Day 14

Weekly Truth

from the This Is the Church reading plan

Ephesians 4:1-6

BY She Reads Truth

Scripture is God-breathed and true. When we memorize it, we carry the good news of Jesus with us wherever we go.

This week we will continue to memorize Ephesians 4:1–6, by adding the next two verses, where Paul emphasizes unity in the Spirit.

Therefore I, the prisoner in the Lord, urge you to walk worthy of the calling you have received, with all humility and gentleness, with patience, bearing with one another in love, making every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace. There is one body and one Spirit—just as you were called to one hope at your calling—one Lord, one faith, one baptism, one God and Father of all, who is above all and through all and in all.

In my Study Bible, I have this footnote about these verses: ” ‘We are all one body’ says Paul. Unity does not just happen; we have to work at it. Often differences among people can lead to division, but this should not be true in the church. Instead of concentrating on what divides us, we should remember what unites us: ONE body, ONE Spirit, ONE future, ONE Lord, ONE faith, ONE baptism, ONE GOD!… Learn to enjoy the way we members of Christ’s body complement one another.” I thought this was very relevant to what we are talking about in our study.
Be blessed and look at your neighbor with an open heart, no matter how different they are sisters.

Michelle, I’m so sorry for your loss! Knowing she is in a better place, no more crying, no more pain, and she’s dancing on the streets of gold! Those left here in this broken world, even knowing, are left with grief. I pray that the sadness you are feeling right now, while thinking of memories and of losing her, will one day turn to joy when recalling those same memories! Allow yourself time to be sad, to grieve…you need that! Lean on the One who can give you peace and comfort during this time! ❤️

Lord, help me to continue walking in the calling you have placed in my life, that of being a teacher. Help me to do it with a joyous heart, even in the hard and frustrating times, with humility, gentleness, and patience. Please help me to love on these kiddos, especially the ones who tend to push my buttons, because those are the ones that need me the most! Help me, God, to lead a life worthy of that calling! I ask that You make my classroom a safe place, a place of refuge for those who may not have that outside of those walls! I lift it all up to you in Jesus’ Name, amen. ❤️❤️
