SRT really did a great job laying out this reading plan. It is helpful for someone like me who is reading through the Bible for the first time. My study Bible notes that Psalm 31 “foreshadows the suffering of Jesus”, which relates so well to our other recent readings.

I love the days with just Psalms as the reading which break up the books we are reading and hit the refresh button so we see the bigger picture again. I leave for a missions trip tomorrow, and these readings are great reminders to rejoice in him! Those crying out for the Lord’s help might be receiving help from our team this next week because God called on us to serve them.

  29. Annette Kendall says:

I love reading Psalms on Fridays! Have a great day ladies!

  30. Michelle O says:

I love to read the same passage from different Bible versions to give a slightly different perspective—this morning these verses from the Message were so encouraging to me:

“I run to You, God, I run for dear life… You’re my cave to hide in, my cliff to climb. Be my safe leader, my true mountain guide.”

A cave conjures the image of a place of safety, of shelter, a hideout when storms or danger comes. A safe place when the world rages.
A cliff brings to mind words like dizzying and awe-inspiring. We will never reach the end of the fullness of God—we will always have more cliff to climb and the higher we get, the more beautiful and awe-inspiring the view.
My true mountain guide is One who knows the path before I walk it. He has traveled it already and knows the highs and lows, the treacherous spots and the peaceful ones. A guide doesn’t go off and leave the adventurer on his or her own, the guide leads and gives wisdom or warnings along the path to keep the traveler safe. The one with the Guide doesn’t need to walk in fear or anxiety knowing that she has someone who is looking out for her.

So good to be reminded that God is each of these things—a Shelter, a Being we can always grow deeper into, and a Guide through life’s paths. That was encouraging to my heart today and I hope it is to yours as well.

Good points! I never thought about

  32. Kylee says:

Steadfast love surrounds the one who TRUSTS in the Lord– not the one who is perfect or the one who has it all figured out, but the one who TRUSTS God with her life. This is so encouraging to me! That I don’t have to have all the answers on how to live a Christian existence for His steadfast love to cover me, I just need to trust God with my life. Lord that I would trust you more each day, that all of us would live a life full of trusting YOU with our futures & hopes & dreams! You care!

    1. Dee says:

      Yes! Love this.

all you who wait for the Lord!

  35. Monica says:

I wish they set this up so the psalms would still be on Sunday’s. It seems like that would be easy to do.

  36. April says:

7 I will be glad and rejoice in your love,
    for you saw my affliction
and knew the anguish of my soul.
8 You have not given me into the hands of the enemy
but have set my feet in a spacious place.
From psalm 31. Great verses to battle temptation

  37. Courtney says:

Amen! I use these Psalms as battle cries!

  38. Gabrielle says:

7 I will be glad and rejoice in your love,
    for you saw my affliction
and knew the anguish of my soul.
8 You have not given me into the hands of the enemy
but have set my feet in a spacious place.
    From psalm 31.
Recently these have been some of my favorite verses. They have comforted me and motivated me. I know that God can move me through his word and I pray for clarity to find that spacious place.

  39. ccade says:

The reading from Psalm 32:1-5 was a powerful reminder of the great burden of sin and the freedom that comes with Salvation through repentance. A glimpse of the glorious Gospel!

  40. Bry says:

psalm 32:9 really spoke to me. all so often we listen to what other people say and dont research it for ourselves. it could be the truth, it might not. don’t just follow what others say about the Bible or Our God. dive into the truth yourself. seek it out for yourself. so you know it’s the truth and so you can come to understand those truths and aren’t mindlessly believing something bc you were told to. (trust me, if your preachers and teachers are humble, they will want you to do the same. they realize they are human)

    1. Candi says:

This is the lesson that God is really teaching me. Your relationship is with Him. Get to know Him. The church is to be a support as we follow Jesus, but you really need to be focused on your own personal study of scripture.

  41. Savannah says:

    Psalm 31:13-14
The world conspires against me, tries to hurt me, throws everything it has at me BUT I will TRUST in the Lord!! He will take care of me!

  42. Bev Brandon says:

I’ve read the Bible through again and again. But I feel like I’m reading it for the very first time! The God who flung that moon tonight. The God who spoke the whole world into existence. Counseling me while His Loving Eye is on me as I lay my head on my pillow in the midst of longings and loss. Psalm 32:8

    1. Niki says:

      Amen!

  43. Parker Nelson says:

I like how the psalmist meets us where we are and writes for our benefit.

  44. Amanda says:

Thankful for Sunday’s and for psalms.

  45. Cecalee says:

9 Do not be like the horse or the mule,
    which have no understanding
but must be controlled by bit and bridle
or they will not come to you.

This spoke to me so completely! How often do we wear certain clothes and act certain way because of celebrities and idolize. I am learning quickly that, that is not a fulfilling life. Family, love from the Lord and put loved ones is all we need. God provides it all, we don’t need to seek anything else from anybody!

  46. Antimony says:

31:19 “How great is Your goodness, which You have stored up for those who fear You, which You have wrought for those who take refuge in You”. The psalmist talks about the goodness of God. He has it stored up. Ready to pour out on those who fear Him. Talk about abundance. If He can store it up, He has plenty available. Plenty to respond and meet needs. Plenty. And He talks about people taking refuge in God. Hiding in Him for protection. Finding safety. And goodness. And mercy. And love.

  47. Libby says:

I love how we all share what God has spoken to us through His Word and how everyone backs us up on what we shared :)

  48. Hannah Wentland says:

thankful today that we have a God who is so good and will wash away our sins, no matter how bad they seem.

  49. Trish says:

Thank you Lord, I love Psalm Sundays!!!!

  50. Carrie says:

Praying for you right now Caroline

  51. Caroline says:

These psalms are so good. I have some intense needs for prayers. I have some intense stuff going on in my life and I am dealing with horrible anxiety. I haven’t slept longer than four hours in days and I’ve prayed for peace and it hasn’t come. Please pray that God can give peace to my soul.

    1. Leah Swindon says:

Praying for you Caroline. When I get anxiety, I lean on 1 Peter 5:7, as well as the psalms. “Cast your anxiety on Him, because he cares for you.” I hope that helps a little..

    2. Runningmama says:

Praying for you now, Caroline. Our God is a God of peace and comfort. Praying you feel his presence now. “You hem me in, behind and before, you lay your hand upon me. Such knowledge is too wonderful for me, it is high, I cannot attain it.” Psalm 139:5-6

    3. Aia Atienza says:

In the same situation. Hold on to God’s unfailing love. Praying for you. :)

      1. Bev Brandon says:

Praying for you tonight, Aia. Love your heart here.

    4. Emily says:

Prayed for you! May the Lord give you peace .

    5. Bev Brandon says:

Praying for you Caroline! You are in a good place every day in His Word. May these words today be so true for you. His Eye is on you! Ps 32:8. Your Advocate knows and is working good toward you. Sending love.

    6. Sarah says:

I pray one year later for you this morning. I hope that your prayers were answered. ❤️

  52. Bekah says:

    1″Blessed is the one
    whose transgressions are forgiven,
    whose sins are covered.
    2 Blessed is the one
whose sin the Lord does not count against them
and in whose spirit is no deceit.

5 Then I acknowledged my sin to you
and did not cover up my iniquity.
    I said, “I will confess
    my transgressions to the Lord.”
    And you forgave
    the guilt of my sin.

I’m just acknowledging the fact that this is (or can be) every single one of us! We all sin but can all be forgiven in only a moment if we are humble enough to confess our sin to the Lord and repent – and He calls us blessed in return! We do not serve a God who holds grudges or repays us for every wrong we do. We serve a God who is eager to forgive our sin and welcome us back into His loving arms. I have lately been struggling heavily with the guilt of my own sin and I am so comforted to read these verses and know that He does not call me condemned, but instead He called me blessed, redeemed, loved, forgiven, and the list goes on….

    1. Debbie says:

Thanks so much for sharing, Bekah. I too sometimes struggle with guilt over sins (some that happened over 25 years ago)! I know in my heart I’m forgiven but sometimes my head says “you wretched terrible person”. I know God desires a broken and contrite spirit but once we are repentant and forgiven we ought to rejoice! Anyway, thanks for the post.

      1. April says:

The devil tries to make us feel guilty as a way to try to get us away from God satan condemns us and tries to make us think we’re not good enough for God because of our shame! But praise God that we dont have to be good enough the lord takes us as we are he gives us grace and forgives our sins Grace is his gift to us not earned by any good deeds or works just given to us thru his love

  53. Heather says:

We are not like the horse or mule who need to be controlled by the “bit” of rules and religion, but rather directed by the loving voice of our Father (psalm 32:8-9)

  54. Julia says:

    I love Psalms 31:2!

  55. jules10 says:

thank you Jennifer for that quote, “when joy is a habit love is a reflex”! can you tell me where you found it and who said it?

    1. Jennifer says:

Yes! Bob Goff :) He also wrote the book “love does” which I highly recommend.

  56. Jennifer says:

    11 Be glad in the Lord and rejoice, you righteous ones;
And shout for joy, all you who are upright in heart.

A resounding amen! Be glad, rejoice always. We have the Lord! I read a quote recently — when joy is a habit, loving people is a reflex. ❤️ The Lord fills us to the brim with gladness and joy.

    1. Julia says:

      I love that quote!

    2. Linnea Lyding says:

      Great quote! Thanks for sharing!

    3. Amber says:

I was just reading something similar last night. Joy is also our consolation from God when we face problems so He is equipping is to better love when we let Him fill us with joy instead of grief

  57. Britt Biddinger says:

I love how many Psalms have been adapted into modern worship music, because when I read them I often get a song stuck in my head that will remind me to have a worshipping spirit all day!
“…Have faith and be strong/all you who hope in the LORD/hope in the LORD…”

    1. Britt Biddinger says:

I just realized I totally messed up those lyrics it’s really “be strong & take heart/” not “have faith and be strong” please forgive it’s spring ahead & I’m not quite recovered from the loss of an hour lol

      1. Leah Swindon says:

Haha, me too! But I agree with you..I often get a worship song stuck in my head after these readings!

  58. Becky says:

We’re in a really tough ministry on the mission field. Lots of fiery darts thrown at us. It seems almost every week something new happens that makes people angry with us. It encourages me so much to read the last part of psalm 31. Many times we question if we’re in the right place, but we can always know that “the Lord preserves all those who are true to Him.” What a blessing to read that today!

    1. Katie Hentges says:

Becky, praying for your ministry and for you all.. That you would be continually strengthened by God and that he supplies your physical, mental, spiritual, emotional needs.

      1. Becky says:

Thank you so much, Katie. That means a lot that you would pray when you don’t even know me :)

  59. I love how these verses seem to coincide with today’s weekly truth in the lent study

  60. Aia Atienza says:

Unfailing love. How secured I feel when I read it all over Psalms today!
