This Is the Old Testament is part of a twelve-week thematic overview of the entire Bible. Each day we’ll read a thematic selection from a different book of the Bible, along with supplemental passages that show how the theme of that day’s main reading is found throughout Scripture. We’ll also read a brief summary of each book and a reflection on how the book fits into the larger story of Scripture. This week, we move from the Pentateuch into the second section of the Old Testament, the Historical Books.
The Book of Joshua: The book of Joshua records God’s fulfillment of the renewed covenant in Deuteronomy and describes Israel’s entry into the promised land under Joshua’s guidance.
How Joshua Fits Into the Story: Joshua narrates Israel’s journey to the promised land, where the nation received its promised inheritance. Miraculous events, such as the crossing of the Jordan River, marked the Israelites’ journey. God gave Israel victories, but each victory required a step of faith. God’s holiness and provision are evident throughout this book, reminding future generations of His covenant faithfulness to His people.
Reflection Questions:
1. In light of Joshua 1, how does the promise of God’s presence change how you live?
2. How does today’s reading shape your understanding of the story of redemption?
Take time to reflect on your responses and share what you are learning with others in the community in the comments.

Praise God for His Holy Word!
❤️
Wow just wow. I’m reading this before heading out on a long awaited bachelorette trip for a friend. Last week I was in a car accident and my back is very sore and uncomfortable. I am feeling very anxious over the 7 hour car ride and the activities that may commence. However, reading this brought tears to my eyes in the remembrance that God is going to be with me all the way there and back and forevermore. No need to be afraid or dismayed.
I find so much comfort in these verses! There is such peace being reassured to not fear and be discouraged but to keep our eyes on the Lord. It frees up so much space in my heart and my mind when I let go of my fears and uncertainty. Praise be to God that we can let it go and trust Him to lead us.
Reflection Questions:
1. In light of Joshua 1, how does the promise of God’s presence change how you live?
There is hope in the darkest and brightest of days. The hope of the Lord keeps knocking on the door, the walls and windows.
2. How does today’s reading shape your understanding of the story of redemption?
This reading reminded me that we aren’t alone our Lord is with us always until the end of our days. He’ll help us on our journey through the good and the bad.
Even tho God gave Israel victories each victory took a step of faith, and it reminds us to take a step of faith when God gives us wins in our lives. Gods holiness and His provision are always so evident throughout the book of Joshua✝️❤️✝️❤️
♥️
Warning! Long post but I have to! ❤️ I love the book of Joshua! So many promises of God that were fulfilled showing God’s faithfulness even when the Israelites were not so faithful! Joshua 1:9 has always been a favorite verse of mine but never so important to me as July 2023 when I was diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma. My world felt shattered. I was newly retired, probably in the best health of my life, a health coach, and retiring from a long, wonderful career as a registerd nurse. I was excited for what God had planned for me. Walking every day, blasting my Christian playlists and loving every day. But suddenly one Saturday after lifting the tank lid on my toilet, I felt a crack in my back which turned out to be compression fractures of 6 vertebra in my back. I had the most intense pain I had ever had. That’s when it was discovered that I had Multiple Myeloma in my entire spine and skeletal system. My spine was literally crumbling from the blood cancer that was wrecking my body. After meeting with a hematologist/oncologist and hearing that this was an incurable but very treatable disease, my husband and I walked out with fragile hope. We rode home in mostly silence and tears but Joshua 1:9 came to my heart. I told my husband “God’s got this. We’ve been through hard things before and with God we will get through this too.” Be strong and courageous. I clung to that verse. Let me tell you, God showed me three times that He would bring me through. Through prayer, song, and a vivid dream where I “heard” God say to me that I may not be healed but He would walk through the process with me daily. Be strong and courageous. I woke up knowing without a doubt the He had this. Someone needed to see my miracle. Let me tell you, it was a journey for sure…But God… (thanks Tina :) after six months of induction treatment, a huge dose of chemotherapy and a stem cell transplant, there were so many times that I reminded myself to be strong and courageous. I also chose “Speak To The Mountains” by Chris McClarney as my anthem song. I never felt alone. And now…as of April 11, 2026 I have had 26 months of remission! Has every day been easy? No!! But I never doubted God’s words to me. I don’t know what my future holds but I 100% know who holds my future. God bless all of you my SRT sisters. Be strong and courageous. God is with you wherever you go. ❤️✝️
Every word of your wonderful testimony was so worth reading!! Thank you, and joining you in thanks for these many months in remission ❤️
That’s an amazing testimony, Catherine, of God’s faithfulness. Thank you so much for sharing it.
❤️
Praise God my friend!! What a testimony!! What a scary diagnosis, but I love that right from the start you chose to be Strong and Courageous!
I need to copy this (your testimony) and put on our She’s page under testimonies file! Sound good?!!
Yes! That would be great!
What a wonderful testimony, Catherine! You are one of quite a few SRT sisters who are on my “every single day” prayer list! God is still moving and working in your life and He is not done yet! Praise God from whom all blessings flow! ❤️
Thanks be to God
Thank you for sharing! What an amazing testimony and such an encouragement!
Catherine, thank you for sharing. Your testimony deeply resonates with me and my cancer journey and where I am currently. The last few weeks have been heavy, feeling so unwell and in a place a waiting for information, results, appts, next steps etc. This has been of great encouragement today…thank you ❤️
Late to respond but praise God for your testimony! Your words are such a wonderful reminder to be strong and courageous and put our trust in the One who loves us like no other! Prayers will continue.
Catherine, thank you for sharing your testimony. My dad was diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma in 2023 as well, and having witnessed his journey firsthand I have seen some of the struggle that I am sure you faced. It brings tears to my eyes to consider all of the ways that the Lord has shown up and continues to show up each and every day of this lifelong journey. Prayers that the Lord would continue to bless you with healing and that your testimony would continue to touch others – to God be the glory!
CATHERINE McVEY!!!
Sister, I knew you had a major medical ‘history’ but WOW, what a testimony! Praise God for your remission and may it hold. Thank you so much for sharing how Joshua 1:9 strenghthened you for the journey. Great encouragementb. My personal definition of encourage is “to instill courage” That’s what your testimony can do! ❤ I am going to listen to that song.
Thank you Catherine for sharing this amazing testimony!
Amen
KIRA H-
I, too, have prayed for Harper and pray this surgery goes well with no issues! Praying for oeace for you and het parents. ❤ Thankful our prayers were answered for her staying well so the surgery would not be delayed!
Do you think Joshua was given a physical copy of the books of the law that Moses wrote to mediate on?
Excerpt from Got Questions dot org article titled
“What Is the Law of Moses”. I put asterisks before and after the pertinent quote so it would stand out:
“The Bible’s first use of the phrase Law of Moses appears after the death of Moses. Joshua, who was with Moses throughout Israel’s forty years in the desert, had just led the nation of Israel into the Promised Land. In obedience to one of Moses’ final commands,
***
he had the Law of Moses written on plastered stones (Deuteronomy 27:4–8) and read in its entirety to all the people, both Israelite and alien (Deuteronomy 31:9–13)
Bible scholars differ on how much of the law was inscribed and read by Joshua, but most agree it was not every word of all five books of the Torah.
***
Still, a great deal could be written easily enough on plastered stone, as shown by the use of similar techniques in ancient Egyptian temples and tombs.”
Thank you CEE GEE for the research. How hard it must have been for them to read on the 1-copy plastered stones, compared to us now with easy access through book prints and cell phone bible app.
❤ most welcome!
Reflection Questions:
1. In light of Joshua 1, how does the promise of God’s presence change how you live? It reminds me of this promise, only those who do the Word of GOD are prosperous (Joshua 1:7), and it reminds me further to the book of James, be doers of the Word, not only hearers deceiving ourselves. And as many of our shes have said it spot on, the underlying foundation of courage and strength is the starting point for all virtuous actions, in the sin-filled territory of the earth realm, where the devil is the prince. “Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go” (Joshua 1:9). The problem with fear, it is one of the most powerful forces in human existence, because it is not just an emotion, but a survival mechanism that is hardwired into our biology. When we feel fear, our brain’s threat detector (the amygdala) takes over instantly, bypassing the logical thinking mind. Then our body is overwhelmed with adrenaline and cortisol, spiking the heart rate and prepare us for “fight, flight or freeze”. Fear tricks us into feeling completely alone and defenseless against a future we can’t control (fear is a liar). And I love it so much how in Joshua 1:9, the reminder “God is with us” counters that illusion of the isolation. There is a Greater Force and Authority going with us, “You hem me in behind and before, and You lay your hand upon me” (Psalm 139:5), “…and the glory of the Lord shall be your rear guard” (Isaiah 58:8).
.
2. How does today’s reading shape your understanding of the story of redemption? Obedience is very important for redemption. God turns the wheel of personal redemption through human willingness and obedience. True obedience will always demand us crossing the threshold of fear, uncertainty and brutal cultural opposition. Facing the cost can mean risking safety, reputation, and comfort. And courage is commanded. Courage is faith in action, for me courage is the resilience to go forward when our self-preservation and our understanding screams no. That is why I am so thankful that each day we come here to reprogram our mind together, trusting in GOD together. Redemption happens in our personal life when we choose obedience over self interest, and courage over comfort. “Obedience is better than sacrifice, and to listen is better than the fat of rams” (1 Samuel 15:22). May the Lord always give us ears to listen well, and courage and strength to follow through.

KIRA H – thinking of your 3 year old niece HARPER and her surgery today, praying for success and strong recovery, grace for medical team, and strength for your sister’s family.
.
TERESA DONLEY- peace and calmness for you and your knee surgery this Wednesday. Praying for smooth procedure and for the LORD to be by your side.
Be blessed dear sisters.
Mercy – Your comment was the first thing I saw when I came on today. My neice was just taken back with the anesthesiologist, and I burst into tears when I came here and saw your prayers. What a joy it is to be able to pray for, and be prayed for by, one another.
Grateful to you, and all of the other sisters here who are praying.
I, too, have prayed for Harper and pray this surgery goes well with no issues! Praying for oeace for you and het parents. ❤ Thankful our prayers were answered for her staying well so the surgery would not be delayed!
Praying to all goes well!
So good Mercy!!
I am going to save! Obedience is so key to our faith.
❤️
It should change it more! But I do think twice about my actions. I’m more and more convicted every day on decisions I make. How am I coming across to others? As a believer who follows God or as a hypocrite.
Great question! ❤️
Our youngest has a series of interviews today. (They are from 1:30-3:30, CST.) Pray for confidence and peace, and for His will to be accomplished, please. He sees clients for therapy, but this clinical psychology department would offer income stability and benefits. Thank you.
Praying for confidence, COURAGE, and peace through these interviews! ❤
Thank you so much, CeeGee! ❤️
Praying for peace through these interviews as through the peace He can be confidently bold in his response to the interview questions..
Hugs.
Hoping mum is on the mend..❤️
Praying for favors and victory over him.
Yes, Amen to all the above prayers for your son Adrienne!
Late :( praying for wisdom and encouragement post-interview
Joshua 24:15 is a fave verse of mine, but it ties in perfectly with 1:16… think I need to hold that one close too!
Today is Day 1 for me with She Reads Truth and I’m incredibly grateful already for this community. I’m awaiting my books to arrive and I’ll read today’s reading shortly. I have some prayer requests that feel heavy and I need a circle of believers to surround me. 1. My 15 yr old daughter, Sarah, needs friends. She is very lonely and suffers from an eating disorder that has wrecked her world for over 2 years. Yes, she’s been in the hospital and continues to see professionals. 2. My daughter, Allison, is making decisions for her career post high school for college or not. Big choices ahead. She’ll be a senior this upcoming year. 3. I need strength, peace, clarity, and God’s guidance as I navigate single motherhood and break ties with unhealthy relationships.
Thank you and I am excited to be amongst believers and prayer warriors.
PAIGE, this community will stand with you! This is a great community for study and encouragement and wonderful prayer warriors. WELCOME! ❤
Praying for Sarah-eating disorder/healing
Praying for Allison- wisdom in future choices
Are your girls believers? ❤
Praying for you, too, of course! ❤
Yes, they are believers. Thank you so much for your prayers. I can tell that this group is going to be really good.
❤
You got it, Paige! And… welcome!
Paige, Praise be to God for your stepping out in faith to share your needs to a believing community!
I join with you in prayer and trusting God has heard and is able to accomplish His best for each of these requests!
Shalom to you as you obey and move forward in the ways He leads and provides!
Amen!
Welcome Paige! I have been with SRT for several years. You will find faithful prayer warriors here. I’m glad you are with us.
Hi Paige. I am praying for you and your daughters. I have my own 21 year old who struggles with OCD/anxiety and it can be so challenging. The ladies here have lifted me up many many times. Welcome!
Welcome Paige!
I found this safe place some 12 years ago, and I haven’t left.. The sisters (and truly this is what they’ve become) really care and have your back always.. SO looking forward to lifting you and yours up in prayer covered in love as you all navigate life into the next season..
Infact I am going to start today.. for Allison, Sarah and yourself..
God is good, He led you here for a reason.. I’m excited..❤️
We come before You today to lift up Paige, a devoted mother who loves her daughters deeply. Lord, You know the weights she carries, and we ask that You step into her home with Your peace, Your grace, and Your mighty strength. We pray over Sarah, we ask that You surround her with genuine, loving, and supportive friends. We pray fiercely against the eating disorder gripping her. We speak freedom over this bondage. We ask for complete healing, mind, body, and soul. We lift up Allison, as she navigates this pivotal post-high school season. Clear away any confusion or anxiety about the future. Grant her supernatural wisdom and discernment as she makes big decisions about her next steps. Finally, Lord, we pray for Paige herself. Pour out Your strength upon her when she feels weary. Being a mother requires so much, and she cannot pour from an empty cup. We ask that You provide her with a healthy, robust support system. Surround her with wise friends, mentors, and community members who will check in on her, pray with her, and carry these burdens alongside her. Fill her home with Your tangible presence and give her the daily provision she needs to lead her family with love and resilience. In Jesus’ Name we pray and we give You all the glory. Amen.
Amen!
Welcome Paige
AMEN!! Welcome to SRT Paige. Lots of sisters here to pray with you and for you. God bless you as you navigate single motherhood and raising teen age daughters! So happy you chose this group!! ❤️
Welcome, Paige! Joining with my sisters here in prayer for you and for both of your daughters. Praying for healing and every answer and decision needed.
Precious Paige—welcome to our sisterhood! This group of sisters in Christ will hold you up in prayer through all that comes your way! Here is one of my favorite passages: Psalm 94:16-19
English Standard Version
16 Who rises up for me against the wicked?
Who stands up for me against evildoers?
17 If the Lord had not been my help,
my soul would soon have lived in the land of silence.
18 When I thought, “My foot slips,”
your steadfast love, O Lord, held me up.
19 When the cares of my heart are many,
your consolations cheer my soul.
Praying for you as you navigate single motherhood, praying for healing for Sarah, and praying for Allison as she makes decisions about her future. ❤️
Three times in this passage, Joshua is told to be strong/courageous. What was the basis of that strength/courage? His faith? I think it was His TRUST in God’s promises. He had seen God be with Moses. He had visual evidence of God working through Moses and God used those reminders to strengthen Joshua’s courage.
✨
1) Joshua had seen God be with Moses. We have seen God be with so many in Scripture. We have evidence we can trust. God is with us
(Matthew 1:23
“Look! The virgin will conceive a child!
She will give birth to a son,
and they will call him Immanuel, which means
‘God is with us.’)
.
2) This reading reminds me that stepping out of my comfort zone takes courage/God with me. I can’t draw people to Him if I am not connected to Him- if He is not Lord of my life.
✨

Two songs that came to mind:
1) Matt Redman – Never Once (Live/Lyrics And Chords)

MARGARET W- praying for Becca’s interview/outcome ❤

TERESA DONLEY- praying for successful surgery and smooth recovery! ❤

Josh 1:9 has been a verse that God gave me so many times over the last 4 years! Before I had reverse rotator cuff surgery and then a year later breaking my wrist in 2 places! And even now negotiating some health issues.
I’m thankful for His gentle reminder almost daily of this verse. He is with us so we can be strong and courageous!
This just shows me how much God loves His children to just keep reminding us of His promises and that He will never leave us or forsake us!
Praying for all! Have a beautiful and blessed day knowing He will never leave us or forsake us!
Praying for you to have wisdom in your relationships.
Happy Monday sweeties! I don’t know what key I always hit, but it erases EVERYTHING! Happy Monday! Be strong and courageous!
Oh, Mari! I hate when that happens! My Kindle has lots of touchy spots so I know what you mean.❤
Mari, i was reminded of that scene in Pretty woman, when Richard Geres character phones to ask if she bought a dress, He tells her when putting the phone down not to pick up the phone when it rings.. he calls again and of course she picks up, he says “i told you not to answer” Her response “..then stop calling”
Know where im going with this, my dear… stop pressing the button!
Only messing around. Im sorry for your writings to have disappeared.. but i think the 4 words say it all, right?
Be strong and courageous.,
.
Amen.
.
Love you sister..❤️
I haven’t had a chance to read today’s Scripture, but wanted to ask for prayers, please.
We have a busy week of appointments and Steve’s MRI is Tuesday. We will get the results Wednesday morning.
He told me he is terrified!!!
He is expecting the worst news and doesn’t want to put me and our family through this.
I am hanging onto a thread of hope that we receive good news.
It is all in God’s hands. We are not in control.
But I know that God can do exceedingly, abundantly more than we can ask or imagine!
Hugs to each of you! ❤️
Praying right now.
Sue I will be praying! The verse you mentioned is the life verse of a character in a Christian fiction I am reading. It is referenced often in her trials and she uses it to encourage others. Hang on to the hope that verse gives you! Please keep us posted. ❤
Often your family is in my prayers. Know you’ll keep us posted when you have the results. ❤️
Praying for peace from anxiety for Steve and for you. Praying for good results and that God’s hand is holding you tightly through all.
Praying for you and Steve, GrammieSue. I am praying that you feel God‘s presence and His peace and comfort during this week. Keep us posted. ❤️
Oh GramsieSue, i wish i could come by and hug you both whilst praying Gods peace over you both!
I am praying, praying, praying that ‘peace like a river attendeth your way and that when the worries come, as they will do, whatever the thoughts remember, the Lord has taught you to say, (and if you can’t, we’ve got this) It is well, it is well with your soul.. God has got you both and the family too.. He faithfully has..
Much peace-filled love..❤️
I’m adding my prayers to the others here. God can do exceedingly and abundantly more! Yes go God!
Me too dear Sue!
God is healing and doing miracles all the time! Well you guys have already seen many, and “even if” yes, you will be covered in the shelter of his wing.
Praying, Sue, for God’s peace in the waiting, and for His strength no matter what the news is Wednesday. Y’all are loved by so many! ❤️
Praying, Sue, for the MRI to show clear results on Wednesday. Also, praying that God would provide everything you need. Peace and comfort to you and your family.
Just seeing this morning and adding my prayers.
Praying ❤️
Faith and obedience go together! We have to trust, pray, and follow the will of God. And then action. Both are challenging. Why do we think it will all be so easy? We measure our life by how good everything is. Yet, as children and faithful followers of God, we see throughout the scriptures that they had to be strong and courageous. God gives them purpose but it is never easy. They had to put their own fear aside and trust and obey. In Joshua- stepping into the sea while it still looked impossible. They didn’t know it had stopped up stream already. Marching around Jericho…it was work each and every long day marching around not knowing it would fall all the 7th day.
I also saw how the tribes that had been given land already, still had to participate in God’s plan for the people. Sometimes we want to rest in our goodness and rest, but we are called to help move the whole plan of God. As Matthew’s scripture says therefore go-tell the good news, make disciples! When God calls we must listen and follow his directions and purposes. We had rather not most of the time if it interrupts our rest (ahem…retired peeps!) We need to keep running a strong race, finishing strong not weak!)
There is much work to be done. As the phrase goes God doesn’t call the equipped, he equips the called! It lets us put our faith in God to help us. To surrender and trust. His purposes succeed when we allow our fear to be secondary to His power.
Lord help us to be strong and courageous. Help us to stay faithful in fellowship with you, to hear and follow your purposes for each and all of us. Oh the things we could do stepping forth in action where you call us and equip us. You never leave or forsake us. We thank you Lord for giving us discernment and wisdom just like Joshua. Amen
“God gives them purpose but it was never easy. They had to put their own fear aside and trust and obey.”
Wow, so good Rhonda! Thank you for summarizing that!
It’s so true; we think if God is with us and for us, life should be easy! Even though Jesus actually promised we’d have trouble! Thankfully He promises to be with us too, 3 times I think in chapter 1.
Great encouragement, Rhonda! Thank you for sharing these points!
.
“His purposes succeed when we allow our fear to be secondary to His power.” Amen
Back to your weekend posts –
praying for these girls, especially the 23 year old you mentioned, and I love that she replied to you ❤️
“we all deserve grace, and God does offer it to every repentive heart” This reminded me of Because of Jesus, Charity Gayle (writers Magen Thurman, Steven Musso, Charity Gayle, Hannah Rae Miele, Ryan Kennedy)
Bridge & Chorus:
.
You bring freedom to the captives, good news to the poor
Healing to the broken and joy to those who mourn
You turn ashes into beauty, the ruins You restore
I am a testimony of the goodness of the Lord
.
Now my heart cries “This is my Redeemer”
With my whole life, I will give You praise
All the glory to the one who’s worthy
Because of Jesus, I have been changed
I’ve never heard that, will have to listen! I love her voice, going to see her in a few months!
❤️
Q.1. The promise of God’s presence should change everything about the way I live! The Spirit of the Most High God, the Creator of the Universe and the One who created me, the One who defeated death LIVES IN ME! He is with me every minute of my life. He provides everything I need. He is everything I need.
I’ve never noticed that the “be strong and very courageous” is attached to “observe carefully the whole instruction” (v. 7) To be strong and courageous I must be in God’s Word – meditate on it, learn what it says, get it not only in my head, but in my heart. And then, DO. WHAT. IT. SAYS!
Q.2 – The Israelites were going into the Promised Land to be light to those around them. They had everything they needed to do that. We have been given the same command – “Go and make disciples…”. We also have everything we need…”And remember, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” (Matt. 28: 20)
Amen!
Amen!❤️
Joshua was a great man of faith. I wonder if he rolled his eyes or worried internally when the Israelites responded “ just as we followed Moses commands, we will follow you.” How great was God that He gave them another leader?
:)❤️
lol! So true!!
Also to Kathy above–good points! We Christians today have really lapsed on the obey part. We want all his blessings but want to do our own way.
I’ve always loved these verses. I remember memorizing the “be strong and courageous” verses as a kid and have held on to them through the years. Also love v.7 about not turning to the right or the left. The reminder to not always be looking around, comparing ourselves to others, seeing what the world is doing and “advising” us to do, but to keep ours eyes focused on His Word, our God, and his faithfulness and we will be able to move forward with strength and courage. Praying for all the requests this morning.
Wonderful insights, DW! I appreciate the application to the present.

Prayers for safe travels! ❤
Dearest, travel safe and enjoy!❤️
The Lord is with us, so we can do what He calls us to do—we walk in His strength, not our own! Praise God!
He is with us! He promises to be with us and He made good on that promise through the OT temple system, coming to earth as Emmanuel, dwelling in us through the Holy Spirit, and promising to come again in power! He has always desired community with us and His redemption plan has made the way!
Joshua 1 should shift our Focus From the huge size of our challenges to the certainty of his character. Let us be empowered to live our Christian faith with Supernatural courage instead of fear. With steadfast obedience. And with daily truth as our foundation.
Amen, Karen!
We don’t have to be afraid anywhere or in anything, because God is always with us!
I love the part of the summary of Joshua that said “God gave Israel victories, but each victory required a step of faith.” So often, if I were to take a step of faith, God will meet me there and provide. Yet, my anxiety tries to convince me differently. May I remember that God has never withheld a promise without plan of completing it in His perfect timing!!
These phrases and promises of truth from our scripture passages today are so reassuring: “I will be with you….I will not leave you or abandon you….. Be strong and courageous…. Do not be afraid or discouraged, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go…..the Lord your God will be with you…. remember I am with you always….I will never leave you or abandon you….The Lord is my helper;I will not be afraid.”
We are not alone in the battle of our days; in the opposition, unknown, uncertain, heartache, waiting, grief, trial or storm. Letting this seep into my heart today. He is with us. He is with us. He is with us. Thank you Lord❤️
❤️
Amen!
❤️
Yes! He is with us! He never leaves us!
I will not be afraid!
God’s presence in us is so different than for Joshua as the Spirit is within us guiding us and helping us to “be strong and courageous” as we fight our battles!
.
The events in Joshua show me that victory begins with surrender. If I’m to allow God to fight my battles, I need to get out of the way and follow His lead. I need to wait for His “matching orders” and not rely on my own “battle plan.”
.
Praying for you, Shes. “Do not be afraid or discouraged, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”
Amen, Kelly!
Amen, sister! ❤
Amen, Kelly.❤️
Ladies my heart is breaking this morning. Two of my adult children are being very difficult- both are Christians and us in the ministry full time. I am so confused by what’s happening- it doesn’t make sense and it’s breaking my heart.
I’m so sorry! May God grant you the wisdom to know how to steward your children through these difficulties!
I am so sorry Larae. I will be praying for your children and for you. I too am in full time ministry and I have two adult prodigal sons. It is heart breaking. But I am reminded always that God is not finished with me, nor is He finished with them. He is working, even when we can’t see it. ❤️
Praying for the adult children of ministry leaders. It’s so hard for believers to watch adult children making mistakes and ungodly decisions. I pray for my daughter and the prodigals. I love that Sharon, the Lord has them and is working behind the scenes.
Praying for your heart and for God to give you his wisdom to know how to navigate this.
Praying right now.
LaRae, praying for you and your adult christian children.. praying that whatever is going on with them will come to light and then at least can be prayed over and sorted through..
As a praying Mama, keep holding up them to God, He sees them, and He knows them, every hair on their head, they are not far from His sight.. they are His, (always) even if it may not seem like it through their choices at the moment..
Praying for your Mama heart..❤️
Praying, LARAE, for clarity and wisdom for you and especially for your children.
Thank you ❤️
Thank you Lord for being with me through it all, no matter how often and far I stray. Help me always put your will ahead of mine, knowing it is for my good and my salvation.
I’ve been away for a couple of weeks (revitalizing vacation and then…). I’m requesting prayers for the “and thens.” We have learned the reason fo Mom’s STEEP decline these last few months. After returning from our trip I traveled to be with her and my sister. So grateful for hospice and the warm, caring staff at her facility as she, and we, navigate the time that she has left. Also for my sister and her husband as he heals and deals with recovering from a health crisis of his own. AND for my closest cousin who also is now in hospice and will be going to his Lord and Savior soon. Pray for comfort for him and peace for his family during this time. Thankful for all of you.
Prayers for you and your family, Cat-tee. Wow- so much happening at the same time! Our God will be with them wherever they are on their journey as He is with you
Praying for you and your family!
Praying CAT-TEE over so many things happening around you.
Oh goodness! This seems like too much, Cat-tee, but we know that nothing is too much for our God – He can and He will be with you every step of every day. Praying for His strength in these next days and weeks.
Amen
God makes good on His promises. We don’t. The 2nd time God tells them, “Be strong and courageous” it was in regard to being obedient. That stopped me. God knew it was not going to be easy for us to be obedient, yet He still chooses us everyday. Thankful that we have a God whose mercies are new every morning, and that when I fall short time and time again, He welcomes me with open arms. Have a blessed day ladies!
Thank you, Tami, for pointing that out. I had to go back and read that part again. Sometimes it takes courage to physically do something, but sometimes it takes more courage just to be obedient.
Tami this stood out to me too! not only obedient, but obedient to punishing his own brothers and sisters if they were not obedient! That struck me, that takes on another level of strength and courage besides the courage to go into battle, reminds me of the strength and courage of Jesus.
GM Here is our list of loved ones. Add any names under in the comments:) Acts 2:39 For the promise is for you and for your children, and for all who are far off, as many as the Lord our God will call.”
Acts 26:18:… open their eyes, so they may turn from darkness to light and from the power of Satan to God. Then they will receive forgiveness for their sins and be given a place among God’s people, who are set apart by faith in me.
Jeremiah 31:16-17 But now this is what the Lord says: “Do not weep any longer, for I will reward you,” says the Lord. “Your children will come back to you from the distant land of the enemy.17 There is hope for your future,” says the Lord.“Your children will come again to their own land.”
Proverbs 20:7 The righteous who walks in his integrity— blessed are his children after him.
Peter 3:8–9 (CSB): 8 Dear friends, don’t overlook this one fact: With the Lord one day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years like one day. 9 The Lord does not delay his promise, as some understand delay, but is patient with you, not wanting any to perish but all to come to repentance.

Amen! Amen! God is always near and willing to walk with us although we mess up every minute. Thank you for your never ending forgiveness, grace and mercy. We are just like those wandering around with Moses. God gives us all we need but we think we need something else. Help me Lord to trust you with today’s manna. Not feeling well today and would covet any prayers as I have to go to work soon. Thank you. Hope everyone has a wonderful day.
Praying for you to feel better!
Prayers that you feel better!
Praying for you to feel better!
Praying you feel better very very Soooooooooon. ❤️
Praying for healing!
Be obedient to the Lord, as well as strong and courageous. He always keeps His promises, yet we are/can be as fickle as the Israelites.
In their failure, v18 Whoever rebels against your command and does not heed your words, in all that you command him, shall be put to death.
Thankful for Jesus, His sacrifice and my salvation, His forgiveness time and again.

Am I the only one who thinks of this hymn every time I read about Joshua?
The Walls Came Tumbling Down, G A Thacker, 1949
V 1 The Lord told Joshua to go to Jericho, and to march 7 times around, He followed faithfully the blessed Lord’s command, And the walls came tumbling down.
V 2 If you are trusting in the power of the blood, And you hope to wear a crown; Go forward quickly, and obey the holy word, Walls of doubt will tumble down.
V 3 The Lord is calling, sinner, come to Him today, Turn from this vain world’s renown; If you will follow Him in faith, like Joshua, Walls of sin will tumble down.
Chorus
Yes, the walls came tumble-ing down; Joshua, marched seven times around, Then the walls came tumble-ing down, And the walls came tumbling down.

BG verses today brought tears of thankfulness,
Revelation 21:2-4
2 Then I, John, saw the holy city, New Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.
3 And I heard a loud voice from heaven saying, “Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and He will dwell with them, and they shall be His people. God Himself will be with them and be their God.
4 And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away.”
.
AMANDA OSTER Welcome! ❤️
.
RHONDA J yes, wondering about ERB. I’ve mentioned her from time to time but haven’t seen her awesome reflection summaries in much too long.
I have not heard that hymn. I always sing – Joshua fought the battle of Jericho and the walls came tumbling down.
We played a “game” at preschool… it was to the tune of “Ring Around the Rosy”.
.
It went like this…
.
Walk around the city. Jericho’s the city. Ashes. Ashes. The walls fall down! (We fell on the floor at that part!!) ❤️
Correction… TRUMPETS! TRUMPETS! The walls fall down!
❤❤❤
That passage (Rev.) was key in the Heaven study I just finished. ❤
Great old song!
Tina I was thinking the same thing…we will obey you just as we obeyed Moses in everything! REALLY!
But are we any different today? I too struggle to obey God. Even though I have God’s word as a record of His faithfulness and promise keeping, I still make excuses for why I can’t follow Him. God help me today to remain faithful to you.
❤️
Ladies I feel so tired and emotionally drained today. Please can i have prayer for this? I have some friendships which are demanding a lot of me and I am struggling to cope with then
Praying for you, Eleanor!
Praying for you right now, dear Eleanor! ❤️
❤️ praying as you serve these friends and for the Lord’s wisdom in prioritizing the needs, and helping you evaluate whether you have the bandwidth without compromising your own physical and mental health for all these needs
Praying for wisdom and discernment on how to take care of yourself.
Praying for you right now.
Eleanor, joining our sisters in prayer for Godly rest and a new injection of grace and wisdom in these friendships..
Not 30 minutes ago, i had to inform a friend that I would be taking a step back from ‘their’ troubles.., but will still be there for them!
Hard, but for your sanity,.. and peace of heart..x
Joshua 1:16-17 had me chuckling!
.
They answered Joshua, “We will do everything you have told us and will go anywhere you send us. We will obey you, just as we always obeyed Moses…
.
Did they obey Moses? OMG! Were these not the same people that moaned and groaned their way through the wilderness? Questioning Moses’ every move? Making their own plans and making their own gods to worship?
.
.
Is this not our story daily? I know its mine, forever arguing with God about one thing or another, making other things a god, and dont get me started on those (wilderness) journeys..
And yet..
.
BUT GOD..
.
I have tears as I remember His promises and presence every step of this life I call mine..
He promised aaallll those years ago, and today, today, He is still keeping His promises, He never fails… NEVER!
He gave us Jesus His only be gotten Son. He died for me, for us, my people, your people, He bought our redemption at the cost of His life, He gave, thst we might have life, and to the full. He has always, always been there, with us never without, He has been a promise keeper, even when we let Him down, even when we moaned and groaned, even when we wandered, even when we made idols, even when..
Even when..
.
Today, I give thanks to God for never ever giving up on me, us, thst our stories do not define us, BUT GOD does, through His redemptive love, forever ours as we believe, trust and Hope in Him.
.
AMEN.
.
Happy Monday, my dears “and may the Lord your God be with you as he was with Moses!” (verse17b) He never changes!
Much love covered in prayers and mucho hugs! ❤️
Oh Boy, weren’t they those people, Tina. And continued to be those people, just like we are/do today!! Such a clear reason we so desperately need redemption.
Very grateful with you that God always, always keeps His promises!
Yes Tina, amen. God never gave/ gives up.
Amen! I’m so thankful He’s never given up on me
This made me emotional…
The Lord my God is with me ❤️
Always, Onyekachi, always! Praise be…❤️
as for me and myhouse…we will serve the Lord
Amen Sandy. Amen.
.
Praying today is a good one.
