did mention orayer for SEARCHING’S requests and for CAROLINE BRIDGES,’ grandma. ❤

  12. Rhonda J. says:

Honestly, I have never really been a “busy, busy” person. I don’t know if I’m just lazy compared to ya’ll or what! But my days are slow and not too much to do. I actually relax and read a lot. Always with Christian music going or messages. I try to put Jesus throughout my day. My problem is spending longer time in truly praying. I seem to pray short prayers all the time. But I have been trying to either get on my knees and pray out loud. (it definitely is a different posture that seems more purposeful) And to listen in prayer and just be still). It takes more effort, and shows earnestness in wanting to take time with him then my silent prayers all day. (those are good too, he hears them all.) To me it would be like texting someone all day as opposed to meeting them and spending time in real conversation.

  13. Rose Clements says:

Ive been here since day 1, but I think I’m missing something. What are

  14. Traci Gendron says:

Thank you for your prayers! The surgery will be either at noon or 3:00 today.

  15. Cindy Hanna says:

    Oops.. meant Inter-testmental period.

  16. Cindy Hanna says:

I too have the Advent book and was inspired to not rush through my thoughts this morning. I contemplated the 400 year inter- testament Al period of silence and wondered about the 20ish generations of people who lived them.
I’m not so good at slowing down but that’s the goal today. Think I will sit next to the Christmas tree and intentionally count small blessings that have occurred this past week. Then take a moment to thank God in prayer for those blessings.

    1. Rhonda J. says:

that’s a great way to show grattitude Cindy! We always talk about the 400 years of quiet when we start Advent study! It is an important time to “see.”

  17. Cee Gee says:

    2 Samuel 7:29b NLT
“…For you have spoken, and when you grant a blessing to your servant, O Sovereign Lord, it is an eternal blessing!”

    Eternal
    Everlasting
    Endless
Words that (in our frail human capacity) are used to ‘describe’ our God and Savior. These words speak of our ‘ultimate reality’. John Piper says ultimate reality is
“God and His Son interacting in love and holiness for our eternal salvation.”

SEARCHING, I am behind in reading comments this week and just saw this this morning! Praying for these special ones in your path and life, and prayers for you as you minister to them! ❤❤❤-
    “Prayer requests –
For LW, KB and family – memorial service for their loved one is today. They all have a long road of grief and healing ahead.
For Judy and her husband that I met in a long term care facility recently – he has some health issues that now require a wheelchair and is declining mentally due to dementia. When I saw them this week, he seemed to have lost a lot of his ability to communicate. They do know the Lord…”

Reminded again of Holy Forever, Is He Worthy, and for Christmas:
Marc Martel – How Many Kings
(In verse 22 David said, “How great you are, O Sovereign Lord! There is no one like you. We have never even heard of another God like you!”

    Love, hugs, and prayers! ❤

    CAROLINE BRIDGES-
praying your grandma recovers quickly and has lots of helping hands this year to keep those traditions going! ❤

  18. Cheryl Blow says:

I relate to the constantly bring on the go! I thought when I retired everything would slow down but it has not! I’m working on learning to slow down and savor the day! Asking God to order my day. It is a work in progress!

Praying for all the requests! Love you ladies and all your insights!

  19. Wendy B says:

Forever is a strong, full and final word – it does not end and this is who our faithful Lord is.

Thank you Lord that there has never been nor will there ever be a time when you are not forever King of Kings, Lord of Lords and reigning forevermore. Amen❤️

  20. Sharon Jersey Girl says:

“Forever” – for a limitless time : for all time.

→God’s kingdom will endure forever. 2 Samuel 7:16

→His throne will be established forever. 2 Samuel 7:16

→Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever. Hebrews 13:8

→You, Lord, reign forever; Lamentations 5:19

    →His love endures forever.
    1 Chronicles 16:34

→God is the strength of my heart
    and my portion forever.
    Psalm 73:26
→For by one sacrifice he has made perfect forever those who are being made holy. Hebrews 10:14

→The world and its desires pass away, but whoever does the will of God lives forever. 1 John 2:17

In verses 28-29, David ends his reply to God’s promise with this: “Lord God, You are God; Your words are true, and You have promised this grace to Your servant. Now, please bless Your servant’s house so that it will continue before You forever. For You, Lord God, have spoken, and with Your blessing Your servant’s house will be blessed forever.”
    ✨️
Love that David knew that it was only by God’s blessing and keeping that the promise would come to pass.
    .
Lord, help us all lean in to You to bless and keep us in Your will so that You will be glorified.

  26. Mollie says:

Lord Jesus I ask you to show me Your Glory, a glimpse into the potency of who You are, a glance at the slender or Your face. The thickness of Your Holy Spirit so present it stops me in my tracts.
Let me encounter You in a new and unique as I await for You during Advent.

  28. Searching says:

Today’s scripture is Nathan the prophet, winding up the message the Lord gave him for David.
True then, true now. Indeed, Jesus, a descendant through the generations of David’s lineage, Son of God, our Lord and Savior, will continue to be on the throne, forever.

The grace day note suggests we consider making time “to practically and tangibly embody the Advent rhythms of waiting and celebrating.” Reading that brought tears. I get up early to study and pray and after that, it’s go-go-go and has been for years. I know I’m not the only one who crosses an item on my oft dreaded to-do list as I add several more to it, and I’m certainly not the only one who’s dog-tired every day. Sisters, praying the Lord will energize each of us today, give us the insight and clarity to efficiently order our day so we have more time for Him, to eliminate any fluff on that list and to make good progress on the rest of it.

    1. Kelly (NEO) says:

      May it be so

    2. Sharon Jersey Girl says:

“I get up early to study and pray and after that, it’s go-go-go and has been for years.” …I can so relate to this! And everyday as I pray I ask God to remind me of His presence all throughout the day, but how often I forget.

    3. Lynne from Alabama says:

I can certainly relate to the getting up early to pray and study then go go going! This is the story of my life! I love you all and am praying for all the requests! May we focus on Jesus and not our hardships and heartaches! ❤️

    4. MARTHA HIX says:

Yes! Thank you for all your prayers, reminders, and encouragement! ❤️

    5. Kelsey Ruth says:

This totally resonated with me! Thank you sister! ❤️

    6. Wendy B says:

I really can relate to this as well. May our steps throughout each day be ordered and in tune to His presence and from the leading of our Lord.❤️

    7. AZ Walker says:

You are not the only one dear Searching and thank you for your prayer for us. ❤️ praying for you and your loved ones.

    8. DW says:

Yes, I can so relate! I love my early morning quiet time (not so early today) but then I go go go so busy all day with work and life and often forget to reconnect with Him throughout the day. Trying to take a slow, quiet morning with Him after such a busy week. Thanks for the encouragement!

    9. R says:

I can so relate to the “dreaded”
to do list! Praying for all
She’s that we let go our “Martha”
and allow our Mary to be
      preeminent today and
throughout this season of waiting and celebrating!!

    10. Tina says:

      Amen, Mollie..❤

    11. Tina says:

True then… True now..Not one thing changes the same yesterday, tomorrow, and in the days to follow..
Praying along with you, Searching and adding my Amen..
      Hugs..❤
