2 Corinthians 12:9

Scripture is God-breathed and true. When we memorize it, we carry the good news of Jesus with us wherever we go.

This week, we’re continuing to memorize 2 Corinthians 12:9 by adding the second part of the verse.

But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is perfected in weakness.” Therefore, I will most gladly boast all the more about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may reside in me.
—2 Corinthians 12:9

Its when we are at our weakest (and even when we’re not) that our dependence solely relies on our Jesus! We can not do life without HIM! Oh…we (I) might try it on my own, BUT it doesn’t go well. SO I sit back down (or move forward) and WAIT on my JESUS (my daddy) who knows BEST! Happy Sunday sweet She’s!! This morning my daughter and I are going to do a “practice” walk to the Junior College on the trail and see how long it takes her! The College is about 2 miles from our home. I know this because I’m ALWAYS that trail. This may be a better option for her. BUT as her mom, I start to think about the Winter and rain, and….. wait….TRUST….I’m taking a DEEP breathe and praying MY JESUS will protect my daughter! Funny thing is, she’s more cautious than I.

  5. Cheryl Blow says:

I also have to repent of not trusting God with my weakness and that His grace is sufficient for me. God is faithful dear She’s and will gives us grace for whatever we face!

So appreciate all of you our comments and insights! Praying for all of you!

No one likes to share their weaknesses, let alone BOAST in them, unless it somehow gets us sympathy, lol. Oftentimes, it isn’t until we get older and decline in our physical strength that we realize we are powerless in things, and even then I feel like many men seem to get grumpy and mad as a result! They become not as useful and that is a sad reality. We feel helpless, unable to do! I guess I say all this because when you have sickness or disease you feel this way also. Or when you are in loss you are weak. We all are weak, it’s just if we are going to fill the weakness with the ONE that can strengthen, guide, and protect us. All of you are a beautiful testament of this through the years of us being together here. Turning to God in our sad, weak, distraught, confused, anxious times.

“Cast your cares on the Lord and He will sustain you, He will not let the righteous be shaken” Psalms 55:22

    “fear not, for I am with you;
    be not dismayed, for I am your God;
I will strengthen you, I will help you,
I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” Isaiah 41:10

Can’t wait to go to church this morning and my sister going with us!

    This is from John MacArthur:
“My grace is sufficient for you. The present tense of the verb translated “is sufficient” reveals the constant availability of divine grace. God would not remove the thorn, as Paul had requested, but would continually supply him with grace to endure it (cf. 1 Cor. 15:10; Phil. 4:13; Col. 1:29). My strength is made perfect in weakness. Cf. 4:7–11. The weaker the human instrument, the more clearly God’s grace shines forth.”
MacArthur also pointed out that “Paul took no pleasure in the pain itself, but rejoiced in the power of Christ that it revealed through him.”

Joining Kelly in asking for forgiveness for not surrendering my weaknesses to Him as much ad I should so that He can be glorified. I do thank Him for many things that I accomplish that I probably shouldn’t be able to do. I acknowledge that it is only through Him that I have the ability. I admit I forgot to do that yesterday! ❤

Have a blessed day, sisters! ❤

I love to listen to John MacArthur.
      .
I always talked with a young girl in Sunday school about worry being my biggest sin. (It was hers too… poor young girl even had ulcers!) It still is my biggest sin, I think. (Thus the “Strength in Weakness” tattoo on my arm.) I am always looking at what I CAN DO in this situation or that one. But, He’s got me (and all of us, sweet sisters!) Let us boast in Him and let Him take care of us as He knows best.

      1. Cee Gee says:

❤ so glad you are feeling better!

    Amen

  10. Kelly (NEO) says:

To be thankful for my weaknesses is definitely counter-cultural and a struggle to do for me.
Jesus, be glorified in all areas of my life. Forgive me for not surrendering my weaknesses to You so that YOUR power may be shown.
    .
    Psalm 29 1-2, 11
1 Ascribe to the Lord, O heavenly beings,
ascribe to the Lord glory and strength.
    2 A1scribe to the Lord the glory due his name;
worship the Lord in the splendor of holiness.
11 May the Lord give strength to his people!
May the Lord bless his people with peace!”

    1. Cee Gee says:

Amen, Kelly, and amen! I am also joining you in prayer for the situation at work! ❤

  11. Lynne from Alabama says:

Good morning, precious SRT sisters! I have never been the first one to comment but today I am up very early. I woke up very early and couldn’t go back to sleep for listening to Jack’s breathing/snoring and thinking about all that is going on. I am a planner and a detail-oriented person and sitting around waiting is hard for me. I am going to be very real this morning. Even though Jack is ten years older than me I always thought Jesus would come back before one of us passed. It’s been very hard grieving for over two years but never being able to give in to that grief. Jack was diagnosed with lymphoma in January of 2022 and then with dementia that summer. I guess in a way it is a blessing that he has both. He doesn’t worry about the lymphoma because of his dementia and he won’t suffer the slow passing of dementia because of his lymphoma. I listened to Great is Thy Faithfulness by Carrie Underwood and CeCe Winans just a moment ago and was so blessed. God truly is faithful even where I am today! Thank you for all your kind words and prayers! ❤️

    1. Carol M says:

Dearest Lynn… My ♥️ always skips a beat when you share… I have a very dear friend whose husband is suffering with dementia (a type of Alzheimer’s) … it has been hard to watch ( actually, we can’t , because he wants NO visitors) she is a literal “prisoner in her own home” no caregivers allowed, (so that she may have a break). While her faith is strong, it just breaks my ♥️. I text her each morning with encouraging words… verses, etc. sometimes, like today, I send her comments from you…I so wish the two of you could meet and hug…but we’re in southeastern PA… when I lift you and Jack and the other SRT’s in this position to Jesus, I always include our friends.(let’s call them “ Don and Pat”). Thank you for your transparency, dear Lynn… God is blessing others through the reality of His Grace flowing through your life!! Glad to be your friend!! ♥️

      1. Lynne from Alabama says:

Carol, I cannot tell you how much your kind words encouraged me this morning! I am so sorry that your friend is going through this! I know the feeling of being a prisoner in your own home all too well. Thank you for being an encouragement to her. You will never know how it has helped to carry her in these tough times. I have a friend that reaches out with encouraging texts every day and it means so much. Sometimes you feel like the everyone else is living and you are just existing. Love you, sweet sister!

        1. Cee Gee says:

❤ Lynne, my heart hurts for all you and Jack have endured. I remember when he was diagnosed and those early concerns. You have remained faithful and loving- always putting Jack and his needs first. My brother in law felt much like you after 5 years, but he is doing OK now almost 2 years after my sister’s passing. You will be OK, too, because God is right there with you and He is your (and my) 24/7 Caregiver! We love you so much and God loves you even more! Sending a big tight hug from SC! Praying for you and Jack along with LINDA in NC and Gene, GRAMIESUE and Steve, NANCY S and others in that position. Thank you for sharing your heart! ❤

          1. Lynne from Alabama says:

Thank you so much, sweet sister! I feel that hug and all your prayers! This group of precious ladies has been such a support for me during these tough years! Love you! ❤️

    2. Kelly (NEO) says:

      ❤️

    3. Danielle B says:

Oh Lynne, I join the many other Shes here to pray for and hopefully encourage you. Watching someone you love in their last days is hard and you continue to show your love for Jack. I pray today God’s favor is something you experience!

    4. Rhonda J. says:

Gm Lynn, love when you share what you are feeling because when we do that we are releasing some of that that weighs us down, and your Godly sisters can pray for you and show you how we love you so much! It is beautiful how you made the connection of how God is caring for you and Steve although outsiders would never see it that way. They think HOW COULD a good God let things happen, my BIL just said this last night, but we know God IS working everything according for the good of those who love Him! So I KNOW you are going to be okay, and you know where Jack is going..RIGHT to your Father’s arms!! Still sending you a loving hug every morning! One day we will get to meet! Maybe over a zoom and coffee!

      1. Lynne from Alabama says:

Thank you, sweet sister, for your prayers and encouragement! You are always a blessing to all of us! ❤️❤️❤️

    5. Michelle P says:

Lynne, was thinking of you last night – I am glad to see you sharing your heart this morning. I’m so sorry for what you are going through and am praying you continue to process your emotions with the Lord (the only One who can truly understand your deepest heart and longings). He loves you so much. God bless you and keep you, sister. We are here for you. ❤️

    6. Rachel says:

I think of and pray for you and Jack so often! Praying for you in this season of Jesus walking Jack safely (and I pray gently) Home that you will know the peace of comfort of the Lord and that He sustains you in the waiting. You are loved. ❤️

      1. Lynne from Alabama says:

I love the analogy of Jesus walking Jack safely home! I can actually visualize it! Thank you for those sweet words and your prayers! ❤️❤️❤️

    7. Cheryl Blow says:

Praying for you both! Waiting and seeing a loved one decline is so hard! Praying God’s peace and comfort surrounds both of you!

    8. Adrienne says:

    9. Mari V says:

Lynne…YOU are loved and cherished. WE I am so encouraged by your strength that we all know comes from our Jesus! You inspire me and all of us here! You are a blessing! Praying for an extra boost energy for you this morning!

    10. AZ Walker says:

I am going to play Great as Thy Faithfulness as I pray for you dear Lynne!

      1. Cee Gee says:

    11. Donna Wolcott says:

Dear Lynne, God is faithful all the time and you and Steve are not walking this road alone. He’s there to lead and guide in the decisions, to carry when the weight of it seems too great, and to walk beside each of you. May you feel His love and peace. Steve has been blessed to have you as his wife and friend. Sending prayers and hugs and also for other sisters in similar situations.

    12. Victoria E says:
