Zacchaeus is often remembered as the “wee little man” in the children’s Bible song, but his story is much deeper than that. Once a greedy and lonely man, despised by his neighbors, Zacchaeus experienced a profound transformation after encountering Jesus.
When Jesus passed through Jericho, Zacchaeus was so eager to see Him that he ran ahead and climbed a tree for a better view. As Jesus approached, something incredible happened: He called Zacchaeus by name. Can you imagine the shock Zacchaeus must have felt when this renowned figure not only noticed him but also called on his name personally? Jesus didn’t shout “Hey, guy in the tree!” or use any of the negative labels others had stuck on Zacchaeus, like “tax collector” or “wee little man.” He called him by his given name, which happened to mean “pure” in Hebrew, a meaning far removed from Zacchaeus’s past conduct but one he would prove to live up to.
This personal approach is not unique to Zacchaeus’s story. Throughout Scripture, we see how important names are to God. For example, God called to Adam in the Garden (Genesis 3:9), Moses from the burning bush (Exodus 3:4), and many others such as Abraham, Martha, and even us. Jesus said that He “calls His own sheep by name,” emphasizing that God’s call is deeply personal (John 10:3).
When Jesus calls us, it is never impersonal and he doesn’t use the negative labels we may have picked up. He calls us by our truest identity as His beloved. He wants to enter our life, our house, our heart. He knows our struggles and is reaching out to us personally, offering His love and grace.
God’s call is not only personal but also urgent. Just as Jesus told Zacchaeus to “hurry” and host Him “today,” He calls us to turn to Him now—not when our lives are perfectly in order or when we have enough proof to believe. None of us are guaranteed tomorrow, but the invitation to come to Him is available now.
There are two responses to God’s call, as seen in Scripture. Will we be like the rich young ruler who came to Jesus but walked away sad because he couldn’t commit to Him (Mark 10:17–22)? Or like Zacchaeus, will we choose to respond joyfully and welcome Jesus into our innermost self?
Zacchaeus didn’t just invite Jesus into his home—he was genuinely transformed from the inside out. He repented and paid a significant price to right his wrongs. True repentance involves turning away from sin and turning back to God. While repentance may seem costly, the reward is far greater: a joyful life with Christ now and forever.
Whether we’ve already welcomed Jesus into our lives or not, let’s take a moment to listen to His personal call. Hear God saying your name. He knows you, sees you, and loves you no matter what you’ve done or what others say. Only when we invite Jesus in and repent of our sins can we experience the true joy He offers.

This is for Tanya: the reply button isn’t working… I know someone who got scammed by someone like this.he was here from Africa and was married;but scammed/stole $ from a couple of unsuspecting women. 1 of my friends did some investigating and exposed him. God was protecting you.
Hi Sandi!

Hi Mercy,
Greetings from She Reads Truth HQ. Thank you so much for your kind message and prayers! We hope to have this error resolved soon! Thank you so much for your patience and understanding.
Happy Monday shes. The story of Zacchaeus rings differently for me today. It is a reminder to change our perspective if we are short. I am a short girl 5’1 and I am reminded to today to find a ladder, or a tree if the crowd blocks my (spiritual) view of Christ. Get a ladder sister, find a tree, and get climbing up to a new height where views are not obstructed. Our shortness is more than just physical height, it can symbolize our feelings of inadequacy, shame, sinfulness or being overlooked. I know I had to work through that mindset and limitations. Many times we can be small and blocked by the crowd (distractions, life, busyness, others’ judgment). But Jesus sees us through the crowd. Remember the woman with the issue of blood, same story, she did not stay put, she got moving, crawling through the crowd to encounter Christ Himself. How about us? We must draw close to Him by getting moving. When we change our position, we change our perspective. For some of us, that can mean to change our environment (get away from worldly distractions), change the posture (humility, repentance, worship and gratitude). Move higher so we can experience Christ. Another aspect I noticed, for a man like Zach (of wealth and status) to climb a tree, it can look very foolish to the crowd. It will cost us some dignity for climbing to encounter Jesus. We might be laughed at, mocked at, but keep the goal in mind, run for the prize, laser focus. The Lord knows who is seeking Him. The Lord sees who is risking their comfort and dignity to move toward to Him. Let it be an encouragement to you and me today that if we feel small, too weak, too overwhelmed, or insignificant, unseen among taller people, don’t stay in that place. Move, climb, seek. Change our perspective by rising above the noise, the crowd, the normal height. Go higher in prayer, in faith, in our surrendering. Like uncle Zach, we will find Jesus, who in His heart is already looking, expecting us and waiting for us to find Him. He will call us by name, and say “Today salvation has come to THIS house”. @CEE GEE: praying you feel better. @TARA B: praying for your daughter and the prodigals to return. Praying as I scroll. Be blessed dear sisters.
❤️❤️❤️❤️
Love this…such wisdom! Thank you for sharing!
Mercy, thank you your words and most importantly, your prayers!
I love this perspective thank you for this breakdown sis ❤️❤️
“When Jesus calls us, it is never impersonal.” What a blessing it is to know that we are called by name, chosen, and loved by God!
Some of you know that I was a hairstylist for 25 years. I loved my career. But it was full of sinful behavior. Gossip, foul language, drinking, cheating. I would hear it all from clients and see it in other stylists. I was included in some of it too. I remember searching for something better. A client invited me to church. Then another stylist/friend and I went to BSF for years. It was my turn around. But let’s face it we still mess up. I have such a desire to be better. To be more like Jesus and then I get in the world around people I know and care for who are not in the same place. It is so hard to not fall back into bad behavior. BUT God..right Tina?! He gives me the Holy Spirit to convict me. To help me through these situations. To remember to keep my eyes up on Jesus.
Thank you all for your prayers for him!
I loved the podcast today, being reminded that Z professed Christ through his actions! ❤️
Thank you Lord for calling me by my name and for loving me despite my sins! Amen ❤️
Zacchaeus may have begun as a small man, but ended a bigger man. While Zacchaeus sought Jesus, Jesus sought him more. Filled with the spirit. Emptied of greed. Made right in community.
Lord, call me down from whatever tree. Help me to let go of the past. To right any wrongs. To experience the enormity of Your love.
Just this morning, I was lying in bed feeling forgotten and overlooked, even by God. Even asked myself why God would bother to “see” me. I guess this reading was meant to be the answer to my question this morning. Yes, God sees me. He even calls me by name. Insignificant, invisible me. I’m not insignificant or invisible to Him. I’m not where I need to be in my walk with God right now. That’s why I feel alone and not seen. I pray about it, but dont feel a change. Don’t feel better or closer. I’m kind of a mess. You ladies lift me up every day. I appreciate your insights into the readings and stories and seeing the ways God works in each of your lives.
Keep looking up towards Jesus as He keeps looking down towards you! ❤️
Oh dear Teresa! You are significant to me, us…as to Jesus of course! In these times, that when we lament and cry out in faith and praise as well! Till our soul catches up!! A hard, fought Halelujah!! Thank you for being here again. When you drifted off I sought you out, and messaged you! Because you matter to us!! We are still praying for you in your illness and know God has purpose and plan for you!! Thank you for your honesty. Take an action toward Jesus! The more we serve and connect the more we are blessed! We have a lady, that I didn’t know at the time, diagnosed with Alzheimers, and she stared Jail Ministry with us! It renews her purpose and faith!! She is Kingdom focused instead of her eyes on her own condition and where and when it will come. But we will sink with our eyes off Jesus!! Love you and hugs, and prayers for Amanda still!!
Just wow this morning! After reading Kaitie Stoddard’s devotional I thought to myself that she had gleaned every significant detail possible from this short story of Zacchaeus. I was wrong. Thanks to the insight of this community, I was stretched to consider so many more ideas of significance. TINA told of the cost of following Jesus, RHONDA J observed our desire to be noticed by “famous” people. KIMBERLY noticed the desire some of have to “hide in a crowd “. KELLY NEO and SEARCHING reminded us of the word “if”. Feeling blessed by y’all.
Yes, Amen!!
SO many take aways!
Tammi mentioned that Zacchaeus took the action step to go up the tree!! When we are stirred take action to see better!!
When I saw todays’s reading, my mind immediately jumped back to Nicodemus. The contrasts are stunning:
1)Nicodemus comes to Jesus in the cover of darkness unsure of being seen associating with this Jesus.
Zacchaeus in broad daylight/amid a huge crowd and (as SEARCHING said, “wearing a tunic”) climbs a tree in order to get a glimpse of Jesus.
2) Nicodemus rejects Jesus, thinking the cost is too great and leaves with heart that is torn.
Zacchaeus generously offers recompense beyond the expectations of the law. His heart is glad!
3) Nicodemus initiated his meeting with Jesus and left without getting the answer he wanted.
Zacchaeus willingly responded to Jesus’ invitation when told that Jesus needed to stay at his house. I wonder at the audience Jesus had when He got there!
.
I hope that rambling makes sense!
.
I read this in NKJV John MacArthur Study Bible and thought I would share:
“Zacchaeus’ willingness to make restitution was proof that his conversion was genuine. It was the fruit, not the condition, of his salvation. The law required a penalty of one-fifth as restitution for money acquired by fraud (Lev. 6:5; Num. 5:6, 7), so Zacchaeus was doing more than was required. The law required 4-fold restitution only when an animal was stolen and killed (Ex. 22:1). If the animal was found alive, only two-fold restitution was required (Ex. 22:4). But Zacchaeus judged his own crime severely, acknowledging that he was as guilty as the lowest common robber. Since much of his wealth had probably been acquired fraudulently, this was a costly commitment. On top of that, he gave half his goods to the poor. But Zacchaeus had just found incomprehensible spiritual riches and did not mind the loss of material wealth (see notes on 14:28; Matt. 13:44–46). He stands in stark contrast with the rich young ruler in 18:18–24.”
.
Praise God He made a way. As Tina said, and ad our pastor said yesterday- it isn’t easy or “cost free”, but it is the only Way.
.
Love, hugs, and prayers! ❤
.
RHONDA J – I replied to your last comment on my yesterday’s post. ❤
Hope you are feeling better!! The only good thing is it feels SO good when you’re back to normal and makes us more appreciative!!
Good points for the reading!
♥️
I’ve always loved the story of Zachaeus! Since I’ve been tall all my life, I have always thought of him as a cute little old man! But what I love about this story is that Jesus knew his name and saw him! Because I was taller than all the other kids, I always tried to not be noticed and was really good at it but if someone did notice me and call me by name, especially a teacher, it made me feel like I was really seen! That is what Jesus does for us! He sees us and calls us by name and knows and loves us!
I had all 7 grandkids so I didn’t comment any but I did get to read your notes! Praying for all and for lost loved ones.
You asked about my nephew in-law who had the liver transplant. He is doing amazing and is at home! Doctors say he is a a miracle! He shouldn’t have gotten a liver that matched so soon but because he did he was in better health than most people who receive a liver transplant! Thank you for praying and continue to pray!
Cheryl, what great news. I love it when doctors acknowledge miracles. Praying.
Praise God!
And praise God you survived with 7 grandkids! I usually only take 1 at a single time, lol!
“True repentance involves turning away from sin and turning back to God.”
—
I am forever grateful that many years ago, when I was 21 I repented of my backslidden lifestyle and turned back to God. I had been away from Him for 8 years. Eight years of living a sinful life, making bad choices, hanging with the wrong people, and ignoring the conviction of the Holy Spirit…until one day, I could resist Him no more. God stepped in, turned me around and set my feet on the Rock! Psalm 40:1-3 became my anthem. God reached down and grabbed me from my pit of sin and set me on a new path – hallelujah! He not only turned my life around when I repented, He called me to full time ministry — only God!!
—
So thankful today for my salvation. My sinful yet repentant heart gives me hope for my two prodigal sons.
—
What a joy to know God knows us and calls us by name, just as He did Zacchaeus. Zacchaeus whole-heartedly sought Jesus — and found Him!
.
“You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.” Jeremiah 29:13

Happy Monday Sweet She’s!❤️
Amen!! I too…was trying to live in the world and for God. It doesn’t work…He grabbed me and set me on the rock!! Praise God!! I have been a slow, slow work in progress—we must seek him, and not our own agenda for ourselves!! Dead to ourselves…means actual dying of our agendas, living, goals, and looking ahead with Kingdom eyes. It took me a long time to know he must be the Lord of my Life..not just my Savior!!
Zaccheuas transformation was truly remarkable and yes, we know Holy Spirit can indeed do that. There is a part of me however, that wonders if Zaccheuas was blinded by the reality of what he was doing? Possibly really unaware of the shadiness and how corrupt his job was and he actually could not see it for what it was? His actions to get a better view of Jesus, to see the man everyone was talking about indicate that He was looking for more. Was he just caught up in doing his job tasks, not fully able to recognize it for what it was, and underneath knew there was more? Regardless, the interaction was life changing for Zaccheuas, and in no way do I suggest to diminish the moving of Holy Spirit but, today I feel a little more open to slow my jump on his character and his heart and reminded that Jesus. Changes. Everything.
He always knows our name, can pick us out of a crowd, we are not hidden from Him. I don’t need a sign. Just a seeking, open, willing heart that looks for Him. Thank you Lord. Help us long to see you today.
It has been 3 weeks since my brother’s passing and already I see God on the move. I have a large extended family, with many cousins who are more like siblings, none are believers. We had my brother’s celebration of life at our church where they noticed something “different” than what they have seen before. My cousin Brett (only 32) mentioned that he was interested in learning more about God that day and I invited him to church. He came yesterday and loved it! Like Zacchaeus, he took the first step and climbed the tree to get a closer look at Jesus. The message was timely for him as he is struggling in many areas of his life. Now he wants to bring his siblings! My pastor always says “God doesn’t waste pain” – but we have to be willing to keep our eyes open! Have a blessed days ladies.
Amazing Tami, thank you for sharing!
Thank you for sharing!
What a blessing!
❤️
Amazing! Thank you for sharing!❤️
What a wonderful praise, Tami! Continued prayers for more responses like this! ❤
Amazing is the only word that comes to mind, Tami. God is truly bringing good things from the pain of grief.
Amazing…Praise God!
And I love that you pointed out….that Zaccaheus took the first action…climbing up the tree…the Spirit nudged him!! Important lesson today!! I am so proud of you for saying something and inviting!!
Update on my Nephew. He is out of jail on bond, working with his new lawyer to maybe go to trial against the girlfriend of accusing him of choking her. I text him last night and asked how he is doing. He replied with good, would you want me to call you later!!? I was like…what? You? call me? he laghed and said, yes! I wonder what he was thinking..maybe the letters I sent him encouraging him in the Lord even though he doesn’t believe? I am planting the seeds and hoping they will come to harvest!! Thank you Jesus. (he didn’t call, but..maybe I can keep texting him I am praying for him!)
Thank ya’ll for keeping Christian in your prayers!! I pray he doesn’t go to jail. He has a little girls, my great niece. that is four.
Thank you She’s for your prayers for CP! It means so much to have a community of believers who will approach the throne of God on my behalf.
It sure does! Our “She community” is amazing! Prayer warriors! Encouraging and strengthening sisters in Christ!
This story instantly makes me think of what Kelly said- Sunday school with felt pictures putting Zaccheuas up in a tree to get a glimpse of this Jesus!!! Is He the one?!! I MUST get close! Reminds me of when someone famous comes around, how we get so excited if we get a glance of them, or close enough to be right there with them!! Oh if we knew being in our Bible IS our chance to get the glance, to get next to him, to hear him and see him!!
He calls me by name!! Can you imagine?! Out of the whole crowd…Rhonda…I see you! I want to spend time with you! I want to get to know you, I don’t care that you have been living wrong, in fact, that’s why I’m calling to you!! You are going to be made new today, a new life, a new direction, a turn from the old and seeing Me, Jesus, you Savior and Lord! You, Rhonda, are going to be someone great in my kingdom, come, follow me. Obey and go and tell.
The song by Christian Stanfield is going through my head…”you called my name….and I walked out of that grave!!!”
Glorious Day by Passion (partial lyrics-)
You called my name
And I ran out of that grave
Out of the darkness
Into Your glorious day
You called my name
And I ran out of that grave
Out of the darkness
Into Your glorious day
Now Your mercy has saved my soul
Now Your freedom is all I know
The old made new
Jesus, when I met You
Amen Rhonda! Last night an influencer from “Love Island” was at a restaurant next to my house and all the young people got dressed in their best to get a picture with her or just a glimpse of her. I love how you said that being in our Bible gives us a glimpse of Jesus. That changes the way I think about reading the Bible. Lord give us all glimpses of you as we read and study YOUR word. Amen!
We sing that song at church.
I often think of the time my mom took us to a mall in Baton Rouge to see the 2 female stars of an Elvis movie that was being filmed nearby. Of course, we were disappointed not to see him, but we saw the gold Cadillac featured in the movie. Lol Crazy!
.
I saw your last reply to my comment from yesterday and responded this morning. ❤
❤️
My neighbor recently paid a lot of money to go see a well known pop star who is famous for a song ” Say my name.” He had a front row seat and he had made a huge sign ,” Say my name: Connor!” His concert date caught this moment on video. When the pop star walks on stage, she says, ” Connor!”
In my imagination,I think Jesus is somewhat amused by the little man in the tree. That moment when Jesus said,”Zacchaeus…” Zacchaeus did not even have to hold up a sign!
The presence of Jesus is transformative. Jesus did not have to tell him beat him up or convince him he was a sinner.
Update: The new guy turned out to be a false alarm. I have only known him for three weeks. Last week I started to get a really bad and oppressive feeling about this whole thing. He wants me to ” help” him get his green card. This would mean agreeing to financially support him as a sponsor. He said I would not not have to financially support him but his attorney needs my income tax records and credit report. I don’t know this man. I am not doing this for someone I like just met. It is disappointing.
I want Jesus at my house!
Tanya, I’m sorry for the disappointment, but am grateful for your discernment!
!!!!!!!! Discernment!!! Amen!!!!!
I praise God for the Holy Spirit.
Thank you, Sandi. God is so good.
I’m sorry Tanya but thankful you see the writing on the wall!
I appreciate that, Tami.
Sorry to hear that, but yeah, glad you had the correct discernment!! I was just talking to someone at church yesterday of how I back then I was teaching Sunday school and in small group and at the same time trying to find “my future husband” on my own. Leading to, over and over, bad decisions and regrets. I was living for God, yet for myself as well. I couldn’t lay down my flesh. Oh how hard it is. We have to have Kingdom eyes, and not our own eyes for what we want. God knows what we need more than we do!! I wish I would have waited on his timing. We will keep praying for you and add you with our other little sisters for the right man. (Taylor, Michelle P, Kimberly Z, Jen B, and Sarah H.)
Rhonda J! Keep me on that list. I appreciate those prayers. I am glad I found out early enough to disengage myself. The dark oppresive feeling that over me concerning this not good. Whenever I get this feeling about something it is a signal that something terrible is about to happen.
Praising true colors were shown early, Tanya – red lights flashing and alarms ringing. I would have to think twice – at least – about agreeing to do that for even my closest friend or relative. And wow, tax returns and credit report?! Someone could wreak havoc with your finances and credit with all that info.
Even for a close friend and relative it is a big ask ! I know nothing about this man. He could have a wife and children. He could be here hiding and signing something for him could put my life in jeporady. I watch way too many shows about drug lords, cartels and mob stuff.
Oh, Tanya. I’m so sorry for the disappointment AND so so grateful that this was revealed before more time/emotion was invested. And goodness. What an ask of a virtual stranger. Hear all of us behind you, on your side, agreeing that you are doing the right thing to say “absolutely not.” Praying for your heart this morning. ❤️
Also, just in case there is even a smidgeon of doubt in your mind, out of curiosity I read a little bit about what it means to sponsor someone for a green card: “The sponsor, signs a legally binding Affidavit of Support (Form I-864) to ensure the sponsored immigrant doesn’t rely on public benefits. This commitment is a legal contract, and the sponsor may be held liable if the immigrant requires public assistance.” There was more that made my eyes widen, but just that is terrifying and all the more confirms that you are making the right choice!
Rachel, this is exactly what I needed to hear. Thank you for the second comment you made about what that sponsorship entails. I really do appreciate you sharing that. I am grateful for the she prayers this morning!
❤
Tanya, I praise God you truly has discernment in this situation. Run, dont walk, away from that guy! I wish I had listened to God’s warning signs when I was looking for “the one. ” His timing is always perfect.
Tanya, I am so thankful your heart did not deceive you in this situation and that God protected you! Though this experience is disappointing, at least your finances are intact. ❤ Hugs little sis!
We hide in the crowd, weighed down by our past, unsure of where we fit in with God. Jesus sees us. He knows our name – and He still says to us “I must stay at your house today”!
–
Jesus seeks us out, not because we are perfect, but, because we are His.
–
Is there a change God is prompting in me?
–
Jesus, thank you for seeing me, even when I feel invisible. Let your grace change me from the inside out. I want to follow You, not just in word, but in how I live each day. Amen.
This touches my ❤️… Thanks, Kimberly… SO insightful, and beautifully expressed.
❤
Jesus let me always want to just see you as much as Zacchaeus. Please remind me Holy Spirit that You know my name. In Jesus name, Amen
❤
May we hear God’s voice the loudest as the definition of who we are, putting on the belt of truth Ephesians 6:14. Thank you Lord for seeing, knowing and loving me.
❤️
Jesus knows my name.
So beautiful. He know my name too!!✨✨✨
Mine too!
Zacchaeus was what I call a curious seeker, wanting to know who and what this Jesus was, why all the attention? Praying for the seekers, the curious seekers, the prodigals and the lost. RHONDA J said yesterday “people wondering aimlessly without Jesus. Even the ones that go to church, they only have a surface idea of God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit.” I pray for those I know that seem to fall into this category (seem to, because only God knows their hearts), that hearts and minds would be open, that they would draw near to the Lord.
.
And going against the grain – I’m not convinced that Zacchaeus was greedy and corrupt. That was the reputation for tax collectors, same as now. Certainly there is corruption, but it’s not 100% of the profession. By saying he would give away half of his possessions to the poor, and repay fourfold if he had cheated anyone – that reads to me like he has a quite a bit of confidence in the integrity with which he has conducted business.
.
CEE GEE glad you are feeling better ❤️
I’ve thought that too because of the “if”
I appreciate this insight. I always assumed he was greedy and corrupt, but you are right, looking back on the text, it just says that he was the chief tax collector and he was rich. You made an excellent point that if he had cheated lots of people, he would be out a lot of money paying back 4-fold.
We can so easily fall into stereo-types and assumptions, based on profession or looks or situations. Jesus looks past all of these things and sees the person and calls us each by name.
Thanks, SEARCHING! ❤❤❤
.
Yes, I lean toward the ‘reputation’ associated with tax collectors being the reason Z is so despised- the main reason is what KELLY said, “If”.
.
I just love this kind of chat! Thanks for mentioning it as I was planning to! ❤
.
I
I might be mistaken, but according to all the Bible tells us about tax collectors, being an honest tax collector would be an oxymoron. The only way they could get rich was through extortion and over-charging. They were working for Rome against their own countrymen. They would essentially bid on how much they could raise for Rome and whatever they collected over the bid was their salary. So maybe he wasn’t the worst, but I’m not convinced he was pure as the driven snow ;) (and yet Jesus sought him out and called him by name. Amazing grace).
Before Jesus went to his home, Zacchaeus, at first sight, repented and offered restitution to those he extorted. Perhaps he had already heard Jesus teach and was convicted?Or had carried guilt for his business dealings? Or, hearing Jesus call him by name opened his heart to living up to his name, and starting to live the pure life.
I found it interesting that his name means “pure” as well.
Amen ✝️
Amen!
I did not go to Sunday school as a child, learning these accounts via flannelgraphs and songs. So reading about Zacchaeus as a young adult, it struck me how humbling it must of been for a man of Zacchaeus’ status and wealth to climb the tree. It surely could not have been done in a dignified manner, especially in a tunic!
Anyway, doing so just “to see who Jesus was,” was his first step in turning from his pride and sin.
.
Then as only Jesus can do, He called Zacchaeus down from his self-made “high place” and raised him up as a son of Abraham worthy of sitting in the “high place” with the Son of Man. ❤️
.
TARA B, CAROL J, and all long for their children to return to Jesus – praying with you that they hear Jesus calling their names
Thank you for this kelly. Really good insights
Wow, great point. The dignified and wealthy tax collector climbing a tree. I’m sure peole were shocked and probably mocked him.
Yet, as Tina talked about, the “climb” to find Jesus is always worth the cost. Good reminder.
Yes! Thank you, Dear Kelly!
“in a tunic” lol
Amen!
…Kelly you asked the other day for an update on the mom & baby whom I hoped to have a conversation with — she wasn’t able to meet up with me the week I called her, the next Sunday I was in the nursery & missed her and then they were away – so long answer to your question, I haven’t had an opportunity yet. Thanks for praying and for asking!
❤
I don’t know if I’ve told this story before, but some years ago I did the Alpha course, a course designed for those asking questions about Jesus. Who He was etc..
At around week 6, there would be deep conversations about the Holy Spirit and then a special day away to hopefully experience the Holy Spirit..
I went along, and paid a LARGE car parking fee for the day and as I walked into the hall I met a young man to whom I had a little moan about how this finding God thing was costly, referring to the parking.
After lunch the organisers introduced THE young man as the speaker.
He began his talk by saying.. ” Recently, I met a lady who said this finding God thing is costly..”
.
I tell you this for a smile, but also to reiterate what the writer is saying, it is costly, there are people you knew thst will have to be released, sidelined, there are habits that will need to be stopped, things you’ve done for years, mine was at coffee break with work colleagues, reading the horoscopes.. a small thing secularly, but actually very huge in the kingdom..
Oh don’t hear me wrongly, there was much, much I had to rethink, oh goodness, much.. but I can honestly say, I would not go back to anything I’ve in changed in my walk with jesus; but I would be and am open to more change if I would be more like Jesus..
.
Something else I was thinking, Zacchaeus, though he was dishonest and approached life from an angle not God led, I would imagine he still lived life looking forward to the Messiah coming.. as was the nature of most of the people of that time.. so when he heard of a man doing this, that and the other, of course there was curiosity, but i think he silently had hope, with each climb of that tree his heart pounding in hope that the Saviour was here.. he was not disappointed, not one bit.. that Jesus called him by name.. for sure a beautiful start..
Looking for Jesus.
.
Finding Jesus.
.
Meeting Jesus.
.
Knowing Jesus..
.
Definitely worth the climb and the cost..
.
He is everything we need.. everything!
.
Amen..
.
Happy Monday my dears.. covered in much much love and prayers..❤️❤️

This is so good! Thank you!
Great story. Thanks for sharing!
Beautiful thoughts Tina!! May the day bring you and al of our loved ones closer to climbing and jumping for you at the name of Jesus!!✨✨✨
Appreciate your thoughts. Thank you for sharing❤️
Such great points! And as an avid rock climber, I love the climbing analogy!
Eyes opened, letting go ❤️
And no, I don’t recall you sharing this story, which chapter will it be in?!
Amen!❤️
❤❤❤
Beautiful Tina! I had never heard of Alpha until this year ! I’m reading the Bible through with Nicki and Pippa Gumbel!
Love this!
Definitely worth the cost!

I DO remember this story!! It is funny..being called out (anonymously though), but wow….it would have been- whoa! It like a child when you mom catches you doing something. Guilt first…but than understanding.
Oh Tina, I remember years ago I used to read my horoscope daily. One day after “getting a glimpse of Jesus” during my devotional time, I was convicted of not reading my horoscope. It’s like I heard Jesus say, “why are you putting your faith in that instead of me.” I never read my horoscope again.
