Scripture Reading: 2 Thessalonians 2:13-17, 2 Thessalonians 3:1-5, Psalm 22:25-31, Matthew 26:36-46, Hebrews 12:1-2, James 5:7-11
This Is the New Testament is part of a twelve-week thematic overview of the entire Bible. As we read, we’ll gain a broader understanding of the redemptive story of Scripture. Each day we’ll read a thematic selection from a different book of the Bible, along with supplemental passages that show how the theme of that day’s main reading is found throughout Scripture. We’ll also read a brief summary of each book and a reflection on how the book fits into the larger story of Scripture. This week, we’ll continue reading the Pauline Epistles.
The Book of 2 Thessalonians: A follow-up to Paul’s first letter to the church in Thessalonica, the book of 2 Thessalonians offers further clarification on how to live the Christian life in light of Christ’s promised return. This letter calls believers to stand firm in their faith, following Christ’s example.
How 2 Thessalonians Fits into the Story: Second Thessalonians continues the themes found in 1 Thessalonians: persecution, sanctification, and the second coming of Jesus. The letter proclaims that salvation in Christ, though already true, will be ultimately fulfilled when He comes again, overthrowing evil and bringing rest and glory. This letter reminds us that God loves His people and gives them great comfort and hope, even in the midst of persecution.

Reflection Questions:
1. How does Christ’s endurance provide you with hope in your current circumstances?
He’s the perfect example for us to think of in hard times and to continue to follow whether we’re having good or bad times. It keeps me putting one foot in front of the other.
2. How does today’s reading shape your understanding of the story of redemption?
That we have to keep pushing forward. We have to keep moving in the best direction we can.
Question 1: How does Christ’s endurance provide you with hope in your current circumstances? Jesus really provides me with His example to follow by the example He set before me. Christ story isn’t just any ordinary story it is THE GREATSET story of all and my firm foundation of my hope. Jesus felt the weight of all the struggles and the emotions that we feel He PAID IT ALL IN FULL. I will follow by His example that He set before me to follow, not to follow my own heart, or my own feelings, neither my own understanding, but following His Way to God my Father, the Creator of all things on Heaven and earth. I really need to learn how to trade my will for His will ALL THE TIME NO MATTER WHAT. My hope is found in my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, in knowing that He perfectly faced overcame and granted me a relationship with Him.
How does todays reading shape your understanding of redemption? We find true redemption in our Lord Jesus Christ that made the ultimate sacrifice for you and I. He payed the debt you and I owed He took all of our sins and burrried them in the grave defeating sin once and for all we need to rest in Christ’s finshed work.
Amen
Reflection Questions:
1. How does Christ’s endurance provide you with hope in your current circumstances? He really gives me an example to follow. Christ’s story is not just an inspiring story. It is my insurance policy and the foundation of my Hope. He paid it all. His example I will follow, not to follow my heart, my feelings, my understanding, but to follow Him for He is the Way to the Father, the Creator of Heaven and earth. I must learn to trade my will for His will (ongoing). This I wrestle with a lot, because most/all of the time His will is for me to lay down what my flesh wants. My hope comes from knowing that Christ has perfectly endured, overcome and granted me the Helper in my times of weakness.
.
2. How does today’s reading shape your understanding of the story of redemption? We are redeemed through the ultimate sacrifice of Christ. “He remembers we are dust” (Psalm 103:14). God is not surprised by our weakness. I used to beat myself up so bad whenever I failed (religion conditioned mindset). His top 3 disciples also fell asleep in the darkest hour, and also the 10 virgins when waiting for the return of the bridegroom fell asleep (both the wise and the foolish). Human exhaustion and sorrow can really trip us up. God knows that so well, He is not disillusioned by our weakness. This really set me free from the trap that legalism has set me in, with so much guilt and negative emotions. And He gave us the ONE that could endure sorrow, temptation, in the darkest night and wouldn’t fall asleep. This is where the beauty of redemption shines so bright. He fulfilled Psalm 121:4, “Indeed, he who watches over Israel will neither slumber nor sleep”. He stood firm as the ultimate watchman and the redeemer for our souls. My redemption does not lie in my ability to stay awake (amen ADRIENNE, i would fall asleep 100% too), but the fact that He already endured successfully. All thanks be to God. He is truly the Perfect Lamb. And as SEARCHING was saying, how can we not devote our best to Him?

2 Thessalonians 3:3 But the Lord is faithful; he will strengthen you and guard you from the evil one.

Dear She’s
I’ve been trying to update, but it’s been a crazy time. Tom is out of ICU in a room. It was a parade of medical folks in and out all day yesterday. We may get discharged today!! I still can’t take in these days since Friday. Our nurse granddaughter from TX flew home today for her job. We hadn’t told Tom that he coded and they had us say our goodbyes. He has already told me before leaving ICU that he had prayed and repented again. Yesterday, through many tears, he told us that he saw himself dead. That he was floating above the room. He saw everything they were doing in both ICUs. He said it was like an endless eternal damnation. That it was playing over and over. He heard the nurse say that they could remove the vent and make him comfortable. He heard his son say dad wouldn’t want to be kept on life support. He said he cried out to the Lord and repented again. I asked if he felt like that was salvation and he said it was just assurance that he was ready. Moments later he was stable and able to be transported. He has witnessed to everyone he could and prayed with several nurses. It has been amazing and we are just so grateful to the Lord. And he finally agreed he will let me have an 80th bday party in Oct. We will go back to our son’s in Coos Bay to recuperate a couple weeks before flying home to TX. He is still 70% blocked on left side, so at least one more Stent in the future. I am so overwhelmed with gratitude! Thank you for your prayers!
What news and answers to prayer.
Oh my. That is a supernatural repentance. Praise the Lord for his mercies.
What a powerful testimony, Susan! Somethung similar happened to a friend if mine. She said she was completely at peace and then they got her heart going again. Like Tom, she was reassured that she is ready whenever her time does come.
.
Continued prayers for recovery and placement of the next stent. ❤
That’s amazing, Praise God and his mercies and grace! I LOVE that he told everyone and prayed with nurses.
Having just lost a close family member that we question salvation, so many people claim it is peaceful when they see themselves above. But we know judgement comes for unrependtive people.
My goodness, Susan. What a miracle. So thankful!! A pastor named John Burke wrote a book full of Near Death Experiences called Imagine Heaven; Tom’s story sounds like it fits in with the book.
A-M-A-Z-ING testimony! Oh my goodness, forgive me, Oh HIS goodness, The LORD is good, always.
Continued prayers for the next stage, recuperation and the next stent..❤️❤️❤️
Thank you, sisters, for your prayers for Mom’s appointment yesterday. I felt them. AND she was out of bed this time… (However I DID call her when I left my house!) Your prayers also help me be strong, when I need to step back and let HER make decisions and do stuff. Control of the situation is really my fear coming through. I need to remember that He chooses me; He calls me; He strengthens me; and He saves me. The 2 Thess. readings really helped me this morning, but I would do well to call them to mind ALWAYS!
.
The Matthew reading slayed me. I feel like the disciples that fell asleep THREE times. Do I abandon Him as well? Sometimes, I really do.
“Do I abandon Him as well? Sometimes, I really do.“
Same.
Father, please help us and forgive us.
Slayed me…(love that phrasing)! Do I abandon Him as well, fall asleep, half-heartily serve, to lazy to get ready for church?
I feel like I have such a long way to go. I am redeemed by Christ but far from the representative of him I want to be. This letter gives me hope. I am a work in progress.
Same ❤️
Reading 2 Thessalonians made me feel like being wrapped up in loving arms and given a big hug. So encouraging and heart warming. So many thoughts running through my head. Jesus in the Garden praying made me think of a scene from “The Chosen” of Jesus, after an exhausting day of healing and tending to the multitudes, praying to his Father. I get weepy just thinking about that scene. Hebrews reminded me that running my own race with endurance would sometimes call me to run ALONGSIDE another in need.
Finally… James mention of a framer watching patiently over his crops found me mentally inspecting my own personal garden at home. Humming or sing to myself while deciding…What needs pruning, what should be dead-headed, what needs feeding or watering. All these thoughts this morning gave me joy and caused me to pause in thankful prayer along the way. A good morning spent in impromptu worship. Blessings and prayers for all She’s.
❤️
Beautiful notes, Cindy! ❤
(HEART)
Navigating this current season of my life is a heavy and vulnerable journey, but Christ’s endurance serves as a beautiful anchor. Jesus demonstrated raw fear and sadness, showing that He comprehends the human desire to shield the heart from further pain. He sought comfort in His disciplines, choosing not to stay awake with Him during His darkest hour. Hebrews 12:2 reminds us that Jesus endured the cross by looking ahead, reminding us that low seasons can feel fragile and terrifying. However, our ultimate story is securely held by a God who promises that grief never has the final word. As Christ endured the absolute depth of human brokenness, He doesn’t expect us to muster strength to survive a season. Instead, He invites us to rest in His strength through every moment of that low season, anxiety, and fear.
“… He doesn’t expect us to muster strength to survive a season. Instead, He invites us to rest in His strength through every moment of that low season, anxiety, and fear.”
❤️
Stand firm, hold fast. God loves us and has given us eternal encouragement and good hope. Oh how I needed these reminders today!
.
Be blessed Sisters – you are in my heart and prayers. ❤️

1. My hope in my current circumstances is that I KNOW He’s coming back for us! Our troubles are not forever. I need to remind myself (as I am right this moment) that it’s just like Labor Pains…those pains are not forever and the OUTCOME is one of the most wonderful life experience on this earth. And thinking of my sisters who have not experienced this and are in the waiting…Please know OUR Jesus sees YOU!
2. My JESUS. OUR Jesus is coming back! I believe this promise and can’t wait!
Thank you for praying for me regarding the letter to my mom. After I gave it to her my daughter and I ran errands. When we got home there was a STRONG smell of something that had gotten burnt. I feel all the attention went to that! Not going to get into detail, but it’s something she has done in the past and was brought to her attention not only by me but my siblings as well. Needless to say, I received no response from her regarding the letter until yesterday when it was “briefly” mentioned, very briefly, and I received no apology in return. That was hard! I took a DEEP BREATHE. I have to remind myself I did my part, however my human nature would of loved an apology as her actions were very hurtful, but that’s just my human nature and I have to be okay with it. Meanwhile, (God is so good) my son came home last night for a short over night visit. We are going for coffee this morning and I’m so happy to make breakfast for the us. I’m going to miss making meals for my kiddos.

Partial lyrics:
Your promises are yes and amen
We confidently call You Friend
You keep us in the palm of Your hand
We find our joy in You
Your steadfast love extends
To every generation
On Your words we can depend
You are full of truth
On Your words we can depend
You are full of truth
God is high and lifted up
Seated on the throne
Holy holy
God is near to all who call
His love has paid it all
For me for me
Death is swallowed up in victory
Jesus has declared that I am free
Our King reigns with all authority
Salvation is in His name
Our King reigns with all authority
Salvation is in His name

Praying for renewed hope for both you and your husband as he seeks employment. We have been in this same situation multiple times and I know it can feel so hopeless and discouraging. I pray for the Lords provision in all areas in your life and that just the right thing will come along soon.
❤️❤️❤️
Thank you for your prayers and encouragement ladies. I will be listening on audio Bible to Psalm 139 today, Jane, thank you for posting it. That is one of my favorites. :)
I did leave a reply for Tina- stating I had peace about not going to the wedding and feeling led by the Lord not to go- this was a decision I made months ago. It is best for the situation, as unfair as it is, and better for my mental health. I was mainly asking for prayer for my heart, not to change any of my circumstances. ❤️ appreciate your love and concern, though.
My web browser doesn’t allow me to leave more than one reply for some reason. So I just wanted to say thank you here ❤️ God bless you, She’s.
You are always on my heart and in my prayers Michelle. ❤️
Thank you so much Sharon ❤️❤️❤️
Michelle, I am sorry if I overstepped with my comment. I was not meaning any harm or to cause upset. I felt an injustice in the in the situation based on the information given, now I know a bit more, I get it. Again I’m sorry for any upset caused,
Much love and prayers for your heart to know peace, find joy, and for the hurt and pain to heal by and in His Grace and Mercy, and for the ‘down’ to be uplifted..❤️
It makes me sad when I see that Jesus disciples continue to fall asleep when he asked them not to and when he needed them most. However, how many times have I failed Jesus? Countless times. It really puts things into perspective. Thank you jesus, for dying on the cross so that i, a sinner can spend eternal life with you.
Everyone’s comments so timely! Praying we will stand firm in our faith either Jesus as our example.
I’ve felt something off in my spirit lately, but here is what I know, I keep looking to God and praying about it, God will answer! I can say this confidently because He always answers when I cry out to Him. I ask Him to show me what is wrong and He does every time!
❤️
He is a good listener, thank you Father God..❤️
Oh how we need the continual speech of persevere- don’t quit, don’t give up, don’t become discouraged…! We can do this. No..we can do this through Jesus!
It is never hopeless with Him! He is light in the darkness!
The Bible gives us the hope that we say through all the profits and characters of the Bible. God was with them all- in the Lion’s den, at the edge of the Red Sea, in the fire, , facing a giant, in a whale, in the pit…these seemed hopeless…BUT God! He would do miracles!
When all seemed lost like Job, David, and Paul. They were used in powerful ways! Mary…scared, alone, disgraced- But would bring about the Messiah in the flesh!
Lazarus Dead. Can you imagine Mary and Martha- Yet, Jesus would raise a dead man to life. A daughter of a man…back to life.
The lady suffering with a disease or condition…bleeding for 12 years…only needed to touch the hem of the garment.
We have to read the stories of old, to know we have a story. And it’s never going to be all rosy. No, it’s gonna be a good story with turns and twists, highs and lows, and most importantly Worth sharing! To encourage others. To know our God is weaving it all together to make a glorious picture of his Mercy and Grace AND LOVE.
It is indeed the story of redemption!! Praise God that we can trust, and know of his Glory! Working all things for the good of those who love him. Let us be so thankful that our life reflects it!
“It is never hopeless with Him! He is light in the darkness!”
amen! ❤
Made me think of the parable of the persistent widow. ❤️
It is only through reading over and over about perseverance in the Bible that I made it through all that I have.
I know! We HAVE to keep reading ALL the examples, over and over that God was with them all.
What truth, Rhonda, thank you.. ❤️
Grateful this week for the various reminders that the Lord has been giving about prayer. From Paul’s words yesterday reminding us to “pray constantly” to today’s reminder that Jesus didn’t just pray once in the garden but three times, I am struck by the way that continuing to pray connects with the call to endure in Christ. Prayer is not a “one and done” and I DON’T need to feel bad for reaching out to God with the same prayer over again – in fact, prayer is a vital part of keeping my heart “in line” with Christ. Calling upon the Lord helps me remember His promises and it reorients my heart, giving me the strength to endure (in this case, continuing to endure the trials of potty training with patience… phew).
Amen, Kira!
lol, you made me laugh there at the end. I was just with my 2 great nieces for 2 weeks (4 & 2) and they were both still working on it! We had a poopy story that will go down in history as the most crazy, funny, awful all at once…with me the only one with them!!
The power of Prayer–good word for us!
lol❤️
Such good thoughts Kira . And at the end… So funny! The struggle is real! In the same boat with a 3yr old grandson.
It is well, because HE is near.. always even in the potty training..❤️

Jesus is our model of endurance. Hebrews 12:2: “keeping your eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of our faith. For the joy that lay before him, he endured the cross, despising the shame, and sat down on the right hand of the throne of God.
Turn your eyes upon Jesus,
Look full in His wonderful face;
And the things of earth will grow strangely dim,
In the light of His glory and grace.
Be encouraged Shes. Jesus did not come just so we would have something to talk about in Sunday school! Jesus is actively praying for us. Maybe it was on one of our podcast, Jesus has a very active prayer life and is interceding for us.
❤️
I absolutely love this hymn.. thank you for reminding me how much, TANYA.❤️
The wirds in these passages to press on and keep going is so encouraging to me. Jesus is our greatest example of enduring suffering and affliction and He is our greatest hope even if it seems all is falling apart. I need to be reminded to keep my eyes on Him, to hope in Him.
Words of blessing for today… Amen❤️
May our Lord Jesus Christ himself and God our Father, who has loveda us and given us eternal encouragement and good hope by grace, encourage your hearts and strengthen you in every good work and word.
Yes! Amen! Even if it all seems it’s falling apart. The disciples had watched it all that fateful few days and then saw him put in a tomb…yet Sunday came!! We know the end of the story!
Thank you for these words, Wendy!
Well said, Wendy! ❤
Prayers for you my dear sister. ❤️

Thank you for the prayers for my husband’s job. Having so many others champion heaven on account of him was so touching, and I appreciate each one of you!
Unfortunately, it was another “no” for him this time. It took me some time to get back up after this one, as we so wanted ti to happen this time. But it’s not the first time we’ve made it through several rounds to hear the “no” at the end. We’re holding fast to hope that there must be something else out there for him. Filling out more job applications and continuing to pray. The Lord knew I needed the verses in 2 Thessalonians and James to help strengthen my resolve. The continuous “no’s” while searching has slowly been chipping away our hope, but we cling to the words that “He who promised us is faithful”. (Heb. 10:23)
Some songs that have been giving me encouragement lately as I wait if anyone else needs them too. :)

“Goodness of God” -Cece Winans
“Lord I Need You” -Matt Maher

Well said Ashli. Persevering..not giving up, trusting the Lord when it seems He is not working. We can trust the pieces are being moved just so! Until then, we give thanks for what we DO have!

Ashli, continued prayers for your husband to get that much needed job and for you as you hold fast to the Great Provider, Who truly has promised to be with you and yours in this, and HE will..❤️
If Jesus can trust God’s will even to the point of bearing a cross, then I can trust God to be with me through difficult circumstances!
That should be on a t-shiry! ❤

Good morning my fellow She’s. Aptly timed reflection question for me as I met with my neurosurgeon yesterday morning. As I continue on in the journey of having tumors, this morning reminds I have one who has endured his own hardships and will encourage me in my own.
I have a couple small meningiomas that have been known about since I was first hospitalized. As they are minuscule the neurosurgeon has been monitoring them. In the last year there has been a little growth in two of them. The plan is to monitor them and if they continue to grow I will have one treatment of radiation. I did find a medication I’ve been on since 2012 could be a factor, so I will be speaking to one of my doctors about a change or ending that form of treatment. I so appreciate your prayers for me with the mri and now as I learn my next steps.
Praying, Danielle
Have prayed Danielle that you would continue to look to the Lord in the waiting and wstching and know He never leaves your side. May you feel His presence, guidance, strength & peace❤️
Yes, putting my Amen at the end of this!

Keeping you in my thoughts and prayers Danielle.
Praying for you Danielle! ❤️
Praying indeed, Danielle. ❤️
Holding you close, Danielle in prayers..❤️
Christ’s willingness gets me every time I read these verses in red. He prayed 3 times (at least, 3 recorded in these verses) “O My Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass from Me; nevertheless, not as I will, but as You will” and it brings tears to think of the dread, submission and determination He shows us in these prayers and in His openness to the disciples just prior “My soul is exceedingly sorrowful, even to death.”
And this was all for US! More tears as I sit in the impact of His sacrifice.
How can we not faithfully honor Him, love Him and follow Him as Paul admonishes and encourages the Thessalonians, reminding that the Lord IS faithful and WILL guard us from the evil one.
Let’s remember to get properly dressed everyday, “with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.”

Determination was the word I thought of also. Dread—never really thought about that. I guess I always have in my mind that he was divine and knew the cross was His purpose somehow making it easier.?? But the human side—yes, dread (fear/anxiety/etc). Sweating blood! I feel terrible for the portion of misery I heaped upon Him on the cross, yet so grateful He paid my debt.❤️
A resounding AMEN to your truth-filled, convicting comment my dear Searching.. Thank you..❤️
May we look to Jesus, the Author and Perfecter of our faith who for the joy set before him endured the cross… love these verses. We look to Jesus
Christ’s endurance gives me hope, showing me how to keep looking up when evil and wickedness seems to be winning in this world.
.
Today’s reading shows that the story of my redemption is not a “quick read” but is a part of a larger Storyline that God has written from Eternity Past. My little chapter (or paragraph) only tells a part of the story that God is writing.
.
Praying that the “Lord Jesus Christ himself and God our Father, who has loved us and given us eternal encouragement and good hope by grace, encourage your hearts and strengthen you in every good work and word” today.
“My little chapter (or paragraph) only tells a part of the story that God is writing.”
