Day 7

Weekly Truth

1 Timothy 4:7-9

BY She Reads Truth

Scripture is God-breathed and true. When we memorize it, we carry the good news of Jesus with us wherever we go.

Over the course of this study, we will memorize 1 Timothy 4:7b–9, the key verses for our plan. Let’s begin by memorizing verse 7 and the first part of verse 8.

Write the passage out by hand, say it aloud, or test your knowledge with a friend!

Train yourself in godliness. For the training of the body has limited benefit, but godliness is beneficial in every way, since it holds promise for the present life and also for the life to come. This saying is trustworthy and deserves full acceptance.

I have been trying to become a morning person for years now. I fail time and time again. I desire to wake early, read my Bible, and get my workout done for the day. God has whispered to my heart many times that if I start with His word and seek him first, my body and the exercise piece will fall into place. Thank you Lord for this very timely reminder.

In a week of frantically exercising and feeling guilty when I don’t, God sends me this scripture to remind me that while it is admirable to care for what He gave me, it shouldn’t be the focus of my heart. What a good God we serve!

This is a great verse to memorize, I’m excited to meditate on is as I repeat it in my head and heart. Our church is starting a prayer and fast for 21 days staring today. This is a good verse to remind me to focus on godliness rather than the physical. God bless!
