  2. Briana Fulton says:

So is John the first person to receive the Holy Spirit? It says that he would have the Holy Spirit from the womb and this is wayyyy before the apostles were anointed. I haven’t thought of that connection before!

25“This is the way the Lord has dealt with me in the days when He looked with favor upon me, to take away my disgrace among men.”

    So true

  8. Amber Guitron says:

The Lord fulfills His promises- no matter how impossible they may seem.

I didn’t realize Luke was written for one person, Theophilus (which means lover of God). I think we always skip over that first part because so much else happens in the book, but that context is also really important!

“For you, O Lord God, have spoken, and with your blessing shall the house of your servant be blessed forever.”-ellie

I love David’s reaction to God’s promises for him. He recognizes God’s greatness and that his gifts are given from his own heart, that his people may know Him and who He is!

#365DaysofTruth: this is an account of the Lord’s faithfulness! He promised and He will surely deliver!

Yes Yamiris! Looking forward to reading more from the prophets

  15. Yamiris says:

I love that you can see Jesus in the Old Testament, he is the Son of God! 2 Samuel 7:11-14

I absolutely am so excited about 2 Sam.7:12-16! You know there is some who are teaching in my Bible school that you shouldn’t look at scripture christologicaly all the time, and they pointed it out when we read this passage.. I was so mad! “Well, Christ didn’t commit iniquity..” Seriously, he was treated as if He had committed sin look at these verses: He was chastised for our iniquities (Isaiah 53:5), God put our sins on Him (verse 6), numbered along with the transgressors (verse 12), He made him to be sin who knew no sin to be sin for us (2 Cor. 5:21).. I don’t know what the point of looking at scripture without seeing Christ or God’s goal of salvation.. I thought I’d share in case you are approached with the same teaching..

    1. Hesaved83 says:

Pvboettcher, sorry but honestly that is false teaching & you’re doing right by sticking with what the Word of God says!!! (Eph 4:14, 2 Tim 2:15)

Luke, the doctor. Love his detail and his compassion for those who were sick

  18. Gabrielle says:

12 When your days are over and you rest with your ancestors, I will raise up your offspring to succeed you, your own flesh and blood, and I will establish his kingdom. 13 He is the one who will build a house for my Name, and I will establish the throne of his kingdom forever.

Wow God is constantly paving the way for Jesus! Tonight I learned about the term “prolepsis.” It means, not yet now. It is the idea that all that will be, already is. That the church is a foreshadow of heaven to come. So as believers we live in a joyful confidence of God’s kingdom. So through our churches we are supposed to live actively in our communities. To reach out and be the church. This passage reminds me of that. Since Jesus is, Jesus always was, and always will be.

    1. Hesaved83 says:

Gabrielle, my pastor preached on same message today :)

  19. I don’t really see what I was suppose to learn from these two stories

    1. Pam Blum says:

Danielle, I think both stories illustrate how as believers we have got trust God and His plan even though we don’t always know what it is. David wanted to build a temple for God and was then told he couldn’t because his son was meant to do it. Zechariah had to trust that he really would have a son.

“Who am I, O Lord God, and what is my house that you have brought me thus far?” Such a powerful reminder to be thankful where we are in our journey!

    1. Shannon Roe says:

This stood out to me, too! Love this. He has already brought us so far. And how Faithful He is!!!

  21. Laura says:

I am reminded from this passage in 2 Samuel and throughout the Bible that life is a constant journey. It was quite a journey for David to become king. A lot of times in life I desire to be “settled” but I’ll never truly be settled until I am in heaven. May I enjoy the journey God has for me.

    1. Leah Swindon says:

I agree Laura! I heard a great lesson once about the time from when David was anointed to appointed. It wasn’t instant, it was a journey. God’s timing is perfect..enjoy the journey!

    2. Christina D. says:

Laura thank you for the reminder about being “settled.” Such a good word.

  22. Terri-Kate says:

I love the fact that John’s history has been recorded for us! His humble parents, their flaws, and their joys make me reflect on my own tiny family today and how much God has seen fit to bless me, like David reflects on 2 Samuel.

  23. Sal says:

22 ‘For this reason You are great, O Lord God; for there is none like You, and there is no God besides You, according to all that we have heard with our ears.
God is great, He is like no other and there is no one other than our God! Lord, I need the reminder that it is only you… Not me, not any other person…Only you. May my hours be spent trusting you!

    1. Laura says:

Amen! I highlighted this verse as well

  24. Ali says:

PS I don’t think there is an official hashtag for this plan but I know some people are using #srt365 so I’ll be using that on Instagram occasionally if anyone else wants to do that! I’m @veggielawyer :)

    1. Justine Fern Jacobsen says:

awesome! I’ll be on the lookout for the hashtag!

    2. Leah Swindon says:

Thx Ali!! I will use that too! I’m @seattlespinner on IG

    3. Pam Blum says:

I just looked up the hashtag in the news section because I thought they gave one and it’s #365DaysOfTruth, along with #SheReadsTruth. :-)

  25. Ali says:

I love reading about Elizabeth!! Hers is one of my favorite stories in the Bible because I just love how it reminds us that God has awesome plans for each of us!

  26. Grace says:

Amen – these chapters illustrate how Good and Awesome God is. Every promise He makes, He will fulfil because He is just and not a man that He should lie. God heaped so many blessings upon David and he made Elizabeth pregnant in her old age. My prayer from this is that I would not doubt whatever comes from God like Zechariah but just trust Him wholeheartedly.

  27. concretegirl says:

wow, this was exactly what I needed to be reminded of today… of God’s “steadfast love” for his people and his faithfulness! Both stories are filled with desires and promises and God’s greatness and love shines through. He HEARS and SEES and He is GOOD!

    1. Shirl says:

      Amen sister
