God is good! Dear God, please cover us in your presence Lord. Please protect us and keep us safe. You are so good. You are the light and love of my life. Amen.
He gives great advice. He will rise. He orders. He instructs. He is just, listen! He still continues to go after us. Pour your heart to God. He wants us. He knows what He is doing. He protects
13And the Lord said:
“Because this people draw near with their mouth
and honor me with their lips,
while their hearts are far from me,
and their fear of me is a commandment taught by men,
14therefore, behold, I will again
do wonderful things with this people,
with wonder upon wonder;
and the wisdom of their wise men shall perish,
and the discernment of their discerning men shall be hidden.”
It isn’t enough just to say that we are Christians. If our hearts aren’t changed by God’s word, nothing matters!
16therefore thus says the Lord God,
“Behold, I am the one who has laid as a foundation in Zion,
a stone, a tested stone,
a precious cornerstone, of a sure foundation:
‘Whoever believes will not be in haste.’
Is 29:13-14
13The Lord said:
These people approach me with their speeches
to honor me with lip-service —
yet their hearts are far from me,
and human rules direct their worship of me.
14Therefore, I will again confound these people
with wonder after wonder.
The wisdom of their wise will vanish,
and the perception of their perceptive will be hidden.
It’s easy to take this verse and apply it to others and say, “God is showing you, why can’t you see?” I’m challenged today to reflect this back on me…
So much of today’s reading from Isaiah points to Jesus ❤️ I am so looking forward to the day when all the ears will hear and all they yes will see the glory and wonder of the Lord.
And then seeing the bravery of Paul’s nephew, speaking up about the plot to kill Paul. I can’t imagine it would be easy to try to speak out against 40 people who literally vowed to do wrong. (Not even looking at the fact that the number 40 has significant meaning throughout the Bible)
To me, in a real life application, it shows that present and using people in our lives to help us out in ways we ourselves may not even know are happening, and that He is looking out for us, even when our current situation may not be most glamorous. It also makes me think that we should try to emulate Paul’s nephew as well. If we see/hear something that we know is wrong, we should speak up.
28 Grain for bread is crushed,
Indeed, he does not continue to thresh it forever.
Because the wheel of his cart and his horses eventually damage it,
He does not thresh it longer.
To thresh means to separate. And when Isaiah reads that he does not continue to thresh the grain so as to not damage it, that speaks to me. How often do I thresh my sin, meaning separate it to the point that I no longer see how God wants to heal me instead of damage me. So often I will perpetuate this guilt from sin when God has already separated my sin from my soul. He has forgiven me and poured grace over me. He desires nothing but union with me, not separation. Lord allow me to rise in the same manner bread rises when baked so that I might be filled with your love and grace.
I’m just totally impressed with the courage of Paul’s nephew. If the 40 men were willing to kill Paul, wouldn’t they be as likely to want to kill him for interfering? True courage.
Did anyone else wonder who Ariel was? I googled this answer:….,, When we consider the way Ariel is used in these verses, and the context as a whole, the idea behind calling Jerusalem Lion of God is probably sarcastic. The repetition of the name (four times in two verses), and the context of God’s judgment against Jerusalem, suggest the idea that Jerusalem may have thought of herself as the Lion of God, but God didn’t share that lofty opinion of the city. It may be that the people of Jerusalem had taken to calling themselves by the name Ariel, to both express and strengthen their confidence…….any other thoughts ?
Isaiah 28:13 And the word of the Lord will be to them
precept upon precept, precept upon precept,
line upon line, line upon line,
here a little, there a little,
that they may go, and fall backward,
and be broken, and snared, and taken.
I love being reminded that God know we were 100% meant to be IMPERFECT and he is forgiving to help us learn! HAPPY FRIDAY! Let’s remember our goals of being imperfect so that we might be more understanding of ourselves as He is!
16 You turn things upside down!
Shall the potter be regarded as the clay,
that the thing made should say of its maker,
“He did not make me”;
or the thing formed say of him who formed it,
“He has no understanding”?
Remembering that God is in charge!
This stood out to me too Nicole. In this world where we have the ability to have so much choice and control in our lives it is easy to forget that God is the one who should shape us.
5 In that day the Lord of hosts will be a crown of glory,
and a diadem of beauty, to the remnant of his people,
6 and a spirit of justice to him who sits in judgment,
and strength to those who turn back the battle at the gate.
29 This also comes from the Lord of hosts;
he is wonderful in counsel
and excellent in wisdom.
Love these statements God makes about himself. He is a crown of glory and a diadem of beauty. He judges those who judge. He gives strength and is wonderful in counsel and excellent in wisdom. All these characteristics in one God. He is more than enough for us today!
19 As often as it comes it will carry you away;
morning after morning, by day and by night,
it will sweep through.”
The understanding of this message
will bring sheer terror.

I am really loving reading through Paul’s story. The way he reacts to things and relies on the Lord gives me a great model to follow throughout my day

I think God nailed legalism right here in Isaiah 29:13
I found these verses very interesting and helpful
