Day 28

Weekly Truth

from the This Is the New Testament reading plan

Acts 13:27-31

BY She Reads Truth

Scripture is God-breathed and true. When we memorize it, we carry the good news of Jesus with us wherever we go.

So far in our survey, we’ve memorized Acts 13:27–29. This week, we’ll add verses 30 and 31, where the risen Christ continues His ministry. Copy the verses down on paper as you commit them to memory.

27 Since the residents of Jerusalem and their rulers did not recognize him or the sayings of the prophets that are read every Sabbath, they have fulfilled their words by condemning him. 28 Though they found no grounds for the death sentence, they asked Pilate to have him killed. 29 When they had carried out all that had been written about him, they took him down from the tree and put him in a tomb. 30 But God raised him from the dead, 31 and he appeared for many days to those who came up with him from Galilee to Jerusalem, who are now his witnesses to the people.
—Acts 13:27–31

What a beautiful truth. God bind that truth to my heart. When doubts pop up, reassure me that your Word is true and remind me of the scriptures you have given us.

    Amen! Thank you, GOD!
I pray that no matter what is going on in our world we at the bottom of it all are resolved in this : we know that we have been saved by the grace of God, that we have been grafted into the tree of eternal life, amidst the chaos we know & take comfort in the life to come. Because as we read this week, it is not God who tempts or changes like the shifting shadows, like the ruler of the present age. God is steadfast, He is our rock & deliverer. May we take comfort in the hope of his endurance & salvation and the glory that has yet to be revealed but is COMING! May God be our focus.

      Amen Brooke Parker

In reading some of last week’s verses this week I found this little nugget, “…you knew that you had better and lasting possessions.” Hebrews 10:34b It’s out of context, and our situation yesterday certainly wasn’t anything like the early church! However, it struck me to soak in what we did have yesterday. Our girls stayed positive as they took their cues from us and helped by walking the dog and making the instant pancakes. By the end of the day we were in Colorado laughing with our friends about how funny the whole thing was as we laid our soggy bedding and clothes out. It will be a family legend that we will retell, and it reminds me to hold our plans loosely. God has blessed us beyond measure with better and lasting possessions. Happy Sunday, she’s!!
