The more I turn to God and open my eyes to all of the billboard sign blessings in front of me, I see these days in my life where I’m filled with joy, and wear this shield of God that makes me feel his power of authority to stomp all over the enemy and sing thanks for all He is and who He says I am.

I’ve been feeling really stressed out and down about things that aren’t going the way I wanted them., but reading this scripture just reminds me that god can turn anything bad into good. He can change our sadness into gladness and he’s always on our side. Looking after us and even if things aren’t going the way we want, they’re going the way he wants and he won’t let us down. It’s really changed my mood :)

    3 God thunders across the waters,
    Brilliant, his voice and his face, streaming brightness —
    God, across the flood waters.

    4 God’s thunder tympanic,
    God’s thunder symphonic.

    5 God’s thunder smashes cedars,
    God topples the northern cedars.

    6 The mountain ranges skip like spring colts,
    The high ridges jump like wild kid goats.

    7-8 God’s thunder spits fire.
    God thunders, the wilderness quakes;
    He makes the desert of Kadesh shake.

    9 God’s thunder sets the oak trees dancing
    A wild dance, whirling; the pelting rain strips their branches.
    We fall to our knees — we call out, “Glory!”

    10 Above the floodwaters is God’s throne
    from which his power flows,
    from which he rules the world.

    11 God makes his people strong.
    God gives his people peace.

    God is everywhere and he is with us all the time. No matter what season, he is present.

  78. Cheyanne G says:

    in him my heart trusts, and I am helped;
    my heart exults,
    and with my song I give thanks to him.

    I’m finished putting my trust in things that don’t last. He hears my longings, and he is the one who gives me strength.

    and in his temple all cry, “Glory!”

  82. Biz says:

  83. KK says:

    “To you, O Lord, I call; my rock, be not deaf to me, lest, if you be silent to me, I become like those who go down to the pit.” – Psalms 28:1
    I believe that the worst thing that can ever happen in a person’s life is God’s absence. Christians have the assurance of future glory through Jesus Christ, the love of the Father, and the help of the Holy Spirit. God’s discipline and tests are worth bearing because we know He is with us.

  84. Clara says:

    6 Blessed be the Lord!
    For he has heard the voice of my pleas for mercy.
    7 The Lord is my strength and my shield;
    in him my heart trusts, and I am helped;
    my heart exults,
    and with my song I give thanks to him.
    I am having a really difficult time with making really important decisions at the minute regarding school which will affect the rest of my life. I cry out to God for guidance and he provides a great comfort for me. I continue to pray that he will direct me along the right path.

  98. Cristen says:

    I’m not sure I understand, is verse 1 saying that if you can’t head God talking to you, it means you will burn in Hell? That’s what I’m getting at least. I’m new at this, I’m not sure how this is supposed to work

    1. Heidi Wray says:

      No I think it means that you need to be with God. Be silent and listen to Him not the voices of our culture. Does that make sense?

    with flashes of lightning.

    9 The voice of the Lord twists the oaks
    and strips the forests bare.
    And in his temple all cry, “Glory!”

    5 For his anger lasts only a moment,
    but his favor lasts a lifetime;
    weeping may stay for the night,
    but rejoicing comes in the morning.

    9 “What is gained if I am silenced,
    if I go down to the pit?
    Will the dust praise you?
    Will it proclaim your faithfulness?
    10 Hear, Lord, and be merciful to me;
    Lord, be my help.”
    11 You turned my wailing into dancing;
    you removed my sackcloth and clothed me with joy,
    12 that my heart may sing your praises and not be silent.
    Lord my God, I will praise you forever.

    God bless all of you. This is my first time commenting but, I felt compelled to let you that do comment each day know that you have helped me grow as a Christian. There have been many times when I feel confused about what I have read in scripture but reading all of your comments, I am able to get some understanding.
    Psalm 30, really spoke to me since I have dealt with depression for most of my life. I pray that anyone who is going through hard times, will turn to the Lord. He has lifted me up and through His unfailing love I have overcome some dark times.
    I will pray for all of you and ask that you all pray for my community. If you haven’t seen or heard about the tragedy in Texas County, Missouri, please know we need your prayers. Thank you, and may God bless each and every one of you ladies!

  118. Antimony says:

    Psalm 30:5 “For His anger is but for a moment, His favor is for a lifetime; Weeping may last for the night, But a shout of joy comes in the morning”. I feel like I’ve been stuck in the first part of this verse for such a long time.

  119. kk_berly says:

    I so needed these Psalms today. According to the Hospice nurses, Mom’s time here is limited, maybe even to hours. I have read on praying for miracles, condemning what is here that is not of heaven, like cancer and pain. I believe in my soul in her healing. Yet, evil satan keeps trying to stick his doubt in my head and make my faith waiver. As I set here with my precious Moma, waiting for her to wake & rejoice in our miracle, I needed these words of God’s love, strength, and power.

    1. Christine says:

      Praying for you!

    2. Leah Swindon says:

      I’m praying for you..your words were my words a year ago with my mom. God will give you a peace in all of this if you let him..hugs.

        Thank you both!

    3. Liz says:

      I will keep you and your mother in my prayers and thoughts. I know how difficult watching someone you love suffer can be.

  120. Kariellen says:

    So glad I downloaded this app this morning! My mom has battled depression all her life and so have I. I went to bed last night praying to God to bring my mom peace. Yesterday was just a gloomy day for her, and nothing I could say or do would help. Then this morning I read “Weeping may spend the night,
    but there is joy in the morning.” God hears what our hearts cry out for even when we cannot get the words out of our mouths. Thank you God for your word! Just wanted to share:)

    1. Ashlee Eames says:

      Your story made me tear up! Praying for you and your mother!

  121. Britt Biddinger says:

    It always stands out to me that in the Psalms we’re never called to wait before we praise. David doesn’t say “once you rescue me, I’ll praise you.” He says, over and over, “Lord, I will always praise you. I will praise you no matter what’s happening, no matter what I feel or see or think, I trust that you are the Most High and Worthy of Praise!” I long for more of that attitude.

    1. Christine says:

      O yes, thank you for sharing this! :)

    2. Kristin says:

      Exactly Britt! I love that :)

    3. Sarina says:

      Amen!

  122. Kristin says:

    When you read Psalms 29 you get the sense of God’s power and strength. “The voice of The Lord breaks, shakes, strikes and twists”. Then when you get to the last verse it says “The Lord gives strength to His people, The Lord blesses his people with peace”. I believe that this is a glance of what the strength that God gives us looks like. I picture Him breaking, shaking, striking and twisting all of my insecurities, worry and doubt. I also picture myself speaking Truth over these areas. I picture myself not giving up, still pressing on, going after God and what that looks like. Shouting at the enemy speaking The Word over whatever my situation may be in my God given authority. Those areas start to break and crumble into dust. But sadly and foolishly, often I don’t seek His strength and I often forget that He’s even given me strength. It’s RIGHT there, but too often I rely on my own ways and flesh. The fear, insecurities may be masked for a minute but they will never be destroyed unless I rely and seek the strength He has given me. Forgive me Lord! You love us and long to fight for us!

  123. Anna says:

    What sticks out to me so much in these Psalms is how desperate He is to hear from the Lord. He knows what it’s like when God goes silent David recognizes how hard life is without God when he runs away from Him or gets distracted from Him. I want to have a heart like David that clings to the Lord to get through the day that I might have w heart like David that rejoices at the glory of the Lord.

  124. Elisha says:

    Ps 30:5 “For his anger lasts only a moment, but his favor lasts a lifetime; weeping may stay for the night, but rejoicing comes in the morning.” Oh how I need to hear this and remember it every day! My son is battling addiction and struggling to put his life together. I cry for him and mourn the loss of the son that has been taken away from me – the son who finished college, started a career and a family of his own. Will not this sorrow ever end? I weep, but I can trust that there will an end. And I am in His favor. He sustains me by his grace, and even if this sorrow lasts the rest of my earthly life, it is just the blink of an eye.

      Amen, thank you for those encouraging words. Reading what you shared reminded me of a verse that Paul speaks of our earthly, momentary lightness of affliction compared to the weight of eternal glory. We just need to keep our eyes on Jesus, continually thanking Him and rejoicing regardless.

      1. Elisha says:

        what, no like button? thanks Jennifer!

    2. Lauren says:

      Heavenly Father, please hear Elisha’s cries and help her and her son through this dark time. Be near to them and let them feel your presence and love. Let Elisha’s son know he is never lost to you, or to her and help him overcome his particular daemons. Thank you for wonderful facilities and support groups and all your people who do such wonderful work in helping people like Elisha’s son. When he is ready let him find the earthly support that he needs. Amen. Big big hugs to you Elisha. I hope you don’t mind me publishing my prayer for you on here, I was going to write it down in my journal as I usually do, but I wanted you to know what I had prayed rather than me just telling you I had. ❤️

      1. Elisha says:

        thank you. your prayer is a channel of God’s grace, which sustains me fully and fills me to the brim with hope. I pray that others will be touched by your prayer as well.

  125. Julie says:

    All such wonderful psalms of praise and worship and thanksgiving. Glory to God!

  126. Lydia says:

    I’m back! I was out of commission for the last couple of days, but I’m ready to catch up. I am so thankful how a deep presence in the Word has allowed me to maintain identity in Christ even when the circumstances around me fluctuate! Oh what a wonderful Savior!

    Also, these passages remind me of the old worship song, “O Taste and See.” Anyone else?

  127. Joselyn says:

    “7 The Lord is my strength and my shield;
    my heart trusts in him, and he helps me.
    My heart leaps for joy,
    and with my song I praise him.

    2 Lord my God, I called to you for help,
    and you healed me.”

    These two verses moved me to tears. I am recently finding my way back to God and it feels so good. I truly feel blessed. God has never left me and when I cry out to Him; he lifts me up every time. He has forgiven me of my sins and is working through me. I’m truly blessed and so happy to be finding my way back to Christ.

    1. Brittnie says:

      So happy for you Joselyn!!

    2. Elisha says:

      I want to give you a big squishy hug, Joselyn!

    3. Angela says:

      Rejoicing for you, Joselyn.

    4. Hesaved83 says:

      Welcome home, Joselyn!!!

    5. Jamie Jones says:

      I, too, am finding my way back to God. I have found that when I stray from church, I tend to stray from God. I let small things prevent me from going to church, and I don’t know why. I always feel better when I go.

      I need God in my life. I am under so much stress and I have so much going on that I often wonder how I can possibly add another thing to my life. ….and then I think about how God sent his son, Jesus, to die on a cross for ME. Can I not give Him a little bit of time each day?

      I pray every night, and I thank God for all He does before I pray, but it is automatic and I try to rush through prayer. I am going to make a commitment to praising Him with intent each time before I pray. I am also going to ask Him to guide me each and every day, that I follow His will and be true to Him.

      1. Penny says:

        Your post resonated with me so just thought I’d encourage you that regardless of your day Jamie, and how much you do or don’t pray- God’s love for you is unchanging and he remains our good, good father… And Jesus has paid the price for your sin once and for all on the cross. Not to take away any of our responsibility in prioritising God (it’s so easy to let life get in the way and I’m yet to meet a christian happy with their prayer life) but it’s also important to know that regardless of how you’re feeling about your faith God is unchanging, as his love for you. Thanks for sharing.

  128. Eliza says:

    12That my soul may sing praise to You and not be silent. O Lord my God, I will give thanks to You forever.

    Oh how my soul wants to cry out to the Lord and promise the Lord just this! That I would praise Him and give thanks forever; never silencing and never despairing. Yet, how many mornings do I rise for prayer and launch right in with my list of worries which have woken me up in the night, or my burdens and struggles which I just want taken away this instant, or even just with a complaint of “Lord, I’m tired. I just need to get through this day.” This is not what my soul desires! My soul which has been redeemed and claimed by the mighty God of the universe wants to always praise her Saviour. However, my broken humanness forgets this and so my little heart is more preoccupied with *me* and my problems than with the Mighty King who has come from Heaven to be with and speak to me in my time of prayer. This short time which I have laid aside for Him becomes filled with me. I hope I am the only person here who experiences this…but I have a feeling I’m not. Today I want to start changing this. Lord, please give me a heart like David’s to praise and thank you in every moment. Before I pour out to you the struggles and needs of my heart, which I know you want to hear and and heal, let me pour out joyful praise to you. God loves me! What excuse do I have not to praise him?

    1. Becky says:

      Amen! Thanks for sharing this. I, too, struggle with getting through “my list” in the morning instead of simply basking in His presence and praising God for who He is. May my soul sing His praises all day long!

    2. Elisha says:

      oh no, this poor soul is experiencing the same struggle beside you. I feel as if I leave my Lord behind as soon as I rise from this corner of the sofa whre I have sat ar his feet and adored him. thank you for wording this humble prayer; I pray with you.

    3. Angela says:

      I struggle with this too. It’s hard to praise Him in difficult times. Easy to praise Him in good times.

    4. Sara Coppola says:

      Yes! We all do it, for sure. I’ve actually been trying to work on this the past few days. A few days ago my mom and I prayed together (she prayed out loud since I’m terrible at it) and even though it was a quick, time-sensitive prayer, she made a point to thank and praise Him before lifting up her request to Him. It really convicted me and your comment confirmed that conviction!

    5. Christina D. says:

      Eliza this happened to me just as I was reading the passage today! I started reading and even though my eyes were reading the words my mind and heart were thinking of errands I need to do and whether or not I needed to pack extra food for our afternoon outing today. I had to restart the passage at least three times before I forced myself to just stop, close my eyes, and ask the Lord to help me focus on His word. Thank you for the reminder to first and foremost praise. I will be remembering this in the days to come before I start reading to lift up and prayer of praise. Thank you Lord for the blessing of this study and community to help us relate to each other in struggles and also to lift each other up in encouragement and prayer!

    6. Jenna says:

      Amen! I too want a heart like David’s. Must stop making it about me and focus solely on HE and His goodness!!!

    7. Janna says:

      Ah, this is so easy to do. That is part of the reason I try to have hymns or some kind of Christian music playing throughout my day. It not only gets my thoughts off myself, but it gives me a way to worship my Savior all day.

  129. Lauren says:

    “6 When I was secure, I said,
    “I will never be shaken.”
    7 Lord, when You showed Your favor,
    You made me stand like a strong mountain;
    when You hid Your face, I was terrified.”

    I really relate to this – when I feel strong I really believe I could never doubt God, but the minute faith gets hard again, I’m a quivering, doubting mess.

    I’m really enjoying the Psalms on Sundays. I’ve never really been able to get through so many before I’ve hit emotion-fatigue. I love this, though.
