1 Corinthians 1:8-9

Scripture is God-breathed and true. When we memorize it, we carry the good news of Jesus with us wherever we go.

For the next three weeks, we’ll memorize 1 Corinthians 1:8–9, the passage including our key verse for 1 Corinthians. We’ll start with verse 8, Paul’s reminder of the source of our strength as we wait in hope for Jesus to return, working with Him to bring that hope to the world.

He will also strengthen you to the end, so that you will be blameless in the day of our Lord Jesus Christ. God is faithful; you were called by him into fellowship with his Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.
—1 Corinthians 1:8–9

Please pray for my MIL. She is having an emergency surgery for a twisted bowel! If anyone has had a loved one that has went through this, let me know. I want to be as helpful as I can be during recovery if needed!

    1. Rhonda J. says:

Prayers for you MIL! I have never known anyone to experience it, but with gut issues my whole adult life I know it is hard and frustrating, especially around people ending cheeseburgers fries, cokes and ice-cream. It takes a lot of discipline to adhere to gut health diets. But it sounds like hers is more structural issues. It’s sweet that you want to go the extra mile to be helpful :)

    2. Kelly (NEO) says:

Ouch! Praying. A friend’s son went through that as a child. Came through just fine, but no recollection of any special needs during recovery, other than normal wound care and easy to digest foods for a while.

    3. Victoria E says:

Kim praying for your MIL! I’m sure the surgeons will give good post op instructions.

    4. Therese says:

Hi Kim. I can help with that! I have had dozens of bowel obstructions and 14 surgeries. They are very painful. How did the surgery go, and what’s the prognosis? Was it an untwist or did she have some intestines removed?
      I’m praying for her.

I need HIS strength today! I need it EVERYDAY! In the hard times and the good times and in the unknown times. WE need HIS strength. We cannot do life without Him. So grateful and thankful that HE, our Jesus is faithful even when we are not. Please pray as I had another argument with my mom LATE last that could of been prevented. Instead her lack of consideration didn’t allow it and still blamed me! Since being here and having gone through Celebrate Recovery, getting spiritually and emotionally healthy, learning how to set boundaries, YEP even with my mom and children, its been hard for my mom and most times does not understand boundaries. My children not so much as they have set their own boundaries even with me. I am SO grateful to have a good and healthy relationship with my son and daughter! Its ALL JESUS! I take a DEEP breathe this morning and place this at the feet of MY JESUS! He and He alone will give me the strength I need. Happy Sunday sweet She’s! Looking forward to service with our high school ministry!

    1. Rhonda J. says:

Sweet Mari V, oh how we love you and your sweet nature! It’s hard to believe anyone not getting along with you, but yes, I know it is more than that, and it is usually most tough in our own families to break patterns. Praying for full restoration for ongoing renewing and refreshing for your mother-daughter relationship!

Love you Shes, happy Sunday! God bless us to keep on living in the fullness of His presence. May you all walk in faith, not looking at what is around, but looking up at the Author and Finisher of our faith race. Jesus loves you and He hears you, in all things. May we walk believing His love is capable of carrying us in it all.

GM, Sunday, my favorite morning! Although Saturday group day is up there with Wed Jail day! If you are struggling and overwhelmed in your week full of work, strife, kids and all- I was going to suggest to really try to get in a small group where you can be with others, share your hearts and let other sisters encourage and strengthen you…but then I realized that is what EVERY morning does for us HERE!! What a blessing SRT is!! And you She’s! I believe if you are here reading with us, that is one powerful way that Jesus IS strengthening us till that wonderful day! To have each other to lean on, KNOWING the difference that WE HAVE compared to the world!
I led into this because in group yesterday we were discussing the chapter with the GIANT of DISCOURAGEMENT. That is a giant we need to kill! Because we are IN CHRIST he strengthens us, but it starts with turning our eyes on Him! And Praise! Praising in the Storm, Praising in the Prison, praising in the depression, praising in the heartache and hurt. Our focus reading was Paul and Silas, being tortured and imprisoned, and shackled with a guard that was no way going to give them any comfort. Then the scripture says they Praised. After being beat horrible. And the situation looked seemingly hopeless. They start singing and praising (what?!) how?!) And that is recorded right there for us to read, that is so crazy. That is our example to find a will to praise in the bad, to find strength to praise in the dark, deep pit. The story amazes me, because we read through it so quickly in a few paragraphs! But we find ourselves in those pits. And when we praise, and surround ourselves with a Silas that together we can do it together..that is big. It is Ground Shaking! Right! Our God shook the ground and broke the prison door and the shackles. Yet, the others were so amazed and shocked they didn’t run out..nor Paul and Silas. They affected everyone around them with God’s power, and then even went on to save the guard and his family. There is power in our God. There is strength till the day of Jesus Christ. We have the Holy Spirit in us for that power. I love that our dear Lynn, GramsieSue and MiaFaith have said this week that they find strength in Jesus to somehow make it through this hard, hard time and they say we strengthen them with our prayers, and we know they strengthen US more with their faithfulness! SO Good!!

This doesn’t have much to do with blameless..so I’ll just say..we will be blameless in the day! I think by staying in His will, being there to strengthen our brethren, and praising Him through our life because of the glorious relationship with him! I am thankful, every hour, in every situation. Even in the hard, in the pit. In the Storm. Sorry for the length!

    Have a great Sunday!

    1. Michelle P says:

Love this, Rhonda ❤️ there is something to what you wrote about being in a small group. She Reads Truth is an excellent tool, but I find that physical conversations about Jesus are that much more important. It’s important to look someone in the eyes and talk about our faith. I don’t really think that can be replaced… And I would still encourage women to find a local group if it is possible. God loves our local gatherings ❤️ God bless you, and happy Sunday!

      1. Michelle P says:

Also, you are so gifting in encouraging through the Word! Love that you continue to do that in the jail and everywhere you feel led to!!

        1. Michelle P says:

          Gifted** lol

        2. Rhonda J says:

Yes..thats where I was going! It truly strengthens us to be with others in person…it is life changing! I longed for it in my home church fir the 7 years we went to that church and never did noin, and that was what was missing!! And biy dies it build us in all ways, it helps us when we are the ones needing to be filled, and then we help others when they need filled. And…if you don’t have it, start one! Do a neighborhood group, if you are a mom start one for moms..singles, what ever you think you need, others need it too!! I was looking through my first books I used for a friend coffee date every other week, and my notes when I went through a horrible divorce…life changing!! I’m typing on my phone rather than the usual laptop…hard!!

  13. Tami says:

1 Corinthians 1:8–9 (NLT): 8 He will keep you strong to the end so that you will be free from all blame on the day when our Lord Jesus Christ returns. 9 God will do this, for he is faithful to do what he says, and he has invited you into partnership with his Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.
