Romans 15:4

Scripture is God breathed and true. When we memorize it, we carry the good news of Jesus with us wherever we go.

During this study, we are memorizing Romans 15:4. See if you can fill in the blanks from the portion you’ve already memorized, and feel free to look back at the verse if you need help.

For whatever was ________ in the _____ was written __ our ________, so that we may have hope through endurance and through the encouragement from the Scriptures.
—Romans 15:4

….was written for our instruction,… When we don’t have answers let us turn to the WORD, come here, call a godly friend or parent who will point us “back” to the WORD to help us “remember” OUR God never fails. Sweet She’s thank you for praying for an unspoken major prayer request (little over 4 weeks). It was hard. BUT God is good and will always be good!

    1. Rhonda J. says:

Yes, the word is for our good in all situations! It is our bread, our nutrients, our knowledge, our encouragement, our strengthening…our LIVING Hope! Our living Water!
We should be set apart and different!! Our message at church today was just that!! It was so fitting! I had before service been discussing with someone HOW I could have been doing both—living sinfully all week but teaching and preaching to the kids on Sunday morning. And the pastor answered…because my vision was on MYSELF except on Sundays. Ooomph. I was not in scripture, never read my bible..except a devotional or something. How can we be Christ followers without his word and scripture and boundaries. He has our best, for those who love him. We are his children and need to obey.

  7. Annie says:

It means so much to us to be prayed for. Thank you, Shes! Praying for you all as well. Have a blessed Sunday.

Really hoping for a meet-up! Any thoughts there? We are in TX.

    Romans 15:2
We should help others do what is right and build them up in the Lord.
3 For even Christ didn’t live to please himself. As the Scriptures say, “The insults of those who insult you, O God, have fallen on me.”
4 Such things were written in the Scriptures long ago to teach us. And the Scriptures give us hope and encouragement as we wait patiently for God’s promises to be fulfilled….
10 And in another place it is written,

    “Rejoice with his people,
    you Gentiles.”[d]

    11 And yet again,

“Praise the Lord, all you Gentiles.
Praise him, all you people of the earth.”[e]

12 And in another place Isaiah said,

“The heir to David’s throne[f] will come,
and he will rule over the Gentiles.
They will place their hope on him.”[g]

13 I pray that God, the source of hope, will fill you completely with joy and peace because you trust in him. Then you will overflow with confident hope through the power of the Holy Spirit.
    .
“Without the clear and certain promises of the Word of God, the believer has no basis for hope (cf. Ps. 119:81, 114; Eph. 2:12; Jer. 14:8).” – NKJV John MacArthur Study Bible, 2nd Edition

Love, hugs, and prayers! Thanks again for your prayers! I feel an improvement this morning and pray it continues! ❤

          1. Cee Gee says:

Lol.. I thought about you a lot and wondered if we had the same sickness but not from catching it from you. (Smiley)
Yes, the good feeling of feelin’ good!!! ❤

Glad you are back to full speed!

  10. Sharon Jersey Girl says:

God gave us the word for instruction & for hope. Why is it that we think we know a better way?
    .
Praying this morning for all gospel, preaching churches, that they will stand firm on the truth of God‘s word and not compromise to the ways of the world. That they will not be accepting of sin and the lifestyles chosen in sin, but will continue, preaching the word and loving the sinner, and being the gospel light that God intended us all to be.
    .
Have a blessed Lords day, sweet sisters!

    1. Cee Gee says:

Amen, Sharon! Your comment kind of reflects my prayer for Kelly’s church today. ❤

    2. Wendy B says:

      Amen❤️

    3. AZ Walker says:

Praying along with you Sharon and warriors that our churches firmly teach the word of God and that the foundation laid out for the prodigals will root them home and turn from any worldly sins and lies. The church I attend is in between pastors too and the call team is taking their time to find a good fit for us and I am grateful for that.

      1. Rhonda J. says:

        Prayer for your church!!!

      2. Sharon Jersey Girl says:

Prayers for wisdom and guidance for the team & that God sends the perfect fit for your church!

    4. Rhonda J. says:

Yes, so in agreement!! We need to identify that our church isn’t just talking to itching ears…and bending to the world!! Stand strong in the inherent word of God only!! He is Lord, and his word is truth…even when it goes agst culture!!

      1. Sharon Jersey Girl says:

Yes He is Lord & His word is truth! I hate it when Christians call other Christians uncaring & judgmental, because they stand firm on the word of God. And they lump all other Christian’s in with the judgmental. All it does is divide us instead of unite us in Christ…and what must that look like to the unsaved world.

  11. Rhonda J. says:

I often wonder where I would be without the instruction and truth in scripture. But the answer is easy…because we see it revealed in all of the world around us, people wondering aimlessly without Jesus. Even the ones that go to church, they only have a surface idea of God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit. For our bread and nutrients comes from the word. Our armor comes from the word. Our relationship with God Almighty comes from the word. We can’t grow and flourish without it. I am amazed of how many professing Christians don’t read the Bible on their own. Or only daily, feel good devotionals. But I was one too.
I had never read the Bible on my own. I tell in every group that it wasn’t until my mother died in 2014 that I thought on her wisdom and love for God because it was so evident, and I saw that she read her Bible every morning. God was showing the importance, and so I started. I fortunately found SRT shortly after!! And I have been here every day since. I usually am doing other studies at the same time. It is not until you read your Bible that a relationship truly forms with God/Jesus/Holy Spirit. It continues to reveal more and more, opening our eyes. It is imperative to a Christ-following walk.

The gospel is the truth, and we need to stand firm on it. Don’t water it down to fit our own needs and feelings and those of others. It saddens me to see Christians being wishy washy on abortion. On homosexuality. Marriage. And even male and female are being questioned and transformed!! How have we gotten here? By one compromise at a time. God gives clear boundaries, and Christ-followers will have hope through endurance and encouragement (to stay the race) in the world!! He put everything in the book that we will face, there are no surprises, nothing new under the sun. Don’t be fooled that the things of today are new and we need to be “open” to love people’s lifestyle (sin). We need Christians to love them enough to bring them Jesus. There is restoration, healing, and renewing in Him! Let’s share that boldly and earnestly to the broken and lost.

    1. Cee Gee says:

“Don’t be fooled that the things of today are new…”
      .
      Great points, Rhonda! ❤

  12. Deb says:

“Hope is a golden chord connecting us to Heaven”
A favorite quote of mine from Jesus Calling Devotions.

    1. Cee Gee says:

      Love that! ❤

  13. Aimee D-R says:

Father send the Holy Spirit to our families, freshen our love and knowledge of You almighty God and everlasting loving Father. In Jesus name, Amen

  14. Tara B says:

Praying for your church this morning as you are brought the Word by this candidate! May you all have clarity and discernment.

  15. Tara B says:

Hope. It is needed and a prayer I have. Recently my oldest daughter shared that she doesn’t believe that GOD is the only way. She doesn’t dis-believe in God. But she can’t say the others of the world aren’t right too. She doesn’t care. She doesn’t want to go to Church. She has been home from college since the end of April and has gone with us. But due to work, she hasn’t been on Wednesday evenings or Sunday evenings. How can a child who was raised in a home that went to church, volunteered at church, participated in youth and children’s ministries, even served at a Gospel-Driven Youth camp for an entire summer say that she thinks she has “never believed?” There is more she has shared, but this is the most heartbreaking. My biggest prayer is for her heart of stone to turn to a heart of flesh. Please pray with me that my prodigal daughter will see God, Jesus and feel the Holy Spirit around her and that they would draw her back in. That she would see and know the Jesus of her youth. That she would turn to Him. Being a now single mother of 3 is difficult. But this is my biggest challenge/mountain yet! Lord, You are good. You are faithful. God, turn CP back to You! Where I have failed, forgive me and change my ways. May she see You in me. May she see You in her dad. God please bring strong Christian friends into her life this year in Raleigh. Lord I beg that she is pursued by Your people to include her in church, Bible studies, or just sweet friendship that she can trust. God, I ask these things in Your Holy Name, trusting Your Will be done. In Jesus Name, Amen

    1. Sandi says:

Tara i will pray for your daughter,I know this is heartbreaking ;but God will keep her

      1. Tara B says:

        Thank you, Sandi!

    2. Carol J Mylin says:

Tara… I feel your Pain… our Son, Daughter in law, and daughters(17, 21, 23) all have chosen to walk away from church… say they don’t disbelieve in God… they question much of the Bible… their lives reflect their aimlessness, etc… But God! He alone is able to draw our precious prodigals to Himself!!

    3. Jane K says:

Praying, Tara, for your daughter that she would turn her heart back to the one and only God, Jesus. I’m claiming Proverbs 22:6 for CP. “Train up a child in the way they should go; even when they are old they will not depart from it.”

    4. Rhonda J. says:

A lot of us can relate Tara B! I too have a son raised in church, and although he still says he believes in God, he questions many things in the Bible, and shows by his politics and such that he doesn’t have a firm foundation in the truth. I just pray the Holy Spirit will convict him, and God will bring him into a non-wavering, relationship. I too was a prodigal daughter with a praying mother, and she always said “train a child up in the right way, and they will not depart.” I am trusting in the Lord he holds our children in his hand.

    5. Searching says:

Joining you in praying, Tara, and for other prodigals mentioned. I have seen this same change in a family member after freshman year.

    6. Rachel says:

Remember what Peter said when Jesus asked the twelve disciples if they were going to turn away, too? He said “Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life…” (John 6:68). I am praying for my wanderers that everything they try apart from the Lord will leave them empty and that they will turn back and remember that the Lord is the only one who offers meaning and purpose and LIFE. (But it is heart-crushing that they would choose to walk away. Satan is a bully)❤️

      1. Adrienne says:

        He is a bully!,

      2. Tara B says:

Yes, Rachel! Thank you for this scripture and for your prayers!

      3. Tara B says:

        Thank you, Rachel!

    7. Danielle B says:

Praying with you and the other Shes for CP that her eyes would be open to the truth and she would see the lies that have pulled her away. My sister is also a prodigal. She told our dad she read something that changed her mind on what she learned growing up in the church.

      1. Tara B says:

        Thank you, Danielle B!

    8. Sharon Jersey Girl says:

Praying with you, Tara for your daughter. I ask myself the same questions quite frequently, how could my two sons who were raised in the faith in a ministry home and who at one time when they were little loved Jesus, walk away from that faith? And act as if they have never believed. It breaks my heart. Praying for your daughter, and all the prodigals represented here on SRT.

      1. Tara B says:

Amen and thank you, Jersey Girl!

    9. Cee Gee says:

Praying for CP that she will ‘see evidence’ that will draw her back and increase her faith – a personal touchstone/testimony according to His will that will benefit others. ❤

      1. Tara B says:

Thank you, Cee Gee! All prayers for my family are appreciated (and that doesn’t feel like a strong enough word)

    10. Mari V says:

Oh Tara….praying along side all these beautiful She’s for your daughter.

      1. Tara B says:

Thank you. I am praying for a convicting heart and a turn back to Jesus. She knows. She has participated in Awana from age 2 – 11th grade (we changed curriculums her senior year). Been in our plays, went to camps, youth outings, etc. SHE KNOWS! And I pray that she turns back to Him!

    11. Adrienne says:

      So. Many. Prodigals.
      .
And so many asking why and how that could happen.

    12. Teresa Donley says:

Tara, I’m joining all our SRT sisters in praying for CP to remember the God she loved and served in her younger years. I firmly believe God hears every prayer for all the prodigal children, and will work in their lives to bring them back to him. I pray CP feels His love and hears His voice calling her to Him.

      1. Tara B says:

Your prayer means so much! Thank you.

    13. Lynne from Alabama says:

Praying for CP, dear sister, and for all the prodigals! ❤️

    14. Lisa H says:

Joining you all in prayer for CP and all of our beloved prodigals, including my recent high school graduate. Only difference with mine is, she was always a questioner/skeptic, and now isn’t attending church with us. Praying God brings new people into her life who are strong believers.

  16. Krystyn Carey says:

    Hope!

  17. Kelly (NEO) says:

God in His kindness has not only given us the Bible, but also His indwelling Spirit for our instruction. Lord, help is to obey Your good and just teachings.
    .
    Psalm 1
    1 Blessed is the man
who walks not in the counsel of the wicked,
nor stands in the way of sinners,
    nor sits in the seat of scoffers;
2 but his delight is in the law of the Lord,
and on his law he meditates day and night.

3 He is like a tree
    planted by streams of water
that yields its fruit in its season,
and its leaf does not wither.
In all that he does, he prospers.
4 The wicked are not so,
but are like chaff that the wind drives away.

5 Therefore the wicked will not stand in the judgment,
    nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous;
6 for the Lord knows the way of the righteous,
but the way of the wicked will perish.
    .
Everytime I read this psalm, Kim Hill’s voice is in my head singing it.
    .
Big Sunday at our church today. The candidate for our new lead pastor is preaching.
    .
Be a blessing to someone today.

    1. Searching says:

Praying, Kelly, for clarity as you (and others);listen this morning.
Love your sharing of Sunday Psalms ❤️

    2. Cee Gee says:

Amen, Kelly. Thank you for that reminder about the opportunities He has given us.
      .
I, too, love your Sunday Psalms. ❤
      .
Praying this morning for your church body. Keen ears, open hearts and minds, discerning spirits – not swayed by peer pressure, and for this speaker to be genuine and not overzealous to impress, but focus on preaching Your Truth.
May each vote reflect Your will.

      1. Cee Gee says:

        * Should have read,
“May each vote reflect Your will, Father.”
