Can’t we all just agree that cookie dough is best when consumed raw? (Yes, I am aware of those four little words—“do not consume raw”—on the package that would say otherwise.) I don’t know if it’s the taste of sheer rebellion or the perfectly gooey texture, but regardless, I am never totally convinced that sacrificing the delicious and immediate taste of cookie dough is worth the patience and distress of waiting for the dough to actually become warm cookies.
Perhaps the English proverb “Have your cake and eat it too” should apply to any type of baked good. We want to experience the good thing that’s available now and still have the good thing to come later. Thankfully, Peter’s letters don’t ask us to make that choice. Unlike the cookie dough warnings, Peter encourages us to savor our relationship with God both now and forever, because that’s how much time we’ve been given to enjoy our Savior.
God’s economy is different from anything we’ve ever experienced here on earth. His understanding of time and other resources is complete, whereas ours is limited. But being His children, we don’t need to worry about saving or storing up His goodness in order to make sure they will last another day. Nor do we need to feel ashamed for fully enjoying God and His blessings too much; His glory is consistently and eternally abundant.
Now, we await the day when all His promises will come to fruition (Romans 15:4). Throughout eternity, we will have the privilege of learning more about the One who made those promises to us.
Now, as an act of submission to a loving God, we attempt to live up to our calling as people who are already spotless in His sight, fully loved and wholly accepted (2 Peter 3:16). Throughout eternity, we will enjoy the righteousness Christ has won for us. Sin will be a thing of the past.
Now, God’s ways appear to be hidden from us, but we can trust that they are always better than our understanding (Isaiah 55:8–9). And throughout eternity, we will see Him face to face and know Him as He truly is (1 Corinthians 13:12).
Now, we are called to be on guard, to be sober-minded, so we will not be led astray. Peter instructs us to do this as we “grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ” (2 Peter 3:17–18). Throughout eternity, we will reign with Him.
Even as we prepare for God’s coming kingdom, He has given us “everything required for life and godliness through the knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness” (1 Peter 1:3). As he concludes his second letter, Peter reminds us of this truth that is everlasting: God’s own glory and goodness are ours to receive, enjoy, and share, from now until eternity. To Him be the glory, always. Amen.

I pray that I can live in light of eternity down here on Earth. I pray that I can be a light to those around me. I pray that I would being your light with me wherever I go.
Amen
I am so thankful that his love bridged the gap of my imperfections and allows me to rest in His love forever.
“Rather, you must grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. All glory to him, both now and forever! Amen” (2 Peter 3:18). Ah. I love the reminder to savor our relationship with the Lord now … and forever! Not just enduring today to get to eternity. There is joy in knowing God … joy in every day! ❤️
Over the last couple of days, I have been interacting with someone who tried to twist scripture so that they could ‘prove’ that God does not love everyone and that He wishes to save only His ‘chosen’ people. I untwisted a lot of it for them, but they are still not convinced, so I pray that God will open their eyes to see the truth of His character instead of being convinced that God’s grace and mercy does not extend to them.
The point Peter made about being on guard for false prophets and people who will twist scripture around is very relevant in our world today. I find this especially true with what I call mega-churches; non-denominational, massive in size. The pastors of these churches have extremely lavish salaries, and they tend to have services that seem like rock concerts rather than worshiping God. Most of these pastors don’t dive deep into the scripture- they tell you what you want to hear, not what the Bible truly says. Just be on guard.
Oops! I’m typing fast got to get to work. Hit the “post“ button too quickly. She says this morning:
But being his children, we don’t need to worry about saving or storing up His goodness in order to make sure they will last another day.
I love these words from Kaitlyn this morning: But being his children, We do not
I meant to say FaithGateway.com My apologies for that! My eyes don’t work as well on my Kindle!
To Him be the Glory!
Amen
Beautiful promises on which to stand! Thank you, God!!! I think Kaitlin was “coining a phrase” with the words “fully loved and wholly accepted. ” I do love that phrase!!! I did a Google search for “fully loved and wholly accepted” and “fully loved and fully accepted” and found a wonderful post on Faithway.com by Lysa Terquerst. Lisa used the phrase fully loved and fully accepted in that post. It is also worth the time to read it! Thank you SRT for your excellent studies!!!
We have the joy and hope of eternity living within us and we will one day experience it fully. In the meantime, we are to shine, not whine.
❤️
AMEN!
II Corinthians 4:1 Therefore, since we have this ministry because we were shown mercy, we do not give up.
We do not give up!
AMEN!
I love that “fully loved, wholly accepted.” But where is it actually found? It’s not 2 Peter 3:16
I think it’s actually verse 14: “So then, dear friends, since you are looking forward to this, make every effort to be found spotless, blameless and at peace with him.”
Maybe Colossians 3:12? Holy and dearly loved….
The last verse quoted is also wrong… it’s not 1 Peter 1:3 it’s 2 Peter 1:3…
Fully loved. Wholly accepted. Amen!
No matter my circumstances-messy or devout; no matter the depth of my understanding- superficial or intimate; no matter my faith walk- meandering or purposeful; His glory remains the same. There is something in that that gives me confidence. His glory does not rely on me, but my awe and reverence of the
Truth of who he is shines from him onto me and my heart cannot keep from reflecting that light back to him in gratitude, awe, and praise.
I appreciate what you post each day!
I am so thankful that He is unchanging. As human relationships change, and are conditional, His love and glory I can rely on.
So much peace at the end of the day, regardless of of how the day started, or ended.
Dear friends,
Wait for these things,
Make every effort,
Patience…
Be on your guard
Grow in grace and knowledge of Jesus.
Show mercy
For we are not proclaiming ourselves but Jesus Christ as Lord, and ourselves as your servants for Jesus’s sake.
Let light shine out of darkness
Give the light of the knowledge of God’s glory in the face of Jesus Christ.
Be set free
Stand firm!
Representing Jesus in this lost world is an honor,
but not always easy.
Tozer said, as Christians we are not public relations agents, or diplomats. We are prophets.
Our message is not a compromise, but an ultimatum.
We must not imagine ourselves commissioned to make Christ acceptable to big business, the press, education, or the sports world.
God offers life, but not an improved old life. (wow)
The life he offers is life out of death.
Simply, repent and believe.
(I would add, then live out Christ’s love.)
I’ve been watching and listening at the hospital these last few days.
If you are a nurse or helper at a hospital, blessings be upon you.
People are not always kind. Even God’s people.
They are afraid, they are hurting, many are lost and alone,
and sometimes, they take it out on you.
(It happens in the classroom, with parents
The difference is the classroom is not life and death,
Sometimes the hospital is.)
Thank you those of you who work in life and death situations
We have had many of you share your faith these last few days,
We have not always lived ours out like we would like.
We are sinners in need of repentance, saved by grace
living in constant belief and trust in our risen Savior and Lord, Jesus.
Thank God for his provision, great mercy, and love.
Our opportunity to share Him is every day we have breath.
The English proverb is actually “you can’t have your cake and eat it too” and it means you can’t do two impossible things. I’m also not finding the version of 2Pet3:16 that says we are fullly loved and wholly accepted. Otherwise, great post and I’m so thankful that God’s glory and goodness are ours to enjoy forever.
I think that reference might be from verse 14, not 16: “So then, dear friends, since you are looking forward to this, make every effort to be found spotless, blameless and at peace with him.”
Yes AA!, I’m English and this threw me too.
I will continue to give God the glory for all that He has done and continues to do for me in my life. It is by my own will alone that I have the many blessings bestowed upon me. It is because God wants his child to be taken care of and I appreciate that.
Amen.
Amen.
Amen.
Indeed to Him be the glory..
Kaitlin… this had my heart singing this morning… I loved every truthful word!
This, just got to me…
Now, as an act of submission to a loving God, we attempt to live up to our calling as people who are already spotless in His sight, fully loved and wholly accepted (2 Peter 3:16).
I am a sinner, no matter how hard I try to be good or better, I fall short, always..
But God.
Oh BUT GOD..
I am spotless in His sight, fully loved and wholly accepted (2 Peter 3:16). To me this is the ‘be all and end all’ that defines me in my relationship with my Lord and Savior.. no matter my mistakes, sins, setbacks or rebellions… nothing NOTHING changes in God’s heart for me..
I think I need to repeat that..
No matter my mistakes, sins, setbacks or rebellions.. nothing, NOTHING changes in God’s heart for me!
Forever loved. Forever accepted.
Amen.
TO HIM BE THE GLORY BOTH NOW AND TO THE DAY OF ETERNITY..
AMEN!
I love you Lord and with ALL that I am I say Thank you.. Thank you for everything. For all that you are and mean to me.. Thank you..
From my joyfilled heart to yours.. Happy Weekend with love wrapped hugs filled with HOPE.. xxx
That is the same verse that jumped out to me! Fully loved, wholly accepted. ♥️
