Day 42

Weekly Truth

from the Acts reading plan

Acts 2:37-41

BY She Reads Truth

Scripture is God-breathed and true. When we memorize it, we carry the good news of Jesus with us wherever we go.

As we’ve read Acts, we’ve worked to memorize Acts 2:37–41. Test your memory by reciting the entire passage. If you don’t have it all memorized yet, keep coming back to the passage until you do!

37 When they heard this, they were pierced to the heart and said to Peter and the rest of the apostles, “Brothers, what should we do?” 38 Peter replied, “Repent and be baptized, each of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. 39 For the promise is for you and for your children, and for all who are far off, as many as the Lord our God will call.” 40 With many other words he testified and strongly urged them, saying, “Be saved from this corrupt generation!” 41 So those who accepted his message were baptized, and that day about three thousand people were added to them.

Acts has been a very good study. The memory verse from Acts 2:40 is the one that seems to really convict me. Exhorting them to save themselves from this crooked generation seems like such a warning for such a time as this❤️

These verses and the whole book of Acts tie in wonderfully with our next study. Last night I sat down and read the editor’s letter and the introduction in the book. “One Another,” I think is something needed right now. I can’t wait. Acts was a powerful, informative, awe-inspiring, refreshing and “down-to-our-roots” book that I need to read at least once a year to remind myself of the who, what, where, why and how of my faith. Also, to remind me of the ones who gave their lives to get The Message out so I could learn The Message and The Word.
May you all be blessed and may the Lord keep you safe sisters.
Devin, Heather, since you liked this one so well I really think you will like the next one.
Beverly, my two boys and I lived with my parents for a while and I kept thinking I was going to move out but I’m glad I didn’t the influence they had, especially my dad since there was no major father figure around for them, was great. They were able to fill gaps I couldn’t and it brought them much closer. My son, Andrew, tells me all the time he now is so glad we lived with them. I know you are thinking of them and they need to be independent but think of the influence you and your husband can make, I speak from experience. Yeas there will be trying times, my parents and I had them but these children will have three loving adults looking after them instead of one. God bless you for taking them in.
Praying for all those who asked for prayers.

Asking for prayer for my youngest daughter and my two grandchildren, that they find housing just for them. Up until 2 months ago they lived with my husband and I. I’m praying for all things to become possible for them because we won’t always be here and I want to know that they will be stable. In Jesus’ name, amen. Thank you in advance for all your prayers SRT sisters.

Love! I was really impacted by “…this is for you and your children…” As a mom I am taking and holding on to that promise for my children
