Sarah’s story shows there is no time limit on the fruit of our faith—when we are weary, wondering if it’s time to give up on the hope God has laid in our hearts, God reminds us that He has already been faithful to every word and promise He has given by giving us His Son.

What aspects of God’s character stood out to you, challenged you, or encouraged you from today’s reading?

  1. Dannielle Perry says:

    Today’s passage challenged me to wait on the Lord, well.

  2. Michelle Smith says:

    No matter my reaction or how long it seems to take, God will hold true to His word and promises. What seems impossible to me, is very possible with Him

  3. Victoria Castillo says:

    Gods seriousness when he told Sarah that she was laughing, he’s a serious god when it comes to his promises and he always delivers them at the right time.

  4. Stephanie Bryant says:

    That even though we may doubt our faith in God he still does what he says he’s gonna do. He gave Sarah a son and Abraham.

  5. Lindsey Bradley says:

    His invitation to all. He didn’t just count Abraham’s faith as righteousness but extends it to all who believe in Jesus Christ as being the Son of God who died on the cross for our sins, rose from the dead three days later, ascended to the Father, and now sits at His right hand!

  6. Jessie Patterson says:

    God is so faithful, even when we waver in the waiting and doubts creep in. He is able to all He has promised and even more than that. He delights to bless us and fulfil His promises. He is so good to us, even when we aren’t consistently full of faith. Abraham and Sarah both had moments of doubting God and yet He was still faithful to His promises. What an encouraging readingg!

  7. Jacqueline Linton says:

    This is a great reminder of God’s faithfulness and that we need to just fully rely on Him because He can, and will, do great things.

  8. Malykka Oliver says:

    God moved me to get on here and read my devotional and I had fallen behind 5 days. Well oddly enough I had a miscarriage recently. And today of all days we’re reading about Abraham and Sarah. I’m just grateful for who God is.

    1. Mary says:

      Praying for you Malykka. May you feel seen by God today and comforted by His presence. You are not alone.

    2. Danielle Edwards says:

      I’m in the same boat. 38 and found out I was pregnant for the first time, only to miscarry two days later. Now a week later I sit down to read and this is the devotional for the day. I’m grateful to God that he keeps his promises and is always working for our good. No matter what, we are never alone.

  9. Indyia Ford says:

    It stood out to me how Abraham believed but Sarah was skeptical, you would think after they are older they would be on the same page!

  10. Latoddra Mason says:

    Amen

  11. Candyce Abbott says:

    God is faithful and consistent. He fulfills his promise at the exact time that it is meant to happen

  12. Nicole Powell says:

    Even if we forget what we ask God for He doesn’t

  13. Anna Whitt says:

    God is faithful and always keeps his promises!

  14. Melissa Richards says:

    God knows each and everyone of us. He is faithful, and He will show us like He did those in the bible. Pray for hope in Jesus

  15. Amy EB says:

    I wouldn’t have thought of this without listening to the podcast but the phrase “from one as good as dead” stood out to me. From one as good as dead, God brought forth new life and did so in abundance with the number of descendants Abraham and Sarah would have. With Jesus, God also brought new life from death. God can use circumstances that seem hopeless to bring us new hope.

  16. Hannah Mousaw says:

    Sarah’s first laugh may have been more like a “yeah right” kind of scoffing laughter. But after Isaac is born, she laughs again, this time with joy and wonder about the goodness of God.

  17. Sophie M says:

    “ No, but you did though “ after Sarah denies her laughter, made me chuckle. How faithful is our God. I love the story of Sarah and Abraham. It shows Gods miracles do not stop, no matter your age, no matter your circumstance. What can’t God do?

  18. Amber Cleveland says:

    I find it interesting that Sarah tried to lie but God had no rath just promis.

  19. Adrianne says:

    What aspects of God’s character stood out to you, challenged you, or encouraged you from today’s reading?

    What stood out to me is that God had a meal with Abraham. He sat down and rested with Abraham to have a meal and confirm His plan of giving him a child born from Sarah. It’s encouraging because He keeps his promises. He promised that it would happen and He made it so.

    I was challenged (can you really call this being challenged) by God hearing Sarah’s disbelief in giving her a child because it reaffirms that He hears everything and I should stop complaining all the time LOL! He also made sure that she knew He heard her. She wasn’t getting out of that rebuke! And I will say it is so hard when we feel or see or even hear a rebuke from the Lord. When it happens, we know we did wrong big time.

  20. Adrienne Butler says:

    She laughed and denied it. Been there, done that. Thank goodness God is forgiving or I would be in the doghouse more. She got a better reaction from God than Zechariah with the conception of John lol

  21. Catherine McVey says:

    This is from a friend of mine this morning. Thought I would share.

    They say beauty comes from a
    spirit that has weathered many
    hardships in life and somehow
    continues with resilience.
    Grace can be found in a soul
    who ages softly, even amid the tempest.
    I think the loveliest by far,
    is the one whose gentle heart
    bears a hundred scars from caring,
    yet still finds a way to pick up the lamp, one more time,
    to light the way for love.

    FAITH in God may not remove our trials but it gives us strength to move forward and through them.
    Keep the FAITH!
    Add HOPE and whole lot of LOVE!

    1 Corinthians 13:7 “Love never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful, and endures through every circumstance.”

    “Because He bends down to listen, I will pray as long as I have breath!” – Psalm 116:2

    Have a great day!

      That is so lovely, Cathy. Thank you for sharing. I may just copy that!❤️

    3. Traci Gendron says:

      That is so beautiful.

    4. Indiana Elaine says:

      Beautiful indeed! I made a copy. I have a friend that just lost her second child to brain cancer.
      She has had many heartaches and this describes her perfectly.

      1. Rhonda J. says:

        Oh my..that’s horribly sad. Prayers for her and family.

  22. Jennifer Anapol says:

    I love that God sees us and knows us. He knew what Sarah was saying to herself, and he knows our thoughts.

  23. Kristina Finney says:

    No matter what we do God will always have his way

  24. Mercy says:

    Happy Friday, today I was so intrigued by “the oaks of Mamre” where the three men met Abraham. The Bible is full of hidden significance. Mamre, mam’-re (Hebrew)– fully assimilated; well-fed; abundantly supplied; fatness; firmness; virility; vigor; strength. Abram “dwelt by the oaks of Mamre which are in Hebron” (Gen 13:18). I pray that we too will dwell there, that the trinity of Godhead will meet us and our family there, where we will encounter Him face to face. Have a blessed weekend everyone. Remember, He who promised is faithful to fulfil.

    1. Tina says:

      Mercy sending warming weekend love your way..
      Have a great weekend my dear. ❤️

    2. Cee Gee says:

      You, too, Mercy! Very warm here in upstate South Carolina today so, like Tina, sending warm hugs! ❤

    3. Rhonda J. says:

      I was definitely intrequed as well with 3 coming and Abraham feeding them and one being God. I was confused, so is that representing the Trinity? I’ve just never read/studied this I guess.

      Love ya!

      1. Victoria E says:

        Rhonda J I had the same question !

  25. Sharon Jersey Girl says:

    The aspect of God’s character that stood out to me 100% – God is faithful. God always does what He says, you can count on it — whether it’s blessing those He says He will bless, or cursing those He says He will curse – He will do it!
    God can not lie! (Numbers 23:19)
    God always keeps His promises! (Hebrews 10:23; Joshua 21:25; Psalm 105:8)
    God is faithful! (2 Timothy 2:13; 1 Corinthians 1:9)
    ~~~~~~~~~~~
    May you be blessed today in remembering God’s faithfulness, and whatever struggles or trials or waiting that you are going through – remember, He sees, He knows, He always keeps His promises.
    Happy Friday sisters! ❤️ .. last day of our road-trip – 2 hrs & 40 minutes to home – & to seeing my sweet baby granddaughter!!
    1. Tina says:
      Sharon, thst is a welcome home and a half! Give her a hug from across the pond… and take one for yourself!❤️❤️❤️
    2. Cathy McVey says:
      Amen Sharon!! God is always faithful. His timeline is not always our timeline, but He is never late! So happy you were able to go on vacation. Enjoy that sweet grandbaby! Have a great weekend!❤️
    3. Cee Gee says:
      So glad you had a good rest from routine. Give that baby girl another hug from this SC grandma. Great post! ❤
  26. Kris says:
    God’s faithfulness… that’s what stood out to me. Even to the point where Abraham and Sarah’s bodies were “dead”, God came thru. How many promises have I given up on because “death” has occurred? How many things have I stopped believing for because it seems like too much time has passed by? Why am I always in such a hurry to get what I’ve asked for, rather than trusting and waiting for God’s perfect timing?
    1. Searching says:
      So much to think about. Thank you, Kris!
    2. Tina says:
      So very true Kris, the giving up on promises of God, because they did not happen when I wanted them to.. Grrrrr, God’s promise is a promise, faithful and true.
      Amen..❤️
    3. Cee Gee says:
      Wow, that is very challenging, Kris! Distinguishing between actual Promises of God and ‘desires’ of our hearts- a great ponder! ❤
  27. Cee Gee says:
    Thanks to BECKA for introducing me to Red Ricks Worship with the song she shared. I had seen them when scrolling on YouTube but don’t think I have listened to them before. I saw another song by them with very long lyrics. I am just sharing the bridge, but the whole song is beautiful if you have time:
    [Bridge]
    So bring on the waves
    I’m loved by the One who anchors me
    No fear of the grave
    I walk with the King of victory
    So bring on the waves
    I’m loved by the One who anchors me
    No fear of the grave
    I walk with the King of victory, yeah
    Whatever it looks like
    Oh, bring it on, bring it on
    So bring on the waves
    ~~~~~~~~~~
    We are LOVED by the ONE Who anchors us!
    We walk with the KING of VICTORY!

    1. Tina says:

      We are loved! Oh Cee-Gee that really warms my heart..❤️

      1. Cee Gee says:

        ❤❤❤

  28. Holly Stokes says:

    I am reminded that God’s promises are yes and amen.
    God saves us when we have faith.
    God LEADS us when we have faith.
    God PROVIDES for us when we have faith.
    God strengthens us when we have faith.
    God frees us when we have faith.

    1. Tina says:

      So true, Holly.❤️

    2. Cathy McVey says:

      Amen!❤️

  29. Kristy says:

    Abraham did not waver in unbelief at God’s promise but was strengthened in his faith. Abraham was fully convinced that what God had promised, he was able to do. I love how intricate scripture is and how it ties together so beautifully and perfectly. Later in Hebrews we are told to be like Abraham. Hold on to the confession of our hope without wavering bc He who promised is faithful.
    Have you guys seen the video of seniors singing the goodness of God? I love that song. In my 39 years of life I can’t help but cry everytime thinking of his faithfulness throughout my life. But listening to these seniors sing it is a whole different level.. they are at the end stage of their life singing it and you know that you know that they mean it with every fiber in their being. YouTube Goodness of God senior adults version. It is so precious! I will try to post below.

  30. Traci Gendron says:

    When Tanner was diagnosed and I was told I would outlive him, I had faith that God would bring a cure. He has somewhat. A stem cell transplant. I don’t know why God chose to take Tanner right at the time of this happening. BUT my faith in Him remained. And it still remains. Without that faith I don’t know how I would have made it through then or now. God is so good. He is love, grace, provision, protector, FAITHFUL, and so much more.

    1. Cee Gee says:

      ❤ amen! You are an inspiration, Traci!

    2. Tami says:

      Amen. Your walk is inspiring. To go through every parent’s worst nightmare and come out on the other side. Praying for you and others here who have been through this. You are inspiring!

      1. Rhonda J. says:

        Yes, agree, amen! She sure is!

    Aspects of God’s character: Faithful, Patient/long-suffering, Creator, Deliverer, Good, Incomprehensible, Loving, Omnipotent, Wise, and Worthy.

    I like the spin SRT put on this! As we study these ‘characters of faith’ we are asked to recognize ‘characteristics of God’! I have a long share today, but I think it wraps up this week of study in a beautiful way.

    NKJV Charles F. Stanley Life Principles Bible Notes (from Biblegateway):
    [As you read Genesis, watch for several life principles that play an important role in this book:

    1. Our intimacy with God — His highest priority for our lives — determines the impact of our lives. See Genesis 1:26; 15:1–6.

    9. Trusting God means looking beyond what we can see to what God sees.
    See Genesis 22:1–14.

    26. Adversity is a bridge to a deeper relationship with God.
    See Genesis 50:20, 21.
    Life Lessons
    17:17 — Then Abraham fell on his face and laughed, and said in his heart, “Shall a child be born to a man who is one hundred years old? And shall Sarah, who is ninety years old, bear a child?”

    God promised Abraham at age 75 (Gen. 12:4) that He would make him into a great nation — and then made him wait a quarter of a century to fulfill that promise. But God acts on behalf of those who wait for Him!
    Answers to Life’s Questions
    How can I be the kind of faithful person God honors?
    Heb. 6:11, 12

    Do you want to see the favor of God blossom in your life? If you do, the writer of Hebrews has some advice for you: “show the same diligence to the full assurance of hope until the end, that you do not become sluggish, but imitate those who through faith and patience inherit the promises”
    (Heb. 6:11, 12).

    The writer has in mind someone like the Old Testament saint Abraham, who displayed great faith and patience. Remember when God called Abraham to leave his homeland for a place unknown? Genesis 12:4 displays Abraham’s (Abram’s) diligence: “So Abram went forth as the Lord had spoken to him.”

    Remember when God told Abraham that he would have a son, even though his wife Sarah was already 90 years old?
    (Gen. 17:17–19). God displayed His faithfulness a year later by giving Isaac to Abraham and Sarah.

    Remember when Abraham heard God tell him to sacrifice the son for whom he had waited 100 years? Abraham faithfully obeyed God — and was blessed for his devotion (Gen. 22:1–18).

    We are to mirror Abraham’s faithfulness. In our attempts to pursue God with diligence, we need to take stock of everything we do:

    Set clear goals. Olympic athletes don’t begin with a vague notion of becoming an Olympian. Each step of the way requires them to work for a faster time, a higher jump, or an improved technique.
    Be patient. When Pablo Casals reached age 95, a young reporter asked him, “Mr. Casals, you are 95 and the greatest cellist that ever lived. Why do you still practice six hours a day?” Casals answered, “Because I think I’m making progress.”
    Be willing to take risks. God asks that we trust Him despite our limited understanding. As the saying goes, a turtle makes progress only when he sticks his neck out.
    Be persistent. If God has given you a clearly defined goal and you sincerely believe it to be His will, don’t let doubt or discouragement defeat you. Keep at it and don’t give up.
    Be flexible. Remember that the process is the greatest learning experience we have. Learn from your mistakes and move on. Flexibility enables you to change as God changes you.
    If you want God to honor you, then be the kind of person who honors Him by consistently acting on your faith.]

    Prayers and hugs to each of you! ❤ Now for my second cup of coffee as I eagerly read your comments! ❤

    1. Mercy says:

      I love these life principles so much. Thank you CEE GEE for sharing! I myself look up to Warren Buffett (the investor genius), and he said his favorite book besides the Bible, is the tortoise and the hare, and he read it to his children and his grands at Xmas. The principle of life he advised (and his investment style for saving for future) is to be the tortoise, always making slow progress, and keep on going, and one day we will get there. He reads six hours a day and doesn’t retire, and is just like the cellist.❤️

      1. Cee Gee says:

        ❤ I actually saw a turtle crossing the road this week and thought about it when I read those notes it had its head up and looked very determined to get to the shoulder of the road! I had a boss who was a millionaire. He practiced like Buffet. Thanks for sharing that! ❤

    2. Tina says:

      I love this list! Definitely food for thought, and a few notes taken. Thank you Cee Gee.❤️

      1. Cee Gee says:

        Most welcome, Tina! ❤

  32. Lara M says:

    Wow. If God did not hold Abraham & Sarah’s seemingly more frequent disbelief and doubt against them, surely He does not hold ours against us. The smallest amount of faith He can use for His glory and purposes. Hebrews 10:23 is for sure a verse to stand upon!

    1. Cee Gee says:

      ❤ assurance!

    2. Tina says:

      The smallest amount of faith, He can use for His glory and purpose.. Amen.
      Thank you, Laura❤️

  33. Brenda Pozarnsky says:

    19 Without becoming weak in faith he contemplated his own body, now as good as dead since he was about a hundred years old, and the deadness of Sarah’s womb;
    20 yet, with respect to the promise of God, he did not waver in unbelief but grew strong in faith, giving glory to God,
    21 and being fully assured that what God had promised, He was able also to perform. Considering and truthfully expressing our thoughts to God about His plan does not displease Him, when brought to Him can create more belief.

  34. Michelle P says:

    I was reading the Enduring Word commentary for Genesis 17 (when the Lord repeated that Sarah would have a son to Abraham) which read: “Like Abraham, we need to hear God’s promises over and over again.”

    Isn’t that true? It is good to hear things repeated. It’s God saying, “I am still listening. I am still faithful. Trust me.”

    Then look at Genesis 21:1
    “And the Lord visited Sarah, as He had said, and the Lord did for Sarah as He had spoken.”

    As He had said!!!!
    The Lord did as He had spoken!!!

    Lord God You are faithful, when we are lacking faith.

    @Kimberly Z, I went back to your comment yesterday and am praying you and anyone else struggling in a waiting season would hold onto Jesus and ask Him to strengthen their faith… to repeat His promises and give you eyes to see beyond your circumstances. I pray that you would see God’s kindness and love for you so personally and deeply you would trust Him with the things that don’t make sense to you. I’m praying that bc I’m doing just that, as well. It is hard to wait but if we have Jesus, we can feel so seen and loved in the waiting of His promises. He is there in the thick of it, holding our hands and keeping our heads up. God bless you, sisters, and love you so much ❤️ keep your heads up towards Christ who sees you and values you more precious than diamonds and rubies.

    1. Cee Gee says:

      ❤ love you, lil sis!

      1. Michelle P says:

        Love you!!!! ❤️

      1. Michelle P says:

        ❤️

    2. Cathy McVey says:

      Great post Michelle! Your words reminded me of a time after my stem cell transplant this spring when I felt like God audibly spoke to me. The doctors were watching my lab results very closely every day to make sure things were improving. At this point we had already been there 4 weeks and I wanted to go home so badly. My platelet count was low and they wanted to give me a transfusion. I asked if that would cause a setback that would prevent me from going home on time. Yes, by a whole week. I bargained with them to let me go one more day and if my platelets fell, they could tranfuse me. They were at 11,000. I prayed and prayed and begged God to let them stay at 11,000. The nurse said “no one get’s out of here without at transfusion”. Well the next day my platelets were still 11,000. I did not get a transfusion but on my way back to the car I was talking to my husband and frustrated that they hadn’t increased. I got in the car and heard God “say” to me “what did you want”. It was like He was right there. I had beggd him to let them stay at 11,000. He did what I asked! God is faithful in all things. Even when we forget what we asked for . The next day and every day after that my platelets started to rise. I ended up going home a few days earlier that was scheduled. God is good, all the time!

      1. Cee Gee says:

        Wow, Cathy! ❤ What a testimony!

      2. Michelle P says:

        Wow. Thank you for sharing that. There have been times I felt God say specific things to me, as well. I’m so thankful you had that experience and could share it with us. It reminds me of specific ways God has answered prayers for me, too.

        1. Michelle P says:

          God bless you Cathy ❤️❤️❤️

      3. Rhonda J. says:

        Love that Catherine!! What a testimony…so many!

      4. DW says:

        Great testimony and reminder to be thankful for his answers. Reminded of the “one” who comes back to Jesus and thanks Him. So cool God audibly reminded you of his answers and faithfulness and you responded! Thank you for sharing!

      5. Cheryl Read says:

        Amen, God is good all the time! I needed that reminder.

  35. Brenda Pozarnsky says:

    Gen 18:13 13 And the LORD said to Abraham, “Why did Sarah laugh, saying, ‘Shall I indeed fnbear a child, when I am so old?’ Almost seemed like a rebuke to Abraham about not sharing this with his wife, even after he had also laughed when he heard the news, totally different context than most sermons present this text…..

  36. Jackie Tuckerman says:

    Let us hold tightly without wavering to the Hope we profess for promised is faithful! Hebrew 10:23.
    This is so encouraging and such a reminder that He is always faithful. Just not on my timeline.

  37. Annie says:

    We can hold on to God and His promises no matter the circumstances we find ourselves in or the timing we see from our perspectives because God is faithful and keeps His promises.

    He works all things together for good for those who love Him (Romans 8:28). In my view good here is the the ultimate good of being close to God, not necessarily the “good” we may see from a worldly perspective.

  38. Amanda Biamonte says:

    God is faithful to provide for me in my day to day because He gave the ultimate provision of Jesus. The assurance that nothing of this earth can threaten me because my salvation is sealed! Thank you, God!

    1. Cee Gee says:

      Amen! ❤ “safe and secure from all alarms” – Leaning on the Everlasting Arms hymn.

  39. Mari V says:

    HE remains FAITHFUL!! I’m repeating myself, but its OK. HE is faithful even when we are not! He loves us beyond measure and wants the BEST for His children. The waiting “is” hard just as Sarah and Abraham experienced. Its the same today. But our daddy knows BEST and we wait for His perfect timing. Happy FRIDAY sweet She’s! I am SO glad its Friday (my favorite day of the week), as tomorrow I can sleep-in just a tad (7:00 AM (ish) vs 5:00 AM). Looking forward to a Throw-Down event watching my son participate in a Latte Art competition “just-for-fun” involving all the local coffee shops in our area. Oh…the little things my Jesus gives me for pleasure.

    1. Cee Gee says:

      Sounds like a great weekend! Mine will involve lots of work at church! ❤

    2. Tina says:

      Latte art?
      Mari, is your son a barista?
      Have a great weekend my dear. ❤️

  40. Jenn Lundblad says:

    He gives us the power to do unimaginable. He blesses us beyond measure.

    “Let us hold tightly without wavering to the hope we affirm, for God can be trusted to keep his promise.”
    ‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭10‬:‭23‬ ‭

  41. Maria Baer says:

    Today’s scripture always puts a focus on light on how I can be like Sarah— not necessarily being in disbelief, but more like having a “sure, I will humor you” attitude, almost amused. And I can see myself in her. But truly, when I think about it, God’s promise to Abraham and Sarah, is a testament to their enduring faith and hope during the long season of waiting for His promise to be fulfilled.

    Also, wanted to take a moment to thank you all for your prayers and encouraging messages. It was such a busy day with the people doing the clean up of the house, plus I am back to work, but last night I read all of your comments— THANK YOU.

    KERRY ROWLEY: you made a sweet comment “Praying that you will feel that this group is a type of home for you.” Sweet sister— yes, it does. More than you know. As I read each comment, I thought “I love my sisters in Christ!” You are my family too! Bless you all.

    1. Cee Gee says:

      Yes, we are family – part of the bigger ‘family of God’! I am glad you made it through the cleanup leg of this journey and really glad you are back at work! Little steps on a long journey but thankfully you have God and this entourage walking with you! ❤ continued prayers!

    2. Leslie Littleton says:

      Continued prayers Maria ❤️

    3. Tina says:

      Continued prayers Maria.. much love..❤️

  42. Carla says:

    There is no limit to what God can do! He is faithful to do what He promises.
    Thank you for praying for my grandson yesterday. The egg allergy test went very well and it shows he may be growing out of the allergy. Dean DID eat the muffin and so far hasn’t shown any bad side affects from it. God answered my prayers. Thank you again for joining me in praying for him.

  43. Kimberly Reed says:

    I find some things have easy faith and others hard faith. The stretching is different depending on the answer I’m waiting for. But God works it all out. Always. I’m thankful he can laugh with me or at me and also thankful he patiently waits on my ability to flex as He requires me to do so.

  44. Jody Striker says:

    I love how God included Sarah in the invitation to faith. He came to meet with Abraham, but He wanted to meet with Sarah too. He knew she was listening and He spoke right to her. She didn’t respond well because of fear, but she had the next year to walk the journey of faith that God had set before her and be transformed.

  45. Erica Chiarelli says:

    God gave Abraham multiple faith build ups. He told him many times His promise, to remind him and help his faith not waver. ❤️❤️

  46. Laura says:

    What stood out to me was how faith was such a crucial part to this story as it was illustrating God’s plan for humanity. At this point, God had given them the Law, with its sacrificial system to cleanse sin, but Abraham and Sarah illustrate the power and importance of FAITH (even faith as small as a mustard seed). The passage in Romans 4 really made that clear to me as I read God’s Word. It is by faith we are saved. Way back with Abraham and Sarah He is already showing His people that Faith is what is needed. The Law is what we DO but Faith is what we HAVE.

    Ladies, I am so blessed by your comments. I am reading them the next day, so I don’t comment on them, but there is so much insight and wisdom shared here. And so much love and care for each other. It fills my heart every morning when I go back first to read the comments from the day before. Love this community so much!

    1. Cee Gee says:

      ❤ I feel the same way! This time -many days – is the best part of my day!

    2. Sharon Jersey Girl says:

      Same here! ❤️

    3. Margaret W. says:

      “The Law is what we DO, but Faith is what we HAVE.” I ❤️ this. Thank you for sharing.

  47. Mari G says:

    Faith during the waiting….and Abraham and Sarah waited a long time. My family is currently waiting to hear about college applications for my daughter. Her friends are starting to receive acceptance letters and her inbox is empty. My prayer for her is to have faith in the waiting. Knowing that God’s plan is always better.

  48. Ariadne T says:

    God’s ability to call you out for your doubt and disbelief spoke to me today. God will provide us a promise but we don’t believe and like Sarah sometimes even laugh or scoff at the promise. God called her out and she lied, but He’s so faithful that the promise came to be regardless of her doubt. God’s faithfulness also sticks out today. His word will not return void truly.

    1. Cee Gee says:

      Good point, Ariadne! Our lack of belief/ faithfulness does not change/diminish God’s power or faithfulness! ❤

  49. Aimee D-R says:

    That he heard Abraham and blessed Ishmael even though Isaac would gain the covenant. He hears and answers.

  50. Danielle B says:

    So many reminders this week that if God promises it, it will happen in His timing. It is so easy to get excited about the promises He gives while also becoming inpatient waiting for it to be fulfilled! He is faithful, I’m the one that wavers.

  51. Kristin Palmer says:

    Sorry, I accidentally hit post before I was finished typing!

    I was encouraged by God’s omniscience in today’s passage. Even though Sarah laughed to herself when she overheard the Lord say that she would conceive a son through Abraham, God knew what she was thinking and He calls her out on it. I want to have that kind of relationship with the Lord – one in which He can call me out on my unbelief like He did with Sarah. What a great reminder this passage is of God’s all-knowing nature and that fact that nothing is hidden from Him.

  52. Searching says:

    God is faithful, always. Even when our patience lags and we make a mess of things trying to force God’s promises in our own time and way – as did Sarah (Ishmael). God still, always, makes a way. He knows us inside and out, never think we have “slipped” something by Him (to Sarah, yes you did laugh). His love for us never wavers and His promises are kept. How awesome is our God!

    Notice that the Lord and the 2 with Him ate the food prepared for them? Practice hospitality. Even as God appeared as a man, Abraham walked closely with God and recognized Him immediately. It is thought that the 2 with God may have been the 2 angels that warned Lot later in this chapter.

    And let’s pray for all churches in these trying times

    MERCY ❤️

      ❤ Amen to all you said and to these prayers! Love you, sister, for your faithfulness in sharing the ponderings of your heart!

  53. Kristin Palmer says:

  54. Erin R says:

    He is faithful and is able to do whatever he promises.

  55. Lanie H says:

    I love that it says “since she considered” she didn’t believe with all her heart, but God who knows the heart knew with a smidgen of her heart she believed, and he was faithful. The devil lies to me all the time, that my prayers don’t get answered bc I don’t have enough faith. This story really broke me free of that lie a long time ago.

    She’s! Your prayers from yesterday have me in a crying mess today. And it reminds me that my prayers don’t have to be so strong bc I have a lot of strong women sending up prayers in my behalf. It was humbling to see Kimberly Zs request and remembering the long time I prayed for this moment, Lynne from AL and Maria knowing y’all are in a totally different (much harder) battle, and Grammiesue, yours especially made me cry bc I KNOW that hard truth about our God. I can not get what I want AND it’s still good. And everything will be ok. And Sharon from Jersey, your comment about the butterfly made me wonder, should I try and make her flip? What if she’s building her strength in there like the caterpillar! Like many of you suggested I am doing the inversion exercises, but pray for me about clarity around the ECV. I have having second thoughts wondering if maybe she just needs more time. Unfortunately if I don’t due it, the doctor doesn’t give you more time, you are scheduled for a c section, so I don’t know..

    1. Searching says:

      Praying, LANIE ❤️

    2. Kim Mullins says:

      praying for you today Lanie

    3. Jane K says:

      Praying for your baby girl and for you.

    4. Cee Gee says:

      Oh, Lanie, praying for wisdom, sweet mama! I was in Easley yesterday and kept thinking about you – if only I could sit down with you and pray and offer encouragement in person! Maybe one day!❤

      1. Lanie H says:

        Cee gee! Stay tuned, I am picking up a few patients in Anderson in the coming weeks so I don’t have to start any new cases in Greenville

    5. Sharon Jersey Girl says:

      Lanie – continued prayers that baby girl will flip, if not in time for the scan – in time for the birth! May God’s perfect timing & will be done! ❤️

    6. Margaret W. says:

      But do you have to consent to the C-section? I know it is the safest option nowadays because doctors don’t have experience delivering breeches (sadly), but you may be able to bargain for a tiny bit more time. Ask lots of questions and educate yourself about your options. And pray! Dear Father, give this mama and her family and her health care team wisdom to know what is best for this precious little one who you are bringing into the world so very soon. May your will be done. Amen.

      1. Lanie H says:

        Thank you Margaret, my best friend said the same thing! Something to ask about for sure

      2. Cee Gee says:

        Amen, Margaret! I was thinking about that, too! ❤

  56. Becka says:

    “By faith, EVEN Sarah herself…”

    She had little hope. She thought her time had passed. She laughed when God said in a year’s time she would have a son.
    EVEN Sarah, who couldn’t fathom the possibility of this promise being fulfilled, received His power. It seemed impossible, but God.

    If He says it, He will do it.

    He is faithful beyond our human comprehension. Every promise has already been fulfilled through the gift of His Son.

    This morning, the song “there’s no way” by Red Rocks Worship is on my heart.
    “There’s no way, no way You’re going to let me down.
    You never have, never will and You won’t start now.
    There’s no way, no way Your promise can fail.
    It never has, never once and it never will”

    I’m so encouraged that even Sarah, who in her humanness I’m sure wondered if it was time to give up on the hope God laid in her heart, not only was given power to conceive in impossible circumstances but made the Hall of Faith!

    I will rest in the truth that is there is no time limit on the fruit of our faith. ♥️

    1. Cee Gee says:

      Becka, thanks for ‘introducing me’ to another great song and band! I saw one by them that I am going to share! ❤

  57. Kelly (NEO) says:

    “Is anything impossible for the Lord?”
    .
    This reminded me of what Jesus said to Martha before raising Lazarus back to life. Sarah’s womb was dead and Lazarus was dead in a tomb. Just pondering God’s forshadowing…
    .
    LANIE H – praying for peace of mind about baby girl and your soon-coming delivery.
    .
    CARLA – praying your grandson’s testing went well.

    1. Lanie H says:

      Thank you Kelly!

    2. Anna Faith says:

      Amen

  58. Gretel . says:

    Oh to have a faith and hope like Sarah and fully expect God to keep his promises (even if they seem laughable at first!)

    1. Mary Ann Graves says:

      Amen

  59. Kathy says:

    I love the verse in Genesis 21:1. “The LORD came to Sarah AS HE HAD SAID, and the LORD did for Sara WHAT HE HAD PROMISED.”
    This encourages me and challenges me because to know what He says and what He promises, I need to be so steeped in prayer and in reading His Word that I will be able to hear His voice and then trust Him enough to do what He says.
    Have a blessed weekend, sisters!

    1. Cee Gee says:

      Amen, Kathy! ❤

    2. Sharon Jersey Girl says:

      Yes & Amen! If we are not aware of His promises – how will we know if He’s kept them or not?

  60. Sally B. says:

    Oh what a faithful God we serve!
    Father, help me to not waver in my faith in You, the God who has promised and who gives life to the dead and calls things into existence that do not exist! Amen.
    Friday blessings to you all.

    1. Cat-tee says:

      Amen!

  61. Tina says:

    By faith, EVEN Sarah herself…
    .

    This really struck me as I felt a hope that one, such as myself, an often wandering aging sinner, who loves God, who absolutely loves God, but whose heart sometimes let’s the side down in actions, words and deeds, still had hope!
    I smiled at the ‘even’ part of the verse, Like she had no hope, or better still, she should have had no hope of ever conceiving at her age, well past it, actually the Good book says, ” from one as good as dead”.. Seriously, Even Sarah, whose hopes seemed dashed.. Still got to receive power to conceive.
    I say it often, no matter the journey, the distance run, or the ducking and diving of life and choices, when the Lord God Almighty promises, He is Faithful! Maybe not today, maybe not tomorrow.. BUT soooon in His time, His promises come to fruition.
    .
    So, may it be said of me, one day, “By faith, EVEN Tina, the wayward one, the one who gave God a hard time, received power to be a true woman of God, for God made her truly laugh..
    In joy.
    In hope.
    In freedom.
    In peace.
    In gratitude and thanks giving.
    In praise.
    .
    AMEN.
    .
    BUT GOD..
    .
    Happy Friday my beautiful Shes. I pray God makes you laugh today, as He did Sarah!❤
    Faith in Him can move mountains, as the truth filled song goes..
    Much love, always covered in prayers..❤

    1. Sally B. says:

      Amen and amen!

    2. Kathy says:

      Tina, thank you so much for these words. As a sister “wandering, aging sinner” I needed these words you had to say.

    3. Searching says:

      Dear TINA, sweet sister, we see your faith in every post and the Lord sees it in your every moment – the good, the challenging, the confusing, He sees. Love you, sister and I thank you for sharing your life and heart with us! Praying for Abbi, that she is doing better. ❤️

    4. Danielle B says:

      A resounding Amen dear sister!

    5. Cat-tee says:

      AMEN ❤️

    6. Kim Mullins says:

      yes! me too! a wondering, aging sinner!

    7. Mia Faith says:

      Yes! Yes!! I love this.

    8. Jane K says:

      Yes! Let’s be women of God who laugh in joy and hope through it all!

    9. Mari V says:

      Love you sweet Tina!!

    10. Heather O'Malley says:

      Amen!

    11. GramsieSue says:

      I love this!!
      EVEN Sue…..

    12. Cee Gee says:

      You have many here, obviously, who identify with you – wandering, aging sinners we may be, but faithful in study and exhortation we also strive to be. Love you, sweet Tina. and your faithful God-honoring posts! Keep on laughin’ and sharin’! ❤

    13. Sharon Jersey Girl says:

      Thank you Tina for once again, saying it so well! I too always see Sarah’s laughing not as unbelief, but one of joy, happiness, expectation & praise!
      Happy Friday sweet sister! ❤️

    14. Tami says:

      By faith even Tami…pretty mind blowing
