  1. Lauren Garza says:

He is omnipresent. Nothing can defeat Him. He is the Lord of Armies. He saves. He is with us. He disciplines. When He speaks it will happen. He is good. He chooses and honors. He gives mercy. He is sinless. He suffered for us. His wounds heal us. He is our shepherd.

    ❤️

  3. Oceanna King says:

19 For this is a gracious thing, when, mindful of God, one endures sorrows while suffering unjustly. 20 For what credit is it if, when you sin and are beaten for it, you endure? But if when you do good and suffer for it you endure, this is a gracious thing in the sight of God. – 1 Peter 2:19-20

  4. Karen Collins says:

10 Once you were not a people, but now you are God’s people; once you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy. – 1 Peter 2:10

  5. Carol Bowman says:

10Once you were not a people, but now you are God’s people; once you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy.

I love the reminder to live as people who are free because Jesus freed us from the chains of sin.

  7. Melissa Smith says:

24 “He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, that we might die to sin and live to righteousness. By his wounds you have been healed. “
    Glory! Hallelujah! Thank you, Jesus!

  8. Sarah Johnson says:

“We are a people belonging to God, aliens and strangers in the world.” Definitely feels like that most of the time! It makes me think of the CS Lewis quote “if you find a desire within you which nothing in this world can fulfill, the most probably explanation is that it is found in a different world.”

  9. Jaclyn Toscas says:

2Like newborn babies, crave pure spiritual milk, so that by it you may grow up in your salvation, 3now that you have tasted that the Lord is good.

We have all tasted His goodness. Vivid metaphor to crave reading God’s Word like a newborn with a 7-month old at home!

  10. May Alcorn says:

25For you were straying like sheep, but have now returned to the Shepherd and Overseer of your souls.

  11. E Hong says:

7So the honor is for you who believe, but for those who do not believe,

“The stone that the builders rejected
    has become the cornerstone,”

    8and

    “A stone of stumbling,
    and a rock of offense.”

They stumble because they disobey the word, as they were destined to do.

  12. Jamie Chapman says:

So true! And so many points of guidance all throughout the bible

  13. JoAnn Foley-DeFiore says:

9But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light. 20For what credit is it if, when you sin and are beaten for it, you endure? But if when you do good and suffer for it you endure, this is a gracious thing in the sight of God. 21For to this you have been called, because Christ also suffered for you, leaving you an example, so that you might follow in his steps. 23When he was reviled, he did not revile in return; when he suffered, he did not threaten, but continued entrusting himself to him who judges justly.”
Jesus is ever our example and leads us forward in our walk with Him!

  14. JoAnn Foley-DeFiore says:

26I will deliver them into the hand of those who seek their life, into the hand of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon and his officers. Afterward Egypt shall be inhabited as in the days of old, declares the Lord.

27“But fear not, O Jacob my servant,
    nor be dismayed, O Israel,
for behold, I will save you from far away,
and your offspring from the land of their captivity.
Jacob shall return and have quiet and ease,
and none shall make him afraid.”
The Father is so gracious and full of mercy. Even in the midst of their just punishment, He plans to restore Israel and Judah to peace and prosperity!

  15. Sharon Ide says:

As God testifies, He punishes in just measure.

  16. Victoria McLeod says:

Put away passions of the flesh, which wage war against your soul: “1 So put away all malice and all deceit and hypocrisy and envy and all slander.” Lord Almighty help me in my sin!

    Yesterday’s reading:
To God’s elect, exiles scattered throughout the provinces of Pontus, Galatia, Cappadocia, Asia and Bithynia,
3 Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, 4 and into an inheritance that can never perish, spoil or fade. This inheritance is kept in heaven for you,
    6. In all this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while you may have had to suffer grief in all kinds of trials.
It just strikes me- what a different tone of voice we hear from Jeremiah to Peter. Both speaking to a chosen people exiled. Peter exhorting the people to do good and have hope- because of Jesus! I really feel the light breaking out of the darkness compared to the Jeremiah gloom- Thank you Jesus for being a total game changer! For being our HOPE!!

    1. SarahMay says:

Amen! Neat correlation! We all are exiles & strangers to some extent, all in need of the hope only Jesus can bring!

  21. Chelsea says:

“9 But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for God’s own possession, so that you may proclaim the excellencies of Him who has called you out of darkness into His marvelous light;”. (1 Peter 2:9). Thank you Jesus for making us your special possession. We aren’t meant to live forever on this earth– our hearts are made for heaven, with You Lord. May we proclaim Your excellencies while we are living here.

I think we need to remember that with whomever wins this election that it doesn’t matter. As in the Bible kings and Pharos come and go but God remains forever.

    1. Sophia says:

Words of wisdom! I will keep this in mind in this stressful time.

  24. Marlaena says:

A good reminder as the US election comes up and you are afraid and unsure what to do. (Prayers from Canada!)

13 Be subject for the Lord’s sake to every human institution, whether it be to the emperor as supreme, 14 or to governors as sent by him to punish those who do evil and to praise those who do good. 15 For this is the will of God, that by doing good you should put to silence the ignorance of foolish people. 16 Live as people who are free, not using your freedom as a cover-up for evil, but living as servants of God. 17 Honor everyone. Love the brotherhood. Fear God. Honor the emperor.
