18When they heard these things they fell silent. And they glorified God, saying, “Then to the Gentiles also God has granted repentance that leads to life.”
Amen!
Catching up and so thankful for God’s goodness to all who believe ♥️
Acts11: 17 If then God gave the same gift to them as he gave to us when we believed in the Lord Jesus Christ, who was I that I could stand in God’s way?”
This verse hit me. I work in a church, doing a lot with video production and worship visuals. But I have been feeling overwhelmed lately, and my boss will be leaving soon to an amazing job opportunity several states away. Recently, I new person looking to volunteer and she is wanting to take on duties that tend to be part of my job. I have been feeling hesitant about it, but this particular volunteer is actually in college studying video production.
If God has given her the same gifts and passion as me, set her in my path at a time when I need to start giving up tasks, so I can be able to take on the additional tasks coming my way than who am I to try to stand in God’s way? I need to get over myself, and let this person help, because ultimately it is allowing someone the chance to help share the message of Christ.
The fool, the sluggard, and the quarrelsome wife. We read of them in the proverbs and glaze over with the thought of “well I am not that”. The proverbs are meant to guide us and reveal to us the folly of going away from wisdom. In little ways we drift toward the track of the fool and the sluggard and quarrelsome wife. May we take heed and recognize through the proverbs how we should flee from that way.
26 Those who trust in themselves are fools, but those who walk in wisdom are kept safe. …And This matches up with the Acts reading too. I mean, what amazes me is how these believers were so in tune with God they hear messages directing them- and even though they don’t understand or they are uncomfortable- they have confidence in the message from God and they obey. Wow!! They don’t trust in themselves but have wisdom to obey. Lord I really do want to be this in tune and wise! Please help me!
The history nerd in me loved the verses in Acts telling of when we were first called Christians = followers of Christ! Followers of God’s son! We believe He is the awaited messiah & because of that we are Christians!
Acts 11:
25 Then Barnabas went to Tarsus to look for Saul, 26 and when he found him, he brought him to Antioch. So for a whole year Barnabas and Saul met with the church and taught great numbers of people. The disciples were called Christians first at Antioch.
And he said to them, “You yourselves know how unlawful it is for a Jew to associate with or to visit anyone of another nation, but God has shown me that I should not call any person common or unclean. – Acts 10:28
So if God gave them the same gift he gave us who believed in the Lord Jesus Christ, who was I to think that I could stand in God’s way?” When they heard this, they had no further objections and praised God, saying, “So then, even to Gentiles God has granted repentance that leads to life.” – Acts 11:17-18
I LOVE this. Peter went and spoke of the Lord to them, even though it was considered an “unclean act”. The Lord reveals Himself to EVERYONE, even the ones WE consider the most undeserving of His love – though really we ALL are equally undeserving. Just as Peter did, we should listen to the Lord’s calling and not consider anyone unclean. Don’t stand in the Lord’s way! Share with everyone, because we all are given the same gift of amazing grace.
14 He who blesses his friend with a loud voice early in the morning,
It will be reckoned a curse to him.
I had to laugh at this one. Not a morning person at all, so I agree! Haha!
Proverbs 28:1 The wicked flee when no one pursues,
but the righteous are bold as a lion.
FEAR of the unknown circumstances not yet shouldn’t scare us. He keeps us strong and for Him we should remember WHO keeps us that way. Have you LEAD Or LIVED our of FEAR? I’ve lived and lead out of fear before and that’s no way to live. I’ve had to learn to lead life out of LOVE and do what’s right so that my honor comes from within from Him and encourages others to do the same! What do we have to be scared of if we do what’s right and use kindness?
I love this Katrina – that verse really stood out to me as well! Anxiety and worry are so prominent in our lives today for no true reason. Whom shall I fear? What shall I fear? The answer is nothing – we are loved and He is with us now and in everything that is yet to come.
It’s so amazing and encouraging to read about the early church’s ministry to gentiles. I read that and can’t help but thank God for his grace. Without that early ministry, I wouldn’t be here!

14Blessed is the one who fears the Lord always,
but whoever hardens his heart will fall into calamity.
I love the picture of iron sharpening iron and us sharpening, or developing and molding, each other’s characters.

but those who seek the Lord understand it completely. -ellie

Verse 19 was so powerful today!!
6 Better is a poor man who walks in his integrity
than a rich man who is crooked in his ways.
This stood out to me today.
I am loving the lessons and guidance in proverbs!
This stuck out to me today. Oh how Jesus must have felt with Judas…
6 Faithful are the wounds of a friend,
But deceitful are the kisses of an enemy.
So many great things in these passages today!
This was interesting to me today
19 As water reflects the face,
so one’s life reflects the heart.
20 Death and Destruction are never satisfied,
and neither are human eyes.
This one stuck out to me too! So much truth

I was moved in the same way by this scripture! I think it’s such an inspiring message in how we should live life
This was my same exact thought, Heather!
14 He who blesses his friend with a loud voice early in the morning,
It will be reckoned a curse to him.
I had to laugh at this one. Not a morning person at all, so I agree! Haha!
Heather, I had a friend text me @ 5 this morning. I almost replied with this verse! lol
Right there with you Heather! I’m not a morning person either. :-)
Agreed on this verse! Stuck out to me, too!
