Acts 13:27–31

Scripture is God breathed and true. When we memorize it, we carry the good news of Jesus with us wherever we go.

Test your memory of Acts 13:27–31 by either writing out the full passage on paper or typing it as a note into your phone. Then recite it in full, reflecting on all you have learned in your study of the New Testament.

27 Since the residents of Jerusalem and their rulers did not recognize him or the sayings of the prophets that are read every Sabbath, they have fulfilled their words by condemning him. 28 Though they found no grounds for the death sentence, they asked Pilate to have him killed. 29 When they had carried out all that had been written about him, they took him down from the tree and put him in a tomb. 30 But God raised him from the dead, 31 and he appeared for many days to those who came up with him from Galilee to Jerusalem, who are now his witnesses to the people.
—Acts 13:27–31

  9. Rhonda J. says:

It’s really funny that the Religious leaders foolishly did everything that was prophesied about and didn’t even see that! Like they read the scriptures and knew that it said how he would come, would he would do and how he would die….and they played it out, not even seeing it!
    And yet…
we do the same thing, we that know what we know, yet basically crucify him every day as we live by our own standards and truth rather than His. We don’t live fully surrendered, fully devoted to the one that made a way for us to eternal life. We hoard our money and buy material things that aren’t lasting.
BUT, when we need healing, we ask. When we need Joy and Peace, and mountains moved..we pray. That is good, it turns our pride and/or weakness to Him! If only it would continue once we are out of the valley!

The heart of the disciples and Paul grabs our hearts through somewhere in our faith journey, When we read the old testament and then hit the new testament…it’s such an amazing thing. And we hear their words, their witness and testimony—that would surely get them ridiculed, mocked, and killed. They had the passion cause they couldn’t not!! That’s how I feel..I can I NOT?! I have seen the light, and it is so bright, so good, so beautiful, so life-changing! Thank you Jesus!! Let me not forsake it, be impartial, or lazy about it! I can’t be perfect…but He can!

Song- Franni Cash “Jesus All Along”

  16. Tina says:

we have been blessed to know Him, in our time, our days, our lives..
    .
We have the knowledge that was ignored, rejected, and/or not recognised as it stared the early folk in the face.
    .
We have been given the tools, the Holy Spirit, perhaps that might have made their hearts a little more open back then..
    .
We have no reason, NONE, or grounds to ask for HIM to be killed, infact, if anything, we owe a huge, HUGE, debt of gratitude to JESUS, for saving ‘our bacon’
We are indebted to HIM and more, for HIS sacrifice on our behalf.
    .
We absolutely do know what has been written about HIM, and as we walk with HIM we get to know more.
    .
That tomb, that tomb, in which they thought they could hold HIM, was found empty, bringing, and giving us Hope in the promises, each and every one that GOD has made to us. HE is Faithful, always has been!
    .
JESUS, is with us in our daily walk, HE lives in us, and we see HIM in the faces of strangers, in their smiles, help small or large, their actions..
    .
Let us then, continue to respond to HIS ask, to witness to others especially those who do not know of HIS great love for us, and HIS sacrifice to bring us Hope and home to our Father GOD, who has NEVER forsaken us, not even when we deserved it..
    .
    BUT GOD..
    .
    AMEN.
    .
    Blessed Sunday dear hearts..❤️
