Day 12

Weekly Truth

from the Lent 2016 reading plan

Matthew 4:4

BY She Reads Truth

Text: Matthew 4:4

We believe memorizing Scripture is one of the best ways to carry God-breathed truth, instruction, and reproof wherever we go. Let’s memorize Matthew 4:4 together this week.

But He answered, “It is written:
Man must not live on bread alone
but on every word that comes
from the mouth of God.”
-Matthew 4:4 HCSB

Write this verse down and post it on your mirror or at your desk, in your car or on the fridge—anywhere you’ll see it often. Save the image below as your phone’s lock screen so you can read these words of truth throughout the day.

We want to be a community that is intentional about scripture memorization. Will you join us?

In this busy life working in a demanding job with 2 kids I do not prioritize my quiet time with the Lord. I need to give Him my first fruits because that’s what He deserves and what I need. He will guide and provide, more than our daily bread. He is loving & all powerful.

For a college student when money is tight right now… this hit home. I needed this to refocus with God as the center of my life. I can’t live on only bread. When I’m focused on doing His will alone and what truly matters (eternal life), He will provide for my basic needs. Our God is awesome like that.

Food has either always been a friend or foe to me. There were times where I toss a quick prayer or no prayer at all, so I can devour my meal. Reality, I can’t live on bread alone. I can’t allow food to be my focus or distraction. I need the Bread of Life to give me self-control. For our God is worthy.

Thank you for this series for Lent. I do not come enough for Gods presence. I do usually text style my prayers. This one was for me.

    I can’t get enough.
