Scripture is God breathed and true. When we memorize it, we carry the good news of Jesus with us wherever we go.
For this reading plan we will work to memorize the key passage, James 1:2–4. This week we will start with verses 2 and 3, a reminder that testing and trials of our faith not only produce endurance but can actually lead to joy.
2 Consider it a great joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you experience various trials, 3 because you know that the testing of your faith produces endurance. 4 And let endurance have its full effect, so that you may be mature and complete, lacking nothing.
—James 1:2–4

Happy Sunday! Thank You Jesus for your mercy and grace.
Rest in Jesus today and everyday in your quiet time with Him. Let God be God don’t try to be God when you are not God❤️❤️✝️✝️
Great advice, Ellie! ❤
Happy Sunday she’s. I am trying to memorize these verses on this beautiful (snowy) Sunday and feel very thankful for the reminder to reroute suffering back to joy. Next week I will be away for a family trip to a mountain area, also with lakes to rewind. I hope to take more walks and to quiet down the many noises and life demands. Mountains always make me think of God for some reasons and His greatness. I may not have stable internet to tune in daily. I would appreciate your prayers for a safe and happy trip. Thankful for you. Be blessed dear sisters.
Snow!!
Wishing you and your family a beautiful, bonding, and peaceful refreshing time away!!

In a contribution from William Oesterley’s commentary on James, the Greek word for “COMPLETE” or “PERFECT” (in some translations) is “holokleros”. Knowing human perfection this side of Heaven isn’t possible, I never fully grasped the meaning. I’ve learned now that it refers to a person who fulfills the purpose that God created him/her for — as he puts it, “those who fully attain to their high calling.”
For me, it takes the pressure off. He’s not looking for me to reach some high level of perfect achievement, he’s hoping for me to walk closer with him, working with him in fulfilling my purpose :)
❤️ pressure off feels really nice.
These verses spoke to me years ago. Now after many hard trials, I can see the full effect of them in my life.
.
Thank you Lord Jesus for holding me up during hard times. For giving me endurance. For showing me joy after the trials.
These verses keep showing up for me over and over lately! God is telling me not to lose my joy when I’m in a trial! Just keep my eyes on Him and keep growing in Him! Because He is working on my character!
This doting has been hard. My fibromyalgia has really caused a lot of pain! More than I’ve had in a long time. I just am learning to lean into Him for my strength and joy! He meets me every time! He is faithful!
Praying for all!!
Praying for your pain Cheryl! I’m so sorry
I am so sorry Cheryl that you have had increased pain. Prayers.
Prayers your pain subsides quickly. ❤️
I’m sorry to hear, Cheryl that you are in so much pain. Praying for relief and healing for you.
Amen!
GM She’s! Happy Sunday!
We are taking our time this morning, going to a later service, so it’s nice to not be quite so rushed in my quiet time. I was able to read through James again and try to absorb it all as a whole.
Not sure I came out with any great wisdom to share. lol.
But repetition is good, and sowing the seeds in my mind and heart, will produce a good harvest in its time. I just consume the word, be a doer, water and tend. God does the rest! :)
Remember..the testing of our faith is good. A chance..to endure, to become fuller and richer! It is not for nothing, or to wear you down. Just like working out, more strength comes from breaking down the muscles. They repair and become stronger. We actually begin to enjoy it. (some of us more than others, winky face!)
Pray ya’ll have a good and blessed Sunday/Wkd.
So true! Help me to consume the word, be a doer, water and tend as I allow the Lord to do the rest. Love your words Rhonda J! Thanks for the reminder we don’t have to do it all but allow the Holy Spirit to work in our lives and give us understanding of the word. Hope this makes sense. Happy Sunday to all! May we all hunger for His word and rest in Him today.
:) Happy Sunday!
Joy > trials > testing > faith > endurance
Powerful words- all necessary to gain maturity/perfection. Crowns come at a price. Am I worthy?
Love, hugs, and prayers! Worship Him with your whole heart today! ❤
The crown ❤️ beautiful reminder.

Raw honesty here. For me it is easy to see the truth in these words when I’m in a season of joy and happiness but in the deep struggle of life events I have not always been so good at believing in these words. My spiritual life is in a much stronger place right now. Stronger and more alive than it has ever been and my prayer is that I will handle hard times as they come from a whole new way. Relying on God’s word to bring me through and keeping my focus on His goodness. Thank you Lord for how you continue to grow me, love me and teach me!
True for many of us, Debby! Thank you for sharing from your heart! ❤
For me it’s the opposite. When things are going great I’m not as close to the lord. Just enjoy in life and doing my thing. It truly is the trials that draw me back closer.

This passage takes me back to the end of the Beatitudes
“You are blessed when they insult you and persecute you and falsely say every kind of evil against you because of me. Be glad and rejoice, because your reward is great in heaven. For that is how they persecuted the prophets who were before you” (Matt.5:11-12).
.
Psalm 64:10 ESV
“Let the righteous one rejoice in the Lord and take refuge in him! Let all the upright in heart exult!”
.
May the Lord meet you as you gather with your church family to worship today. May His Spirit fall afresh and enourage your hearts.
Great Beatitude connection, Kelly! Thank you! Praying the same for you, sister! ❤
❤️ Great Psalm reference.
